About the author

Vrindavan Lal verma was a Hindi novelist and playwright. He was honoured with Padma Bhushan for his literary works. Agra University presented him with honorary D. Lit. He received Soviet Land Nehru Award and the government India also awarded him for his novel, Jhansi Ki Rani.

Comprehensive ! ! Amazing ! !

सिंहासन हिल उठे राजवंशों ने भृकुटी तानी थी,
बूढ़े भारत में आई फिर से नयी जवानी थी,
गुमी हुई आज़ादी की कीमत सबने पहचानी थी,
दूर फिरंगी को करने की सबने मन में ठानी थी।
चमक उठी सन सत्तावन में, वह तलवार पुरानी थी,
बुंदेले हरबोलों के मुँह हमने सुनी कहानी थी,
खूब लड़ी मर्दानी वह तो झाँसी वाली रानी थी।।

यह पुस्तक झाँसी की रानी लक्ष्मीबाई के साथ-साथ और भी अन्य वीरों और वीरांगनाओं के बारे में है जिन्होंने अपने राष्ट्र के लिए युद्ध किया और वीरगति को प्राप्त हुए|अंत अत्यधिक मार्मिक और गर्व से भर देने वाला था|
जिन्होंने 'दे दी हमें आज़ादी बिना खड़ग बिना ढाल' लिखा और फैलाया अथवा जिन्होंने इसे सत्य माना वो इन वीरों का अपमान कर रहें हैं | राष्ट्र के लिए लड़ने वाले और वीरगति को प्राप्त होने वालों का बलिदान व्यर्थ नहीं जायेगा और उनकी कहानियाँ सदैव आने वाली पीढ़ीओ को प्रेरित करेंगी अथवा गर्व से भर देंगी और संभवतः सत्य जानने के लिए प्रेरित करेंगी|

The book is penned by famous Hindi Writer 'Vrindavan Lal Verma' and language of the book is Hindi. I remember reading this book during my High School days, it was one of syllabus books. This is said to be one of the best books on "Rani Laxmi Bai" of Jhansi.

The books starts with childhood of Chhabili and how she grew up into Brave "Rani Laxmi Bai" who sacrificed her life for freedom of the country. In the book, there is a discussion between Rani and a sage, where sage said that foundation of freedom needs the lives. She couldn't see the freedom she fought for; however she became the foundation stone of that freedom. This book shed lights on the War of Jhansi and War of Gwalior which made her immortal in the struggle of independence of India.

Loved reading this book again after so many years. It helped me to recall the story of this great freedom fighter and her words:

"I'll not give my Jhansi".
