Calendar Girl is a series that is following Mia as she spends a year being an escort to pay off her father’s gambling debt. I really enjoyed the first installment, as I was really sold on her love interest. I will admit I was nervous about how I would feel as she continued onto her next client.

Alec Dubois is her next client and he is an artist. He hires Mia to act as his muse for his current project Love on Canvas.

During this installment we see Mia struggle with her past and loving herself. We do get a tiny, tiny bit of Wes which I loved, but it just made it harder to understand her choices. Right now I am not sure about this serial. I didn’t love how quickly Mia was to forget Wes. I know this is probably not rationale given the premise for the series but it’s how I feel. My hope is that this year Mia will learn about herself, grow as a person and go back to Wes. That being said I don’t know how much I will care if this continues for the next 9-10 installments.

Please don’t let my opinion deter you from reading this, as I really do think this is just me.

ARC kindly provided in exchange for an honest review.

The first book in this series felt a little unrealistic to me. I really hoped this book would take that feeling away. But yeah.. You don't always get what you want.

Pros:
Quick light read: This book is a quick one. It doesn't have much pages and you rush through them really fast. The story is written as a fast paced story, so that is nice.

Wes: I really felt like Wes was a keeper in the first book. It's nice that he checks up on Mia and that she has not forgotten him. Makes the first book a little more believable. Next to that; I'm fond of Wes. He's a cool, sweet, goodlooking guy, so I liked to hear from him again!

More emotions from Mia: Mia felt like a robot in the first book, if you don't consider the fact that she fell in love with Wes. In this book she is vulnerable, she is worried about her sister, her father and she shares memories. I liked the fact that she shows a bit more of herself.

Cons:
Unrealistic: It still feels unrealistic to me. A girl who is in big trouble, who gets hired as an escort by her aunt and gets to work for only sweet goodlooking guys. I'm pretty sure, if we ask some escorts from real life, they don't always work for goodlooking, sweet rich guys. It would be awesome to read a month where Mia is not falling for the other person and doesn't have hot steamy sex all the time. Then we have the orgasms and the tears. Way too many quick orgasms, way too many quick tears. Even the passing out frequently during or after the sex.. It's just weird to me.

Alec: He is annoying. He's too dreamy. With the typical French artist, long hair and a beard hippie description. It's just too easy. He lacks personality in my opinion, where Wes did feel like a real person.

Raging about her sister studying: What really felt dumb to me, was a part in the book where Mia's sister is talking about a course she is following. It has something to do with pathology and Mia is raging about this. She doesn't want her sister to deal with death people. I felt like; WHAT!? You're screwing a different guy every month for money because of your aweful ex-boyfriend almost killed your father and you're raging about your sisters UNIVERSITY CLASS?! Nope.

Let me rant about this book, okay?

I wish Mia Saunders would come to life, just so I could punch her.

If this wasn't picked by our bookclub I would have never even started this, but since it is our book of the year I am determined to try and read along. I wonder how long I can handle this.
My full on rant is in spoiler tag, because I can't out my frustration without giving away the first two books.

Book one was good. I just can't get into the screwing of guy #2 just after falling in love with guy number 1. And I can only presume that she will be mowing through another 10 men. I listened to the sex scene at 3X the normal audio speed because it's just so sleesy. For me emotional attachment is vital to a good romance book (or life!); I need to be pulled in and brought along. Such a massive turn off. I can not comprehend the high ratings for this series. To each his own. Those of my ilk should pass on this series.

I was looking forward to this series. I was curious about how the men and Mia were going to work in a kinda reverse harem. I don't know why but this book made me never want to read the rest of the series. Mia character came off as whiny in the previous book but I got past that. Mia's character is becoming a slut. I don't mean that as a negative she just is. It's honestly like she wants to have sex with all these guys and they're isn't a relationship between them. I prefer that there would be a love story before the deed. The French painter Alec guy was the man of the story. I honestly thought he was stereotyped. I've personally been to France and rarely any French men act like that. This book was sooo boring. I got really bored I'm surprised I read all of it. Yes this book is a hundred pages and I shouldn't expect much but it wasn't up to par with the previous book. I'm rating this 2 stars it was a disappointment but I didn't loath It.

My problem with this book is not about the story. It's about the French. First, French is not sexy to me , at all.
Second, the French was translated literally from English, and even if it was grammatically correct (except for one mistake), it did not sound right. It didn't sound like what an actual French person would say, at any point.
So, that disturbed me.
Also the whole French artist thing is not for me and it had way too many clichés about French people.

Besides the french thing, I thought Mia was less interesting than in the first one... She pissed me off more and the story made me roll my eyes a little too often...

"Certo. Tu no?"
"No, certo che no. Io con te voglio divertirmi.

1* omdat-ie lekker kort was.

Wes'in yanındaki Mia'yı seviyordum, Alec'in yanındaki Mia ise mızmız, her şeye laf eden, laf etmesi gerektiğinde konuşmayan biri gibiydi. Ve mart kesinlikle benim ayım olacak! Seriye başlarken kafamda oluşan senaryolardan biri mart ayında yaşanacak. Mart ayı hepimize iyi gelecek ;)
.
Seri yetişkin içerikli olduğundan yaşı küçüklere önermiyorum. Okumayın şimdi bunları, sonra okursunuz :D

Jup, still pretty terrible (which is why a book this short took me over a month to get through). As we are reading this in our goodreads book club and everyone seems to think March is much better, I will still give that one a chance.. But if it's anything like this one I will give up cause I have wayyy to many good books on my tbr!

Book 2 - just as sexy and cute as the first but I hated the expression O-trigger!!!
Once is ok - twice, ok...but so often??? Ew!
And yes, it's all a bit slutish but pfff - it's fiction and it's fun and fast and entertaining.
On to March now! ☺

Not that good...

Mia continues her job as a newbie Paid Escort. This month she is to be an Artist's Muse, and inspire him to his next collection of paintings..... Nude paintings that is!

The plot continues to be a bit thin and still causes the occasional 'Huh... what?' moment. But is otherwise fine for this kind of quick and dirty novel. The main failing of this instalment however, is that I didn't really like the characters. They acted strange and at one point completely irrational in regard to their situation. In the end I skimmed more than I read to speed things along.

Al things combined, this was another month, lots of sex, not that much depth and one rather strange moment.

For her second job, Mia goes to Seattle to be artist Alec Dubois's muse.

This story is hot and so sweet. Alec teaches Mia so much in such a short time. Love can come in many forms, it doesn't have to be the "until death do us part" kind to be real. He also teaches her to "see" herself...see what's on the inside, not just the scars of past mistakes.

Alec is quirky, yes, he's the typical well known artist. But, he is also so compassionate, wise, and quite down to earth. There are many things he says to Mia that will stick with you. I loved this quote by Alec, "You are seeing your beauty reflected in me, the way my body calls to yours and yours to mine."

I love seeing Mia grow and have fun in the experiences that she is having. I like seeing her react to situations that put her out of her comfort zone. And, I like that she isn't a pushover.

You will enjoy meeting Alec and seeing the strong relationship that forms between him and Mia. The sad part is, it always has to end. Can't wait to see what comes next for Mia!

Book 2, February in the Calender Girl series is the second book I've consumed today. I loved Mia in January, her connection with Wes was hot and beautiful, even with Mia's current job. However, February didn't connect with me as well.

I think because I loved Mia and Wes so much, it was hard to see her switch that off so fast. However, as Mia interacted with Alec, I began to love them together. Alec was beautiful inside and out. I think the creative side of myself got the whole 'muse' thing and I loved their relationship, especially the artwork piece names.

Another great story from Audrey, I really love her writing style and can't wait yo move onto book 3, March. Reading at present is really helping take my mind off of a really tough time in my life. 4 stars.

Re-reading in Sept 2020 - I have the same opinion as I did when I read it for the first time.

A great read overall.
The 4 stars are probably just due to the little bit of "dislike" I have to some parts of it (you will figure it out as you read it), but after saying that I do understand Mia´s action in a way (even though I didn´t cheer for them and had a bit of problem with them! Lol...).
This month "on the job" did her good in a way though...she kind of found herself and figured out that it´s okay to love someone in any way or through any circumstances...even yourself.
Next up...Chicago.....
