His face was covered in splotches as if he had been splattered with miso
And his beak was flat and split all the way back to his ears
He was such a sight that just seeing him made other birds uncomfortable

loved the scene with Nimi and the tall fence. him saying man I should have just crawled thru and tried to make friends instead of isolating, but would he have been happy like that? probably wouldn’t have died a horrible way for sure buttttt who knows

(review is for the full work :3) Sakamoto was playing with interesting concepts in his depiction of the overwhelming loneliness in Japanese society. I think the ultimate flaw seen throughout the book is to slowly turn every side character into a cartoonishly evil form of themselves. I understand the idea of showing how a singleminded view of the world slowly corrupts an individual, but it just becomes boring and predictable rather than allowing a full exploration of each member. Mori's loneliness also does not feel completely resolved by the end, and the reconciliation of the two selves seems to undermine the throughline of the plot. It feels like Sakamoto is having his cake and eating it whenever he can. This manga was very good throughout, but I never really got rid of the bad taste in my mouth.

Bueno, no me esperaba que la excursioncita acabaría de esta manera. Primero que todo, porque Mori ha sido objetivamente el que más se ha desgastado ejem llevándole las maletas a todo el mundo ejem. Segundo, porque el grupito le tocaba tanto las narices a Mori que mi pobre chico ha estado aguantando solo para no quedarse solo.

Me ha devastado por dentro que Niimi, que honestamente ha sido el que “mejor” ha tratado a Mori (y eso que literalmente lo traicionó tanto a él como a su compañero fallecido), haya sido considerado un amigo por Mori. Cuando dice en la comisaría que no le importaba morir si era al lado de un amigo.. 💔💔💔
Aunque también vaya finuras de tío. Está que se muere y dice q no quiere comer en un cazo sucio… creo que tienes problemas más importantes que ese bro.

En fin. Por la parte del viejo no me da mucha pena, y Murata pues casi no sabíamos nada de él. De todas formas el grupo no me gustaba nada. Pero bueno. Me da curiosidad ver cómo sigue la trama. Aunque honestamente todo lo que pasa va siendo un bucle de Mori llegando a la conclusión de que está solo en la vida, same Mori.

Adoro esta historia aaaaa🥺.

Me sucede algo muy importante acá, porque en vez de sentir pena por los personajes, y tener esa empatía con las historias que me van contando como también los sueños que nunca tuvieron, todo el tiempo decía: Son unos estúpidos, porque tuvieron que llegar a este punto. Por lo tanto, Mori se lleva la peor parte, porque él ha tratado de tomar las mejores decisiones, aunque haya sido llevado al límite por sus pares, siendo incluso participe en la protección y el cuidado de uno de sus compañeros, aunque lo haya tratado de una manera horrible. De ser así, ¿me importa lo que ocurra en este volumen? Sinceramente no, me termina pasando más que Mori sufrí y sufrí, y necesito que él encuentre destellos de felicidad, pero por culpa de las cargas a su alrededor, termina siendo diferente.

This volume starts with a cold open as we hear SOMETHING has happened on the mountain, some big disaster, and we slowly watch Mori's perspective unfold. It's a heartbreaker! He finally found people to work with, they abandon him, and try as he might to work with them again bad stuff just keeps happening. So many things get 'revealed' here, I guess, about who these climbers are or were, and despite Mori always trying to go alone it's clear that the people around him still leave memories and consequences that he can't simply be free of.

Although Mori was rejected by his team members he continued with the traversal mission. Then the team was separated by an accident during their tracking at Eboshi mountain. 

Mori was trapped with an injured Niimi in a snow cave below Mount Eboshi's ridge line. Supplies are running out and Mori has to choose between leaving Niimi to find rescue or to stay beside a needy Niimi. He knew staying would be signing his own death warrant. Was it worth dying together with a selfish ungrateful soul? 

In this volume, Mori's physical and mental strength along with his personal values and ethics was put to a mind breaking test. My heart aches for his pain and I long to soothe his lonely soul.
