Good Fortune Ranch #2

Fortune's Return

Rate this book
Ryan Putnam has lost everything. Laid off from teaching high school and dumped by his lawyer boyfriend, he has nowhere else to go but his childhood home – the Good Fortune ranch. He plans to take the summer to regroup and start over. He never expects to be smitten with a cowboy. Especially not a cowboy like Teo Mendez, who is everything Ryan’s ex-boyfriend is not.

Four years after his wife's death, Teo Mendez has returned to what he loves the most – working the land. He believes the Good Fortune ranch is the perfect place to build a new life for his son, Antonio. When his boss's brother Ryan shows up to work, the other man’s haunted eyes reminds Teo of everything he has lost as well. So he offers the only thing he can—his friendship. But it doesn't take long for Ryan to reawaken long dormant emotions and desires.

Ryan doesn’t intend to find a relationship. Teo doesn’t want to complicate his life with a fling. What they have between them, however, is too powerful to ignore.

Contains graphic m/m interaction, including oral and anal sex.

After he’s been put aside by his ex and also loses his job, Ryan returns to his childhood home the Good Fortune ranch. His brother and his wife and children live there.
Ryan loves the life of the ranch, he doesn’t only get back to his family he also finds a friend, Teo.

Teo works and lives on the land of the ranch with his son Antonio. Teo is a big man, gentle, he moves gracefully, Ryan can’t look away.
Ryan and Teo spend a lot of time together and Teo isn’t straight as Ryan thought.
They start something beautiful, their first intimate time… omg it was everything, sensual af!! All quite detailed described, I enjoyed every second wow! There are more sexy encounters to enjoy!

Both men are mature, reasonable, friendly, passionate, intense, seductive, highly sensual, honest, with the best intentions. Both are serious about what they want with the other.
Their characters were wonderfully developed and nicely layered, and there is a story to tell.

It’s not a sensational or rollercoaster story, but it’s very entertaining, comfortable, and quite pleasurable. I enjoyed it and could read on and on about them, there isn’t a dull moment to find. Teo’s son and Ryan’s made the story even more complete.
A wonderfully written, solid story with lovable characters. There is some palpable hurt, and misunderstanding, which made it a bit more exciting.
Overall a mellow, easygoing story with great characters!

I liked the first 3/4 of this book, and then lost interest during the last 1/4. I think the "conflict" was a little too obvious and silly and the character's reactions a bit over-the-top.

Ryan is a math teacher without a school. He was dismissed from his last work since there was a staff cut. After this, his lover since eight years dumped him cause they have incompatible aspirations: means that John, the ex, wants a more successful man as a lover and wants to move in a bigger city, and Ryan instead wants a family and remains near his native ranch.

Without a work and an home, he moves on that ranch: Clay, his brother, lives there with his family and he also engaged a ranch hand, Teo, a single father; him and Tony, his son, could be the family Ryan wants, and when he discovers that Teo is bisexual (even if monogamous), Ryan thinks to have found the perfect man. Teo is a solid and quite man, all work and family; he is gentle and caring, he works hard and loves harder. But he is also a man who pretends a lot from his lover and a stupid mistake by Ryan can ruin everything.

The book is pretty long and flows smoothly. There aren't many bitter surprises or sudden events, all the story is more on the characters than the plot. And the characters are simple men, earth men like the setting of the story: a ranch, a small town, family interiors.

Ryan is open and ready to love. He is not a man with great expectations, he only wants a good man beside him. He probably would be still with his former lover, even if he probably didn't love him so much, if not for the man who dumped him: Ryan likes the passion and the sex, but he values more a steady relationship and the comfort of a mate.

Teo is a good father. First of all he is a father. And he also values a lot friendship and honor. He likes Ryan, but he fears the man only wants a rebounding man, and Teo is not for casual relationship: he can afford it, with a son to raise, and he also doesn't have time to waste.

As I said the story is simple but good. It left me a sense of warm and comfort. It's not a fast-paced plot, it's more a slow and quite tale, probably like the ranch life it decipts. If you like this setting, you will like this story.

I enjoyed the story and could accept the conflict as believable, even with a "train-wreck" feel to it from step one. It made me smile and wipe away a few tears. Worth reading.

This one has been lurking in "to-read" for quite a while as I just wasn't in the mood for cowboys. Or ranch-hand and schoolteacher in this case. There was a feeling of deja-vue in places as I read, so maybe I did read it when I first got it. But the feeling wasn't really strong enough for that. Maybe it was just the ranch layout - is there a generic ranch design?

I do enjoy books by this author duo. Fortune’s Return is a heartfelt romance between Teo and Ryan. After the death of his wife, Teo and his son live and work on the ranch. Ryan returns home to the ranch, which is now run by his brother, after a job loss and bad breakup. I fell right into the story and it was a pleasant journey. Not melodramatic, just a nice storyline with a good romance. I liked the characters including the supporting cast. Some hot, smexy lovin’. Overall a good read.

2,5

3 stars for the first part of the book and 2 stars for the part where the MCs have a dramatic fight over... nothing. And at times the good sentiments of everybody were overly underlined, I almost expected even the bad ex-boyfriend to show some remorse.

This is an AWESOME m/m romance with all the elements that make romance worth reading. I recommend it.
