The simplicity of young love snuck up on Andy and Eliza. When Eliza and her family disappeared a few months later, Andy is left with a broken heart. Decades later, as a terminal illness ravages his body, an instance of serendipity gives Andy the opportunity to find out what happened to his first love and why she never said goodbye.
Awww damnit...that made my eyes leak. Very touching, and sweet. Yeah, it was quite serendipitous, a little schmaltzy, but those of us who love a "love of your life" story, with a bit of "life ain't fair and sometimes sucks" thrown in, will eat this quick read up!!!
A lovely short story about first love. It was thoughtfully written but was also touching and sad since it is a reflection back in time of what once was. It has some manipulation of emotions but its tolerable. The book cover alone wins me over. Good read.
The story of Jessie, a young woman trying to piece together a mystery surrounding a laminated heart paper that says Never Goodbye. Her father passed from cancer and her mother had never gone in his wallet during their marriage, or even after, when she came to care for him during his final days. It is Jessie's job to go through the wallet and go on an investigative journey into her father's past. She starts with her uncle and works her way to the truth of young love and the importance of a first love.
Young love that managed to get an ok from a military dad who had already gone through this there times before. Then fate interfered and there's a separation, and after many years & heartbreaking circumstances, there is a chance meeting and an explanation. A very sweet love story.
