The Old Corner Post embraces life. Sometimes we are so busy we do not take the time to stop and reflect on our lives. Like an abandoned farm with an empty house and a rusty gate. The author takes these symbols and causes the character in the, The Old Rusty Gate, to realize he has shut people out of his life for fear of being hurt or being too busy to make close friends. On the humorous side, two friends down on the farm try to make a chicken fly with an invention to thrust the chicken into the air, throw in a small trouble making boy and a jug of old hoot and you have the hilarious Ballad of Carl and Ab and the Chicken Accelerator. The fantasy world comes alive in, Hopes Heart the Journey to Free. Have you ever seen the Lord in a Christmas tree? The author has and he explains what he sees in the poem, The Christmas Tree. The author takes you to, Moon Lit Mountain, Nights Meadow, The Evening Star The Call, and much more in The Old Corner Post.
I am what you call a late bloomer, an old farmer turned author. If I had to describe myself, it would be, "A Christian Farmer Storyteller," if I could leave a legacy that would be good enough for me. I was sixty-three when I started to write my first novel, “Archomai, The Prince, The Scepter, And The Shield.” I have always wanted to write, and now I am seeing that dream come true. My third book was released this past fall 2015; it is a Christmas story, “The First Snowflake.” My first book published was a collection of poetry, the title, “The Old Corner Post.” It is a thirty-year collection of poems and ballads. My Christmas story for 2016 will be released December 6th; it is called, The Christmas Gate.
I have spent most of my life on the farm, and I do love working the land. There is a spirit of freedom on the farm that surpasses anything I have ever experienced. I have had many jobs, from truck driving to managing a plastic plant and most everything in between, but I always seem to drift back to the farm. I am truly blessed.
With my wife, our four children and six grandchildren, we live the country life. Our family is within twenty miles of each other, so we get together often. Family has always been important to me and gathering together especially on holidays is a high point of my life.
Thanks to the author for sending me a copy of this, along with my first reads win The First Snowflake :)
I'm not really the target audience for a book of poems, but I did enjoy reading through it. Some of my favourites are: The Winter Tree, The Ballad of Carl and Ab, My Rose, Hope's Heart the Journey to Free, and especially Rampaging Old Farmer which made me laugh out loud!
Received this book from Goodreads author T.A. Cline. I throughly enjoyed this collection. Thank you Mr. Cline for sharing this with me. I look forward to reading more of your books.
