Rate this book
Scientists predict that within 8 years, brain disease will kill or disable more people than cancer and heart disease combined. Given this shocking new research, we urgently need to know how to protect and improve our brain health.

In Boost Your Brain Power in 60 Seconds, Dr. Michelle Schoffro Cook aims to turn this prediction around with her prescriptive—and proven—plan. Several years ago, Dr. Cook was in a terrible car accident in which she suffered a brain injury, resulting in cognitive impairment, partial paralysis in her left arm, and severe migraines. Utilizing her expertise in natural medicine, Dr. Cook developed a program that improved her memory, cured her migraines, and reversed her arm paralysis. After her recovery, she continued to research natural methods to improve memory, reduce memory loss, and prevent degenerative brain diseases.

Boost Your Brain Power in 60 Seconds is an easy, customizable, 4-week plan filled with fun, doable tips you can execute in just 60 seconds a day, including 50 delicious recipes featuring brain-boosting superfoods, encouraging success stories, and a self-assessment quiz.

I got this book from good reads first reads. I anticipated a lot of new information I did not know about but on the whole the entire opener was just one blow after another of problematic behaviors and foods. I figured I'd read the book and then get started on the plan but once I went to the store I was horribly out of luck when it came to recommended foods and supplements. So when everything was said and done I can only do barely a fourth of the recommendations. Out of curiosity I did look up a few of the sources and studies cited in the book but the ones I randomly selected all had pretty small sample sizes and study durations which, if I remember from college, is not a good thing.

Lotsa good advice, but oh so repetitive. And, it says the same tips over and over again. Some redundancy issues. **

I agree with several of the other reviewers here: Good but repetitive.

Fabulous book on what you need to eat to keep your brain healthy and your life in better shape it’s always good to know the benefits of various foods and how it affects or helps in improving your health.
Considering a lot of meat isn’t great for health, it’s no surprise that the book focuses on healthier vegan options.
The reason to give a slightly lower rating for the book is the amount of repetitive content. The book could have been half the pages and still dealt the same impact.

Good information on brain healthy foods, but a lot of it was repetitive. A good reference book, but not a great read.

Very repetitive. Could have condensed sections together and reduce page count. Good information, much that I knew of but still good information.

This is a great book, however the author repeats the same idea many times but its very helpful.

Advice 1: avoid sugars (including fructose).
Advice 2: eat an apple every day, or drink a glass of apple juice (one of THE HIGHEST sugar content fruit juices out there).

Be consistent, or get off my shelf.
