“Roses are red, Daisy is you, I heard you came back, and I did too.”
“Lucas’ lips are like a sleeve of Oreos: you know you shouldn’t have them at all, but you can’t stop with just one taste.”

“He tastes like a guilty pleasure, one that will undoubtedly sour once I’m alone again. We are enemies. Foes. And yet when Lucas takes my waist in his large hands and rolls his hips with mine, I feel like we’re working together to build something. Mutually assured destruction.”

“Roses are red.
Daisy is you,
I heard you came back,
and I did too.”
“You listen here, Lucas Thatcher. I hate you, but you're going to kiss me. You're going to kiss me and you're not going to stop.”

“You've been so blinded by the competition you've built up in your own head, you can't see what's right in front of you-what's been there the whole fucking time.”
“I am the Annie Oakley to his Frank Butler and I firmly believe that anything he can do, I can do better.”
“Roses are red, Daisy is you, I heard you came back, and I did too.”
“Can you kill someone with a kiss? I think that’s what he’s doing—slaying me with his mouth.”
The last two people who knew Lucas and Daisy were going to end up together forever were Lucas and Daisy.

❝I love you, which seems crazy because up until about four days ago, I really thought I hated you. But when you think about it, love and hate aren’t so very different, right? To love someone is to strive to be a better person for them, and isn’t that what our hateful little competition has been about the whole time?❞
❝It was never about the war and it was never about beating you. I just wanted to have you any way I could.❞

’In light of the sheer longevity of our rivalry, people always want to know what terrible event had transpired to precipitate it all. The truth is, we’ve always been this way. I am the Annie Oakley to his Frank Butler and I firmly believe that anything he can do, I can do better’
’We’re like antisocial butterflies that never made it out of the cocoon.’(me and my sis)
”Just look the other way will you? I’m trying to finish reading this chart.”
“I’ve already gone over it. Mr. Nichols. 58. Routine annual exam. Can I look at you again?”
“He didn’t mention any complaints on the intake form? And no. Nothing changes between us. What happened in that exam room stays in that exam room.”
“No complaints. He’s fit as a fiddle. I agree, the exam room is off-limits, so how about you meet me in my office at lunch instead? I’d like a round two, and from the way you’ve been eyeing me all morning, I know you would too.”

He reaches the door first and I predict he will step inside and lock it behind him. Instead, he steps back and holds it open for me.
I know it’s just an act. Chivalry is dead. Lucas killed it.

What's love got to do, got to do with it
What's love but a sweet old fashioned notion
What's love got to do, got to do with it
Who needs a heart when a heart can be broken
It may seem to you
That I'm acting confused
When you're close to me
If I tend to look dazed
I've read it someplace
I've got cause to be
There's a name for it
There's a phrase that fits
But whatever the reason
You do it for me
“Listen, Romeo, I'm only using you. I need you to fall for me. I want you to hand your heart over willingly do I can break it. That way, you'll leave and give me the practice.“ – Daisy –
„What a coincidence, Daisy. I'm only using you. I want to fuck with you. Make you fall in love with me. So that when I break your heart, you'll leave and give me the practice. And believe me, I really want to fuck with you.“ - Lucas -
What are we fighting for? The job? Hometown hero? Over the years I've lost track, and I never really minded because for me, it was never about the war and it was never about beating you. I just wanted to have you any way I could.
