Learning how to code is a common asset these days for the interested ones. As a full-time software engineer and a volunteer of a nonprofit organization such as freeCodeCamp where an individual can learn how to code and become a web developer, I can say it is a great "asset" that you can add in your set of skills. However, there are many misconceptions about it such as it is not learn-and-earn. You have to be smart enough to do the hard work like you would do in any other field.

Rob Percival is an acclaimed tutor who teaches web development through his famous course The Complete Web Development course 2.0. This book is sought of a companion to the course but on reading it, I can say it act mostly as an independent ebook. Learning to code is not about working 9 to 5 for an organization and provide services. It can also be about running your own business products where even though you do not code majorly, you can gather the team has enough knowledge on how to leverage the team by building an app or some other product that uses web/mobile services. Or you can travel full time and work on your laptop, the choice is yours.

The money is in all three different ways I mentioned and it does matter how to earn that. This is the core theme of Rob's book. He provides insights on how you can start developing a mindset such that you can monetize your knowledge and skill work as per your own wish. All the millennials reading this review could take a look at this book right now. In the book, Rob follows a model of 6 to 8 months where he briefly describes how an individual can progress up to $ 10000 (USD) estimation of wealth. The amount described is not guaranteed and not the timeline. Even though Rob describes different methods, not every method is doable or suitable for an individual.

The book has simple language so if you are even a bit familiar with programming and freelancing, this book is readable. Though, I am disappointed by the lack of in-depth insights from a guy like Rob Percival who has served in the industry for so many years.

If you have ‘great’ business ideas and then you can throw yourself into building websites, instead of asking someone else to do so. For me, it is about learning Code, and not about becoming a full-time programmer
It includes how to start your entrepreneur journey. How you can create some passive source of Income. It definitely helped me in at least one or more ways.

Very brief overview of the different ways to make money online. It doesn't go in depth much, but it does give you some very useful web-links and advice. There are a lot of ideas in here that I was unaware of which makes the book particularly useful. The amount of money you will probably make will most likely be far less the than estimated $10,000 unless you spend all your waking time and energy devoted to Web Design/Development. There's some very useful advice covered here and it makes no promises of you ever seeing a dime. I've only made a good $10 bucks myself while reading, but something is better than nothing. I plan to put to practice the knowledge I have gained in this book and am glad that it was presented in such a short and concise manner.

As something that came free with his course on web dev this is decent.

It does NOT teach you code.

It DOES give you a large variety of ways to use what you learn on his web development course to earn money. It is also very short and concise so I went ahead and read it all right away even though I have only done the introduction on the course so far. It gives me a nice idea of things I can aim for.

This is a companion book to the Complete Web Developer Course... But, as stated in the book itself, it can be used by anyone who is learning to code, irrelevant of which course you have chosen, or even if you are teaching yourself from free online resources.

The book contains useful insights on how to prepare for and embark on the (often intimidating) Freelance path.

Areas covered include:

How to update and align your online persona (twitter, linkedin, etc.)
How to choose the right freelance website for your needs.
How to prepare your freelancer profile.
Tips on how to build your reputation as a web developer.
How to efficiently bid for contracts.
Tips on how to use Wordpress.
Tips on how to build income generating websites for yourself.
Tips on becoming a niche service provider

And much more....

The making money side of things is really just a generalisation and assumption. Don't go into this book assuming you'll come out of it with $10K.

More importantly than that, Rob shows you just how many awesome avenues you have as a training web developer to earn cash. Lots of fantastic little bits of advice to get you started and keep you motivated.

The book goes hand in hand with his web dev course which is nice as well.

Definitely recommended for anyone learning!

Seems like a lot of good advice. As I read it cover to cover without stopping to do the money making ideas, I can't say yet whether or not I'll make 10 Gs or not, though I rather think, not. Still before reading this book, I wasn't sure where to go to try to make money with the programming skills I'm working on, now I know where to go and I have a good idea how much to charge and how much money I could potentially make.

Too short. Pragmatic, yet lacks content. Not a bad read at all, but honestly I expected more. The link Rob shares are very, very good.
