Going I to the 2020-2021 school year it's going to be important for teachers to be familiar with different pedagogy both online and off.

I started this book off with a lot of teacher doubt; "I don't have the scheduled time", "I don't have the curriculum space", "they haven't encountered my students" and it took a real shift in myself to open up my mind to the possibilities presented in this book. Afterall, these strategies clearly worked for them so with some fancy footwork they should be adaptable to me as well.

The focus on student-centered learning very much appeals me. I loved the guiding principal of, "we must teach kids, not curriculum."

While a lot of the classroom set up put forward in this book isn't going to work in a CoVid classroom the foundational ideas in this book can be universally applied. I have dog-eared and sticky notes so many pages that I am really excited to kick this year off with a new approach to reading and writing in my classroom.
