The first time I saw this book on Goodreads Giveaway I checked out what this book all about. Though title suggested some corporate fiction, it turned out different. The book was initially published in Hindi, this is the English edition.

This book is about a girl Shail who went from nothing to everything in ways of money and family. She was brought up by her single mother Vanashree, her father died in an accident. Before Shail was born and Vanashree did not know that her husband had left his great heritage behind. Shail started her first job at East India company, where she found out the illegal transactions of Bachhu Singh. That event eventually led to her kidnapping. Bachhu Singh found out that Shail was a granddaughter of a billionaire Olivia. Due to his inability to handle kidnapping, he transferred Shail to Mussa Khan a terrorist. Shail was rescued by her grandmother and her uncle Kran's efforts. She became the first trillionaire as she was the only heir of Olivia and Kran.

The story of this book is mysterious and interesting, but the writing style is bit poor. I presume Hindi version might be good, the translator was not able to give justice to original words. The story gets a little bit boring in middle but it catches up soon. Some of the characters' explanation is beyond need which gets boring, but the story held it together.

So, I wouldn't go as much to say I loved this book but I liked it.

Childhood memories are the best memories that one could ever have. The friendships and relations that we make in our childhood usually last long and is always special and close to our heart. In this book, The First Trillionaire by Sapna Jha, there is one such part wherein it is flawlessly portrayed how youngsters create affections for each other that is unexplainable inside and out. I discovered this section greatly and elegantly composed. In this chapter, there is a girl who has some strange yet beautiful feelings about a guy who is a foreigner and has recently joined her school. The boy is liked by all in the school because of his looks and stylish accent. This girl too likes the new boy. She is keen to take glances at him and wants to be friends with him. But she is always scared of herself in terms of her appearance and her English. How she finally manages to be friends with him and what her reaction was when she came to know about the feelings that the boy that had for her is worth reading. I am sure we all must have got through this phase of life at least once. Reading the same actually made me visualize the stories of my childhood.

The magnificence of such relations as I would see it is purest of all in light of the fact that there is purity. That honesty is plainly portrayed in this part of The First Trillionaire. On the off chance that you are looking for some perusing that takes you back to your old-school recollections then you should read this book by Sapna Jha. You will love the specifics that have been said in this book about building up a decent companionship with no give and take in essence. It is beautiful and heart-touching.

The title grabs your curiosity, doesn't it?

The story centres around Shail, a simple girl who makes it to a bank job with a lot of hard work. Her mother Vanashree goes through very tough times to bring her up.

Shail quips during her initial training that she wants to be the world's first trillionaire. This is however a story of her life and those around her and very little about her long term ambitions. The story breaks to the past after the introduction – the lives of her mother, the circumstances of her birth, her father, brother and her benefactor Olivia. As part of her job at the bank, Shail does very well – also helping the branch come out of tough circumstances. Shail has a well wisher in Olivia, who is a billionaire in UK, and also a business partner in Kran who is a scientist. The story develops well to reveal the interest Olivia has in Shail.

As part of her job, circumstances put Shail in conflict with the local goon Bachcha Singh, who has powerful connections. The enmity takes a serious twist when Shail is kidnapped and moved to a secret locations. At this point, more criminals including those with links to global terrorists get involved.

The first half of the book is an easy and engrossing read and the characters develop very well. Shail's humble background, her mother's struggles and her rising professional reputation all make for very good reading. The later part of the book introduces too many new characters and unnecessary complexity with many sub-plots. As a result the plot significantly deviates leaving loose ends in the original circumstance involving Bachcha Singh.

I got this book in a Goodreads giveaway. A book worth a read, especially for the story and key characters.

Who doesn’t like the old school stories where a Godmother paves the way to a little girl’s success? ‘The First Trillionaire’ is a novella that offers a chance to relive those old days, for it is based on a character that helps the protagonist materialize her dreams without asking for anything in return.

The First Trillionaire is a story about an innocent girl hailing from a village who dreams to become the wealthiest person. The story begins with the girl starting off with her career. Her belief on goddess Vaishno Devi imbibed by her mother since her childhood has now become strong, what she believes guides her through. The story unfolds with miracles happening, throwing surprises at her. Whatever she wishes for is bestowed upon her. But one morning, while on her way to her work, she encounters the shock of her life – a brutal murder. That provokes her to dig up the matter about the criminal.

Unaware, she was set on a dangerous path, the consequence of which is, she is kidnapped by an underworld criminal. She fails to escape from the clutches of the most feared gangster. All she is left with is hope.

The author, Sapna Jha has wonderfully woven the instances highlighting the delicate connection between the characters that surface in each chapter and eventually connecting with the protagonist, which in itself is the testimonial of the meticulous and minute planning of the plots. With the narrative description of every new character introduced, the reader is taken through the instances and their lives from their past to the present, delicately interweaving and interlocking to every other character what finally converges. The pace of the story unfolding, and the right choice of words used by Mr. Alok Jha to translate has made it all the more appealing. The captivating words bring in the religious zeal to even an atheist emphasizing on the unflinching hope that surprises us with miracles.

The cover page with its blending colours of the new currency notes is a big plus. And the sharp look in the eyes of a young girl featured on the cover page draws the attention of each one who happens to lay their eyes on. The reader for sure is already in picking up of the book for a glance and for sure will turn the book to go through the blurb. The word ‘hope heals’ mentioned in the end of the blurb will definitely strike a chord with each reader, relating them with some of their life events realizing them about the invisible divine force that is driving us. Coincidence or logic, many of us may call though.

And as the reader turns on to the prologue, there are these wonderful words that soak the readers triggering their interest, ‘For the world, she was born out of wed-lock.’ The foreword, right from the beginning till the end showcases the author’s complete surrender to goddess Durga and Mata Vaishno Devi.

To sum it up, the book is an enjoyable read except for two little glitches I found. Firstly, the lengthy narration of all the not-so-important characters that side-lined the protagonist and secondly the unrealistic picture of a ninety-four-year-old who is able to comprehend the complexities of the business and is updated with the technology of Facebook and mobile operations.

Shail, a poor girl brought up alone by her mother lands a job in a government bank and comes in contact with the big bad world where she meets new people, learns new things, gets laughed at , sees miracles happening, the source of which being a lady she met on Facebook.
When you get all the good, karma balances it with the bad as well and Shail is sucked into the crime world of Bachcha Singh, as the hostage of course.

The poor village girl turns out to be the heir to the topmost wealthy minds of the world called Olivia and Kran.
The connection hikes Shail’s value in minutes and once when she was held hostage for her honesty, now she is held for the unimaginable benefits that her kidnappers can derive from him.

What exactly is the story of The First Trillionaire, was it any struggle or all chance?
Read the book to find out.

The book has an eye catching cover that adds to the plus points of the book.
It has been very candidly written that makes it a simple read for readers and I appreciate that as well.
Shail’s character has been perfectly portrayed to the reader as a simple, sensitive and hard working girl and all other characters starting from the local goons to the ruthless assassins have been described well enough to give you a perfect picture of their being.

Unlike most Indian thrillers which are quite dramatic, The First Trillionaire has been presented in a straightforward manner in the first 100 pages which I found gripping because of the story of Shail’s mother which was an important aspect of the plot and needed to be introduced to the reader.
The author of the book happens to be a follower of a certain Hindu religious deity and that has been clearly reflected as one of the characters of Shail. The book has a certain aura attached to it that makes the reader feel a bit different.

Most abduction thrillers deal with the struggle of the hostage for freedom while this book focuses more on what was the response of the outside world to Shail’s kidnapping.

Despite the fact that I loved Vanashree’s and Kran’s past life and they were important, the author has taken the pain of introducing each and every character with their back stories and going with the flow of reading them all, I concluded that they just added to the number of pages and could have been avoided.

The first chapter of the book makes the reader expect a lot more than the thrill provided regarding Shail’s kidnapping. It has been kept way too simple to match the taste of anyone who picks it for a read.
Shail’s dreams of becoming a trillionaire would have been much appreciated had they had any reason behind them, rather than being just some day dreams that she uttered in her training programme.

Glued till the end!! The First Trillionaire, an intense journey of a simple yet ambitious girl will not let you keep the book down unless you have finished reading it. From Vanshree’s school life to Magnolia’s trotty ride, from Peter’s first day at the school to Kran finding out that he has a niece, the plot will never leave you feeling bored. Every word written will ensure that you are able to visualize the story in a way that it’s happening in real life.

The faith and devotion of Shail towards Goddess Durga is an important feature of the story. A fatherless girl’s journey from a small house in a village to becoming the first trillionaire is phenomenal. Unaware of the reason behind her kidnapping, she is just left with hope and her faith in Maa Durga .A very well handled story with strong characters spread across the world. Olivia, a goddess like grandmother ensures that we all would want to be blessed with one like her in our lives too.

What worked well for me: The simplicity of the words, the beautifully described characters and the coincidental connections between them makes it an easy to relate story. A book filled with adventure, faith, suspense, true love, revenge will not let you regret even a word you read. The way the author has unfolded the events in the story is admirable. And if one has seen some dark moments in his or her life then you would develop a great liking for the book.

Rating: 5 out of 5. It is a very well written story. Without giving it a second thought it deserves full marks for the story, the title and the cover page.

My best wishes to Sapna Jha for her future writings. I hope she is always able to keep the reader involved into the story as she successfully did for The First Trillionaire.

Do you believe in luck? Do you believe that someone is up there listening to you and your every prayer and silently working on it, to make it true? Do you believe in God or Goddess? Do you think it is funny to dream big when you are no one in the eye of the world?

Well, Shailputri or Shail; as she fondly called is a firm believer of Goddess Durga. She dares to dream big, to become the first Trillionaire. She found her guarding angel Olivia Freeland through social media, who is a nonagenarian British multi-billionaire and facing succession problems.
Shail is an ordinary girl lives in a village with her mother. Her mother raised her alone and all her sacrifices come to pay when Shail selected for her first job in East India Bank. Shail stepped out of the village and far from her mother for the first time in life. Her ordeal begins when she sternly refuses to conform to Bachcha Singh’s suspicious financial transaction in the bank branch where Shail works.

The author left no stone unturned. It is a gripping tale of an unsophisticated and naïve girl Shail. The characterization is brilliant and the story looks relatable and believable. The story will not let you bore and so suspenseful to compel you to keep reading. It is a book for suspense, crime and mystery readers. A tale of a mediocre to become only one in the world, Shailputri, ‘The First Trillionaire’.

Sometimes, a story starts from very simple, mundane things in life, but gradually it unravels unexpected twists and turns and takes you to a climax of intense emotion. You get so involved that you don’t want to miss any moment of excitement. Well, this is exactly how I felt when I was reading, The First Trillionaire by Sapna Jha. An intense plot with an excitement at every corner kept me glued to the pages.
The First Trillionaire is a story of a small town girl, who has big dreams and bigger fortune waiting for her. Her fate was decided much before she was born, but God probably chose a twisted path for her to achieve what is truly hers. There are many aspects of the plot, which have been entwined tactfully to engage the reader till the end.

A village girl becoming a trillionaire by inheritance- WHY and HOW? Well, it wasn’t an easy journey for Shail, but slowly and gradually, her fate took her towards her destiny. And, all along her immense belief and devotion to Ma Durga kept her alive. This is a gripping storyline, which you have to read to believe that how a simple girl from India became the center of attraction for the world, including terrorists and foreign media.

What I liked: The language is simple, easy to follow and relatable. Yet, the richness of words at places are commendable. The imagery at places is noteworthy. The characters have been aptly introduced. No unnecessary characters were introduced. And, their individual stories were also complete and there are hardly any loose ends. The words properly spaced on the pages, which makes it easy to read.
The cover design is also eye-catching and impressive.

My favourites: I liked how the author has connected the characters of the story. Also, I liked the transition between fiction and reality in places.

What I expect: At places, I felt the situation could have been a bit more descriptive. Certain ideas seemed a bit vague to me, so I was left to make my own assumptions. In the end, the donation decision was a bit hard to digest, but I guess Olivia had all the reasons to do so. Overall, I enjoyed the plot as a work of fiction.

My Rating: 4 out of 5. The plot will keep intriguing me, whenever I think about Shail and her journey in my mind, whether somewhere, someone is really waiting to be the first trillionaire.

Wishing Sapna more success and best of wishes for her upcoming endeavours.

Ms.Sapna Jha’s debut work, “The First Trillionaire” is a refreshing read.. There is lot of emphasis on hard-work, dedication to duty, commitment to family etc. But, the unrelenting & blind faith, on the grand-design at the hands of Lord Supreme (Ma Dugra) tops them all. Although a bit cliché’d for many, such blind faith have been a life-saver to those who have passed though the darkest hours of their lives. It’s a choice to believe in (or not to).

The author has made a deliberate choice to take us though the memory lane … walking with the characters. The timeline spans from 1967 to 2016, for the reader to relate to the present day events, its history, and the repercussions to come in the near predictable future to those involved in these events.

It is only until a certain point in the storyline, we can credit wisdom and intelligence to the protagonist. After that, most of the events that come together are largely pre-ordained, by way of coincidence. True to her character, the protagonist is thankful to her favourite deity, Goddess Vaishnodevi of Katra. In the end, All is well.

An excellent story that I have read in recent times. I was surprised in the first place that the story was written in Hindi by Sapna Jha and has been translated by Alok Jha. While I have not read the Hindi Version, I am sure, the English Version has produced the story intact.

The story begins with Sahil, a simple girl who clears IBPS exams and joins East India Bank. She is a devotee of Goddess Durga and wanted to donate big amount to Vaishno Devi and other temples for which she wanted to earn and become the first Trillionaire.

The idea was sparked in her mind after she reads about the total wealth of the World and she wanted a portion of it. She had a tough childhood with no memories about her Father since he was dead even before she was born an her mother faced all difficulties as a single mom to raise her.

Things took a different turn when she befriend a stranger on Facebook who started pouring money as and when Sahil wanted. Who was she? Why did she start sending so much money to Sahil?

On the other hand, Sahil confronts a local don who kidnaps her for ransom. Only then the World comes to know who Sahil was. A rescue mission was underway on the behest of Kran who was the founder of "Near Earth Miners and Space Voyagers".

Why would Kran get into the rescue mission being a multi billionaire himself and who this Facebook friend of Sahil?

Read this story which would keep you hooked from the beginning till the end.

“For the world, she was born out of wed-lock, and without any identity of her own. She is naive in the ways of the world but she knows she is born and brought up right.”

The First Trillionaire by Sapna Jha is a thriller that describes the journey of an unsophisticated girl, Shailputri from a “nobody” to “the first trillionaire.” The author has endured many bitter moments in her past life. Yet her faith in the Hindu Goddess never faded away. Her ambitious nature and bold attitude made her pen down this book and hence introduce a masterpiece in the world of fiction. The book encourages one to follow their dreams even if they appear to be impossible. Wealth is something that every human being desires for. But there are only few who get the opportunity to become a well-known rich person.

“She carves her own path, head held-high and eyes full of dreams.”

The First Trillionaire is the story of Shailputri, who was an unsophisticated girl. Her only family was her mother Vanashree. The only motive of her life was to become a trillionaire. She initiates her dream journey by joining a government bank. She finds a ray of hope in her life when Olivia, her Facebook friend. enters her life and plays the role of a fairy godmother by supporting her morally and financially. Every chapter opens a new suspense. Later on it is revealed that Olivia was none other but Peter’s (Shail’s late father) mother and hence Shail’s grandmother. Shail gets threatened by Bachchu Singh, a criminal at every stage. Her life goes through the worst phase when she is kidnapped by a gang of international criminals. Will Olivia succeed in rescuing her granddaughter? Will Shail’s dream of becoming a trillionaire ever fulfil?

The title of the book is very catchy. The cover page is attractive and merges well with the theme and story. The blurb was good but it could have been better. The narration was undoubtedly perfect. The first part of the book was very interesting and full of suspense. The ending of the book disappointed me. While I read the second part of the book the ending of the book seemed to be very predictable. There were too many characters in the book that had made the plot complex and boring at a certain points. This book is an inspiration for all the readers as it holds the key to success.

The First Trillionaire by Sapna Jha is not just another novel but a fast paced journey packed with thrill, romance, heinous crimes and monstrous criminals. It is like a jigsaw puzzle where the different pieces once put together create a meaningful picture that the reader is bound to behold for life. The reader is left with no choice but to assemble the puzzle by identifying the uniqueness of every character in the light of the story that the author has intricately created with intriguing situations, drama and different locations.

Each and every character has a specific role, a definite portrayal and enough space to give a performance. Time and again the reader feels like an apparition who watches on as the story comes to life and the characters unfold one by one. All of them are linked well to the protagonist Shail and yet have their own life story that has a powerful impact on the reader’s mind.
Little Vanashree represents a school girl of all times. It is fascinating to see her transformation as she journeys through life and plays the role of a strong woman with élan. Peter and Sudhanshu stand for young and impressionable boys who grow up through turmoil to become successful yet withdrawn. Shail’s character signifies simplicity and is empowered throughout by her faith. Olivia inspires to be strong through thick and thin in life. Bacchu Singh and Henna belong to the evil underworld, with their like minded aides lurking in darkness, compromising all shades of morality and competing with horrendously risky situations and crimes. They portray the evil but the victim in them narrates their own story.

All in all, Sapna Jha is a fantastic storyteller. She hooks the reader with her vivid style of writing as she has the knack of creating situations and infusing life force energy in her characters. She involves the reader in the lives of the characters by creating a web of emotions and deftly takes them through time. This book is a must read for all age groups as it has messages that hold relatable relevance. My rating is four out of five. The cover of the book is impressive.

Hi everyone. I just wanted to share my experience reading the book “TheFirst Trillionaire”. One of my friends suggested reading the book which is a thrilling story. Yes if you are interested in a story which is having drama, action, sentiments, suspense, love, faith then I think this is the best book for you. The Story is all about a young girl who dreamt to be a Triollionaire and becomes one.
“The First Trillionaire” by Sapna Jha is a fiction story of an Indian girl. The story starts with the kidnapping of the Girl Sahil who is a bank employee. A common girl Sahil had joined the East India Bank with all enthusiasm to improvise the bank. In the process, she catches certain fraudulent transactions by certain notorious criminals leading to her kidnapping. At the same time somewhere in the world most powerful women 94 year old Olivia was searching for a heir for her vast empire.
The innocence of the common girl Sahil, her faith in the God is very well narrated in the story. Author has beautifully shown the first time experience of a girl travelling from a small village to Mumbai alone and her reactions as she is faced with social media which she was totally unaware till then. Author has tried to convey that a girl from a remote village with little exposure to the outside fast moving world could get on par with the rest who are well to do, by having confidence in herself and in the God.
I really loved reading the part of the book where she stands up to ride a bike when she does not even know how to ride a bicycle. There is one part of the story where everybody will be involved in the flash backs of each character. It is a beautifully woven sequence linking the past and the present of the characters and I am sure everyone would equally love the happy ending too.
The cover of the book is very catchy. Reader can easily understand as the book is in a very simple language. I suggest just go ahead and start reading this suspense thriller for the WOWful experience. I really enjoyed the second read than the first.
Wishing all the very best to the Author “Sapna Jha”, her husband and the translator of the book “Alok Jha” for their future endeavours. Also thanking them for giving us such a wonderful fiction.

Not just the story takes a number of twists and turns it also make you wonder and appre.

Each chapter in the book was so interesting that it kept me waiting what was going to happen next .

The story revolved around protagonist Shail an ordinary girl with extraordinary ambitions, a girl who was born out of wedlock . Her quest for success begins on social media where she meets many people

Shails life rolled into a routine, but the idyllic routine was soon to be disrupted  as she will have face off with the bachhu Singh.

The story has depth .In the middle she gets kidnapped and there is no ray of hope.
Is there no light at the end of the tunnel for her?.
Will she be able to fulfill her dream of becoming the first trillionaire.
To know about these inquisitive thoughts of your ..

Often you come across a novel with a great story. But it is very difficult and rare to come across a novel that has a fantastic story and is so amazingly described that you can become an instant die heart fan of the author. “The first Trillionaire” by Sapna Jha. One of the luckiest things that can happen to you in life is to have a happy childhood. The First Trillionaire is the perfect amalgamation of memories. The book simply revolves around a village girl who has led an uneventful life in an Indian village but she herself is quite remarkable in her village. The beautiful description of her life events keeps you engrossed till the end. And the most interesting thing is the quality of the language use for the descriptions. You don’t need to sit constantly a dictionary beside you. The simple language, beautiful descriptions makes it a wonderful writing.

Anyone looking forward to read this book, do not fall for these fake reviews. I repeat. Do not fall for these really fake reviews. Just got to know that these are paid reviews by the author and her husband. The book is a complete mess and not even a second of worth reading. The characters are imaginary, along with some seriously stupid and imaginary plots. Go for any comic series like garbage bin if you wish to purchase a book. Or even go buy a pack of maggi if you want to purchase anything. But do not waste a penny on this ridiculous book. Especially if you are a grammar Nazi. I felt like dying while reading the book. Horrible writing! If it was in my control, I would have given it a zero star. Sapna Jha, do not ever write a book again. Even if you do, please write it at least better and with a good plot. And do not pay random people to put up a fake review adding 5 stars to it.

I marked it read but after 70% of it, I just couldn't continue.
The storyline sounded interesting. But where's the sense in sidelining the main plot and filing the book with unnecessary backstories of characters who are not even important in the plot? Why would anyone be interested in the history of hired assasins or the sidekick of a gangster? What is the need in knowing how an immigrant turned into a mafia, when the main plot is supposed to circumnavigate around a village girl who becomes the world's first trillionaire? Minimum 10 pages is dedicated to the protagonist's maternal uncle and his NASA research ventures. I mean, seriously? Here the protagonist is kidnapped, there's no mention of her conditions.
The book just tried to test my patience. I read 70% of it. And I'm just deleting the ebook from my kindle.

P.S. I had received this book in exchange for an honest review

A book full of jigsaw puzzles of the lives of all the characters, fitting finally in the end.

It is a blend of genres and a mix of reality and fiction.

Good read, story moves on at the right pace and definitely a good time-pass.

Though the detailed descriptions of all the mafia goons lives seems unnecessary, the author tries to project why they have been pushed in to the trade, thus evoking a humane side to their stories. But it could have been cut short.

And lastly, the book's cover is great!

The First Trillionaire
By Sapna Jha (Translated by Alok Jha)
Review By Ila Garg

The First Trillionaire, a novel by Sapna Jha (translated by Alok Jha), is published by AuthorsUpFront Publishers. The cover is so apt which shows a girl with determined and ambitious eyes. The cover also has the new 2000 INR currency notes, which is what catches the most attention. With such an interesting cover, I was sure it would not disappoint me.

Could have been shorter. Riddled with unnecessary expansions. The story sputters and struggles before it meets a limp end. Won this in goodreads giveaway.
