Mary Kate Doman holds an M.A. in Children’s Literature and Writing from the Gallatin School at New York University and a B.A. in English and Creative Writing from Loyola University in Maryland. She is a Children’s and Young Adult Book Consultant with over ten years experience in children’s publishing. She has worked both in-house and as a freelancer marketing books to the trade and educational markets, and has authored over 25 books for the youth market. Most recently Mary Kate wrote an early reader series titled All About Big Machines (Enslow, 2011). She currently writes, edits, and consults for major children’s publishing  houses around the world, writes for popular kids television shows, and teaches Marketing Children's Books in the Graduate Publishing Program at Rosemont College. This is a book designed for adult new readers, but it's good for kids, as well. A family goes to Vanuatu, learns about the culture there, and experiences a crisis in nature.
