The Woodsman #1

Saved by the Woodsman

Rate this book
I turned my back on society, walked off the grid and never looked back.
So, why can't I let her go?

Sawyer:
Ashley represents everything I hate in society.
A spoiled brat, a media princess, a woman who would rather record her life than live it.
It's people like her that are responsible for the bullshit on the internet, bullshit that cost the lives of everyone I've ever loved.
But one taste of her makes me question how I could ever live in a world without her in it.

Ashley:
Sawyer offers me nothing more than a hard body and a warm bed.
He's just an escape from my humiliation and betrayal.
He can never provide me the lifestyle that I worked so hard to obtain.
Then why am I considering throwing away my fame and fans to hide away from the world that embraced me when no one else would?

SAVED BY THE WOODSMAN is the first book in the series, The Woodsman.
It is a stand-alone, full-length romance with no cliff-hangers and an HEA.
This book deals with a very sexy couple who are snowed in a cabin together. With no tv, internet or distractions. The steamy scenes in this one is enough to melt the ice trapping them in that cabin! What else can they do?

Intended for an 18+ audience.

2.5 Belfie Stars

 photo belfie_zps61ecxilx.jpg

As Sawyer was making his three day trek into civilisation to get supplies he stumbles upon what he thinks is a wounded bear cub. Little did he know a cub would've been easier to deal with.

Ashley's parents never loved her, to busy cooking meth in the family bathroom to care. All through school she got bullied for being disadvantaged. Ashley swears never to be that girl again, she finds her escape and acceptance in instagram, thriving on the amount of likes and attention her pictures were getting. This becomes her life as she becomes a social media phenomenon, think Kim Kardashian with the staged 'Belfies' and all.

 photo tweetthatshit_zpss91q9bk1.gif

Ashley finds herself engaged to some rich preppy guy, living the highlife on vacation at a luxurious ski resort in the woods. Everything's fantastic until she stumbles across something that her drunk mind can't comprehend, so she runs off into a snow storm with nothing but a fur coat and a bikini.

 photo asnowstorm_zpslcm9bwyi.gif

So this story had so much promise and I really liked the beginning and Sawyer was the hot lumberjack I expected. For me their time stuck in the cabin got boring and just dragged on so I found myself skimming it.

Unfortunately this story overall did not make the grade for me. But:

A belfie (a selfie of your butt) that's what she's famous. Then she catches her fiancee with her sister and runs off into the woods where she's rescued by the woodsman. Insta-love and then a misunderstanding sends them apart. Happily ever after with a sweet epilogue.

update - ARC of updated and revised book
Mr. Cleveland has updated this book. It now has a new title called Gone Wild, which I don't like. I think the original title is better. This is better than the original, Ashley don't annoy me near as much as she did in the first version. It's still just a three star read for me.

Ashley is part of this generation and fancies herself a bit like the Kardashians. Ashley lives for the perfect photos and has a huge following on Instagram; she is an Instagram model/influencer. She is also engaged to Ben - a Poker champion. On the night they are celebrating their engagement with friends, Ashley discovers her foster sister Kate and Ben bumping uglies and is about to learn this has been going on for months. Ashley runs away and ends up suffering hypothermia and is rescued by Sawyer who has destined himself to live a life of hermit and reclusiveness. He couldn't leave Ashley to die and takes her to a cabin in the woods. They end up snowed in as a massive blizzard has hit. During this time we get to see a nicer side and less celebrity orientated and spoilt side of Ashley, and we learn about Sawyer and what drove him to his lifestyle and why he hates everything social media and the internet. As the pair spend more time together, we read as they hook up and have chemistry fueled romantic fling. What will happen though when Ashley is rescued, and it is time to go back to her "real world." Will she go back to Ben or will she discover that it is Sawyer that she loves and will she be able to give up the world of social media for true love? Find out in Saved by the Woodsman by Eddie Cleveland. I have to say I enjoyed this book as I was a little worried as it is a male author, and sometimes when you read males writing romance - their guy humour comes through the pages a tad to strongly . However Eddie's writing did not show a gender bias.

Semi-spoiler alert!

Overall, I liked this. Even though I almost drowned in the downpour of 'cock' and 'pussy'...PLEASE!!! CAN ONE OF YOU BRILLIANT WRITERS COME UP WITH SOME NEW WORDS??? To me, these two words ain't sexy, and to read them by the dozens is *BARF*. (A few times is okay. Cock-pussy-cock-pussy-cock-pussy...NO).

Anyway...with the insta-lust aside - I appreciated the growth of the characters, particularly with the h, Ashley. She started off as one annoying, fake, self-centered brat. When one learns of her past and her horrible childhood, one can give her some slack. To see her turn into more or less an 'earth mother' type seemed a bit of a stretch though. Sawyer had his issues, but as usual per main male characters in romances, he was more of a likeable, sympathetic character to begin with. Him thinking that he was gonna' rock her world in bed - never mind not having sex in over four years - seemed a bit unrealistic. I would think that the poor guy would be more nervous.
Still - I enjoyed this book, and may read more of the author's work.

DNF 20%

What did the woodsman see in the heroin? I don't know. She acts like a brainless spoiled teenager. I guess that's the point of instalove but there did not seem to be much chemistry either.

I usually rate DNF but I am in a reading slump right now and it might just be me. So I am giving this book the benefit of the doubt and won't rate it.

Have you ever gotten so sick of social media and the shallowness it breeds? Well, my man Sawyer's family was killed over some stupid fake news on the Internet. He lost everything and decided society wasn't for him. He went off grid and built a luxurious chalet in the woods far away from people. It's so far that it takes him 3 days to walk to the local town for supplies quarterly. One of those supply runs changes his life forever.

Ashley is the typical 20 something socialite on the surface. She makes a living posting pictures of her biggest asset, her behind, on Instagram. She is engaged to a rich brat who made his money from playing poker and is surrounded by shallow people who don't really like her. When she catches her horrible fiancé giving it to her foster sister at their engagement celebration, she takes off into the wood. In her drunken haze, she runs out into the snowy night wearing the bikini she was donning in the hot tub, a full length fur coat w/ matching hat and boots. Not exactly dress code for a blizzard.

Mistaken for a rabid bear, she almost dies at the hands of Sawyer. Good thing he looked before shooting. Sawyer helps her, despite his better judgement and regrets it immediately. He is drawn to her, but hates her lifestyle. The two are stuck together in a rundown cabin they are using for shelter against the cold snowstorm.

Eventually they fall for each other and neither wants her to return to her former life. I love how the writer reveals Ashley's depth of character and how Sawyer falls head over heels for her. There is a small issue when she returns to society days later, to tell everyone she is not dead, like they assumed. I won't spoil it for you except to say there is a HEA to this one. Great read. I stayed up till 4:30 in the morning so I could finish it. Plus I have a thing for hot lumberjacks. Lol

Today's Headline: Cyber-Star Finds Man Off-Line

I absolutely love the story concept. One of the many Internet princesses finds, completely by accident, the love and attention she craves in the arms of the one man in the world without WiFi or a big screen TV. Her delicate, city girl sensibilities are totally freaked by lack of shower and the idea of her dinner recently having been running through the woods. Other than the millions of followers and her giant diamond engagement ring I totally related to Ashley; including her desire to feel secure. I LOVED this story. I loved Sawyer's back story that makes him much more complicated than the usual idea of a "Grizzly Adams" type.
I do wish the book had some better proofreading. Too many spelling and grammar errors and even once Ben is mistakenly called Dan. For someone anal, like myself, it was a little distracting.

I'm not going to lie....I chose this read simply because I was doing a reading challenge and needed a book written by a male author and saw this was free on Amazon. Viola - perfect fit.
This is an insta lust turning to love story between two completely social opposites - one living completely of the grid due to personal tragedy cause by social media and the other looking for acceptance and love via social media.
This story actually turned out better than I expected it to be. It really highlights some of the negative of social media and had real character growth with our h, Ashley. I loved that I got an epilogue with a HEA.

Overall not a bad read.

Very Cute

3.5 Stars. The book ended on a note that echoes how I wish my life could be. I suppose any introverted reader might feel the same. The naughty parts were medium OK, and the story was predictable. This book is a pleasant way to spend a cold and windy afternoon.

While I love a good love done wrong over come the odds story, this one just wasn't me. Author did well, just nor for me

This is my second book by Eddie and I heart him. He is a new fave of mine!

Ashley was like super annoying until I found out why she is the way she is.

And Sawyer, mmm rugged woodsman dreamboat.

I loved their story, seeing how two opposite people can come together and be what is best and what the other needs.
I received an arc.

Lost and stranded in a snow storm with a stranger has never been so good.

Eddie Cleveland skillfully constructed another stand-out story about two souls whose past haunt their present life and, if not careful, will damn them to a future of loneliness. This is Eddie’s forte when it comes to his craft; he builds such strong backstories to pull at the heartstrings, that the reader can’t help but understand the decisions and paths his characters have taken when we meet them, nor can they help but fall in love with the journey as they come to grips with who they can become.

Saved by the Woodsman is no different. In this case, Eddie Cleveland is able to turn the shallow “belfie” taking social-media starlet, Ashley, into a character with strength, substance, and a bit of grit. It is her determination to open the lines of communication with the grizzly man who saved her, to open up, to trust, and to finally reveal her past with this man as they work to survive the storm that has trapped them, that allows the story to progress into something beautiful and romantic.

Sawyer has his own demons, and a solid wall around his heart he has worked hard to keep firmly in place. This is why he has chosen a life of solitude off the grid. But when he stumbles across the beautiful stranger lost in the woods, he can’t help but be attracted to her. Yet, there is something deeper than simply her curves and amazing looks. But how can he allow himself to get anywhere close to someone who is completely engrossed in the world of social media, especially when it ruined his family? Sawyer, however, has a deeper heart and a strength of character that will not let himself turn his back. He is the alpha male who still cares and does what is right.

As the two continue their time together, their instant attraction build to something deeper. They begin to open up to one another, to trust one another enough to reveal the demons of the past that seem to hinder their communication. The emotional ups and downs of this story allow for the pace to move quickly as the two banter and entertain the readers with their childish moments. But ultimately, this is a romantic story that is captivating and will pull at the heartstrings as readers cheer for the HEA for both Ashley and Sawyer. And never fear, Eddie Cleveland has added the level of heat and chemistry you have come to expect from him.

Saved by the Woodsman is an amazing and entertaining read that will have you turning pages and enjoying every last moment spent stranded in the rundown cabin as the storm rages outside.

Blurb: Ashley lives and breathes social media. Her goals are to get the most likes on her pictures. When Ashley finds out things about her fiance she leaves and runs off into the woods. Here she meets Sawyer. He saves her from freezing to death. Since he learns of Ashley's obsession with social media it irritates him. The only thing is he has feelings that he can't explain for her. Ashley also feels the same. Will they give in to their feelings? Will Ashley make it back to her world of social media?

What a great book that stresses the fact that social addiction is real. You're not living if all you want is to take the perfect selfie for social media.
Anywho, this book was awesome. I love the whole mountain men to the rescue type. Big, rugged, and sexy man...yum! At first I did not care for Ashley because i know of too many people like her. People who are obsessed with themselves and social media. I'm so glad she was able to see that life is so much better when you give up the phone and internet and just live. Also, the sex was smoking hott!

This is my first book by Eddie and now I need to read his others.

This was a surprising read! I wasn’t quite sure how I would enjoy the book based off the “Kardashian” like characters were portrayed at first. I am so glad that I kept reading! Once our “Woodsman” enters the scene, the book changes pace. Please keep that in mind as you start reading!
This was another intriguing read by Eddie. It was a fast read but provided a great escape into another world. The main characters are enjoyable to read about. There is a fair amount of heart break and sadness as the characters reveal more about themselves the more you read. It’s not all sunshine and rainbows.
The scenes that are described in this story are described like a winter wonderland in my dreams! The snow storm that occurs in this story is the type of storm that I wish I could live through. It was like a dream reading about the scenery and the surroundings! He does an excellent job describing the cabin and its detail, inside and out.
Just as all his other stories, Eddie doesn’t skimp on detail when he writes the sexy scenes. There are several to be read and are scorching hot. They might even make you blush. You’ve been warned!
I would absolutely mark this to be read. It was enjoyable and a nice escape from reality.

This is the story of Ashley and Sawyer. In all honestly I started this book a couple of weeks ago and just decided to finish it yesterday. We have what seems like a girl all about herself and having millions of followers on instagram, with her posting pictures of her butt. Yep, her butt, lol. She's away at a resort with her fiance and foster sister and another couple, only to walk out on her fiance and foster sister having sex. She runs away wearing a bikini and a coat. Did I mention that the temperature outside is freezing?
Needless to say she ends up passing out in a snow storm and our resident chef turned into reclusive alpha lumberjack, Sawyer, finds her and decided against his better judgement to help her and get her to safety. They end up holed up in a small cabin and try to make the most of their time as they are stuck waiting for the storm to blow over. They have not sex and fall in love, in a matter of days. During that time you find out Ashley isn't as self absorbed as she seems and that the reason why Sawyer is in seclusion is for a very good reason. In the end she does return back to the resort because they have sent a search party looking for her fearing she may be dead. She confronts the ex-fiance and her and Sawyer reunite only a few hours after she was found. They live HEA. 3.5 stars.

Ashley is an instagram addict. She lives for followers who are only interested in postings of her voluptuous rear end. She stumbles unto her fiance having sex with her stepsister and loses it. She bolts in the forest and is soon lost in a bad snow storm. Sawyer finds her and here is when things get interesting.

Sawyer is living of the grid because of trauma in his past and losing his entire family due to social media lies and so he trusts nothing and no one associated with it. He's headed to town for supplies when stumbles across Ashley, after almost shooting her, mistaking her for a bear because of the fur coat and hat she is wearing.

He takes her to an abandoned cabin nearby to revive her as she was nearly frozen to death. During their time together they develop a bond that leads to white hot sex that will melt your kindle. She the delicate media darling and he the rough bearded woodsman. A great read with wounded hearts, distrust, lust and longing for love. They each have a sad story to tell which breaks your heart and have you hoping for a happily ever after for two people from such different background. An enjoyable read.

Ashley is an Instagram star who just loves the attention and taking photos of her butt for her fans ends up discovering her fiance is cheating on her with her foster sister (tragic), she is so confused and mad that she ends up running into the woods with a snowstorm coming in nothing but a bikini under her coat(tragic), the woodsman finds her and saves her, but she is brat about it until she starts feeling for him. So much smut and graphic sex, literally so much of it!

I thought this story was the same as Virgin for the Woodsman until I discovered that this one was first on the series, basically, the atmosphere is the same, the characters and the plot was slightly different, I liked the character development especially the female character because she changed one-eighty degrees, my issues with this book is again the character's thirst for each other when they only just met and I quote Ashley "My body is begging for this guy to be less of a gentleman" again Eddie is making you believe that love can be physical with some weird sparkle that hit them both at the same time for each other, I liked how he switches POVs between the characters in his stories but that's about it.

Highly entertaining with great relationship development

We meet Ashley who is somewhat spoiled and over concerned with her social media hits. We also learn that this is in response to her early upbringing as she grew up in squalor. Catching her fiancé with her foster sister has her running out into the weather with no preparation.

Our hero is Sawyer. An incident caused him to leave civilization behind and live as a recluse in the woods. During his quarterly supply run he encounters Ashley; almost frozen to death. Blizzard conditions have them taking refuge in an abandoned cabin where they get up close and personal and an amazing relationship takes place away from the real world where they count only on each other for survival.

When the weather breaks – will Ashley want to return to the city, or can these two find a compromise?
Touching, humorous, with a love a reading and books woven through the story-line, this will highly entertain!!

Eddie Cleveland brings you a story of two people who couldn't be more opposite and throws them together during a snowstorm in a secluded cabin with no escape.... At first I thought the story would be predictable- the self proclaimed hermit, Sawyer, and the social media darling, Ashley, together like this, with no way to escape. But as the story moves forward, the reader gets to know these characters as they get to know each other. As we watch Ashley and Sawyer deal with their tight quarters we realize there is more to each of them... they each have a past that has shaped them into the people they have become. Dealing with the situation that placed them WAY outside their comfort zones, it was great to see them both have such a positive effect on each other. I would recommend this book for any fans of romance with some added touches of steamy moments!

Ashley is always running from something. The last few years it's been her painful past. Today she's running from a hurtful scene she wasn't supposed to witness. Unfortunately, she runs into the woods in just a wet swimsuit and a fur coat on the eve of a huge snow storm.

Sawyer's running too. He find solace in his solitary existence in the woods, eschewing all human contact and even postponing his supply runs past the point of need. Good thing, though, because he's trudging through the snow to pick up much-needed supplies when he finds Ashley collapsed in the woods.

What might have been a formulaic story turns out to have remarkable depth. Ashley and Sawyer both take steps towards their true selves via their encounter. Plus, the sex scenes are hot, the bad guy is absolutely deplorable, and there's a few turns along the way to make it a page-turning read. Definitely recommend it.

Great story about a young lady who has experienced a world of losses in her short life; and a man who had his world shattered also in the past. Circumstance finds them needing each other to survive, but can it last? You'll have to read Eddie's latest book to find out!
"It fills my soul to know there are people out there who care about me. Who love me."
"She's not even trying, and she looks like a fantasy that no amount of photo manipulation could replicate."
"I can feel the slow, sensual warmth pour from him into me, spreading through my body like the heat of the liquor we drank last night."
I really enjoyed reading this story and imagining myself lost in the woods with no cell service or internet. It has become such a habit to always have your phone in your hand.

A woman who is a social media darling becomes stranded in a snow storm after she finds her fiance with her foster sister. Man who abandons society to live in the woods after the death of his family finds her in the snow. They end up in a cabin together where she has to find her way and he needs to deal with his grief.

I love these books because there's NO WAY IN FREAKING HELL that she'd be rescued by a hottie who is about her age, with all his teeth and proper use of the English language in the forest in Colorado. If it were me, I'd end up with a geezer with no teeth who smelled like cheese and made me his slave.

There's been a lot of bearded hotties who live off the grid kinds of books lately. This one's theme had to do with the impact of social media on society. LOL.

I love a man in flannel! This was a great read that didn't take me too long (I'm not a fan of books I can't read all in one sitting) and it scratched all the right itches. Reclusive mountain man, heroine that isn't totally obnoxious, off grid life-- a recipe for win!

The characters do have some pretty profound histories and I can see how a lot of readers might want that to be expanded for a longer read, but I think Eddie did a perfect job of balancing just enough back ground to give the read an idea of who they're dealing with while making sure to keep the focus on the characters' FUTURE, not their past.

I loved it.

Ashley is a scarred woman from her childhood who now uses social media as a way to make herself feel better. After being betrayed by her foster sister and fiancé she runs into the forest and gets lost. Sawyer is a man hiding from his past and all the pain it carries. He finds Ashley and saves her from certain death in the snow. This was a great short and quick read. Both characters had baggage that made them both weary of each other. I liked this book very much and look forward to reading more by this author. I voluntarily received an ARC in exchange for a honest review.

The story was good

Sawyer a man that lives alone in the wood who had issues with the internet society because of his past which is very dark. No wonder he hates the internet and how bad it could mislead people. Then there's Ashley, a self-centered girl who became famous because of Instagram and who also had a dark twisted past that made her yearns for acceptance in the world.

The story had a very interesting plot and a good story and background details. Sadly, this was not just for me. I am glad that they had a HEA and everything work out well and Ashley got over her self of trying to get accepted by strangers and realized she just need one person to truly accept her. I also really hate her ex.

Very good read!

I loved the story line & it flowed well. I didn't have to re-read passages to understand it. It had some very steamy love scenes. I will continue to read more books written by Mr. Cleveland. But I would like to see a bit more passion throughout the story. I really want to feel what the characters are feeling. Example: I didn't really feel the pain that Sawyer created when he wouldn't let Ashley explain about the picture. But over all well worth the read & good book.

Love, love this story

I read alot....have read a lot of authors. Some you read and forget...some you search for and wait for the next one. That's Eddie Cleveland. These books are hot, sex is great but it's more than that. I like the depth of the characters. Their backgrounds are intense but realistic and who they evolve to is great. This book is a story of two characters, in pain, who come together in an unusual way. Sawyer and Ashley are engaging characters, who have a chemistry you can feel come off the pages. It's a great journey I encourage you to take. Enjoy!!!

Wow, Eddie Cleveland just gets better and better. This book is a Fun, Hot, Sexy, quick read. Mr. Cleveland had me at the first page and I could not put my kindle down until I finished the last page. The story line and characters are well developed and relatable. I can see both Ashley and Sawyer as people in today's world. To find out how Sawyer saves Ashley you will have to read this book. I highly recommend this book.
