One of the things I love so much about the Laura Greenwood books, is that they're always quick and easy reads and that without a doubt they will eventually make me smile. So, this morning I didn't have too much time to read, but since I hadn't read yesterday either I really wanted to read something and this story was in every possible way the perfect fit for what I needed and for what I wanted.
Once more I closed the book with a huge smile on my face. Of course, just like the other soulmate stories in this series, the plot is quite predictable, but that doesn't bother me too much. On the contrary actually, it's kind of the reason why I keep on picking these books up. I know what I can expect, which also means that I know perfectly well when I'm in the mood for these kind of stories.
I do love the concept of this series though! The mating bond in this series is so much and therefore so awesome. Everything works when those people find their fit. Their familiars fit well together, their powers work well together and their personalities work well together. In this case it was also kind of a second chance romance, but the explanation why the characters didn't know they were soulmates the first time was actually very well done.
On top of that I really liked the characters in this book. Both of them were quite cute and in a way also innocent. They were childhood crushes and had a forced break up when one of them moved, but they've always kept each other in mind and are now ready to remind themselves why they were so awesome together. Watching them reconnect was really a pleasure, especially because both characters were easy to like and to root for.
As a lover of all paranormal reads this is my first ever book of Laura Greenwood's that I have read. It's is a prequel to the paranormal council series so I guess you can get more out of the coming books but I expected more of the story to be brought to life than what was delivered.
The characters are likeable and are both learning about their powers of being witches but as the story went on I was expecting more action and excitement to have been executed in the pages.
For me I thought the story ended too quickly. This might be seen as the series progresses but for the first book introducing us to the characters, the story felt rushed and therefore lacked the depth for me. Towards the end it does get juicy and suspenseful and then it ends which is where I felt disappointed.
But in saying all that, Spellbound will intrigue any paranormal reader as the storyline is interesting and who doesn't love witches brewing up concoctions to help themselves in a love story.
After going separate ways as teens Eliza and Ethan run into each other while working the same job. We get to see them reconnect while going through all the fears of what they felt before and what will come along with building onto their relationship. This story had good character building and was a great change form the 3 previous stories to this one. I look forward to seeing more of the Eliza and Ethan story unfold hopefully in future books. Previously published as "Spellbound" I received a free copy of this book through BookSprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was a short read and I liked the introduction to some key characters. Ethan and Eliza meeting and remembering old times was expected. Now Todd, Eliza's ex, was not. I knew he was gonna be a problem. I laughed when Geema tried to blame Derrick for terrorising the cat. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

This was an enjoyable quick read. Ethan Sanders and Eliza Davidson dated as teenagers. Eliza's parents moved when she was seventeen and she had to break up with Ethan. Ethan and Eliza are both witches. Ethan had powers since he was a toddler but Eliza did not get her powers until she turned eighteen. They did not know that each other were witches until they met again six years later. Through the years they both thought of each other. They figured they were not meant to be together because they were not both witches. When they meet again they have instant static chemistry. This is a sweet second chance at love. Their interactions are intense and you can feel their chemistry. Their familiars are attracted to each too which is a fun addition to the story. There is action at the end which brings more characters from the paranormal world into their story. Hopefully these two can accept each other now and get their happily ever after. This is a definite read and a great world that Laura Greenwood has built. This is the first book I have read in the Paranormal Council series. I plan on reading the other books in the series to learn more about this world and characters. I received a free copy of this book from Booksprout and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
Eliza and Ethan were childhood friends and high school sweet hearts. Just before Eliza turned 18, and came into her magic, she had to break up with Ethan, her family moving. 6 year later. Eliza still hasn't gotten over Ethan and is beginning to think she never will. Ethan, was broken hearted when Eliza broken up with him. He knew it was for the best. He is a witch and she wasn't. He just can't get over her. Eliza and Ethan are thrown together again when Ethan is hired to do the graphic designs for the company she is doing marketing for. Eliza wants a second chance, Ethan is not so sure. When they find they are now neighbors, fate seems to have other ideas. Their familiars are acting strangely. Ethan's best friend Luke isn't happy about Eliza being back in his live. Todd the man who Eliza dated a few times is not taking her ending things well. When Todd attacks her. Ethan comes to the rescue. Todd is not a ordinary human. Fast pace and steamy novella length, second change romance with a nice epilogue. Can be found in the Stories from the Paranormal Council 2 collection.
I have read a large number of this author's works, and I typically like them because she has a snappy writing style, slightly off-the-norm plotlines, and characters you can relate to even though they are typically paranormals. This book, however, didn't quite do it for me as much as they usually do. This is a novella, and I was turned off right away by what I consider to be the cardinal sin of novellas: the dreaded information dump. This happened on both the hero’s and heroine’s sides when each had their first chapter. I strongly dislike this writing flaw, particularly when it employs exceptionally long paragraphs that could have been broken up for clarity and to give the eye a break. Once the book got past the info-dump stage, things improved and were more like the author's typical style. I like second-chance-at-romance stories, and I did end up enjoying this one after I got past the first part. Love the familiars, too!
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
Ethan and Eliza were a couple, and they were each other's first time. But, after doing so, she went away with her family. It was better that way. She is a witch, and he is a normal human, so they could not have been together. Even so, she still misses him terribly, and compares all the men she meets with Ethan. Something similar happens to him. He is a witch who believes that she isn't. He compares her to all women. And he should hate her, but he is incapable of doing it, even though she broke his heart. He is glad to see her again, both of them, although neither of them expected it.
I loved them. But I didn't like that neither was sincere with the other from the beginning, even though they loved each other.
I loved that their familiars look alike.
I loved their children. Although (crazy naming mode) I would have liked more if the boy also had a 5 letter name, like his sister and parents. And if it ended in N, like Ethan, it would be perfect.
I received an ARC from the author, and this is my honest review.
Eliza and Ethan have a history together that stretches back to childhood and which includes a romance when they were in their teens but Eliza left breaking both her and Ethan's hearts but she had good reason to do so even if it doesn't ease the pain she feels at losing him. For his part Ethan is devastated and so when they meet again he isn't going to make it easy for her despite the fact that he has never gotten over her. But when the two discover the secret that the other was hiding all those years ago it makes the reason Eliza left so much worse. But fate has a way of bringing together those who are destined and their case is no exception. I really enjoyed the storyline, it was sweet and entertaining and the characters were simply lovely.

Fast and steamy short second chance romance with beautiful characters. It tells the story of Eliza and Ethan, who were childhood friends and later high school sweethearts. Just before her 18th birthday, Eliza and Ethan were separated by their parents and Eliza had to move. Now 6 years later they meet again because of their job. The sparks immediately come off. They grow closer, but what they don't know about each other is that they are both witches. It is an enchanting romance, described full of comical and laughable moments. Delicious. Reminds me of my own teenage crush sometimes. Read it, you will enjoy it guaranteed. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I really enjoyed this story. I knew from the very beginning that Ethan would be the man who Eliza would wind up being with. I felt this was a nice second chance story between two characters who fell in love with each other long ago and did not know they were both witches at the time. It was exciting and kept me glued to the pages until the story was over. The reason I gave this story four stars instead of five is because I wished that we could learn more about Ethan and Eliza's relationship after they had been together for a little bit. Overall I thought this was a sweet and little bit steamy paranormal story.

“Somehow, she’d got through her string of boring men without losing her romantic streak,”
Eliza broke up with her high school sweetheart rather than try for a long distance relationship when she moved away. It was the right thing to do, what with him being a human…
Ethan has never forgotten Eliza. She may have been right, a long distance relationship, when they were just teens, might not have been the right choice… but that doesn’t mean he wouldn’t like a second chance.
This done in one story dovetails with Eden and Tony’s, as well as Luke and Dana’s.
It is a story of innocent love growing up. a second chance romance in all the best ways, perhaps because these characters never fell out of love, but had an epic miscommunication.
Eliza and Ethan had been childhood sweethearts who were forced to leave each other behind when her family moved away. Heartbroken, Eliza felt it was probably for the best since she was a witch and there was no future possible for them. With Ethan being human, she knows that they would not have been allowed to marry. But neither one of them ever found a love like this one that they had to give up.
Five years later, they are brought together again as young adults when their companies begin to work together. Ethan, now revealed as a warlock, has nothing stopping him from pursuing a relationship with Eliza. Will they take this second chance Fate offers them to find their HEA?
Eliza and Ethan were childhood sweethearts but were separated when Eliza's family moved away. Eliza, a witch, didn't think they could be together because she believed he was human. Humans and witches can not marry. Five years later they are back together and Eliza finds out Ethan is a Warlock. This is a second chance love story with a paranormal twist. The writing is well done, the characters are well developed and the ending is well done. The Familiar Wings is a great addition to the Paranormal Council and I look forward to reading more books in this series. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
Ethan and Eliza were together in school and so in love, but Eliza and her family moved away and they said goodbye. Five years later, Eliza is surprised to see Ethan at a company meeting, and the feelings are still strong for both of them. Getting locked out of her apartment sends her to her neighbor and surprise... it is Ethan again. Their romance skyrockets and their magic helps out some. Suspense when she is targeted and their familiars work with them when in need. The ending is perfect... that poor cat.

A-hah! Now I’m starting to fill in the blanks from the spaces between the first several books. We’d heard about the aftermath in The Vampire's Bite and The Witch's Stripes, but now we finally get to witness the event that was so instrumental in bringing Eliza and Ethan back together. I’m a sucker for a second chance, so I was invested in this pair almost before the story even began. And now that I’ve discovered where to find more about the overall story arc, I’m a little desperate to dive into the next book. I received a complimentary copy of this book through Booksprout as part of the box set.
This witchy romance (also released as part of the Paranormal Council Universe Stories boxset) was a good read, though I'm very jealous of their familiars! It was also interesting to see the incident mentioned in The Vampire's Bite from the POV of those involved (though I'll say no more for fear of spoilers!). All in all, an excellent story for those fans of adult romances with a magical twist, and I'd highly recommend it. NB I received a complimentary copy of this book, but I always give an HONEST review based wholly on my own opinions
Second Chance Romance In ‘The Familiar’s Wings” Eliza and Ethan were childhood sweethearts who separate because Liza is a witch and she thinks that Ethan is human. Five years later they meet again as adults and find that not only is this their second chance at love, but Ethan is also a witch. This compelling tale is an interesting addition to the “Paranormal Council” series with a hopeful HEA. I recommend this installment in the series. I received a free copy of this book. A sweet but sensual paranormal love story. Loved it. Ethan and Eliza where best friends growing up and in high school they became more than friends. But Eliza’s family moves and she knows they don’t have a future because he isn’t a witch. And witches must be with witches. So six years later imagine her surprise when Ethan’s company is doing for her company. And she finds out he’s a warlock. This was such a sweet story even though there were sexy scenes. These two get their second chance at happily ever after, and their familiars were cute too.
I have very much enjoyed the earlier books in his series so was eager to read this one, it did not disappoint. In this book, we concentrate on Eliza and Ethan's story. They were childhood sweethearts but it didn't last because Liza believed that Ethan is human whilst she is a witch. When they meet again five years have passed but this time she learns the truth that Eithan is also a witch which means that they could have a chance at a future together. I just wish their story could have been a little longer.
Eliza and Ethan has been best friends until in high school they become more. Things were great until Eliza and her family had moved away when she was 17. She knew they couldn’t be together since she was a witch and had to marry one. He was upset they she has left him. Now a few years later she finds out at her work that Ethan was a warlock and was shocked! They had never talked about that. They run into each other and talk but will they get a second chance to be together again?

This was the first book I have read by this author and I realized it is prequel to a series I have not read but this book can be read alone. I did fine with it. If you're looking for a quick read with a HEA than I recommend this one. About a couple who were together very young but split for reasons they thought were right. They meet years later, connect, and realize they were meant to be together all along. No cliffhangers! I volunteered to review this book and received a free copy.
This is a great story. Sometimes you don't stop thinking about your first love for a reason. Sometimes where you work, who you meet, where you live are not just coincidences. This storyline is intriguing and captivating and the characters are colorful and detailed enough to add dimension. The romance, the emotions, and the spice get your heart and soul into it. Great read!

The way that Eliza and Ethan parted when they were younger really tugs at the heartstrings. I'm sure their families had their best interests in mind, but I just keep thinking of the lyrics to Natalie Cole's song "Too Young". They were "not too young at all" to know they belonged together. Nice to see that their magic finally agreed!

Ethan and Eliza were both heartbroken at 17 when her family left town, and she decided that a long distance relationship wasnt going to work. When they meey up again 6 years later, the sparks are still there - and secrets that had led to their break up are revealed. Will two little birds show the way to true love? What a cute story! Loved it!

This book has a sweet side to go with its heat. Eliza and Ethan build on their past together, which makes the story move along very quickly. Sparks fly, and I enjoyed every page of it. If you are a fan of paranormal romance with a sort of instant love story, this book will be just as enjoyable to you as it was to me!
