When someone tries to kidnap his mate, Peter Tank sees red. No one messes with what's his and gets away with it...
Chad thinks it's a little weird when Peter sends a bodyguard to pick him up at the airport instead of one of the usual drivers, but not that weird. Peter is often a little overzealous where Chad's safety is concerned. He's learned how to pick his battles, and having an overqualified driver is not one of them. Except this time Peter isn't being overprotective. Chad is being kidnapped. Hours later when he's being yanked out of the car by a furious Peter, the kidnapper sitting dead in the front seat, Chad realizes that however overprotective he thought Peter was, it's nothing compared to what's coming...
(This 51,000 word book is the sequel to Claimed: An Evan's Alphas Prequel)
For a limited time a copy of The Alpha's Human is included as a bonus with a purchase of this book.

Peter needed to get a grip. It would be a mistake to think that he wasn't still affected by the kidnapping attempt--or that he had his instincts as firmly under control as he would like. He didn't. The only reason he was able to stay calm at the moment was the fact that his penthouse was a veritable fortress and that he had someone he trusted going after the people who tried to take his mate. Remove either of those two conditions and he would lose it. He had to be careful. Chad was submissive in bed, but right now Peter's instincts were telling him to claim him as thoroughly as possible--to show both Chad and the world that Peter owned him. He wanted to bite, bruise and mark him. He wanted to smother Chad in his scent until the only thing anyone who came within ten feet him could smell was him.

I’ve read almost everything D. J. Heart has written. I love her books and I love the way she writes. The narrative just flows.
However, the kidnapping theme that is so prevent in her books it gives them a sameness that’s a little tiring. Especially the Evan and his alpha’s books. Oh well, I still will continue reading everything she writes that I can get my hands on. I love her Alpha males like Peter and everyone they dominate.
Pretty good prequel. I just realised I had read the series compilation back in 2016 but apparently have no recollection of it so imma gonna reread it. But this prequel was pretty good. It’s heavy on the BDSM elements and did have lots of sex but it also had a solid storyline which was part romance part whodunit. And I kept guessing the wrong guy! Lol. Although, the whodunit part isn’t an active investigation more of a you know someone’s maybe perhaps coming but can’t figure out who or when.
Another story featuring Peter and Chad. I fell in love with them in Omega: The Complete Series and then went back and read Claimed and now this book. Two alphas together is so hot, especially when one (Peter) totally dominates the other (Chad).
The story vaguely reminded me of Evan's Alpha book 2. The sex was hot as usual but to much of the same storyline. Also how can you have two prequels???
"Taken" thrusts readers back into the intense, alpha-dominated world of Peter Tank and Chad Brand, where loyalty, passion, and primal instincts converge in a thrilling narrative of protection, love, and unwavering resolve. This story picks up the threads of their evolving relationship, testing the bounds of their connection through danger and the instinctual drive to safeguard what is most precious.
The plot centers around a kidnapping attempt on Chad, an event that catalyzes the story into a high-stakes exploration of protection, possession, and the raw intensity of Peter's feelings for Chad. The author skillfully uses this crisis to peel back layers of Peter's character, revealing a depth of emotion and a ferocity in protection that perhaps even he hadn't fully acknowledged.
Chad, on the other hand, experiences the ordeal with a blend of fear, surprise, and an awakening to the depths of Peter's commitment and affection. His reaction to the event and to Peter's subsequent protectiveness serves as a poignant exploration of trust, vulnerability, and the dynamics of power and care within their relationship.
The pacing of "Taken" is tight and engaging, propelling the reader through the story with a sense of urgency that mirrors the characters' experiences. The author's writing style is vivid and descriptive, capable of capturing the high adrenaline moments of action and the subtler, tender moments with equal proficiency.
Good, though Peter's kink is off-setting at the best of times.
Chad and the occasional tenderness he evokes our of Peter keeps this story tolerable. While Peter loves Chad, his refusal to acknowledge Aiden as a threat to Chad as well as an outright bully is disheartening, and Peter should be grateful Chad's love outweighs his distrust of Aidan, even though Aidan has no after clue how to tone down his offensiveness. There are people in this world who lack the humanity, morality and character to be ethical and decent and Aidan is definitely one of those kinds of people. The Alpha oozes slime and bigotry. Ick. So, other than the demeaning kinky sex Peter leans toward and nasty, icky Aidan, the book was okay. I give it these and a half stars.
I liked this book. I prefer the relationship between peter and Chad than the threesome. I didn't understand why the story was only half of the book. It would have been best to integrate the last part with the first prequel book. I was disappointed with the "kidnap thing" with the background of peter I'll would've preferred the kidnap part to be more difficult than 3 pages. I think the sex scenes was the best part of the book.

Less going on than the first prequel. A transitional book with some hotness. One thing I love about Heart is that she makes the alpha an ambiguous figure. Uberdominant Peter is constantly pushing Chad to submit more deeply. Is this hot or creepy/inappropriate? Or both? Ditto Peter's possessiveness and control issues. Is he even a nice guy? Are nice guys boring, so it doesn't matter how amoral Peter's been, right up to the moment he's redeemed (?) by his love for Chad?
3.5 stars, some drama for this second prequel. After the start of the relationship this feels a little more relaxed and I like that, the "prey" play was nice to read but the drama plot was not anything out of this world, still a very good read with just the two alphas. I would recommend the author to people liking poly relationships if the main series books keeps this course but my journey with Peter and Chad ends here.
I very much love this author but this is a bit of a disappointment. The characters are extremely shallow and the plot is weak. Actually, I think for the first time ever, I felt both the author’s protagonists were complete idiots. That said, if you like the author, it’s worth a read.
I was right at the end of book 1 when I thought that it would probably get too much for me so I'd skip the series. Considering the BDSM grocery list that we got with the sex scenes later in this book yeah I'm good. Also how Chad is supposed to survive in that environment is a mystery to me. For someone who was supposed to work in security he is easily tricked.
SO DISSAPOINTED. The initial setup which is of a domineering alpha rescuing his lover from a kidnap attempt is so rife with kinky possibility. I expected get at lease ONE angrypossesiverelieved sex scene. Alas, it was not to be.
Nice gihapon! Ngita kos next book kalisod bya pangitaon ato oist
Peter and Chad are so devoted to each other -makes me love them more after book one. These guys are hot. Great main characters and a entertaining story. The bonus story, a the Alphas Human, about Cade and Kyle was freaking 4.5 stars of greatness. A must read. Charo
5 This book was good as a stand-alone, but I thought that it was GREAT as a deepening of Peter & Chad's story. I really like that these prequel books highlight the building up of the relationship between Peter & Chad, and don't just focus on the kink (but I'm very happy to read DJ's kink scenes too).
Peter is masterfully written as an overwhelmingly dominant, and slightly sadistic, alpha without falling into sexual predator territory. This is beautifully contrasted in Aiden's character, who is just as dominant, though more sadistic, but who has repeatedly shown us that he is very much a predator and really has almost no redeeming qualities.
Chad seemed to be very naive in this book that he expected his life to continue on in the same vein as before he was mated to Peter. His relationship with Peter automatically means that he would be a target for anyone looking to influence Peter.
My final thought after finishing this book was one of amazement that after this, Aiden still felt that he would be able to successfully divert Peter from both Chad & Evan. He really was living in his own delusions! And this book makes the events in Evan's Alphas so much more delicious!
I liked getting to see Chad and Peter as they are before Evan enters their lives. Some things that occur in Evan's Alphas make more sense now. The harsher elements of their BDSM lifestyle were only briefly acknowledge but in this prequel we get a much more in depth look. They enjoy some of the more extreme elements and both thoroughly enjoy it. This touches on humiliation, impact and other play that may be hard to read for some, but this is two consenting adults that both have agreed to and enjoy with one another. I enjoy the writing style and characters that the author creates. My only wish was that the ending didn't feel so rushed. Adult read
The kidnapping kind of resolved a little too easily for me. Plus that one scene where Chad takes that phone call and gets tricked shows his innocence (or stupidity? naivety?) again, just made me facepalm and want to bang my head somewhere. I think Chad could've been written better so he didn't seem like such a damsel in distress or TSTL-type character.
Otherwise, this was great and I also reread this many times.

I think I enjoyed this a little less than the other books by this author. After a while they tend to be abit samey. Its still smutty and there are some cute moments.
