"Your lips may be saying no but your body is singing a different tune. We can’t deny what we feel…what we need. This ain’t just about sex and you’re kiddin’ yourself if you think otherwise."
Lorenzo
Normally, women come easy for me. I ain't even gotta try. One night of sex is normally enough, then I'm on the hunt for the next trophy.
Cheryl....she's different though. And it's not just 'cos she's playin' hard to get. She's smart, she's gorgeous, and she can hold her own even with my messed up family and friends. Hell, I haven't even told her what line of work I'm in, just in case it scares her away.
Yup, I'm in deep with this girl.
But things are about to get messy - and if I'm not careful, I'll lose everything. The scary thing is, I ain't even sure if I care, as long as I don't lose her...
Cheryl
The first time I saw him, it was like he was one of my fantasies brought to life. Tall, fit, dressed impeccably...and big where it counts. Lorenzo knows what he wants, and he knows how to get it.
Right now, he wants me.
I want him too...but he's danger personified. I don't need him to tell me that he's a mobster - everything about him just screams it at me. I should run in the opposite direction as fast as I can....but I don't. I'm drawn to him, and I can't deny it to myself.
Before long though, I get drawn into his crazy life way deeper than I ever wanted to be....and it might just be more than I can handle...
Lorenzo is the first book in a new series. It's a full-length novel with no cheating, a HEA, and no cliffhanger.
I liked the story, but I felt it could be better. It was written well, not many errors. However, the way Rhodes wrote conversations made the story confusing at times because you didn't always know who was speaking, this was most difficult with conversations between 3 or more people. The banter between the characters was my favorite part, it made for some humorous moments.
I don't care for the way Enzo and his friends refer to their S.O.'s as b****es. Dirty talk in the bedroom is one thing, but that being your default term for all women irritates me. I also hate cheating, though he didn't sleep with the red head, the intent and the actions that lead up to that made me dislike Enzo. I disliked Cheryl even more because it's like she just shrugged it off.
Again I do like the story. The heist scenes were great, BUT I would have loved to see more growth and maturity in the characters.
I'm no prude when it comes to erotica, but seriously, this reads like a mix between a really bad porno script and an old timey, rather racist, mob movie.
For a while it was entertainingly bad but then it was just boringly bad so I dnf'd
When Lorenzo meets Cheryl, he knows she is the girl for him. He knows he has to ease her into mob life, but he believes they will get there. Cheryl has other ideas though and she is not sure she is ready to jump into a claiming by Lorenzo. Lorenzo gives her time but whenever Cheryl is in his company, she can't resist him. Can she trust the man who seems claims she is the one? When they are tested though can Lorenzo trust Cheryl?
There was some dialogue that confused me in this one, Lorenzo vacillates from being kind of a thug talker to a brilliant man. Had kind of a frenetic feel to the story. Would check out more from this author.
Lorenzo is a mobster living a single guys lifestyle. Until he meets Cheryl. Cheryl holds her own with him verbally and he's taken with her. Cheryl isn't so quite as sure about Lorenzo as he is about her. But she comes around quickly. Too quickly.
I'm on the fence about this book. It had the potential to be really good, but I felt like it was rushed. And there was one scene that just didn't fit for me. I feel like it was put in after the story was written to create more drama or something.
But first, I thought they were funny together. I usually liked their banter and back and forth. I really loved the dynamic between Lorenzo and his boys Johnny and Gino. Each of them really stood out as individual characters. And I almost preferred to read about Johnny and his little FBI agent Sarah, over reading about Lorenzo and Cheryl. I really liked it when Johnny and Sarah were together in the story.

"So what's in the tin?" he asked, nosily.
"Just cookies?"
"I was hopin' you'd say that. Bake them yourself?"
Glancing around nervously, she replied. "Yes, I did."
"What kind did you make?"
"Tiffany said your favorite was walnut-chocolate chip."
He smiled.
"So I made peanut butter. I didn't want you to get the wrong idea.[...]"

Everything about her stirred the masculine side of his psyche, flaming his want for her into a burning need. He decided right then and there, the minute she opened her heart to him, he was taking up permanent residence there.
I loved the new book from Ashley Rhodes! Cheryl has a fantasy of what she is looking for in a man, but doesn't think she will find him in the guys her friend, Tiffany, tries to hook her up with. Lorenzo is an alpha male to the max, a member of the mob and is used to getting what he wants, and what he wants is Cheryl. A hook-up between Cheryl and Lorenzo at a club leaves him wanting more from her, even when the phone number she gave him turns out to be for the STD hotline. As they grow closer Cheryl finds herself on the FBI's radar and put in the worst possible position, having to choose between her brother and the guy she is falling for. When things get crazy and she finds herself being "saved" from Lorenzo by her brother's MC both are going to have to learn that trust is a two way street and decide what they want from the other. Lorenzo and Cheryl's story is amazing and leave me wanting to see what's in store for Lorenzo's friends and Cheryl's brothers MC. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
I started off really liking this, but after a while I kept thinking that it had to have every mob cliche' ever known to man in this story. I found myself rolling my eyes so many times that I thought that they would pop out of my head. The reason I gave it 2 stars is because it started good, and I was tickled pink when Cheryl was talking the FBI in circles.
This was my first book by Ashley Rhodes and I thought it was pretty good.
Cheryl has yet to find what she wants in a man until she meets Lorenzo only one problem, he's in the mob.
Cheryl meets Lorenzo during a night out in which she gives him the wrong number but, this on no way stops Lorenzo in pursing her. But as they become closer Cheryl is given the ultimate choice her brother or Lorenzo.
This was a quick read and had it's surprisingly funny moments.
This is the second time I'm reading this book and I quite enjoyed it. It's funny, dangerous, intriguing and there's a lot more going on than just the romance between them. I also loved the secondary characters and I can't wait to read more about them. I'm definitely diving into this series. I was looking for a mafia romance and I ended up finding this one and I'm so happy. Great book.
This book is just to damn dumb for me. I really tried but the mob bosses acting like this is just not believable. I could go on and on. Referring to a woman as broad? Really what is this the 1950s.
>I am an independent reviewer. This book is the first in the Seduced by the Mob series and ends in an HEA. Lorenzo is attracted to a different sort of woman in his club. Cheryl meets Lorenzo and instantly doesn't trust him. She gives him a fake name, fake phone number, but he just enjoys the hunt. She realizes she enjoys the chase.
>The dialogue between Lorenzo and his friends, Johnny and Gino, is almost like spoofed mobster-speak. The author is consistent, though, and never lets them talk any other way, especially during scenes are Lorenzo's parents' home. The topics of conversation are so awkward and embarrassing, mostly regarding sex. The story was sweet, until Cheryl thinks it is okay to wear a wire for the FBI. Did she fall and hit her head? He brother is in prison and is in an MC. He tells her not to do it. Soon you have Cheryl acting as if she was wronged when Lorenzo finds out. Cheryl is a pretty smart woman until this point.
>The story itself is sexy and combines the mob with the MC, which is kind of unique as they both have their own set of rules to live by. This book is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving the book 4 stars. The FBI agent turning into a sex slave was odd, as was the best friend admitting she was once trafficked in Russia. The relationship between Lorenzo and Cheryl was sweet.
This is the first book I have read by Ashley Rhodes. Ashley had me by Chapter One--good girl guided by lust publicly hooks up with a hot Italian mobster against her better judgment. Cheryl was smart and feisty; she made a hard choice and misjudged her lover’s reaction. And although it was pretty clear these two were right for each other, trust is earned over time. My only issue with Lorenzo was his speech. Most of the time, he sounded more uneducated than “gangsta”, despite having gone to college and having a lawyer for a father. There is the Italian and Irish mob, MC involvement, FBI and family and friend subplots. My favourite scene was how to wear a wire and look like you’re helping the FBI but not really. There was enough going on to make it interesting, and for me to want to read more of this series, while still simple enough for me to follow. The plot nicely sets up future stories for Gino and Tiff, and Johnny and Sarah (I am hanging out for that one!).
I received an ARC and am leaving a voluntary review.
These are some hot street talkin' mobsters. Some funny times but also some drama-filled serious ones. This was no cut and dry mafia romance. Plenty of plot twists, lies, love, and betrayal. There were some really good one-liners too. Cheryl was a strong, sassy woman, and while she and Enzo had their fair share of fights, he knew that she did it for him, even as he felt that he didn't deserve her. Some explicit moments, but overall not as crazy steamy as other books I've read, but still a very enjoyable story. I'd love to read about Gino and Johnny's stories too. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
At first I wasn't to sure about this book when I started reading it, the dialogue between Lorenzo and his friends was written in gangster/mobster style so it was hard to read...but as it continued it grew on me and then in my head I had the accent and gangsta talk....now to me it is what made the book along with the sexy, dominant, alpha Lorenzo. I also really liked Cheryl, with her witty banter and dialogue with everyone including the FBI (had to laugh at that) and her strength in sticking up for herself with Lorenzo. A great mob romance with steamy scenes and a great story to go with it. *I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book*
**I received this ARC in exchange for an honest voluntary review** This was my first from this author & I enjoyed it very much. Especially loved Lorenzo's filthy mouth with the exception of him calling the women bitches (a little too far for me) & the bantering between him, Gino & Johnny. I was throughly entertained & found it hilarious at times. Thought the story was a little choppy at times but overall loved the characters & action. Would recommend :)
Not terrible, but not something I'd read again. I think the author watched far too many 1950s mob movies, because the characters all speak like old time mob bosses. I even started picturing Frank Sinatra and Marlon Brando in lead roles.
Lorenzo meets Cheryl and the fireworks start. Lots of action, steamy scenes and dirty talk. I enjoyed reading this book and can't wait for the next one.
Mobster with a golden heart and a very dirty mouth falls for a fairly normal girl. Heists and rescuing girls from being sold are the name of the game for him and his 2 best friends. Good story.
This book is one of those books that have a certain character to the story itself. I really do not like to talk bad about any book because I know how hard authors work to produce a story and publish a book, but personally I could not read more than 40% of this book and that was with skimming. The way the story progresses is just very...weird. I'm not sure how to explain it, but it just seems like I am reading something someone posted online and were writing to get through the story, not actually invest time in the development. by like the third chapter she was already meeting his family and talking about grandkids. I give a lot of credit to the author and this is not to bash her, i just did not enjoy the book and I could not get into it. I really wish I could because I really enjoy mafia/mob books, but this was not one of them.
Love this book! Lorenzo or Enzo or Pumpkin is all alpha male! Cheryl is shy at first but then she grows her sassy. She is amazing. I love her brother Charlie too. I recommend this book. I couldn't put it down.
Lorenzo is a dominant and dirty man. He also seems to always get his way. When meets up with Cheryl in his club, he knows she is the one. Cheryl gets caught up in an FBI scheme to catch the mafia but it be I guess she almost loses Lorenzo for good. There is a lot back and forth and with this one and you get different points of view. Love me some mafia had boys.
Love Enzo and Cheryl, Enjoyed reading this 1st book in the series. How the friends had each other's back. Enjoyed when Cheryl driving FBI guy crazy with all her chatter. . Looking forward to reading next book
This is the first book in the “Seduced by the Mob” series, and what an awesome series this is going to be. Lorenzo is a smart, dominant, arrogant, mobster, and Cheryl is smart, witty, with firm ideas of what her perfect man will be. When these two meet there is an instant and intense chemistry between them. No spoilers from me though, you really need to read this for yourself!! This story is well written, with twists & turns, humorous banter, suspense, and love. Ashley has never disappointed with her books, and this one is certainly no different. I cannot wait to read more from this author, and I recommend her work for all readers.
Great start to a new series, I was hooked from beginning to end. This is a fast-paced read with lots of drama and suspense and oh so steamy. I really liked it and looking am looking forward to more.
This is a wonderful, entertaining book to read and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. What you will find in this book is: a mobster with a filthy mouth who goes after what he wants (Lorenzo), a feisty woman who only wants a one night stand (Cheryl), drama, intrigue, suspense, mafia, FBI, Russians, humor, twists & turns, action, betrayal, heartache, insecurities, trust, lust, emotional feelings, love and erotic scenes. I found the story-line to be well thought out and written. The characters have emotional feelings according to the situation they find themselves in. I would recommend this book to people who like to read a well written Bad Boy Romance with a HEA.
There is a lot going on in this story and you get thrust right into the action from the very beginning. Lorenzo is a mobster who goes after what he wants and he is sure Cheryl belongs to him. From his friend's comments, he tends to go after women quite often but he tries to convince them that this one is different. The big difference is that Chery has some second thoughts and tries to keep her distance after their first encounter. It makes him even more interested to have to chase her.
I think it would have been better for the author to focus more on developing Lorenzo and Cheryl as characters and their relationship rather than adding so many other elements to the story. I felt like I learned very little about Cheryl. I wasn't even sure what she did for a living until a remark near the end by her brother. You don't get any info on her romantic past. I liked her sass but it seemed to come and go and she accepted too much of what Lorenzo said. The MC part was unexpected but I actually enjoyed the bikers more and wasn't sure why she didn't go that route. The mobsters seemed to be more disorganized and less devoted to taking care of their family. I would love to learn more about those characters.
I love my mafia books and this one doesn't disappoint Lorenzo is one dirty mouthed mafia man who falls for the good girl. the minute he sees her he knows she will be his
This story was a good introduction into the world and characters I believe will be in future novels in this series . Along with Lorenzo ' s relationship we also got to see the start of Johnny and Gino's . Looking forward to Johnny s . .. just saying 》at first it was really strange to me to have chatacters who actually spoke in street slang. Most mafia romances portray the leads as sophisticated and "proper" these guys were down to earth and portrayed on a street level . They didn't lack finesse or intelligence , just earthy . 》the mix of an MC gang along with the Mafia was a nice twist and I honestly think it will make future stories twice as good 》 I loved that our bad boys had a strong sense of family and the proper respect (no violence ) towards their women and children 》 it's going to be a great series 《 the only downside for me is I did have some trouble forming an emotional connection
