Sexy Bad Neighbor

Rate this book
What happens when your neighbor hires you a stripper?

It starts one hell of a prank war. A war that involves goats, phallic chandeliers, stolen kisses in the rain, strawgasms, and eating out on the kitchen counter.

A war that could damn well involve two hearts and a plan. Her plan doesn’t involve falling in love. His life doesn’t involve plans.

This could be a problem.

Misti Murphy writes sweet and funny, sometimes frustrating and always swoony romantic comedies with just a teensy bit of angst.

When she's not writing she lives in an imaginary world full of happy humans, glitter, and unicorns.

Not that being a mother of four, plus four fur kids isn't practically the same thing. Except when they steal the Tim Tams.

(Kangaroos are practically unicorns, right?)

It was hilarious frenemies to lover novella complete with a kid (a baby goat)!
This was more about prejudice, insecurities and wrong assumptions.
Chloe thinks Paynter's a manwhore, Paynter thinks Chloe is a judgemental stuck up manhater bitch.
They have both been burnt before.
However because Chloe's career has suffered so directly because of the previous betrayal she was a little too reluctant (almost annoyingly) to let Paynter in.
But she was fiercely loyal and affectionate. Her feelings for spot and Paynter was almost crystal clear specially when Paynter's ex showed up.
All over it was a hilarious and refreshing read!

Chloe & Paynter have a chance meeting at a local bar where Chloe is meeting some other career oriented working women to socialize with. Chloe attempts to prove that Paynter is 'less than' as a man in front of the group of women by playing on the male bosses are 'pigs' angle. Paynter decides to get the upper hand by paying a male stripper to grind up against Chloe to embarrass her & embarrass he does. The next morning while looking into his back yard, Paynter realizes Chloe is his next door neighbor. Starting a pranking war between them trying to one up each other at every turn. Some how in the midst of all this madness to get the better of each other kissing becomes involved. They do their best to resist each other because each of them has had a recent bad break-up. Though they can't seem to stop ending up in each others arms & then finally into bed together. Upon awaking the next morning, Chloe is confronted with a reality she cannot allow to happen again & she runs from Paynter. Paynter is determined to find out what her problem is but she only wants to shut him out. Will Paynter be able to get to the bottom of the problem? Will Chloe ever be willing to discuss her problem with Paynter? Will these two ever find a way to come together?

Sexy Bad Neighbor is a playful & fun story about two people who have been hung out to dry by their most recent past relationships. They both don't know how to let go of the mistrust & contempt they feel for their respective exes to allow someone new a chance to prove they can be different. It take Chloe longer to get past this than Paynter but they both struggle. The pranks they play on each other are pretty creative & will give you a good laugh. And it is endearing how a lost baby goat becomes the glue that finally binds them...... good job Spot. This book is meant for mature readers.

CLEAN. NEVER RECOMMENDING!

The author ruins this book with antiquated gender stereotypes but the worst message is when the author uses the word clean to describe the male lead’s sti/std test results I’m out! That term implies and discriminates, disrespects, demeans and dismisses those reader’s who do have an sti/std. That word says those people are unclean. No thank you. Grow up author.
Lastly, the author writes the leads each performing oral sex before the male lead says he’s negative. The ignorance of this is 1. You can spread an std/sti orally; 2. sexual health is an important conversation that shouldn’t be had causally in the heat of the moment; 3. he says his test was negative she should just take him at his word?; and 4. She says nothing about if she’s been tested and her results. It’s a truly terrible, uninformed, biased message.

Paynter and Chloe.....

Sexy Bad Neighbor is my first book by both Misti Murphy and Tami Lund. I totally loved it! For a collaboration, I found perfect flow in the writing. The book itself was pretty steady to fast-paced. The back and forth banter, friendly and unfriendly, between Paynt and Chloe had me in tears. I will say that Paynt was a much better sport about the pranks than Chloe. However I have to give Chloe credit for her imagination. She was prudish but at the same time pretty damn funny.

Aside from the prank war.....

Chloe wants nothing more in life than to be successful at her job and in her life. She is a power hungry individual with a 'life plan.' Sadly for her, she is under the assumption that if she doesn't achieve her goals, she is a failure. Chloe set the bar for herself too high. The main reason for her take-no-prisioners attitude was because she was betrayed by the man that claimed to love her. For a while, I thought Chloe was haughty and rude and I didn't like her much. But thankfully by the end of the book she more than redeemed herself. It turned out that all she needed to feel good about herself was the heart of a good man.

Paynter.....Okay, I have never, ever come across that particular name before. As odd as I thought it was, it fit. Paynt was a drop-dead gorgeous, tech geek. His occupation may have stereotyped him as nerdy but I never felt he was. But the glasses?.....they worked! During Paynt's first moments in the book, he came off as cocky and smug. It wasn't long before I understood the motivation for his behavior towards Chloe. Let's face it though, she didn't make it easy for Paynt to behave.

What follows is a fun, sweet, sexy story. Yes very sexy. Lots of 'sexy.' I really loved this book. Paynt has three siblings that we were fortunate enough to meet. They each have distinct personalities. I hope the authors are planning to write their books because I would love to read them. The final secondary character I'd like to fondly mention is Spot. Actually Spot was more of a scene stealer. :) But you'll have to read Sexy Bad Neighbor for yourself to decide if you agree. ;)

Whilst this is a fun and frivolous book, it is also a really enjoyable and well written book. The hero and heroine are immensely likeable – Chloe is such a conflicted soul and clearly needs a confident man like Paynter to help her find her true self. Paynter is so caring and every time he seems about to give up on Chloe he sees something in her worth his effort.

On paper Chloe’s constant fluctuating of what she wants sounds like she would be an irritating character. But by seeing how she truly feels/worries when scenes are written from her POV, you can’t help but like her. The book is also written from Paynter’s POV which I felt helped the story flow and also gave me a better insight into their relationship.

The goat scenes near the end were just so heart-warming and gave me the fuzzy feel goods. The basic plot idea isn’t unique but the characters, depth of emotion, detailed story line and quality of writing work together to make this feel very different to many humdrum contemporary romances.

„Sexy Bad Neighbor” is a romance written by Misty Murphy and Tami Lund.

Chloe is a career-driven woman, who was burned in the past. Her life revolves around a plan - to become a partner in a company she works in. She didn’t plan to engage herself in a prank war with her sexy neighbor Paynter.
Paynter’s moving into a house he bought with his ex-girlfriend - Queen B. He hates women with plan, but there’s something he sees in Chloe. He’s quite sure, that there’s more to her than just her plan.

I enjoyed this story! It was engaging and hilarious. I laughed A LOT!
Characters were likable. I like my heroines strong and accomplished, although Chloe was a little bit judgmental, but I warmed up to her. Paynter is a great guy, too (and what a name! my autocorrect is trying to change it to a Painter every time, lol), but my favorite character is Spot!
Seriously though, this book was so much fun with a great romance and hot, sexy times!
Recommended!

This book was so well written - full of wit, humour and sarcasm - I was laughing out loud by the end of Chapter 1.
I absolutely loved the story, it was sweet and endearing but also hot and steamy at the same time.

I loved the pranks and how Paynter and Chloe were determined to out-do each other. But even though Chloe came across as a bit of a hardass at times, deep down she was loving the attention she received from Paynter.

Both of them were trying to overcome past hurts and betrayal and I could really relate to the emotions and struggles they were going through. I loved that when the exes reared their ugly heads that the authors didn't use lots of unnecessary angst - it made the whole story so much more enjoyable for me.

And I sooooooooo loved the little cutie who brought them closer together!! (No spoilers here!)

I also thought the secondary characters were very well developed and I would love to see Garrett, James and Ronnie get there own stories.........pretty please??

Here's possibly my favorite scene in the book:

“Yes, yes, yes.” My fingers fumble over the buttons on the coat, but I manage to get it over my shoulders, where it traps my arms for long moments, during which Paynt takes full advantage. Wrapping one arm around my waist, he bends me back while he leans forward and licks the exposed skin over the top of my camisole. The slight sense of helplessness ratchets my body temperature up several degrees until I’m breathing so heavily I’m afraid I sound like an asthmatic dog. Or a goat.

“Should we—should we go inside?” I manage to ask. “Spot.”

“Spot?”

“The goat.”

He stops teasing the tops of my breasts to glance over his shoulder at the animal, munching away at the grass at the edge of his deck.

“If you really want a threesome, I’d prefer another human.”

OMG this book was soo refreshingly funny I mean c'mon a phallic chandelier and a goat!!! You need to read this to understand. Chloe has her life planned out and it's all about her career she certainly didn't plan for her sexy hot neighbor to worm his way into her heart but that's exactly what he does the thing is will she allow herself to let him stay there? The sexy hot neighbor in question is Paynter he also has a plan for his future which is to avoid plans especially women with plans but what the heart wants the heart gets and it looks like his heart wants the woman with a plan next door.

What starts of as a chance meeting ending with a stripper is only the beginning pranks galore follow which often end in a passionate battle of tongues in other words they snog the face off each other. Will Chloe fully let her guard down and let Paynter in? What about her plan? Does Paynter even want go there? He didn't plan to fall for his sexy neighbor with a plan I mean he doesn't do plans or does he?

This was a really well written, funny, hot book with little angst. I'm all for angst but sometimes it's refreshing to just have a fun book.

The characters were brilliant and played off each other well and the prank war was epic!!!!

Chloe the stuck up suit who really has a heart of gold and paynter the laid back, goes with the flow and down to earth millionaire really were a match made in heaven, you could feel their chemistry wafting off the pages. the secondary characters helped make the story and I'm really hoping for James's book next

I was really hoping for some really playful banter with their pranks war but to be honest they weren't that great or very funny.

Chloe done my head in and came across superficial - the author did try to make her likeable (as in she wore a sweatshirt - WOW hold the front page a woman wears a sweatshirt!!!!) but it didn't work.

Also too many coincidences. They meet in a bar, become neighbours, and then her boss is his brother???

I love the jokes these Paynter and Chloe play on each other and it's clear from the start they have chemistry and are fighting it. The jokes they pulled on each other had me laughing out loud! From Strippers to a blow up doll and condoms and throw in some exploding fireworks on the beach makes for a great start to this awesome book!

Don’t judge a book by its cover. Well, you can judge this one by its cover, because it’s fun, flirty and sexy just like the book is!

Chloe needs to learn not to be so quick to judge and make assumptions based on outward appearances. She’s obsessed with her own superficial appearance, but is her perfect make up, hair and wardrobe just masking the real Chloe? She comes across as a very stiff, serious, career driven young woman. She was betrayed by her last boyfriend when he swooped in and stole her promotion. She had to start from scratch at a new firm and this time she’s determined not to let anyone or anything distract her from grabbing that brass ring.

Her new boss is so concerned about the lack of socializing and fun in her life, that he sends her to attend a girls night at a bar with other similarly focused women. Safe to say, she didn’t leave that meeting any more relaxed than when she arrived. At the bar, she meets the handsome, carefree Paynter. His wardrobe is best described as homeless chic and he couldn’t care less what Chloe or anyone else thinks about him. He’s successful, wealthy and for the most part happy, so if she wants to assume he’s a low-life waste of time, that’s her loss.

Not that he doesn’t enjoy getting a rise out of her. As he leaves the bar, he tips the stripper assigned to a birthday party to go and grind on Chloe in front of the other Stepford clones. She’s humiliated, angry and seriously turned on, but heads home to cool off, assuming that she’ll never see the jerk again.

Fate had other plans. Paynter is Chloe’s new next door neighbour. When she realizes that he’s living next door, they start a prank war of epic proportions! Some of the stuff they came up with was hilarious! And the bickering and snipping back and forth between the two of them, who were clearly at least physically attracted to each other, built the sexual tension like crazy.

Once they stop waging war on each other, they realize that making love is much more satisfying the making war. The only problem is that Chloe doesn’t have time for love. She doesn’t have time to let her guard down and be herself. She’s completely focused on climbing the corporate ladder, no matter who she has to step on to get to the top. Paynter starts to see glimpses of the real Chloe when she begins to relax around him. The woman who wants to wear his sweatshirts instead of her designer suits, to have her hair in a sloppy pony tail and her face clean and fresh. He realizes that he could really fall for this woman. If she would only stop running away.

Why is she so scared to let him see the real her? Is Chloe’s career really the only thing that matters to her or is there space in her heart for a relationship? Can they stop bickering long enough to fall in love? Will they be able to work together to raise their surprise kid (don’t worry – it’s a goat kid). :)

This short novel is a very steamy, sexy read with funny and smart dialogue, strong characters and a great storyline.

HEA with sweet epilogue. No cliffhanger. No cheating. Standalone.

I received a copy in exchange for an honest review

This is definitely not my first rodeo with the hunky heroes and head strong heroines of Misti Murphy but it is my first go round for stepping into a fictional world created by Tami Lund. Both Misti and Tami take their readers on a hilarious journey with a sexy, disheveled hero, a straight laced heroine, blow up dolls and a wayward goat...yes, I said goat. Paynter and Chloe brought on epiphanies, tears of mirth, and boiling hot desire!

Chloe Green is the epitome of a business woman who is climbing the corporate ladder from her four inch heels, pencil skirt, to her polished nails. She is always in full makeup and wearing her armor against the world. After having one man sabotage her success, she is never going down that road and is content at home snuggling up by herself with some wine and spending time with a battery operated boyfriend. Last thing she needs is some rumpled hottie veering her off the road to success. I was enthralled with Chloe and her transformation and self growth. I couldn't wait to see her open her eyes and learn that appearances and ambition are not everything.

Paynter is a gorgeous enigma with his “devil may care” attitude, his down and dirty talk paired with those nerdy brain and glasses, not to mention those delicious muscles. Misti and Tami created a hero that every reader will want to meet and will instantly fall for. His charisma and charm are off the charts and had me enamored from the moment him and Chloe engaged in their first verbal battle.

Misti Murphy and Tami Lund deliver a romance that will keep you laughing from the humor and fanning yourself from all the heat starting from the very beginning. I highly recommend Sexy Bad Neighbor for a read that is entertaining, enlightening, and scorching! There is nothing like prank wars between two neighbors who can't keep their hands off each other to keep a reader coming back for more!

Sexy Bad Neighbor
Misti Murphy
Author review
4 love/hate stars.

This is not your normal Misti Murphy book, but I seriously enjoyed it. I’m sure we’ve all read the sexy neighbour stories before but this has that little extra... I’m not sure what it us exactly but I laughed, I sighed and I fell for these 2 larger than life characters.

Career driven and general hard ass, Chloe Green is interested in business and well that’s about it, her life revolves around her partnership aspirations, she doesn’t have time for men and after being torn apart by an ex, well men in general rate very low on her radar. That is until a night at a bar (one she doesn’t want to be at) she meet Paynter, a man who won’t go away, pushes her every button and yet a man she can’t ignore.

One drink, and her attitude pretty much pisses Paynter right off... beginning a war! Think strippers, Craigslist, blow up dolls, condoms, underground fireworks and goats. Yep these two have it all. Discovering they are neighbours is the next thing in a line of paybacks that cracked me up. Loving the banter and constant practical jokes, it is long before they find themselves sharing a bit more. Simple sex with benefits, or neighbours with benefits.

Both coming from broken long term relationships, means stepping into new ones is not an option. But hello – sex and living right next to each other creates feelings. Ones that frighten the life out if Chloe, but ones easy-going Paynter looks towards. The real Chloe is who he wants to see and be with, not the corporate shark in perfect suits and spiked heels. Opening up to Paynter will leave her vulnerable – a place where she visited previously, and one she would prefer to never see again. But gorgeous Paynter will open her back up if it kills him... he hopes, and wishes. She will be the hardness nut to crack.

Chloe is not happy about joining this Taco Tuesday after-work business shindig her boss sent her to, with instructions to come back with an outrageous story – and to de-stress s bit. She let out a shrill whistle to get the bartender’s attention, and a sloppily-dressed guy yelped a complaint that he was deafened! She explained that she was trying to get a drink. He flashed a twenty in the air and the bartender rushed over while he smirked at her. His comment about her stick-up-the-butt posture did not go over well. Their snarky back and forth banter continues, and she challenges him to join the group of business women she is supposed to mingle with. She figures they’ll eat him alive and humiliate him! Instead, it’s “game on” and Paynter suggests she watch her back as he leaves.

A few minutes later, an oily cowboy stripper is sliding up and down her back, ready to celebrate her birthday – which was the party in the other room! No matter how much she tried to tell him, he continued gyrating around her, saying the other guy told him she’d say that. Yep, Paynter was in the other room laughing so hard he had tears on his cheeks!

This book was great! I loved the main characters who were laugh-out-loud funny! Judging all men by her horrible ex, Chloe wanted to take out her vengeance against Paynter. Paynter couldn’t resist a challenge. So the two pranked each other to see who would “win” in the end. When they discovered they were neighbors, the pranks escalated. I definitely recommend this fun book! It was totally not what I expected, and it turned into a wonderful surprise. Don’t let this one get away!

SEXY BAD NEIGHBOR has been on my TBR list since it was released, because the cover looks fun and the blurb sounds fun. It’s dislike-at-first-sight for Chloe and Paynter, who spend about one third of the story playing pranks against each other as they try to get the upper hand. Their pranks are certainly inventive and ultimately hilarious, and it’s not long before dislike turns into lust.

Chloe took a long time to warm up to because of her attitude. Don’t get me wrong, she’s a nice woman who I liked by the end, but she did come across as shallow and judgemental the first few times she interacted with Paynter. She has tunnel vision when it comes to climbing the corporate ladder and is fixated on not trusting any man because her last boyfriend was a douchebag who stole her promotion. Paynter, on the other hand, was very easy to like with his friendly and laid-back personality. He was also very adorable when he was drunk.

SEXY BAD NEIGHBOR is told in dual POVs and comes with a HEA for Chloe and Paynter. It is part of a series, but as each book will be about a different couple, they can be read as stand-alones. Overall, I found this to be a fun and light-hearted read, and I would gladly read the next book in the series.

I absolutely loved this book from Misti Murphy and Tami Lund! What happens when the guy you meet at a bar, try to embarrass with the help of the career focused women you are meeting with-that doesn't go the way you planned-and he one-ups you with hiring a stripper at the same meeting becomes your new neighbor? That is what happens between Chloe and Paynter in this funny, sweet and hot book. Chloe is the definition of career focused and judges Paynter the second she meets him and then again when she sees he is her new neighbor, in the house she always wanted. Paynter has been with a woman like Chloe before and knows he should steer clear, but he gets glimpses of a different side of her and doesn't want to stay away. What follows is a bunch of pranks played on each other until they both give in to the attraction and then reality comes barging in. Chloe and Paynter may be opposites, but they bring out the best in each other and plus they have a "kid" that crashes into their lives and steals both of their hearts. I laughed, I awwed and I was hooked on every word. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book

The description is short and sweet on this book. It pretty much ensures a funny story of finding love and I couldn't wait to read it. I'm a huge fan of romantic comedy's and I loved the cover!

Chloe was Rude with a capital R! I get that she was this die hard workaholic, but at the start we learn she really does have a stick that need removed. As the story goes on she finally learn to let lose and I enjoyed seeing her laid back.

Paynter isn't what I expected for a hero. He was really sweet but at times he was able to take the bull by the horn. It's hard to talk about him but he was funny, goofy, real, and just all-around a great person.

Garrett is one of those secondary characters you can't help but want to see more of! We learn about him and I was salivating to have more! James is another great character in this story. I can picture the titles of their books already!!!!

Overall this was a fun read. I enjoyed the fun banter and the whole opposites attract plot line. They were totally perfect for each other and the balance in this story was perfect. 4.5 stars #2OCCJD

Wow!!!
This is my first book of the authors and I'm really glad that I signed up for an arc of this amazing book.
The authors have done such a wonderful work with this story.
In Sexy Bad Neighbor,we are introduced to Chloe, who is a career-driven woman and her life evolves around making plans and making sure to carry them forward.
However her whole life changes the day or to be precise, the night she meets the sexy gorgeous man,who turns out to be her new neighbor.

Once bitten, twice shy,Chloe has no time for any man who might get into the way of her professional goals.Nevertheless between the pranks of her new neighbor and the said neighbor's charms,Chloe might find herself into far more trouble than she anticipated.
I absolutely love this heartwarming sexy romance who had me fantasising about a gorgeous neighbor for a while. ;)

Absolutely Love this Author!!! After I read Radio Love (must read by the way). I knew I had to read this book. So happy the Author was Gracious enough to send me an ARC. Everything about this book just gave you the feels!!! How can you not find Paynter who wears glasses (sexy by the way) and looks like Clark Kent?! Hot!!! I like that Paynter was an ordinary guy who worked from from who didn't have to dress up in a suit to impress. Chloe on the other hand with her Liz Taylor looks (loved the dark hair n blue eyes) was quirky and cute. Who hasn't been hurt by a past love and can't quite get over it. I like how Paynter found Chloe to be at her best when she wasn't trying to impress anyone or dress in her power suits. He saw the real Chloe. Love the pranks they played on each other that served to backfire and bring them closer!!! Hopefully we read books on the other siblings as well!!

The pranks, the goat, the chandelier.... it was a hilarious read, and I couldn’t put it down!

A refreshing take on the Next Door Neighbor romance and I absolutely loved it! The chemistry between Paynter and Chloe was super hot and I enjoyed reading along as their assumptions unravelled once they got to know each another.

My favorite aspect of the book was how Paynter softened Chloe, and showed her that she is enough, even with all of her (self) perceived imperfections.

I also enjoyed the secondary characters, and I sure hope that means we will get to know Paynter’s family a bit more down the road! *ahem*

This was a very fun, very cute book that kept me entertained and laughing all the way through. Paytner and Chloe were both awesome, and I loved the chemstry between them. I really enjoyed following their story and the misadventures they got into. My only issue with the book is, while I am happy with where things left off with them, is that I wasn't totally satisfied with the ending. It felt more like a HFN than an HEA, and I would have much rather it skipped ahead a bit to a full HEA. So I hope that maybe we get another story for them in the future, even a short story, to finish that up. I was gifted a copy.

Ohh this book! Right away I knew this would be a read I would wholeheartedly enjoy! Paynter ( I LOVE his name ) and Elizabeth took us on a FUNNY prank-filled sexy love filled journey full of ups and downs I couldn't help but fall for Paynter and inevitably want to smack Elizabeth a bit for not catching on!
Seriously- You've got blow up dolls, goats roaming the streets becoming beloved pets, people hanging from chandeliers all the while hot sex is going on and people are falling in love what more could you possibly ask for? Not much if you ask me! If you need something hot and fun this just might be for you! 5 Stars from me!!
I voluntarily read an advanced copy of this book
