Ever since I was a young boy, I’ve had an interest in the paranormal. I can thank Robert Stack and Unsolved Mysteries. Of course, like everything else, some aspects hold more interest than others. Also, like everything else, well, most things at least, there’s always more to learn. I’ve not heard a lot about shapeshifters, and I don’t think I’m alone. Sure, we all know werewolves, vampires, and maybe even a witch or two. There’s more to the phenomenon than good ideas for Halloween costumes. In his upcoming 2017 book, Shapeshifters: Morphing Monsters & Changing Cryptids, Nick Redfern opens our minds to many shapeshifting beings, as well as a few we may know with a different twist. Redfern’s graced many documentaries and television series’, notably the History Channel’s MonsterQuest and Ancient Aliens, so he does have a few qualifications...

I have allways been fascinated by myths of the unexplained and weird. That is why the US always seemed so fascinating. In Africa we have very few legends of shapeshifters and big unknown animals, if I could call them such.

This book was utterly fascinating. It covered topics that are already known, as well as some that I have never heard of before. Nic Redfern covers each section and subject by giving the legends as well as eye witness accounts. I was riveted. I never knew that there were still so many encounters with unexplained phenomena happening.

I have to admit that I knew about the Skinwalkers, but did not realise that this phenomena was also spoken of elsewhere in the world. I found the subject of shapeshifters fascinating. I also liked the fact that he mentions other authors in his book, so if the reader so wishes they could read more on the different subjects.

I hope that there will be more books like this form the author. I cannot wait for the next one. I have already ordered a printed copy of this book for my bookshelf.

Thank you Netgalley and the pubisher for providing me with the opportunity to read and review this book.

I received this book after winning it on Goodreads. This is a honest review. I really enjoyed reading it and it was very well written. All these tales though, I don't believe them. Perhaps they were persons over active imaginations but unless I saw these creatures, no. That certainly didn't stop me from really enjoying this book!

Very good collection on strange and bizarre creatures

Interesting research on some of the more strange creatures in the world. Goes well beyond the commonly known, and much here that you never read before.

Good intro . . .

But not nearly thorough enough. This book could have gone into the hundreds of pages but istead skimmed the topic. I wish that Redfern had picked one or two shifters and given a more exhaustive run down.

This book is really awesome. Its divided by differents categories of shapeshifters. You have it all, the MIB, the reptilians, the black cats , blacks dogs ans the djinn and many more. A book of creepy stories about those creatures that can shape shifts.

Not quite what I thought it was going to be about (primarily on werewolves), but it did introduce me to other shape-shifting phenomenon. Some I didn't know and more information on ones that I did know about, and that I should be aware of.

This book started slow but picked up with the Men in Black discussion. There are so many monsters out there it is hard to get a bead on them all.
