A final shifter showdown is about to rock this small Texas town to its core…
Panther shifter Levi Sullivan had hoped for a little rest after his crew finally found the powerful dragon stone. But there’s no rest for the weary now that a powerful, evil shifter has returned from the distant past. Levi is trying his best to protect the full humans in his beloved hometown of Persimmon Springs, but the task feels impossible and the dragon stone doesn’t seem to be helping as much as he thought it would. To complicate matters further, he cannot hold back the love growing in his heart for one of those full humans—the beautiful Olivia Shaw. He knows this is a bad time for romance, but is there ever a right time? And does the dragon stone hold secrets Levi has yet to discover—secrets that could once again make love and peace possible in this small Texas town?
Olivia Shaw is ready to skip town. Although she’s lived in Persimmon Springs her whole life, she can’t bear the tension that fills the air when the townspeople discover that there are shifters living in their midst. This whole situation might be a sign that it’s time for her to move on. But when her curiosity gets the better of her and she puts her research skills to work to try to figure out what’s really behind this whole shifter phenomenon, she finds so much more than she ever thought possible. And when she starts to fall for the only bachelor in the shifter crew, she realizes that leaving isn’t an option. She’s going to stay and fight for her town and for the man who has captured her heart. After all, she might actually hold the key to victory for the good shifters. But before she can show Levi what she’s found, the unthinkable happens, and she can only hope that he won’t give up until he finds her and the secrets she’s uncovered.

This final story in the Heart of Texas Series brought everything full circle. Even though Levi and Olivia came together very slowly...it worked out because all of the characters from the other six books were included in this one. I missed the passionate love scenes in this one. There was only one towards the end and it was really short. I gave this story only 4 Stars because of this and because the cover model did not meet what I thought Levi would look like. The guy on the cover looks like a boy...not like a hot shifter man.
I hope this author continues with the Redwood Dragon Clan. There are 10 of these special dragons who were all orphans when this new clan was formed. I hope she starts with Knox's story.
Delightful series, well executed. Very much looking forward to reading the next few books in the Redwood Dragons series of books where William's adopted orphans find their mates. Next up wizards and the foiling of more evil plots!
I hated Olivia so much. She claims to be all about research and facts but was instantly hateful with her thoughts and words instead of trying to figure out information. She disgusted me and I wish Levi had a better lifemate.

I finished this book. I loved reading it. Levi also found his mate. They also sloved the problem and protected their town. Survived the attack and got the bad shifter as well. The Wilson's Boys Mom even found someone to love again as well, everyone was happy in the end.
I have waited to comment until I finished the final book. I loved it. This is a wonderful series filled with well crafted characters . can,t wait for the new one to start!
Shifters In The Heart Of Texas has been such an enjoyable experience… and although I’m sad to see it end, I’m also excited to begin a slightly connected story beginning in late February 2017. It has been a very emotional, and satisfying journey with these Shifters, their friends, family and mates. Because the Story Description gives you everything you’ll need to know before deciding to read Lone Star Defender, I’m simply going to hop into my reaction to the ending story in this amazing series.
I’m going to admit that Olivia was a heroine that I truly had to work at liking, to get past my initial dislike for her as a person. She’s known Levi most of her life, they went to school together, she had a bit of a high school crush on the boy he was, she knew his standing in their community. Yet she is angry at him for defending the town, for bringing this fight to her front door and for being exactly who and what he is at his core. She wants him and the other Shifters to simply leave town and take the fight elsewhere, not even considering that their families and friends lived in this small town. Olivia is a research librarian at the local library. She uses her talents to find out all she can about shifters in legend and myth to try to sort out truth from fiction and along the way finds out important facts… that she does not share with Levi. Why? Well, he showed up at her door unannounced when she’d just woken up and her papers were scattered about crazily – so she hid from him. And even then… she still didn’t pull herself together and bring the information to him waiting to pretty it up and make it neat. Really? People are gonna die and you’re worried about chronological order to your research?
Oh, I get it – you don’t have to yell. She’s scared, terrified by the unknown and sudden upending of her safe normal world. Yes, I do get it. Even using that same argument on myself, I still couldn’t connect to her. And for that I’m sorry. Levi, on the other hand, I adored. And for his sake, I’m glad that he found his mate.
Lone Star Defender brings the mysteries to a close, introduce us to two new characters who will play an important part in this story and the next in line series. We get the chance to see all of the other Shifters and their mates, .. and perhaps best of all for me was seeing that love isn’t only for the young, but for the young at heart as well. Love knows no age restrictions. And that part of the story truly made me smile.
It’s been one heck of an adventure, and I wouldn’t have missed one moment of my time with these interesting, engaging and determined characters. If you haven’t started the Shifters In The Heart Of Texas series, I would strongly encourage you to begin. You’ll find likable characters (for the most part), an interesting story arch and some additional Shifter lore. You’ll be hooked.
(note: I let this review stand for a day – and I don’t feel any differently about Olivia today so my rant remains – it’s not mean hearted, simply didn’t connect with her for those reasons)

Olivia Shaw is ready to leave Persimmon Springs after learning that shifters aren't just a thing of fairy tales and her high school crush is one of them. When Levi Sullivan and the shifters of Persimmon Springs realize that in order to keep the citizens safe that they must expose what they are, he's unsure of what the backlash is. The only single one out of his group, Levi volunteers to be the town spokesperson not realizing that it would lead him to his lifemate. After saving Olivia from an attack their bond starts to develop. Olivia becomes determined to research as much as possible about shifters and the myths surrounding them and in the end, ends up leading the good shifters right where they need to be. Will the defeat the enemy? Will the new loves developed through the journey survive the war?
Excellent ending to this series and I am really sad to see them go! Loved that Ma even got her HEA. Loved how Olivia and Levi went to school together just like Max and Cassie. Both of their characters were perfect to counter the other and loved how Olivia had a huge hand in winning the shifter war! Great book and cannot wait to see what the author comes out with next!

Thank god they finally caught Rocco, now let's see what's next on the agenda for them. I hope Knox has a mate somewhere out there too. Glad Levi got his happily everafter
I felt that all these books were written quite beautifully.. I loved how each book continued not only the quest but also a different shifter story as well. Good job.
I loved this entire Shifters in the Heart of Texas series. I was glad to see Levi get his hea and Olivia was perfect for him. This book ended this series perfectly, glad to see there will be a spinoff with the Redwood Dragons.
I truly loved this series, and can't wait for the Redwood Dragons. I have read all your other books and must say they just keep getting better. Your characters are great, and the storylines just kept you tied up in knots.
