Bijzonder.
I really really like this book and I’m looking forward to reading more from the series, the characters are interesting in the mystery is pretty intriguing, I’m definitely excited to see what happens next.
A lot of stuff that doesn't make sense/wouldn't happen. I know cozy mysteries aren't always suuuuuper realistic, but come on. The main character was also pretty stupid, so there's that too. Started out decent but ended up a disappointment. Won't be reading the rest of the series.
I really wanted to love this book. The concept was so good, the characters were fun and interesting. I enjoyed the back and forth between Felicity and Jefferson. It obvious that she's oblivious about Jefferson being completely enamored with her. They are really cute together, even though she's a little flaky.
My biggest issue with this series is the lack of time markers, or continuity between the scenes. We don't know what happened or how long certain time periods were. I wanted to know more about the characters and the town, but I felt like the story was flitting around.
It has a really good base, I really hope the rest of the series gets better.
"Dying For A Drive" is part of the Senoia Cozy Mystery series, by Susan Harper. Felicity studied to be an investigative journalist, but left school to open a party planning business in the lovely southern town of Senoia. At the same time she is opening her business there is an antique auto show being staged. Felicity gets the contract to do the party planning for the city of Senoia (the current party planner is retiring), but that is balanced by the fact that one of the individuals that has a car in the antique car show is found murdered. One of her close friends is arreted for the murder by her old high school boyfriend, who is now a detective on the police force. At times there is little love lost between the two.
In trying to clear her friend, Felicia and Jefferson, the young man that works for her, are run down - by the car that is owned by the man that was murdered! We are soon deep into people with false faces, drugs, and the ties between high school friends in a small town.
I loved the characters, and their interactions. The story moved forward nicely - to the point that at times one felt that one was watching a well done soap opera! Nice ending - partially expected, partially not so. A very nice cozy read.
I received a copy of the book through the publisher - Fairfield Publishing. Below is my honest review.
Dying For A Drive: A Senoia Cozy Mystery launches author Susan Harper's Senoia Mystery Series. It can be read as a stand alone book as all the loose ends are tied in a bow before you close the back cover. However, I believe most readers will want to continue reading the series after meeting Harper's characters - protaganist event planner Felicity Overton and her crime solving sidekicks (friends and foes) - Overton's longtime assistant Jefferson, best friend and Forensic Pathologist Autumn and former beau Officer Jack Huddleston.
The fast-paced book doesn't skimp on character development setting it apart from other cozy mysteries which rush to get the story out inadvertently leave little space on the pages to bring their characters to life.
The story took many twists with auto theft, drug trafficking, and blackmailing. I did not see this happening until I was upon the wordings that described these activities…there is a murder and Felicity and her assistant put themselves in harm’s way in trying to solve the who-done-it. They were nearly run over and it was because her assistant pushed her out of the way of the oncoming car he ended up being thrown over the car… ended with broken ribs, bruised up, and laid up in the hospital for a day…this made her want to solve the case all the more and our heroine does.
Dying for a Drive is a fun and entertaining book. This book feels like the author has been writing for years, this is a great first book and the series can only get better with each new one. The characters are well written and very entertaining. Loved Felicity and Jefferson as they endeavor to survive disasters in their business of planning events. Looking forward to reading more books in the series. I received an advance reader copy in return for an honest review and opinion
Felicity just opened up her party-planning shop. The first day brings in a slew of events, including the town’s annual car show. One of the car owner’s is found dead in the elevator. Strangled by a car belt? There was a killer loose in town and Felicity would use her journalistic skills to find out who it was. She gets more determined than ever when an old friend gets accused of the murder.
Dying for a drive (Senoia Cozy Myster #1) by Susan Harper This book was a fast paced read. The setting takes place in Georgia. Felicity Overton owns an event planner business. She is currently being trained by the City of Senoia to coordinate the town’s events in addition to her own business. Felicity stumbles upon a murder. She solves the case pretty much before the town’s police department does. Looking forward to reading more books by this author.
When Event Planner, Felicity Overton, puts on her 1st event for the city of Senoia, she never expects a murder to happen. And when a good friend is arrested, she uses her college investigative journalist skills to help find the killer. Very well written, likable realistic characters, well thought out plot.
This was a fun, light-hearted cozy which when it comes down to it they all should be. It was fun to read but it didn't wow me or really push for me to read more in the series. I think I will look at other Susan Harper series to see if they grab me a bit more. I did like her over-all style so I think it may have just been the characters mixed with this particular story-line.
A well crafted Cozy Mystery book. The story and the characters are both interesting. I absolutely loved the fact that i could not guess the next step or the killer. If you like a good, clean murder mystery this is the book for you.
Dying for a Drive by Susan Harper is a Senoia Cozy Mystery it's part of a series but can be read on it's own. I like the characters. Over all I enjoyed reading this entertaining story very much. Thanks
Dying for a Drive is a Senoia Cozy Mystery. The character were perky and kept me going from the first page through to the last. The author did a wonderful job with the mystery. The ending wasn't predictable. I'm looking forward to reading the next set of boos in the series.
This book was fantastic. It combines a great cozy mystery with a little humor and is a hit. At least I liked it and want to read more with this cast of crazies.
Senoia a quiet town, having a car show today. Interrupted by a woman’s screen and an open door of elevate showing a body. He and son had driven up from Florida to sell his car. They had a buyer, but the guy now hesitating. Nice cozy mystery with some quirky characters
Enjoyable cozy mystery. I thought a event planner having a "store front" business on Main Street which gets lots of tourists a stretch to belive, but all the characters were developed well.
