About the author

L.A. James graduated, Magna Cum Laude, from the University of Illinois with a B.A. in English. She has written for diverse businesses and non-profit organizations, published in various print media, and taught English to domestic and foreign students. In the end, she has looped back to what she has always wanted to do - write her own books.

~Life is too short to read a bad book. The only books I list on my bookshelf are books I enjoyed. No need to plow through ratings. I only put up 4 and 5 star books to share.

Five star books, to me, are worth buying and putting on your shelf. Four star books are well above average, and you should enjoy it.~

This brilliantly colorful collection of photographs aligned with meaningful scripture is both comforting and challenging. Meant for children but perfect for all ages, this book shares Biblical truths that not only remind us of God's expectations but reassures us that we are up to the task. The corresponding photographs create a connection between the reader and nature, with expressive animals reflecting the text with the turn of each page. The author has online tools to help readers engage with the text, which is not over at the end of the book, but meant to continue as readers either share the book with children or use it themselves as a reminder of these timeless truths. This is excellent as a gift as well as a present for oneself.

I was not expecting this at all--amazing photographic images, with simple words for each scriptural reading (passage), and there were three that spoke to my heart dearly. These three were WISE, ALERT (love big cats--lioness, I call my cat sometimes), and BRAVE. I need all three in my life right now...to be wise, courageous, and aware. I hope to get a copy someday soon for my future child, and me!

I was glad to give a honest review for the author. I enjoyed it in a brief reading.

Be: Biblical Wisdom For Children by L.A. James is a beautiful book that would sit proudly on any bookshelf. The book is designed to impart Godly wisdom into our children and grandchildren but I believe that we should all have a copy of this book in our lives.
Be reminds us all of God’s promises to us. Sometimes in our busy lives, we forget that God walks alongside us, helping us through life’s journey.
The book also reminds us to praise God in all circumstances because He is worthy of our praise.
The book is beautifully illustrated. Every double page has a wonderful picture of an animal with a title such as “be Thankful” and an associated scripture and where we find the scripture in the Bible. The pictures and words are starting points for discussion with our children. Even very young children can enjoy the pictures. The simple verses mean they are easy to learn and remember. Children will be able to look at a picture and remember the Godly words.
I absolutely adore L.A. James books. They are always beautifully illustrated, making me want to leap inside the pictures. The Godly advice is a gift for us all to remember. I believe that all ages will enjoy L.A. James books. We can read to young children and older ones can read it for themselves.
My granddaughters ages 7 and 10 absolutely love L.A. James books. They can be found not only reading them but staring at the pictures as we all try to choose our favourite… an impossible task.
Invest in your children’s future today and grab yourself a copy of Be.

I have to say, the photographs are beautiful and I really like the verses on each page. The book reminds me of what my mom does--takes photos of nature and/or people or places surrounded by nature and includes Bible verses. L.A. James does an impressive job with the photographs, and the colors and animals simply add to the appeal.
It is a book which would capture a child's interest, especially with the animals, and make it fun for them to learn their Bible verses. A pleasurable book to read aloud or have a child read themselves!

I am a reader in Christians Books Only Review Group and was given a sample to read by the author for my honest review.

It was a beautiful, and wonderful book for children. Great for parents to read to their children and show them the pictures as they read it to them. Pictures are beautiful! The scriptures are full of the wisdom the author wanted to instill in the book so they could be handed down to their children. This is one of those books you’ll want to keep and hand down as a keepsake.

Absolutely breathtaking illustrations that enhance a corresponding bible verse presented in a simple but yet inspiring text. Be: Biblical Wisdom for Children by L.A. James captures each scripture with amazing art that will make you feel the connection with God's holy words.

It will capture the imagination of children and hopefully open dialogue with an adult about the wonders of God. This is not only a book for children, but adults will appreciate the peacefulness that seems to deepen as you read on.

I fell in love with Be Discerning (Mathew 10:16) and the corresponding art, but by the time I reached Be Renewed (Psalm 103) my heart opened with joy!

This is an amazing, unique book that can bring about conversations or just relax and enjoy God's beauty.

Great way for parents and children to talk about the bible and how it applies in their life. The book is not a bible story but a guide to living your life in accordance with God’s plan.

The photographs will captivate children of all ages and the tools that are offered are useful guides for parents.

L.A. James uses the beauty and wonder of creation to honour our Creator and His Word, and to imprint that Word on the minds of children. The shimmering backdrops and realistic illustrations, rendered in the artist’s own style, make a most effective setting for Bible truths. The author/artist’s wish—that the book not be read once and then put on the shelf—will surely be granted as adults and children savor the beauty and truths presented in these pages time and time again. The free painting sheets, coloring sheets, and verse cards provide opportunities for hands-on participation, a critical component for learning and retention.

“Be” by L.A. James is a perfect book for an adult and child to read together. The thirty one pages are filled with beautiful animal photo images and matched with Bible verses or words. A few examples are “Be Wise”, “Be Kind”, “Be Brave” and “Be Thankful. The child will enjoy the pictures and the words give the adult a good platform for discussing how we all should be our best selves.
In the back of the book there is a link to a web site available to the reader with tools that you can use to discuss the contents of this delightful book.
I would highly recommend this book to everyone with small children as it will stimulate conversations and help children learn life lessons. This is one book that you will read over and over again for the pictures and the words.

Among the fondest memories of my life are those of being read to as a child. Reading to my own children when they were young was a nightly ritual that I’m not sure who enjoyed more, the little ones or myself. I found, both as a child and a parent, that as important as the conversations that took place about the stories were, the enjoyment of the illustrations always enriched the understanding and were an integral part of the experience. L.A. James’s “Be: Biblical Wisdom For Children” hits the mark on both accounts. Truly beautiful artwork that enhances the important messages from the Bible so well, truly making the words come alive.

LA James' "Biblical Wisdom for Children" is a wonderful, beautifully-illustrated children's book, but a book that I think any person of any age will appreciate. This will be a wonderful book to have on one's coffee table or give as a gift. It will surely facilitate discussion and, due to the incredible artwork, be remembered for years to come! This will be an excellent book to read to children--and to reinforce life for the little ones with Scriptural truth.

With its timeless wisdom from the Bible and beautiful illustrations to inspire children and adults alike, the book is a wonderful read, a reminder of how connected, precious and sacred all life is. Such a lovely and timeless book for little children. The illustrations are captivating and sure to interest little viewers over and over which is what you want. Scriptures with a mental image to go with them help to cement those words in their little brains and give them lifelong encouragement and wisdom.

BE is a brilliantly illustrated work of art that touched my heart. It is a true reminder of what it means to be Christian and a boundless tool to teach children.
