Geronimo Stilton

The Dragon of Fortune: An Epic Kingdom of Fantasy Adventure (Geronimo Stilton and the Kingdom of Fantasy: Special Edition #2)

Rate this book
I, Geronimo Stilton, traveled on the wings of the Dragon of Fortune back to the Kingdom of Fantasy! I was called there by my friend Blossom, Queen of the Fairies, who needed my help.

The enchanted Winged Ring had gone missing! This was terrible news. The ring allows its owner to travel between the Kingdom of Fantasy and the real world-which would be a dangerous power if it fell into evil hands. Could I find the ring before it was too late?

The book was amazing in many ways. If you read the other books this story would make more sense because it is kinda linked with the other books. I love reading this book because it had beautiful illustrations and it was very interesting to read. First, the author describes the setting of the story. It made me imagine the exciting plot. Also, the characters of the story was wonderful. Each had its own personalities. Finally, the moral I learned from this story was, never give up. Even if everybody says you can't do it, but you think you can, go for it.
*spoiler alert*
The main part of the story was when Geronimo and his new friends decides to sneak into the witch's tower. But then they get caught by the witch's cat. All the witches send them to a cell. A while later, they still haven't come up with a plan to get out, the cat reappears saying that if they give his white hair back, he will help them get out. Luckily, Geronimo's team was smart enough to say that he has to lead them out first. Otherwise, they could've been tricked again!
Of course, this book had a happy ending. Geronimo finds what's was stolen and returns it. During their adventure, Geronimo learns lessons and so do I.

This book truly is epic—both in size (560+ pages!) and in scope. Many of the pages feature more pictures than text, so the book isn’t as long as the pages may indicate. It is a beautiful book too—plenty of gold, dark blues, pinks, and glided pages; it is also heavy, which adds to its splendor. The book pays subtle homage to many fantasy novels before it, including Lord of the Rings, Narnia, even Harry Potter. There are many characters, perhaps too many as I didn’t feel any of them (including the protagonist) were well rounded enough even for a kid’s book. Also, the plot, while epic in its scope, moved much too fast. But again—kid’s book, so I won’t say it was a detriment so much. Except the ending, which didn’t really work in my opinion. However, it did hold my 7yo’s interest throughout—especially the pages that featured puzzles for the reader to solve and Fantasian messages to decode using a hieroglyphics-type alphabet. I didn’t realize how many Geronimo Stilton books and spin-offs there are (over 200 entries since 1997, according to Wikipedia). Not sure I am up for reading another one with my son, but we’ll see if he goes for another one next time we’re at the library.

Fantastic writing. But the books of Geronimo Stilton are not for beginners as there are many words that do not have proper spellings. For example, fabulous is changed to fabumouse. This will cause confusion to beginners. So I strongly advice the beginners to not to read these books till your vocabulary is neatly improved.

A great trip down nostalgia lane! I used to ADORE this series. I’ve never read this one before, so it was great fun!

(Obviously, this is meant for a much younger target audience, but this book series is SO FUN.)

Well, Geronimo lost his winged ring so hope is all lost especially for queen Blossom. But that's not true! Geronimo takes the risk for the adventure to find the queen's second greatest desire, ( the queen's greatest desire is the heart of happiness) the winged ring.

When I read this book I was captivated bye the story! I loved it soooo much! And when you read it you can’t stop! I didn’t sleep the whole night until I finished it and I was so sad after the last page had that word:"the end".

I noticed two errors on pgs. 573 and 574. On page 573 the answer for page 146-147 is incorrect. There are not 7 squirrels, there are 8 squirrels. 3 on page 146, and 5 on page 147. They forgot the squirrel at the top right corner of page 147. The error on page 574 is regarding page 190-191. It labels the answer as 4 faces. However, there are 5 faces. 2 on the top page, and 3 on the bottom page. The face that they forgot to count is the face on the bottom right of the bottom page.

One of my friends got me a “The Ultimate Reading Challenge” book that has 25 reading prompt. One of the prompts is “Re-read a favorite childhood book”. I took the weekend as an opportunity to get this one out of the way. I was thoroughly excited to read a Geronimo Stilton book, although I admit that I should been more diligent in picking which book; not based off of the cover.

I learned that this book is narrated/authored by Geronimo himself. It is apart of the Kingdom of Fantasy series and written when I was already out of high school, so this isn’t exactly like the books that I read when I was in elementary. However, I was pleasantly surprised to know that 90% of the book is still the same. The writing, the fonts, the different paragraph structures and the beautiful illustrations. Even the puzzles and riddles that have answer keys at the end of the book. This made the nostalgia come right back and made it an enjoyable read. Sadly, I must say that the storyline wasn’t exactly what I remember it to be. I attribute that to when it was written and the series.

I am impressed that the story touched on really good lessons and sayings. But it still had things that I wasn’t a big fan of and the pacing wasn’t that great. I loved the characters and the world building. Although I don’t remember Geronimo Stilton books being this long (566 pages) it was still a treat to read and enjoy a childhood favorite. Quick read to start off the year and check off an item on the reading challenge.

This is the second in the Geronimo Stilton epic fantasy series, and the first that I read with my middle son. We have had a soft spot in our hearts for the Geronimo Stilton series since we started reading them about ten years ago with my oldest, and now that my middle one is at the age where he can pick them up, it is absolutely insane what Scholastic has put out since then. We grabbed The Dragon Of Fortune from the library book sale for fifty cents – and it is a gorgeous hard bound edition with gold leaf on the pages, and boy is it a gorgeous and well-made book.

Geronimo is dubbed the foolish one after losing an incredibly important ring that has a huge impact on the entirety of the Kingdom of Fantasy. He has to find the ring, and accomplish many side missions in order to set himself up for the best chance of success. This being the second book, the authors and illustrators did a great job in catching us up with the various kingdoms and characters we need to be aware of as the story progresses – and while I could see that being a slog for some young readers, my kid was absolutely enthralled with the maps and character pages.

Every night we read it, he was enthusiastic and told me he was literally dying to crack it open at bedtime. We had such a great time with this book, and we eagerly hit the public library to get the first (and next two) books in the series.

Geronimo Stilton and the Dragon of Fortune
(Lower Level J-Fic)

Summary:
Geronimo Stilton, publisher of the most famous newspaper on Mouse Island, The Rodent’s Gazette, finds himself traveling to the Kingdom of Fantasy once again. On his previous trip there, he was named a Prince by the residents. This time, he’s in big trouble after having lost an enchanted ring given to him by Blossom, the Queen of the Fairies. They began calling him the Foolish One and sent him on a quest to find the ring before it could be used by an evil-doer to travel from the Kingdom of Fantasy into the real world.
Geronimo is aided by wizards, owls, fairies, witches, and of course, the Dragon of Fortune. After having quite the adventurous journey, he manages to find the ring and save the day.

Why I chose this book:
My daughter loves the Geronimo Stilton series. I think they are super cool because they have so many illustrations, including some of the text itself being in colorful, drawn fonts. This particular one is a special edition, so it’s larger than the regular books of the series, and even has gold on the page edges. There are a lot of extras in it – descriptions of the characters’ histories, maps, and “seek and find” items. It’s an easy read for those in grades 3-5 but still a lot of fun for older kids.

This is one of my favorite books because this book Is full of a never-ending and fun adventure book. Even though it is 567 pages you should read it because it is about another world called the Kingdom of Fantasy. Geronimo lost a ring called the winged ring. They have to find it before another person becomes a king. It was hidden in a safe in a place called a dark castle. Where the most meanest witch lives. It is Geronimo and his friend's mission to find it. For that, he has to go to see Mel the Magnificent. He will pick up 2 of his friends, go to the Dark Castle, dress up as something, and get it. So this is a long adventure book. But if you want to read these books I would definitely tell you to read this book.

My favorite character was Geronimo Stilton because he traveled to different kingdoms. His goal was to find the Dragon of Fortune so he could go back in time to find the magic “something”. I am saying that because I do not want to spoil the book. I was surprised when Geronimo Stilton found that “something” because it was almost impossible to find. It was guarded by a giant owl. So if you think Geronimo Stilton is stealing from the owl, actually the owl stool from him. I would change the ending because it did not tell you some of the details. If you like fantasy, I would recommend the book. If you do not like fantasy, I would not recommend the book.

I read this book 3 times in 2 days; now imagine how interesting this book is. This book is recommended for kids aged between 5-12, but it can be enjoyed by everyone and anyone. Even there are many puzzles which makes it even more special. The learning from this book is that you should have the courage to take back what belongs to you. My favourite character was Wolfy, but I also liked Owlivia, Beartina and Roxy Foxy. I loved the part where Wolfy and Wither had a MAGIC DUEL. I hope you enjoy reading this book.

The story is amazing! This is not my first book of Geronimo or Thea Stilton. I have read many of them. The magical part is the golden pages. I always look at it even if I am reading another book. In the book there is a mouse named Geronimo Stilton(the author) going to an adventurous place called kingdom of fantasy. He needs to save queen blossom. He goes on a fantastic and scary adventure with his kingdom of fantasy friends.
This book is for all ages (especially children). Hope you like the story!

WOW! This is probably the best book in Geronimo Stilton History.

Geronimo loses the winged ring which allows anyone to travel back and forth from the the Kingdom of Fantasy to the real world. It was given by Queen Blossom during the tenth adventure. Crowbar the Cruel has stolen it.
Geronimo is now known as the Foolish one. Can he reclaim the Winged Ring within a moon and get his reputation back?

The Dragon of Fortune by Geronimo Stilton is about Geronimo (A book author) who is has fallen asleep and has a dream about going to the "Kingdom of Fantasy".Geronimo was called to the Kingdom of Fantasy because the queen (Blossom) is in need of Geronimo to retrieve the missing "Winged Ring" which led anybody to travel from the kingdom to the real world, and if the missing ring had gotten into the wrong hands of Wither the evil dark fairy, she could destroy the whole kingdom.

What I think about "Geronimo Stilton and the Kingdom of Fantasy" is, it is very trek-like and mythical. I think others who like fiction should read because it fits in the genre, fantasy very well.

This was almost 2 stars. This was my first entry into Geronimo Stilton but I enjoyed the Thea Stilton book more.
The colourful pictures and font are a bonus. The puzzles and rune translations became annoying.
The plot itself was tedious and winding, often seeming to go nowhere. The characters were repetitive calling Geronimo “The Foolish One”.
If kids like the series then great, but it’s not my cup of tea.

I started reading this with my son and he got bored about 40 pages in but I kept reading myself. It was a cute story and nicely illustrated with activities for kids to complete throughout the book. I think it was just a little too long for his attention span but it looks like a really cute series.
