Guardian of Fate is such a breath of fresh air, it has such a different storyline than everything out there at the minute. It is beautifully written and I fell in love with the characters quite early on. There is a roller coaster ride of emotions throughout which kept me on the edge of my seat.

Cassandra (Cassie) is a Guardian of Fate, she gets visions of mortals that are in danger from the Demons of hell. It's her responsibility to change their fate and keep them alive. Cassie has been doing this for quite some time with not to many problems but when her visions start to change, strange things start to happen.

Cassie meets two men in a bar called, Caleb and Hunter, One of whom is too familiar. He just so happens to be the mysterious stranger from her strange reoccurring dreams. Both men insert themselves in Cassie's life, but they are not who they say they are. Cassie knows something is not quite right from the off.

Cassie finds herself in the middle of an age old battle of good Vs evil, but her soul will be the one to tip the balance if swayed. Cassie is not who she thought she was either and she discovers so many shocking revelations about herself. She has spent a good part of her life changing other peoples fates for the better, but she never thought it would be her fate that would need changing. Who can she possibly trust to be her Guardian of Fate?

The ending had a very unexpected outcome, which has now left me dying to get my hands on the next instalment. Guardian of Fate is full of twists & turns, had lots of action and not forgetting some steamy love scenes. L.J. Kentowski is on to a winner with this amazing new series.

My favourite characters were the main ones:

Cassie - She is a great friend & daughter, she is intelligent, funny, strong and very interesting to read about. I can't wait to see how her unexpected talents develop.

Hunter - I love this guy, he is powerful, tough, mysterious, speaks his mind and did I mention HOT?? I hope we get lots more Hunter action in future books.

*Special thanks to L.J. Kentowski for the review copy*

In her premiere novel, Kentowski delivers a thrilling joyride, dropping us in the middle of the millennia old battle between good and evil. Her creation of strong yet mysterious characters, lends credence to her detailed work on this novel. Kentowski guides us through the fictional world with a skillful hand, keeping the story anchored to reality but also taking us beyond the limitation of our own minds. The story is meaty and character driven, full of angst, regret, passion, and suspense. The author sets up a dream scenario delivering every woman’s fantasy of a strong, intense man completely devoted and focused on only her. With a staunch sexual rigidness that seeps through the pages, our hero, Hunter will make you yearn for the devil in your man. The intensity of the push and pull within the story is riveting and captivating. Kentowski keeps you turning the pages with what will happen next and the end…well dang! A girl after my own heart…
Definitely a read worth your time and money, but be prepared to become addicted…
Looking forward to the next book!!

This book reached out and grabbed me from the opening pages and never let go. I read it in two sittings. Surprising, because overall I tend to favor third person POV when I read a book. It could be the voice of the central character, Cassandra Cosgrove, a 'Guardian of Fate' who finds it her responsibility to save souls from Hell, or it could be the author's high-octane flow for the story that made it hard to put down. Either way, the pacing was fast and the characters intriguing, especially the two (yes, two) male leads, Hunter and Caleb, both of whom have more secrets and subplots than you can shake a stick at. Just when I thought I had things figured out, something new cropped up to catch me off guard.

There were several plot twists I didn’t see coming and an ending that caught me by surprise. I’m anxious for the second in this series and eager to see how the author resolves a number of the threads left open at the end. This was a satisfying read that concluded this part of the story, but left the door open for what promises to be a riveting series.

I won Guardian of Fate as a first-reads. thank you again.
I really enjoyed reading this book. It's well written, you don't really know who to thrust. When you think you know who's the good guy and who's the bad, you realise you were wrong, and it's a really good thing to be surprise like that. Those I thought I would hate ended up being the ones I loved the most by the end of the book.
I will be looking forward to reading the 2nd book and see what happen next.

I loved it! The Characters are interesting and diverse. Cassandra is the kind of heroine that I love to read about! She is a strong lady who cares about those around her and does what she can to help them, no matter the personal cost. If you are looking for a new adult series, this is it!

Cassandra is a Guardian, her job is to save human souls. Demons, shadows, stalk humanity, targeting people, hunting them down and then killing them in perceived accidents, their souls then descend to sheol – hell – where they are enslaved as the demons prepare for their war against heaven.
Cassandra saves those souls, her visions guide her to the targeted humans and give her the chance to change things, to push the victim away from the crashing car, to pull them out of danger, to save them from the shadow-manipulated chance that would kill them.

But her life just got a lot more complicated. The Shadows have changed their ways of working and a new threat is targeting the humans in her visions. Worse, she has come to the attention of a different form of demon – and these Seekers don’t hunt humans, they hunt Guardians. And Cassandra, with her newly revealed ancestry and bloodline is a prime target for them.

Her life uprooted, she has to decide what to do – and which of the disturbingly attractive and oddly compelling new men in her life to trust all the while being hunted by demons and discovering that everyone around her was keeping secrets from her – including exactly what she is.

Let’s start with some of the problems I had with this book

I don’t particularly like Cassandra, the protagonist. She talks like a strong, independent woman and a decent protagonist – but she doesn’t act like one all the time. Part of that is the circumstances she’s in – her whole world has changed, everyone she knew was keeping secrets from her, she’s learned whole new things about her life, her family and even what she is and has had her life threatened on a regular basis. Given the circumstances, it’s reasonable for her to be a bit shocked and lost – so her crying, even fainting, and running around following other people’s plans are not bad things – but because I haven’t seen her in any other context yet, this is what I see. A woman who cries in emotional stress, isn’t very proactive and tends to follow other people’s plans and leads.

Her whole relationship with Hunter is fraught. From the very first moment they met, Hunter was pushy. And that quickly escalated from pushy to outright molestation – repeatedly touching her when she firmly said no. Putting his hand on her thigh, on her bottom, even undressing her when she fainted. He repeatedly forces kisses on her when she says no and in one memorable scene tries to force his tongue in her mouth while she firmly keeps her jaws closed.

And yes, she does say no and she does call him out on it not being ok – but still stays with him and doesn’t once aim a swift kick at the yin-yangs or even a slap across the face. And for every line there is with Cassandra saying “this is so out of line, how dare you” there are 10, 20, more talking about how hot and sexy he is, how his touch sends electricity through her and how amazingly gorgeous, compelling and yummy he is. And, of course, they do end up together and declaring their love for one another (after 3 days of acquaintance. And yes, I really do dislike that trope). This ends up making her protests about him constantly groping her seem less “how dare he, that’s pure arseholery, get me a restraining order and some pepper spray” and more “aha, feisty lady playing hard to get.” It’s another “no means keep pressing until she finally is swayed by your awesome masculinity, you stud you” moment. For that matter, I don’t understand why Cassandra so instantly and repeatedly trusts Hunter, even with her life and the lives of her friends and family.

Imagine trying to go to school and work and live a normal life, when at a moment's notice (or vision's notice) you have to drop everything and run off to save a complete stranger. That is the life of Cassandra ever since she she was 16 and found out she was a Guardian. Demons roam the earth, causing innocent victims to die in horrible accidents and sending their souls to be enslaved in Hell. Guardians have visions of the accidents just before they happen, allowing them the chance to save the victim. Cassie is doing her best to live her life and perform her duties as a Guardian until the game changes. She is now the target and Hell wants her badly.

Who can she trust? Well, apparently no one. It seems at every turn Cassie is finding out people are hiding something from her or just out right lying to her. Hunter and Caleb enter her life at the same time and they both want her, but neither are what they seem. Her room mate and best friend, Nora, has her own secret agenda and even Cassie's own mom seems to be keeping secrets. Every time another piece of the puzzle is revealed, I wanted to scream right along with her. Seems everyone thinks they know whats best for Cassie and it always involves hiding the truth from her. How are you supposed to fight for your life when no one will give you the answers you need? Cassie is determined to get her answers, even if it means giving up her life.

I do wish there had been a little more relationship building between Cassie and Hunter. Towards the end, Cassie finds out Hunter has been keeping a secret from her and she lashes out out him and hates him for it. While I understand her anger, I thought her reaction was over the top. Every one has been lying to her and she forgives them all and moves on. However she can't forgive Hunter, when he has done nothing but try to protect her and save her life and the lives of her mom and best friend?

The ending sets things up nicely for the next book. I look forward to reading how she plans to find her father and what she will do about Hunter.

Get ready for a book that will pull you into an emotional tug of war! Cassandra is a Guardian of Fate which basically is someone who sees innocent people succumb to Demon persuasion and end their life or the life of others. Cassandra's job is to save those innocent people. After getting a vision Cassie high tails it to the location to save an innocent person but what happens is not what she expects. For some reason her vision was wrong and that never happens. While trying to figure out what went wrong and the fact that she isn't sure if she made the right decision she heads into a local bar. After entering she realizes that she is the only patron inside but pushes the uncomfortable silence away and makes her way to the bartender. After some light banter and flirting the door opens and in walks a man, the most gorgeous man Cassie has ever seen but there's one problem, He's been haunting her dreams for years.
Cassie gets a strong vibe that the two men know each other and can feel the hostility rising in the empty bar. Cassie takes her leave but not before the bartender Caleb, gives her his number and tries to persuade her into a date. These two men, Caleb and Hunter have plans that Cassie doesn't know about and they basically force themselves into her life. Some would think, hey two hot guys both wanting to be with me and that's what Cassie thought in the beginning but her perception of these Men quickly needs re evaluated, but who will she chose to trust and who will she run from?

This is truly a well written book that will grab your attention right from the beginning and not let go until the end. I find myself still thinking about this book days after I've read it! Fast paced, a love triangle gone wrong, and second guessing the Male characters. It so refreshing to find a Paranormal Romance that is like no other book out there. The ending you will not expect at all and it sets up perfect for book two in this series called Seeker of Fate due to come out sometime this Winter.

Book provided at no cost in exchange for an honest review.

Cassie belongs to the family business - a Guardian of Fate. The job of the Guardian of Fate is to prevent the innocent deaths of people whose souls Hell had targeted. (L.J. Kentowski, 2011, Pg. 7). When Cassie turned 16 she began having visions that alerted her to the impending wrongful deaths of people around her. As a Guardian of Fate, it was her responsibility to interpret those visions, find the place and people involved, and prevent the unnecessary death of the mortal. Only now, Cassie's visions are changing and she is freaking out. All of this coincides with the arrival of Caleb and Hunter into her life. And, making matters worse, one of these guys has been haunting her dreams for years.

I found this novel very intriguing and full of plot twists and suspense. You spend most of the novel trying to figure who exactly the bad guy is. This aspect keeps you completely engaged in "Guardian of Fate" and you get pulled in and are unable to put the book down. I love the chemistry between Hunter and Cassie much more than the chemistry between Caleb and Cassie.

This book is full of secrets that get revealed slowly throughout the story. Each character brings their own special gift(s) to the plot and are well developed. We get good history of each character at the appropriate times. As noted above, this book is full of plot twists. There are many different twists/revelations/deceptions, but the author does an excellent job keeping everything straight. I was never confused or lost.

The only complaint I have is that some of the dialogue is uneven. The conversations sometimes didn't flow well. However, the conversations ultimately portrayed what the author wanted them to.

The ending of this novel definitely keeps you guessing and I am highly anticipating Book 2 in the series.

Please note: There is sex in this book. It is not explicate or erotic but it is there.

My Review:
B- rating
This is definitely one of those books where you spend a lot of the book trying to figure out what the heck is going on and who exactly is the good guy and who is the bad guy. That alone kept me reading this book for a long time....I couldn't figure out what was going on and was definitely intrigued.

On her 16th birthday, Cassie found out that she's a Guardian of Fate. She can see when people are about to wrongly die and can change that fate. But suddenly her visions are changing and that corresponds with the arrival of two very intriguing men in her life...Caleb and Hunter. It's obvious from the very beginning that there is more to these guys than meets the eye, especially since Cassie has been seeing visions of Hunter for years. It just takes a long time to figure out exactly what their story is. As the reader, I found that both intriguing and frustrating. Honestly, if I hadn't been reading this book for review, I probably would have DNF'ed it because I had a moment where I got so impatient with that fact. I wanted to get to the real story...not just the set-up of it.

And honestly, the real story is pretty good, although very complex. LOL...and this is where the review becomes difficult to write because if I tell you about the real story, then I will be giving away huge spoilers in the book. Just know that nothing is as it seems and once it all played out, I liked where the story went. I completely ADORED the romantic story line...it totally made the book for me. I loved the depth of feeling and emotion between the two and although it happened pretty quickly, it worked for me.

The twist at the end...shocking!! I have no idea where the author is going, but I have a feeling it's going to get better.

I received a complementary copy of this book in return for an honest review.

About the book:

Cassandra is just your normal average girl who goes to college and lives with her best friend. That is, if think a girl having visions of people's premature death at the hands of shadow demons to be normal. Cassie, as she's called by her friends, is a Guardian of Fate. She uses her visions to help find these people and prevent them from meeting an untimely death that is manipulated by demons. Sounds simple, right? Not really. Add into the mix two very sexy men who seem as different as night and day, or heaven and hell, both vying for her attentions. Suddenly Cassie finds herself in the middle of a battle of good and evil without knowing who to trust.

My thought on the book:

I really enjoyed reading this book. It is full of lots of good plot twists and turns, lots of "who do you trust" moments, and some very steamy scenes as well. It has a very unique story and the author does a great job setting up future possibilities in the series. All in all a good first book to a series.

Would I re-read this book? Probably, especially before reading the second book.
Would I recommend this book to a friend? Yes

Since the age of 16 Cassie has been trying to save all the strangers she can as she is a Guardian. The Guardian's have visions of accidents the demons cause to kill people and send their souls to HELL. Now the tables have turned and they want Cassie. She can't trust anyone, her mom has secrets, her roommate even have her own agenda and has secrets. Everyone is keeping something from her. Two men come around Caleb and Hunter who would like to have her and they even have secrets. Everyone wants to save Cassie, but they do not understand the truth would be a better help then keeping all the secrets from her.

The story was fun to read, I wanted more of a story line between Hunter and Cassie, but otherwise a great read. One thing about Cassie that is irritating, she can forgive everyone else for the secrets they kept from her but not when it comes to Hunter. It will be interesting to see how things go for the two in the next book.

I will be looking forward to reading the 2nd book and see what happens with the father as well.

This book was a phenomenal start to a series. I can really see a lot of promise in the books that will come after this one. The characters of Cassandra, Caleb and Hunter were all well illustrated and excellently formed. Ms. Kentowski’s writing was very fluid and was so good you don’t realize your done the book till your reach her cliff hanger of an ending. As an avid paranormal romance reader I read a lot of similar books. What really stood out for me with this book was the interactions between the characters and Ms. Kentowski’s ability to have you flipping who you want Cassandra to be with. At one point I was so mixed up I was waiting for another character to be introduced just to have another choice for her. I did love both Caleb and Hunter. Not just because they were achingly hot, but also because they were smart, secretive and yes very hot. Cassandra contains everything you desire in a good heroine. She is also smart, supernaturally talented, strong and has a very sassy mouth. Overall, I highly recommend this book and the series it will become.

I was luckily enough to win a print copy of this book in a contest. It's cover is gorgeous and totally grabbed my attention. The beginning of the book was a bit hard to follow and was a little to overly descriptive about some of it's details. But once you get a few chapters in it started to flow as you start finding out a more about the major characters, and I have to say LJ kept me guessing. Every time I thought I had what was going on figured out she threw me for a loop all the way through to the ending. Even if some of the choices the characters made didn't always make sense (why would you wander off by yourself when the bad guy is lurking around?) I still really enjoyed the book and hope to see more in this series, because there is a new hunk in town and no matter his origins Hunter has earned a spot in my top 5 favorite sexy book bad boys and I want more! ;) Absolutely recommended.

L.J. Kentowski did a fabulous job writing this book. It was an absolutely great read and different from most of the things I have read, which was very refreshing. When I would think I had things figured out they would change, which lead me to keep reading to see were things were now going. Those I thought I would hate ended up being the ones I loved the most by the end of the book. I really liked Cassie, as I thought she handled things well as they unraveled but wish she would have used the strength she found out she had more towards the end of the book but with that said, by the end of the book she sounds like she will really becoming into herself in the next book. I cant' wait to see were things go and how she grows in the next book of the series, it sounds very promising.

If you read fantasy to discover new and exciting realities, you'll love Guardian of Fate. If you read fantasy to read heart stopping romantic encounters, you'll love Guardian of Fate. If you read fantasy to participate, however vicariously, in the battle of good against evil, you'll love the adventure. Whatever your preference, you'll never regret meeting Cassie as she seeks to learn just how complication life can be even for a Guardian!

Guardian of Fate had me hooked within the first few lines. The steady pace of the novel kept me turning pages, and the ending left me right where it should: anxious for the second in the series. Demons and seekers, guardians and angels, heaven and hell - this urban fantasy explores places beyond this world with ease and finesse. Great read. Seekers of Fate - here I come. *The romance is intense; those seeking clean romance may want to do a bit of skimming.*

Angels vs. demons mean non stop action. When a young woman needs to learn more about what kind of power she has, she gets way more than she bargained for. Seems like the demons have an eye on her power too. And they want it. The thrill ride begins. We meet Hunter, the head demon working for the devil. Who knew these 2 would have sparks and fight their own inner demons with these feelings. I couldn't wait to get done with this book to start #2 in the series. So good!

At A Glance
I wasn't blown away but I thought Guardian of Fate was an overall enjoyable book.

The Good
I was drawn into this story straight away. Cassandra has had a rocky life. It is her responsibility to save the souls of people in her visions from the damnation of hell. But all of a sudden her visions are going haywire and two mystery men try to insert themselves into Cassie's life. One of those men, Hunter, has been a fixture in her dreams for years. Soon Cassie finds out that the people she is closest to have been lying to her and the mystery men have brought her into a war between good and evil. But who can she trust? And will her soul be saved from a fate worse than death?

I think the premise was interesting and fresh. I always find the idea of hell to be truly frightening. Kentowski takes hell to a whole other level. Demons can damn any soul they want, and only a Guardian can save people from an eternity of burning. It's a war of good versus evil, and Cassie is right, smack-dab in the middle. She is special and both sides want her. I really did enjoy watching Cassie be pulled one way and another as both sides tried to persuade her to join them. The lengths the evil side went to was limitless which resulted in Cassie making some difficult decisions.

Hunter was a fun little mystery throughout the story. He seems like the bad guy at first, then he's good, then he's bad...and on and on. I see why Cassie had a hard time trusting him. You want to believe him but his past is just too sketchy.

I loved that I was genuinely surprised by the twists and turns of this book. I didn't know the answers to the mysteries until Kentowski wanted me to. And the ending has set up the next book in the series very nicely.

The Bad
First off, the punctuation was often odd, off, or just plain wrong. There were also many info-dumps, and you guys know how much I hate those. The dialogue was often interrupted by inner thoughts. It was extremely annoying. Sometimes I forgot what the characters were even talking about once we finally got back to the conversation.

Cassie was a major crybaby. I don't mind emotional characters, but really, Cassie was crying through at least half this book, if not more. Give it a rest, lady. Your life is crappy, suck it up. But more than that, Cassie was not the strong protagonist I hoped she would be. She was a pushover.

The ending, where Cassie lashes out at Hunter for keeping a certain secret, was way over the top. Cassie's overreaction put me off.

The Snuggly
We definitely get some passion and sex in this book. Cassandra and Hunter are explosive together but I did feel like Hunter was too aggressive. When he kept touching and kissing Cassie even when she said no, it made me feel uncomfortable.

Final Thoughts
I think the concept of this book has great potential as a series. I need to see Cassie grow as a character for me to want to continue reading though. The writing wasn't perfect but the mystery of Guardian of Fate kept me interested. Recommended to some paranormal readers.

Quote
There was no doubt in my mind that the man next to me was the same one who had been in my visions for the last six years. He was real, and he was at Luke's buying a whiskey? I almost felt cheated. For so long, I wondered what this vision was all about, feeling that it held some deeper meaning I would someday grasp. Yet, here I was at some seedy bar and the man in my dreams shows up and orders a whiskey. Now what? Save him from dying of inebriation?

This review and others can be found on my blog @ http://bookaholicfaggots.blogspot.com

I won this book from a giveaway hosted by a blogger named Jennifer Bielman. (I forgot her blog name. It's so long. I think it was Reading Urban Fantasy and...I forgot the other part). Inside, there was also a tiny note from the author, so I was really excited to read this one. ;)

The Cover:
Well, I think the guy's eyes are scary in the back. It's so bright and shiny. And the girl has this face on that makes you think wrong about the book, so when I was reading this book during class, I always covered the cover. No offense, but I don't really want my teachers catching me reading a book that the cover looks like it would be new adult. I mean, I'm still in middle school and I don't that bad of a reputation of reading porn-y books and thinking wrong, so gotta keep my reputation! LOL.

The Characters/Plot:
Cassandra Cosgrove - Cassandra is the main character of the book. The book starts with Cassandra in one of those trances. She is a Guardian and that means she will get visions of how people will die and her goal is to save them from their death. Soon, the leads on to her meeting two guys who has her confused about both good and evil.

Caleb - When Cassandra first meets him, Cassandra actually likes him and find that he is a nice, polite sort of guy. But later on when Caleb should her his true colors, Cassandra can't run away far enough.

Hunter - Yes, Hunter is a bad guy. But he's a sexy one. Apparently to Cassandra, is not what she wanted. But when Hunter saves her in many numerous situations, Cassandra couldn't help but give in to the strong pull Hunter has on her. Hunter is the type of guy who moves on in a relationship, fast.

But Cassandra have more important things to worry about, now that she is caught in a tug-of-war between Hunter and Caleb. It becomes even worse when the Devil himself appears to claim Cassandra for himself. But a surprising visit from the Devil's Queen might give Cassandra a hopw of living.

The Extras:
In the end, there's a love triangle. And really, it just got to stop there, right? yep. So gotta read the next book. Or at least find out who Cass is going to be with. I mean, the man she loves is trapped. But the evil turned to good. So how does everything work? Stay tuned to L.J. Kentowski to find out. ;)

I guess the book was okay. Not really my type of book, but I didn't hate it, so it's alright. I go for more young-adult romance. Maybe even juvenile fiction. ;D

The Rating: (1-10): 7.5

Guardian of Fate #1 has a good premise, a "Guardian" who has visions that allows her to intervene to save people from dying at the hands of demons. But there's not a lot of that in the story. The book is a paranormal romance, which is to say it's half paranormal stuff and half romance stuff. The romance bit doesn't feel all that romantic, and includes some explicit but well-written sex scenes.

I also felt that the romance parts were a bit repetitive, especially in the middle of the book. I probably would have liked the book better and rated it higher if some of the repetitive romance scenes had been cut and some additional paranormal scenes that expanded on the premise of the book had been added.

The main character, Cassie, came off to me as a pushover through most of the book; I did not see her as a strong female lead, but a young woman controlled almost completely by her hormones and unable to override them with her brains.

To me, the experience of reading this book was like riding down the highway and seeing a car crash off the side of the road--you can't take your eyes away until you're past it. Once you're past it, though, you don't seek out another car crash to look at. So that's how it is here; Cassie is the car crash, a total train wreck. I've read her initial story, but I very likely will not be going back for more of the series.

In the author's defense, while I like reading paranormal fiction that includes a bit of romance, I am not a huge fan of paranormal romances that are so heavy into the romance part; if you are, Guardian of Fate might be a good read for you.

I thought about rating the book two stars (it was okay) instead of three (like it). But the premise of the story and the parts of the book that dealt with that is deserving of four or five stars, so I can't only give it two stars.

Since she was 16, Cassie has been Guardian to humans, trying to prevent their deaths and saving their souls from the daemons who want to claim them. When Cassie loses a soul, she is devastated, but what she can’t figure out is why or how its happening. The daemons are getting smarter, finding ways to make it nearly impossible for her to save the people in her visions, but its not only the human souls they are after... (I know, that’s teasing you, isn’t it?) You’re just going to have to read the book!

The Characters: I really enjoyed the characters. Cassie, although confused and seemingly naive in the beginning really comes into herself and embraces what she has to do in order to get through the mess she has found herself in. While being swayed by daemon magic and feelings of lust towards one hunk of a man, she fights to stay true to herself while falling fast and hard. Hunter and Caleb, I’m going to put these two together because they are both really appealing men. Sexy, swoon worthy and very impulsive. I found myself battling over who was the good guy, who was the bad guy and who I hoped Cassie would end up with. As much as I loved them both, at times I wished Cassie would have kicked them both in the nuts and said, ‘take a hike!’ But...I am very glad she didn’t!

The Plot: With so many twists and turns I was always left wondering, forcing me to read on and find out, what was Cassie going to do? Who should she trust? And just when I thought I had it figured, another turn of events left me, once again wondering! I love that in a story! Good versus Evil...but who is truly evil?!

The Writing: I enjoyed the writing style and found it to be a very easy read, just enough description and action to keep me flipping pages. There was a bit of unnecessary use of names within the dialogue that sometimes brought the story to a halt, but that being my only complaint, this is a great read!

Overall: I give this book 4 stars! Great plot, great characters and I can feel an amazing series coming from this! The end left me full of anticipation for the next book and I cannot wait to get my hands on it!

At the age of 16 Cassandra Cosgrove found out she was a Guardian of Fate, which is a person who has visions of apparent deaths of humans caused by the shadows, she is then to go to the person's aid and save them. Guardians are human foot soldiers for heaven, in a sense, to ward off the shadows from completing their mission and bring the unsuspecting soul to Hell. In her early 20s she has a new vision and something just doesn't seem right about it, Cassie still goes to save the woman in her dreams, but something goes wrong, the vision is no longer the reality, and a human still dies. What Cassie doesn't realize is that this singular event then spirals into a whole string of tragic and life altering events, that brings her to question that if she is the Guardian of Fate for so many souls, then who holds her fate? Can she? These new events also clash with dreams of a lovely but scarey man. The man shes dreamed about for years has now come into her life, but she can't stand him even if he is the most gorgeous man she has ever seen, but he seems to be glued to her. When she finally meets the man from her dreams, another man enters her life, and he seems absolutely perfect. This turns into an intense love triangle, that starts to seem like it is directly corresponding to the new events that are happening. Cassie is thrown into a crazy week that turns her entire world upside down with the information she learns and what happens to her.

Kentowski has created a very fun and intriguing new paranormal world, which is quite a thrilling, nonstop ride. There are crazy twists and turns, that make you unsure of who to trust or know what is the truth. Since the characters hid so much from each other in the book, including Cassie from people who could help her, it frustrated me a lot, which is the reason for 4 stars from me. Other wise it was a great read, and a quick one considering the 300 pages. Along with an intense journey Kentowski added some spicy love scenes. So if you're looking for a thrilling story with some sexy romance, this is a great choice.

Book Synopsis

Fear of death is all too common. Visions of it chill the bones and skip heartbeats. Seeing it coming and knowing only you can rescue the soul of the victim from the fiery bowels of hell…that’s downright life-altering.

Cassandra Cosgrove’s life was altered at the age of sixteen when she found out that it was her responsibility to save the lives, and ultimately the souls, of innocent victims targeted by Hell’s demons. As impossible as it seemed at first, she was able to live a fairly normal life, while secretly fulfilling her obligation as a Guardian of Fate.

But years later Fate has its own plan when her visions begin drastically changing at the same time two mysterious men appear in her life. Cassandra suddenly finds herself caught in a battle between good and evil, with her own soul on the line. When it seems everyone in her life has a secret they’ve been hiding from her, who can she trust to be the Guardian of her Fate?

My Thoughts

This book is the author's debut novel and is full of secrets, lies, strong emotions, complicated characters and battles between good and evil. Not only is it action oriented but the whole time you are reading the story will keep your full attention so you do not miss what happens next! The romance that adds edgy spice is a secondary story but in no way detracts from what Cassandra has to face while coming to grips with who and exactly what she really is.
While this is only the beginning of a series it is one that paranormal fans will want more of, especially since the ending of this story leaves so many questions still unanswered for Cassandra.
