Dom.

Seth.

Mark.

Loved it.I think this is my favourite book in the series so far,I can't get enough of Dom and Seth.
This one sees Dom,Seth and Mark finally crossing the border into Mexico but as usual things don't go smoothly.

Dom finds himself in a situation he hates.....not being in complete control.
As a result Seth finds himself having to step up.

As they both battle to do what they think is right there are lies and secrets which causes a huge divide between them.
It's no secret that I find Dom's jealousy over Seth insanely hot and this book is no exception.
These two are just so deliciously hot together, even when they're fighting you can feel the sexual tension.....
(bottle of water scene with Seth....I think I have that on repeat in my head)

Have to mention Mark who they have kind of unofficially adopted...I love that boy.I especially liked his interaction with Dom here....I would love for him to have his own book in the future.

It's difficult to go into the story in depth without spoilers but for fans of this series this will definitely not disappointed.I've read tons of M/M books and series but these two and this series are still unquestionably my favourite.

Each time I finish a book in Guns n' Boys series I am in complete awe. But it's so hard to explain in words ALL my feelings. And God I have SO many things to share!

English is not my native language and it's been only a year since I started reading MM stories, and less than a year since I got the courage to write my thoughts. But I must admit, it really is a challenge to write a review for any book in this series.

My biggest problem: I don't want to share too much. I don't want to write all the course of the book and give too many details. I sometimes skip reading any reviews or the presentation of the book, only because I want to still be surprised while reading it.

What's the beauty here? Well when you pick any book by K.A. Merikan, especially any book in this series, you are in for a treat. You can't ever be prepared for it! This story takes you to the highest points, only to leave you in a free fall, with no safety net.

I think it's safe to say that this book is FULL of action, bullets, wounds, harsh words, painful and VERY unexpected turns. The action kept me so alert and I was about to finish it in one standing. I stopped at 75%, because LIFE. But I must admit I was so excited about it. I swear I didn't expect to get so surprised.
My heart was about to explode, SO many times, but the ending was unexpectedly sweet.

Now I have super high expectations for the next one, Guns n' Boys: Bloodbath. Thank God, and the authors for the ARC!!! New adventure: Colombia, here I come. Hehe :)

At the start of this book, I honestly felt really disappointed because I just wasn’t enjoying it much. For me, it dragged a little and the plot just didn’t grip me. I was a bit bored and it also didn’t help that the writing for these books just isn’t that great.

Before Seth, Domenico had sometimes found himself wondering if he could ever feel the way other people seemed to when they were in love, but now he understood that what he’d needed was a very special man. Someone who could accept Domenico the way he was without being hard as a block of marble himself.

However, after a little while, the story definitely picked up, and most importantly, so did Seth and Dom’s relationship. The moment the drama between them started happening again, was the moment I was once again enjoying the hell out of this book.
I know these two are so toxic together and their relationship is beyond crazy, but I just love the tumultuous and angsty energy between them. Even though they fight all the damn time, they can also be so sweet and gentle with each other, and I love how they combine those two things in their relationship.

“You both fucking betrayed me, so cut the bullshit. We’re stuck together anyway, but that doesn’t mean anything’s changed since yesterday.”
Mark gasped. “I’m sorry! It’s my fault. I should have said something, but you told me I shouldn’t get in between you two if anything happened. I panicked!”
Seth slammed his fist against the table so hard each of their cups bled coffee. “He cuffed me to the fucking bed, Mark!”
Domenico bit into his lip, and his mouth filled with a metallic taste. He clutched at his shirt. It’d been less than a day without Seth’s affection, and it was already taking such toll on his mind he’d agree to anything Seth wanted. “I made a mistake.”
Seth’s eyes met his, and Dom had never seen those brows eyes so cold. “Fuck you. You’re just doing damage control because shit didn’t go your way. You’d do it all over again given half the chance.”
Domenico swallowed hard. “What do you want me to do?”
“I want nothing from you. I can’t even deal with you being here right now.” Seth took a deep breath and curled his shoulders. “You’ve broken me so bad I don’t even know where to go from here.”
Domenico stood up and grabbed the back of Seth’s chair. “What is it that you want, damn it? I love you! I would do anything for you. Being away from you makes me physically sick! Haven’t we been through worse times and survived?”
Seth nodded, and quickly got up to avoid touching Dom. “Maybe we shouldn’t have.”
What seemed like a bad dream before was now becoming a nightmare. Seth truly was questioning their relationship. Domenico had assumed that yesterday’s argument was one of Seth’s typical, rash decisions, yet after so many hours apart, Seth was only more bitter.
Domenico took a deep breath, resisting the sting of pain deep in his chest. “You can’t mean that. We will always be together. You know this.”
“Do I?” Seth whispered.

My favourite part will forever be how insanely obsessed Dom is with Seth; I never would have guessed things would turn out this way between them from how everything started in the first book in the series, but somehow the previously cold and cruel Dom has just become so utterly whipped for his man, and I love that. Every time Dom gets jealous, possessive or insecure about Seth’s affection just has me in a chokehold. It’s so damn good.

P.S. I really don’t like Mark. I know he’s supposed to be their adopted son or whatever, but it doesn’t feel that way. The age-gap between them isn’t big enough, and Mark only really seems to respect Dom. I think I could get behind Mark’s addition to the family more of he also developed an actual bond with Seth, but unfortunately I don’t see that happening anytime soon… As it is right now, I mostly just find Mark annoying.

"I wake up every day, and I breathe for you."

Oh, Dom & Seth, it has been too long and I have missed you, so. Dom & Seth are undoubtedly my favorite pair of anti-heroes and they did not disappoint at all, in Guns n' Boys: Chokehold. Though Guns n' Boys: Swamp Blood still holds the title of "my favorite Merikan novel', Chokehold was and is definitely worthy of the series.

You might recall, if you've read the previous books in the Guns n' Boys series, that Dom & Seth are on the run after being betrayed by the family, and they've picked up a teenage boy, whom they've pretty much adopted as their son and Dom's protege. They cross into Mexico, here, to regroup and try to find more info on Mr. Tropico. But, of course, nothing ever really goes to plan.

Dom still has his overly macho tendencies and needs to be the protector and the provider. But circumstances dictate that he can't be either, for a time. And Seth decides to step up and be that man. But Dom is not exactly cooperative and his insistence on being the only one that can provide cause a fair amount of strife between he and Seth, and no small amount of heartbreak.

Seth is a capable man. Is he Dom? Nope, and I am thankful for that. Seth is Dom's heart. His soul. But Seth needs to feel useful, too, especially after everything that has happened in the last year. And though he doesn't always think things through, Seth wants, for once, to be the hero and come through for the man he loves above all.

There was some good to come from the actions that nearly broke them, though -- they talked. Really talked about things much past due. And the sexing that happened after that set my Kindle (and me) aflame. Dom & Seth deserve some happiness and I want to see them through to finding it.

And Mark, the seventeen year old boy that Dom & Seth rescue in Louisiana is so eager for Dom to teach him how to be a made man. He looks up to Dom and wants to prove himself. He's not reckless about it, though, thankfully. But seeing him be so eager just shows his naivete. He'll grow and learn, though, and with Dom and Seth as mentors, maybe he'll even come through it with his humanity in tact.

Wow, what a ride that was! And when the plot finally came to a head, I was at the edge of my seat! I needed my guys to come though it ok. They've been through so much, already! And they do. And I loved it. Blood, violence and all. Go team!

One notable (and welcome) absence in Chokehold was Dana. I was so happy she was elsewhere, because I do not like her. At all. Looks like she will be back in the next book, though, so I'll have to brace myself for that. I can't imagine she will be anything other than the snake in the grass she has always been. Maybe my dreams will come true and Dom (or Seth) will end her. A girl can dream, right?

Thanks Renée and Ele for the fabulous BR!!!! Dom & Seth are even more fun with your company :)

“It will always be like that from now on. You are only mine. No one will take you away from me. Even you can’t take yourself away from me”

The way this book had me frustrated and stressed was no joke. Yet, at the same time it made feel all warm inside.

Chokehold picks up right where Book 4 ends. Dom, Seth, and Mark have crossed over the border to Mexico, but they’re still far from being in the clear and reaching their goal. These guys can’t seem to get a break as more injuries throw their plans for a loop. Now they need to rest, heal, and try to survive after losing all their money.

I loved this book so much. I felt that their relationship was tested to a degree that I have yet to see. The past was hanging over them as a dark cloud and kept rearing its head, especially regarding Seth and Dom’s first encounter. Seth carries deep scars and trauma yet loves Dom so much. Dom as well needed to face his actions, and seeing them bring everything out into the open was great...not good for my heart since I honestly was worried for a good chunk of the book but needed as their relationship became stronger than ever. The ending was just wonderful!

“And now, he was once again allowed to touch it without the fear of being pushed away. It had required some real talk and was at times painful, but Domenico was glad that both of them had finally been honest about the past.”

“And Domenico had needed to listen to what Seth had been through because of him, no matter how much it hurt to see himself as the violator of someone he loved more than anything in the world.”

They hurt one another with their actions and words....knowing exactly what to say and do in order to maximize the damage. Poor Mark is caught between them at times. It was a gritty and emotionally heavy story but with KA’s wonderful dark humour and some very Seth moments sprinkled in.

“Only Seth could have concluded a meeting like this one required him to bring cake, but Domenico didn’t want to stifle any of that sweetness that came so naturally to him.”

The action! I thought my heart was going to stop a few times. I also liked seeing some old and new characters, especially Miguel.

Overall I absolutely loved Chokehold and can’t wait to start Bloodbath (but I’m not going to lie... I’m so nervous about what is to come next)

He was a deeply spiritual man, but he never doubted that a lot of what the ancient bishops had chosen to make canonical was a stinking load of crap. Like that bit about homosexuality being sinful. Or that one shouldn’t eat shrimp. Shrimps were fucking delicious, and so were dicks.

My favorite of the series so far! From the opening scene of them shopping in the mall, to that steamy af bathroom you’d-better-keep-quite scene...to the last scene in the bathtub. My poor kindle didn’t know what to do with herself!!

Seth was steel. But Dom was fire, and the heat he produced could melt Seth into any shape.

Mark is 17 now and Dom has completely taken him under his tutelage.

Mark would be the son he and Seth would not otherwise never have, so he needed to be a perfect specimen of the man the two of them could raise.

The humor, the banter, the HEAT, the utter devotion and love that Seth and Dom have for one another is so much fun to read.

It’s not all fluffy fun, this is GnB after all. This book brought out their painful beginning, ripped all those hurts wide open, and healed them into a better couple than they were before. The raw vulnerability and honesty from Seth broke my heart, and Dom’s response to him made me know without a doubt, these two were meant to be.

These authors kicked my emotional ass in this story and I am SO DAMN impressed with their skills.

5 stars for Dom and Seth

Domenico and Seth can do no wrong. Dom can just sit his sexy ass at home and just stare at a housefly and I'm entertained. Seth can pout all day about his own inadequacy and I just want to hug him. Of course, when it comes to them, things won't stay peaceful for long. Anyway, something is seriously wrong for how much I like to read about them whether they are doing extremely mundane things or extremely dangerous things.

In Chokehold, Dom and Seth together with their new charge, Mark is trying to flee the country to Mexico. Dom plan to pamper Seth with all the luxury, a nice apartment complete with high end kitchen and sipping some cocktail by the pool. Plenty of great sex with the love of his life. But as usual, things turn to shit for them all when they finally cross the border.

When Dom is out of commission, is now up to Seth to provide for his family. Drama unfolds when Seth gets into trouble, as usual, and Dom need to protect Seth might just push him too far.

Seth constant need to prove himself is an ongoing issue. His argument with Dom regarding his ability is a recurring theme. Seth wants to be independent and badass, while Dom want to wrap him up in a bubble. Although there are angst, we can see how much they love each other. This time around though, Dom might just take his obsession on protecting Seth abit too far. Is interesting to see them trying to make things work despite things turning ugly between them.

"Even when it hurts, I'd rather become charred than not burn with you."

My favorite part of the story is when they finally dig out their past, the things that happen in Book 1 and talk about it. When I read the first book of this series, I can imagine not everyone can stomach the kind of toxic relationship that Dom and Seth have, but I still love it and I'm rooting for them. To actually see their relationship grow so much throughout the series, is simply beautiful and heartwarming. I enjoy seeing Dom's character changing before my eyes, but at the same time I don't want him to change too much. I love his crazy obsession, killer instinct and air of superiority.

Mark, oh Mark. The little brat is going to turn into a fine mafiya once Dom is done with him. I'm delighted to see him finally having a family and a father figure that not only care for him, but want the best for him. Can't wait to see him actually finding a man of his own.

Overall, KA Merikan continue to deliver a masterpiece with Chokehold. The humor is spot on, there are moments that Dom and Seth simply make me laugh so hard and their drama make me teary eye. They are definitely my ultimate favorite m/m couple to date. Not many author can actually write about the same characters for an ongoing series and still make me go gaga over their romance. Usually the sexual tension just fizzle out, but not for Dom and Seth. They just keep getting stronger and stronger.

"I love that you make me feel normal. Like I'm just a guy."

It's back! The love story that has crawled under my skin is back, and the baddest of bad boys are hotter that ever. Yes, that't right! It's Dom...
"I’m honest. I wake up every day, and I breathe for you,”[...]

“And without you my life is losing all of its color. I’m stuck in a black and white perfume commercial,”

and Seth...
"If this was what they needed to do, Seth would help however was necessary. He could be a sweet man who liked cooking, but for Domenico, he’d kill, rob, and set fire to the world."

I loved Chokehold but for completely different reasons than the other books in the series. Yes, there was action and bloodshed, and yes, there was hot sex too. But for me, this story is more character and relationship driven. The blurb is spot on; Dom and Seth's past is coming back to haunt them. There are things left unsaid, and feelings that got hurt a long time ago, that our boys didn't deal with. As a reader I got caught up in this crazy journey and missed it too.

But now push came to shove and it broke my heart how the guys and their relationship suffered. And what came after was true catharsis. It was amazing to see these two really talk, getting to the core of the problem, and rebuilding their trust to one another. Talk about real character and relationship development. And the bathtub lovemaking that followed?Amazing and so sensual!
"The two of them belonged together like sin and confession.

The pacing of the story made me appreciate something else too: the consistent characterization. Seth and Dom's life is a rollercoaster, but it didn't change who they are. Dom is still a dangerous bastard, deeply religious with an appreciation for fine clothing. Always in love with Seth. And Seth is still insecure, sweet, but brave and ready to step up when needed. Always in love with Dom.

Despite the above, don't go thinking that there isn't enough action in Chokehold, because there is! Crossing the Mexican border didn't go as planned, there are quite a surprises around the corner, and new allies or enemies make their appearance. I love Mark with al my heart! He really became Dom and Seth's son. And a new interesting secondary character who will probably have a role in the next installment, Miguel. And, hopefully, his own book someday.

Bottom line, I think this was an amazing and much needed addition to the series. Like the blurb says, there are indeed pretty lies and ugly truths. But most of all, there is a fleeting image about a house filled with loved, bathed in the italian afternoon sun...

THIS BOOK BROUGHT ME NOTHING BUT PAIN. it gave me flashbacks to similar feelings i felt when i read Touch & Geaux. it was brutal and painful and my heart was hurting so much. :(

give me anything with angst and i'll eat it up. i love feeling A L L the emotions while reading a book, but shiit. i swear, the words Dom and Seth threw at one another in this book had me flinching.

the sweet moments were still present in certain scenes and i still loved this overall bc it's Dom and Seth and i just adore them but i wished the heartbreaking parts didn't go on for as long as it had. was it necessary to move the story forward though? yes, so i can't complain tooo much but it's just me wanting nothing but happiness for Dom and Seth after everything they've been through. 😭

also tbh, i love how Dom .

Seth and Dom are one of my favorite mm couples of all times. They are complete anti-heroes and completely dysfunctional (it's Merikan, after all), but I love them something fierce.

"When you know you couldn't live without him, that's love."

This was a great addition to the series. Dom and Seth continue their journey to South America, this time passing from US soil into Mexico. Nothing is ever easy, is it? Betrayed by a person they were forced to trust to get them quietly into Mexico, Dom is injured. This has never worked out well for my boys in the past. When Seth tries to show Dom just how much he can provide all they will need, Seth is.........well Seth. He's not made to be hard as stone and get shit done without mercy. And he certainly isn't slick enough to get one over on many people.

And they have Mark now, whom they've unofficially adopted. Mark is quite the eager beaver, ready to show Dom and Seth just how much of a made man he can be now that he is their son. I love Mark to pieces, and he comes through when it counts.

The blurb warns us that the past comes back to haunt them, and this is true in more ways than one. One is tangible, and one is a shadow that brings a lot of pain to Seth and Dom's relationship. That second one was the one that stung. My heart was hurting a lot as I watched that part unfold.

Dom can't stand to be less than the top of his game physically, so he says a lot of things in frustration about not providing for his family and how he's the only one who can do that successfully. You can imagine how well that goes over with Seth, especially since he tries so hard to prove he is as much a force to be reckoned with as any other made man. Both men take many hits to their pride, especially when they fight dirty in their arguments. But Merikan more than makes up for it with the amount of affection and sweetness after they put our hearts back together again.

"I wake up every day, and I breathe for you."

I will say that Dana's absence was welcome after my experience with her in the last book, but she will definitely be back in the next.

I loved this installment - probably not my favorite of the series - but this one held my attention as only Seth and Dom can. If you have shied away from this series because you don't like Merikan's biker series, please don't stay away any longer. I've read many of those, and they don't hold a candle to Seth and Dom in my opinion.

I love these boys and can't wait to see what happens next! Thank you to Jewel and Ele for a fabulous buddy read!

So…….. how do I scream in an eloquent way? I don’t!

This book was mind blowing! It totally wrecked me for 70% and then 30% making me a whole person again!

I basically wanted to spank with no safe word everyone, even Mark!

So our guys make a explosive arrival at Mexico, and with that Dom end ups injured and it becomes Seth responsibility to provide for the family… with that comes huge reckless decisions, making him put his life in danger… Baby bear 🐻…. and we all know how Dom feels about that right? Overreacting, controlling, pure evil behavior. and poor Mark in the middle of these two Titans fighting for supremacy!

These shenanigans get to a breaking point when Dom acts all psycho on Seth, bringing old wounds, that keep coming out, endangering their imperfect bubble. This gets really nasty to the point of signet’s being removed, so shit got serious! Dom is an asshole we all know that and kind of love him for it, but he crossed the line here and got the punishment he deserved! Seth is such a sweetheart but naïve… the only good thing from the stupidity of Dom’s behavior was the makeup because I believe those wounds are really healing, they talked and hugged and kissed and yes… fucked like horny rabbits in heat who just missed each other it was hurting to breathe! Bath sex was 🤌 lava level people!!!! This makeup was cathartic for both of then🖤

I really needed that ending and that pic nic at the beach ( it’s a euphemism for they just going to fuck while role playing ) 🤭

Old acquaintances make a important appearance for the future and a new snake joined the gang Miguel. Mysterious Miguel with his dead eyes, sexy braid and body ink 🥵🥵🥵🥵

4.5 for this installment- these guys are my crack ! Poor Dom really copped it again in this book .. really must he endure so much ? Seth became a little more dominant and took over the leadership while Dom recovered. Of course this was messy, emotional and violent as expected but Dom always manages to find a solution- even in the midst of a hurricane

Seth watched him in that way Domenico so desperately craved. As if Dom was the center of his universe and Seth wanted to get close enough to form a constellation with him.

My beautiful, crazy boys are back in Chokehold and I couldn't be happier. I think this is my favorite book so far. Hey, I'm a sucker for romance and this installment brought my boys closer to each other.

Dom and Seth with their new "kid" Mark are trying to cross the border to Mexico in their journey to South America. Things go wrong, Dom ends up injured and they end up stuck in a little mexican town. Seth feels the need to provide but at the same time Dom feels guilty because they got stuck and he can't protect his family. Of course they never discuss things and the resentment keeps growing and growing until everything explodes. They have been through a lot in the past year and some things were their doing. The problem is they never actually acknowledged it and now they have to or it could cost them their future together.

"I wake up every day, and I breathe for you,” whispered Domenico

I was waiting for this moment since book 3, they just had too talk! And the fact that Domenico initiated the talk was amazing, it shows they are both growing.
My heart broke in some of the fights because they were so vicious and I couldn't stand to see my two boys at odds with each other.
At the end of the day though these guys have a fierce love, there was a scene were they weren't ok but Dom protected Seth and Seth seeked Dom's reassurance, he knew Dom always has his back. That's how they work.

“I’m destined to be at the top of the world. And you will be my king consort.”

This book was really good, Kat and Agnes even made me like Mark! And I hated the little pest in the previous book. Here he was growing and learning. I love how he really tries to do better and his loyalty to Dom and Seth is something great. I really wanna know the man he's gonna grow to be under Dom's wing.

If he was to watch over Mark, he’d help the boy reach his full potential. Mark would be the son he and Seth would otherwise never have, so he needed to be a perfect specimen of man the two of them could raise.

Santo's cameo was everything i wanted. I don't wanna give too much away but I can't wait for his and Lucrezia's book.

Miguel is someone I'm looking forward to get to know. The pieces of info we got from his past are interesting and honestly I feel like he could be a great asset in future books.

Dana bitch was a no show but she's gonna be back in the next book. I really don't wanna see her (unless she dies) but I kinda want her baby for Seth and Dom, is that fucked up? I don't care.

Btw can we make Seth's food blog a thing? His cuteness is too much.

In Chokehold, , book five of the Guns n’ Boys series, Domenico Acerbi and Seth Villani are on the move, with Mark in tow, trying to cross the Mexican border underground and without incident. Completely cut off from their resources, Domenico relies on limited funds and a handful of trustworthy contacts until their supposedly safe passage is compromised.

“We will build a bright future. Disperse all the shadows.”

For Domenico and Seth, their path hasn’t been straightforward and during this time in Mexico, their circumstances add stress to their relationship. With Domenico temporarily home bound, Seth quickly acts to support the family but Dom has his doubts. Working hard and for little money, Seth accepts new his role but he’s also harboring strong feelings about the past that are percolating at the surface. As tensions rise, Dom knows where his heart belongs but his insecurities lead him to act in a way that forces Seth’s hand.

“I don’t know if I even deserve to be forgiven, but I need you so fucking much. I can’t imagine being without you anymore, and that is the truth.”

With Domenico on the mend and never long without a prospect, he finds an unexpected alliance and a chance to gain leverage in his long term goals. As the dynamic between Dom and Seth shifts, they acknowledge how each offers balance and they are able to finally put the past behind them.

“Despite all their differences, it was what they were to each other. Mirrors in which each of them could see only the best of themselves.”

Told in dual POV, this character driven plot focuses on the connection between Domenico and Seth and how their past deeply influences their future. While Dom and Seth have such diverse personalities, they share core commonalities finding comfort and love in subtle and overt gestures. Reconciling the time when Dom and Seth were in Germany was a huge hurdle to overcome. Additionally, with their commitment to Mark becoming part of their family, their bond becomes even stronger.

With Dom and Seth so far from home, the ongoing plotline of the Villani family saga continues but with new leadership, there is also renewed hope one day this duo can return to Italy. Whether these alliances can be trusted is yet to be revealed.

It’s no secret that Domenico Acerbi is one of my favorite fictional characters and with each book, he and Seth continue to grow. Their sexy banter and complimentary personalities provide intense and humorous times. With Mark in the periphery, he also adds dimension and has become an integral component to their family unit.

As always, the writing team of K.A. Merikan offers an erotic read with compelling characters and a stimulating plot. With the series end coming in book six, the feeling is bittersweet as I look forward to reading what happens yet selfishly don’t want to say goodbye.

This book would appeal to those seeking an erotic romance embedded in a mafia setting. I highly recommend!

Whew, what a fifth installment to this crazy good series.

5 books in, and Seth and Dom (and Mark) finally cross the border. Although, since it's this series...it doesn't go as planned.

When Dom gets injured and has to be laid up for a few months (and they lose their money, which you have to find out how and why when you read), they're strapped for cash and Dom, who sees himself as the provider of their little family - and generally is - wants to find work even while injured, but Seth is not having it.

Seth feels like he is useless (he isn't) when Dom gets injured because Dom usually takes care of everything, but he doesn't want to be useless anymore, so Seth goes out to look for a job. Only, they're in Mexico now and Seth can't speak Spanish, and the only guy that hires him for "construction work" is Miguel, who is seemingly the head of the local cartel and who is able to speak English so Seth can communicate effectively with him.

Not the smartest thing to do, but Seth is determined to provide for their family when Dom can't. He wants to be able to do as much for Dom as Dom does for him.

But Dom...is Dom. And he doesn't like that Seth is going out there and being worked to the bone and then when he finds out exactly who Seth works for, being in such a dangerous situation.

This whole situation brings up old scars, things these two haven't truly dealt with. Like what happened in the first book with their first time, and another time.

I like how what happened was acknowledged, and that Dom took full responsibility for it. Even if Seth wasn't sure if he wanted it - like he wasn't completely opposed to it - him not being 100% on board should have stopped Dom and he didn't. I think Dom needed to take responsibility for it and show how regretful and sorry he was for them to move past it.

Because when Dom goes way too far in his overprotectiveness of Seth, it brings up some bad memories for Seth and these two actually spend a few weeks apart. Not fully, they're still around each other, but they're not exactly....together. Dom isn't allowed to touch Seth and Seth just isn't sure if he can continue being with Dom.

This book, so far, was their toughest battle as a couple. It wasn't easy, and if they hadn't talked eventually then they for sure would have fractured. But the important thing is that they did talk, really talk, about what happened in the first book that hangs over them and hasn't fully gone away.

Relationships are fucking hard. Throw in being a part of a mafia family and one character especially being very morally gray (and yet still somehow devoutly religious...) and them being on the run and you've got and even more complicated relationship, and even harder one.

And these two don't exactly hold back when fighting - harsh words are said, nasty words are said, and both get hurt by those words. But the wonderful thing about these two is how they make up as well. How they talk to each other, eventually.

I also loved how this book acknowledged what Dom did to Seth in book one was not okay. And yeah, circumstances were different and at the time they barley tolerated each other, but that still doesn't make it okay.

But Dom now...now he treats Seth like a king, like the most precious thing. It's beautiful to see how far they've come.

Definitely a great book, I loved it. Whew, what a series this is. I love Seth and I love Dom (even with his misogynistic bullshit and how he thinks "real men" should act and...I hate him at times, but I love him. Oh how these are able to to do that is astounding. I feel like if another character acted like how Dom sometimes acts...I would hate them. But not Dom...*sigh*)

Whew, onto the next book. I know I'm nearing #7, which several reviews said was the hardest on Seth and Dom's relationship, so....fun times! lol. Here we go!

If by some cruel twist of fate you haven't even started this series, don't go another day without experiencing for yourself what all the hoopla is about!

I am just going to call it- this is the best of the five books of the series, and that's saying a lot!

 photo tumblr_static_spica-_-russian-roulette-spica-ec-8a-a4-ed-94-bc-ec-b9-b4-35638122-500-281_zpsfgwq3cq0.gif

Just when you though things were pretty difficult for Dom & Seth, an accident turns everything topsy turvy and established roles get shredded, much to the dismay of the MC's.
A new reality triggers desperation and helplessness brings on anger that cannot be contained.
Don't they say you always hurt the one you love?

 photo tumblr_nnftomxtvT1ur8rsuo1_500_zpszehhyr06.gif

There's a shift in the balance of the relationship which rakes up old grievances and brings old resentments of abuse to the surface.
There's no moving forward without dealing with the painful past.
On top of that the two are joined by a permanent addition to their team and observing Dom take on a father/mentor role to Mark is just priceless.
When daddy and daddy fight, it's inevitable that the child always suffers.

 photo tumblr_static_d7l639ilom0c4wck8kckso088_zpsiavvyi7q.gif

Love, which was the one constant in turbulent times, becomes a ticking time bomb, a barrel of gun powder and once the fuse is lit the reader is left waiting for the aftermath while the dust settles, with their gob hanging open in shock (like an otter that's realised it may somehow be related to Benedict Cumberbatch).

 photo 1-23_zpsjijky3ui.gif

In the midst of Seth & Dom's relationship dramas, we have a mega thrilling fast-paced plot that brings back a few familiar faces and sets the board for the next book (which couldn't come too soon, if you ask me).
Mayhem & madness, the mafia & a carpenter, religious pious & a poor innocent headless chicken, this is all riveting stuff!

 photo tumblr_mq3op6nM0g1r0o3jvo1_500_zpsmfoas2la.gif

Ultimately, what makes this book the best of the series is that it's the most beautiful love story for Dom & Seth. If you're a sucker for these two, you are going to melt because the one thing we know about K.A. Merikan is that they do their characters justice.

I just couldn't recommend this book more even if I tried.

This couple. I mean Domenico . This man deserves a time in therapy or psychiatry I don’t know SOMEWHERE. He’s crazy. A psycho for me. If a man did to me one of the many bad things he did to Seth I would not be there for a long long time. When I read the first book I have to admit their first night together didn’t rubbed wrong. But i reread it yesterday and yeah it was...complicated. These two guys. Their relationship is so complex to me!

When I started this saga I have to admit that Seth was my favorite one. I mean he was the cute big guy surrounded by wolves. Adorable. And for the firsts books it was ok but the further we went on with their story, the more I was hoping he became "more" too and I have to clap my hands because he proved himself so strong in this book! He was the rock. He took care of his two men and it was so funny at certain times (I mean been paid with food haha).

Domenico . My favorite one. Psycho but my favorite. He’s kind of unique. The way he talks. The way he acts. I’m so scared for Seth or Mark when they do stupid things 😂 I’m like « don't do that! You gonna pay for it really bad ». He’s an unconventional father. I found it funny. I’m so glad my father wasn’t like that haha, there would be so many babies at home 😂. Unconventional husband too. I mean this 21th century. Over is time when the man was the principal provider in the house. His constant desire to control everything was annoying for me. That’s why Seth’s reaction was the most beautiful for me. I hope he’s learned the lesson (I do not have so much hope => it’s Dom). I hope someday he’ll be less « impulsive, jealous, bloodthirsty ». I pray for it haha.

Mark : I like you. It’s been a time since you entered in our lives. And like Seth I was hoping you’ll be more soon. But you take your time. I mean it’s normal. You had to grow fast in this world. You don’t know anything about being just a child. You don’t know how to love properly. I can’t wait to see you fall in love boy. Want to see the man/girl who’s gonna conquer your big heart. You deserve to be LOVE for who we are. And I’m so happy you’re here even if you have to stop doing stupids things. But you’re so young! Domenico will teach you. The hard way 😂.

And can I say a word about SEXY Miguel ? I mean I love him haha. His story is so hard. I can’t wait to know more about him...is he gay too? If he his I want his book! Even if his straight I want his story 😂. So bad. This tattoo guy. HOT. Interesting.

Can’t wait for the next!

*** K.A. Merikan at their finest, once again ! ***
Dom, Seth, and Mark are on the run, heading for Mexico. Trouble finds them nearly right away as Dom gets injured and Seth must figure out how best to support them.

Dom hates not being in control and is unable to help. He's mad at his own injury. We got reminded how things have come to this journey. They officially make Mark their son, and are molding him into a man.
He's a great addition to the family.

There is reminiscing of how they came to be together, the good and the bad circumstances that made them stronger.
Dom is battling his Catholic doctrines as he tries to cling to the Church.

His faith is deep. We see good and bad guys, some new, like Miguel, and some they already knew, like Santo. It's a rollercoaster ride to end up where they need to be. Their bond is tested and we are riveted.
Dom and Seth are smokin' hot, dirty talkin', raw, gritty and powerful in their sex scenes, and constant smoldering glances. Lots of extreme emotions. You'll love this story as much as the others in the magnificent series.
Fabulous ! Highly recommended ! ENJOY !

4.5 stars. When it's a long time between books for me, I always forget how much I love Dom & Seth but I really do.

Seth has changed a little but not necessarily in a bad way. I was always afraid Dom wasn't going to get there in time one day but Seth has proved that he can take care of business too when he has to, even if his decision making still isn't the best sometimes. *sigh* Domenico is still Domenico Acerbi though, and I'm pretty happy with that. The thing I didn't like, well, seems like Dom is capable of learning too. That more than anything he says or does shows me how much he loves Seth. <3

I can't wait to see who Mark turns out to be. He's still a bit of a brat right now, and after what he went through before he met our boys, I'm happy Dom & Seth can give him that, let him be a brat for a while. But when things went down, he jumped right in and fought for his family. That was brave.

The next book sounds like I can kiss my fingernails goodbye *what else is new?* but I won't take so long to get to that one. As bloody and violent as this world is, I love every minute I spend in it.

And thank you again to Swift Marvel Elf for the book! It really is the gift that keeps on giving forever. <3

Swift Marvel Elf, you're guilty of spoiling me and I couldn't be happier about it!! Thank you for the marvelous presents. xxx

4.5 stars rounded up to 5 stars here on GR because still no 1/2 stars here on GR.

Sometimes love just ain't enough...

I'm sure that a lot of readers enjoy listening to some music while they read I know I do and sometimes the music just happens. That's what occurred for me this time around. 'Chokehold' is the 5th book in K.A. Merikan's Boys 'n Guns series and I have to admit this one started off a little slow for me. I'm not sure why but when I first started reading this book I was worried because I just didn't seem to be feeling that connection that I felt in the previous books...it was actually kind of scary because I really, really like Seth and Dom. These two men are hot and sexy, they're fierce and intense and so far I've found it fairly easy to get wrapped up in their story so just for a bit there at the beginning I was worried that maybe for whatever reason I'd fallen out of love with them. I mean honestly I couldn't imagine it but hey, sometimes these things happen...sometimes...but thankfully, not this time...

It may have taken me a bit to get back into the feel of things but sure enough I did and right about the time that I fell back into this story I realized that my brain was on a continuous loop of an old song by Don Henley and Patty Smyth a called Sometimes Love Just Ain't Enough and after listening to it a few times I realized that for this book for me this was Dom and Seth's song.

'Chokehold' definitely delivers all of the action and suspense of the previous books in this series but unlike those books the real threat to Domenico and Seth's relationship is them. Dom and Seth have left the dangers of biker gangs and swamps behind and with Mark, the recent addition to their family in tow they're heading for Mexico and as with any trip nothing ever goes according to plan.

When Dom gets hurt during their border crossing. Things get complicated when Seth tries to take on Dom's role of provider and protector and Dom is unable to do anything to stop him while his injuries heal. Out of desperation Seth takes a job that places him in the cross-hairs of 'The Gravediggers' and at homes things go from bad to worse Dom begins to heal and tempers run short and begin to flair.

Their love may be as strong as ever but the question becomes is it enough. What happens when harsh words are spoken, feelings are hurt, faith is betrayed and trust is broken...things are said and done that can't be undone or taken back, old wounds are re-opened. How do you come back from that? Neither Seth nor Dom can imagine a life without each other so they're left with the question of how to make a life with each other.

Seth is Dom's light. He's all that is good and right in Dom's world. He's sunshine and innocence and there's nothing that Dom won't do to keep it that way. Dom is Seth's darkness. He's what keeps the ugly side of life at bay. If it will keep Seth safe, if it will keep that light of innocence burning in his eyes and keep the darkness away from his soul then Dom will go there he will do what needs to be done without hesitation.
"I'm honest. I wake up everyday, and I breathe for you." whispered Domenico without shame, because nothing that he said was for anyone else's ears but Seth's. "And without you my life is losing all of it's color. I'm stuck in a black and white perfume commercial," he said shaking his head.

The growth that we see from these men as a couple and as individuals was so beautifully done. I freely admit a few tissues were drowned during the reading of this book. Like the song says "sometimes love just ain't enough" but it doesn't mean that it's not a good place to start to find what is.

'Chokehold may have been a slow start for me but once the pace picked up there was no turning back and while it may not have a title or a release date yet, book #6 is already on my TBR list. If you haven't read the previous books in this series I strongly encourage doing so before reading this one.

Literalmente kkkkkkk

I've said it before and I'll say it again....I just love Dom and Seth!

One of the best parts about couples in K.A. Merikan books is the grittiness. They are real and raw. They love big, but they also fight big. They say things that hurt each other, but would also die for each other.

Thus is the continuing tale of Dom and Seth. Dom is a ruthless killer that is 100%, head of heels, in love with Seth. Meet Seth, a big teddy bear that loves to cook and is equally in love with Dom. Their relationship has been nothing bu fireworks since this series began and I can't get enough of them.

They are still on the run at the beginning of this installment. But it's not just the two of them anymore, as they picked up Mark in the previous book and he is slowly becoming a part of their family.

Between Dom and Seth, Dom is definitely the Alpha of the relationship. He makes the decisions and will always bail them out of trouble. He takes care of both Seth and Mark and loves doing so. But what happens when Dom becomes the person that actually needs to be taken care of?? Here comes Seth to save the day lol......well, in a perfect world. :)

I absolutely love Seth when he is trying to do his best to take care of Dom. He really wants to succeed and he tries so hard even though, at times, he is totally out of his comfort zone. Poor Seth! It seems the more he tries, the bigger he fails. His heart makes him very trusting and that always leads to an explosive outcome. When he is trying to help Dom, he also tends to leave out details so Dom isn't 'worried' and this also tends to backfire. Trust me, whenever Seth says something like 'I've got this' or 'I'll take care of it'.....be very afraid!

Dom has the innate ability to know when Seth is over his head. Unfortunately, the more he tries to point it out, the more stubborn Seth gets. There are some things from their past that neither one of them has comes to terms with and it rears it's ugly head again and starts to distance them from each other.

Plus, we get some characters of the past that re-enter and start to weave themselves back into their lives.

One of my favorites parts of Dom and Seth is the way they love to role play. Those scenes are especially hot and it's times like these when you truly see their love for each other. I would read about these two forever and ever.

Once again, a brilliant continuation of the two boys that many have fallen in love with. I'm counting the days until the next book!!

Dear Kat and Agnes Merikan

You are both well-educated ladies of sophistication and great imagination. You are in the business of weaving the written word into spells of lust and wonderment so I thought it only appropriate to write to you this missive in hopes of conveying my feelings in the most eloquent way possible…

Fuck you.

Seriously, how very dare you?!

I am used to the two of you playing your cruel games on my libido but not on my emotions. And yet, here I am, writing this letter as a mere shell of the person I used to be. A broken down, desperate and wanting, heaving hot mess of a shell. The rational person I have grown into in my 33 years on earth only but a distant memory in the wake of the devastation that is Dom and Seth. Am I being overly dramatic? Maybe. Is it deserving? Absolutely!

You two should be ashamed of yourselves! You should be using your powers for the greater good. To cure cancer or bring about world peace. Instead you use it to slay the hearts and minds of unsuspecting readers. Instead you hawk your Dom and Seth contraband on street corners and digital retailers and turn us all into junkies jonesing for our next hit.

To say that I loved this book is simply not enough. Adore, worship, revere, venerate and devote are also words that don’t seem to quite hit the mark. How do you put into words a book that put you through the ringer? A rollercoaster of extreme highs and extreme lows? I could go on and on about this book. How the power between Dom and Seth has been shifted. How they broke my heart at times, how they made my heart palpitate at other but how they burned so hot together through it all regardless. I could say how much Mark creeped into my heart, or how adorable Seth still is or how watching Dom be vulnerable made me ache. I could talk about the suspense. I could talk about how I couldn’t put this down. I could talk about how this is the fifth book in the series and I still don’t have enough of them!

But you’ll just have to use your imagination. Like I have to use mine to imagine that the world isn’t a terrible place right now while I wait for book six!

Regards

Me

This one is my favorite so far.
Loved Mark addition to the story!

Why not 5 stars?... Well. I really like this series. I love Seth & Dom together. They are wild, passionate, intense, completely insane!!! They're HOT!

description

But I struggle a lot with Domenico's character... I usually love having both PoV but here it just make it worst. He is so controlling and archaic... I hate most of the things he thinks...
And yet... Here I am, unable to put down the books, fascinated with the story and these MC's... But yeah.. That is the only reason I can't go all 5 stars with this series.

So... Our favorite mobsters find themselves finally in Mexico. After unfortunate circumstances, they, yet again, get stranded..
Seth have to take charge and he is not that good at it... But Domenico is there to be THE MAN!

description

Anyway.
Like I said. I LOVED Mark addition to this little family. I really liked Dom with him. It actually helped me a lot to empathized with him.
Seth & Dom's relationship is really insane. And intense!!! That's the case since book 1 and that has not change here!
They actually talked and get some things straight here, not enough in my book but whatever...

LOVE... It can't be explain. And that what it is here.
PURE. EVERLASTING TRUE LOVE.
I really believe that. I am not a fan of Domenico but I really felt the connexion and the love and passion of him and Seth.

I'll definitely continue with them...

Dom, Seth and Mark are back and it's time to cross the border into Mexico. Too bad things don't go as smoothly as planned. Do they ever?

Dom still needs to be in control of everything. Here we see that he feels his control slipping due to circumstances beyond his control and he lashes out. In actions and in words.

Seth just wants to feel useful. That he's not just waiting around for Dom to figure everything out. He can help right? Make some decisions and get them through some tough times.

This is not about me. It's about your pride. It's always just about you and your ego.

Things seem to fall apart for awhile. Past actions are coming back to bite Dom and Seth in the ass. The blowup forces them to actually have a serious talk to try to find closure for things that occurred at the start of their relationship.

I'd rather live without air than without you.

*sigh*

I love Mark!! He's trying to find his way in his new family. He gets caught between Seth and Dom and is just trying to do what's right. He's growing up and acting more mature. He's a made man afterall.

Though this is not my favorite book in the series it's really quite good. It's setting the stage for the return of Dana (UGH!!) and the move to Columbia where things are sure to get bloody!!

I received this book in exchange for an honest review

Wonderful new book in this series! I loved reading about Dom and Seth again. It was great to meet a new character, Miguel, who is hot and gay and maybe he will have a romance in a future story. I'm glad that Mark is still part of the family and I'm actually looking forward to Dana being back for the next book, too. Dom and Seth's family seems to keep growing. I can't wait for the next book in this series!

Chokehold was another awesome addition to this series. As usual the passion and love between Dom and Seth is one of my favorites. I found in this story that while Dom and Seth are deeply and obsessively in love with each other past hurts and insecurities were dealt with and I found that they were finally able to move on and I loved every moment of it. The addition of Mark to their family is great and I look forward to the man he will grow to be. I loved the ending with Dana and it looks like these boys are headed to even more danger. I can't wait to read the next book.
