Dani Moore has been burned.

Still recovering emotionally from a recent assault, Dani spends her days blogging and riding around with her brother, a homicide detective. She's going through the motions with no real hope of ever getting back to "normal life." But when she meets Scott Walker, the city's new arson investigator, the heat between them is undeniable.

Scott's the nicest guy she's ever met. And it doesn't hurt that he's so attractive she can barely breathe.

Finally out of school and working his first big arson and murder investigation, Scott hasn't had time to get involved with anyone. But when he meets Dani he's convinced that gorgeous girl who lights a fire in his heart will be his.

He's unable to resist her, even though she runs hot and cold.
He refuses to give up on her, even though his new partner is Dani's brother.

Dani may be able to put the past behind her and allow Scott to teach her how to trust again, but will the case go cold while their love ignites?

3.5 "I got to see Seth Lane again" stars!!

The story starts of with us immediately being thrust into a crime scene, which I really enjoyed. There's a fire with an obvious murder victim and Scott, an arson investigator, and Clayton, a homicide detective, are called to the scene. These two have to work together to solve the crime because one scene turns into two and they've got to stop a serial killer before more bodies pile up. This made for an interesting plot because I'm such a sucker for a mystery/suspense/thriller.

However, there was a romantic theme throughout the story as well, which involved Scott and Clayton's sister, Dani. Having recently dealt with a trauma that had left her scared of her own shadow, Dani wasn't prepared for her immediate attraction to Scott. Luckily Scott was just as drawn to her and with the help of her brother, he helped her feel safe and comfortable in his company. Their relationship strangely blossomed in the midst of the murder investigation.

The reasons I didn't' rate this book higher were:
❧ the lack of details re: Dani's assault. It was mentioned and there was obviously a fallout, but the details were limited. The fact that it was brought up in the first place, I thought it would hold more of an impact.
❧ the writing wasn't completely fluid. There were POV changes within the same paragraph which made it a bit difficult to keep up with.

In the end, these issues were pretty minor and only slightly detracted from my overall enjoyment of this book. If you're looking for a fairly light and suspenseful read, give HOT AND COLD a read.

Release Date: January 31, 2017
Genre: Contemporary with suspense/mystery/thriller elements
POV: Multiple - 3rd person
Steam: 2 out of 5

I LOVED this book!
It's got crime, mystery, drama, and ohh yeah SEX!!
Scott is a fire investigator who loves his job. He is good looking and read to meet someone special now that his life has slowed down a bit.
Dani is a bit broken right now and just going through the motions of her life. She is a curvy, sexy read head who loves to read smut. There was an immediate connection when her eyes locked with Scott's that first time.
They compliment each other very well and it's like they have known each other for years.
This book will also have you trying to solve the case of "who done it".
Make sure you pick this book...its more then just a sexy read.

Autry's review:

Dani is a described as running hot and cold emotionally after recovering from a recent attack. Fun, enjoyable, slightly guarded girl next door is whom I see. Scott is just the man she needs to help pull her out of her guarded lifestyle. The chemistry between the two in magnetic, from the first visual you can feel the heat building. Add in the fact Scott is partnering up detective Moore, Dani's brother, to help solve a homicide. A suspenseful feeling is carried throughout the novel, keeping the reader on their toes. I enjoyed the characters and their witty banter; each one could be your next-door neighbor. The depth of the novel is neither deep nor dark, details were included but made light. The light feel made the pages turn and keeps the gruesome at bay, all together a good read that kept my attention and made my mind wonder what else could happen!

What can I say about this book, the collaboration from these two authors brought characters from both their series together, Fire (Amy Briggs) and Police (Mikey Lee), to solve a crazy crime going on! Throw in Scott the new arson investigator and Dani, Det. Clayton Moore's sister, who meet and have an instant attraction together and you have a love story on top of it, oh and hot sex! But this book is more, they have you hanging on a thread to try to figure out who is committing the crimes!

This story was great, I couldn't put the book down! Don't miss out on this awesome book!

Firefighters AND cops? Amy Briggs AND Mikey Lee? This is kind of a no brainer to pick up. Who can say no to firefighters, cops, Amy Briggs, AND Mikey Lee? Really? No one.

Hot and Cold follows Scott Walker, fire investigator and former member of District 23 firehouse, and Dani Moore, sister to Detective Clayton Moore. Dani and Scott meet when Dani accompanies Clayton to work while he's working on a arson/murder investigation with.

Dani has been through the ringer. She hasn't always been the scared girl that follows her cop brother to work. Recently attacked, Dani is still adjusting and getting her life back. She hadn't planned on Scott Walker being part of that equation.

When the fires and the murders start getting closer to Dani, can Scott and Clayton find their man and put a stop to it before anyone else gets hurt? Can Scott prove to Dani that not all men are like her attacker? Can Dani take control of her life and give her heart away?

Great collaboration you guys!! This book was awesome!!

I have never read anything by either of these authors, so I was diving in blind. I was pleasantly surprised.
Right off the bat we are hit with an active crime scene, firefighters and police working side by side. I was hooked seeing a bit of the ins and outs of an investigation. As the story unfolds it turns into a mystery with more crimes. Now I can't put it down! Oh but wait the whole time we have a sexy new romance blooming. This book had it all!
The characters were very relatable. I loved the relationship between Dani and her brother. I am very curious to know more about her back story.  Scott was so sweet and patient with her but when the time was right it got HOT!
I have now come to find out that this is a combo "spinoff" of each authors series. I really enjoyed this book, so now I am off to read a series about a detective I met and want to know more (by Mikey Lee) and then a fire station series (by Amy Briggs) because well firefighters....

This is my first read by Mikey Lee and Amy Briggs. From the beginning you are immediately thrust into the story and hooked. Mikey and Amy bring you crime, a bit of drama, mystery and last but not least some sexiness.

Scott is a fire investigator and loves his job. Not only that but hes good looking and after focusing on school and his career hes ready to find someone and slow his life down.

Dani is a little broken after what recently happened to her. But shes working on getting through the fears it has brought onto her. One day at a time and with Scott she doesn't feel that fear.

Not only does Mikey and Amy give you a book of romance and finding your special person but you are thrust into his current case and trying to figure out who did it and what the motive was all through the book.

Cant wait to read more from these authors.

I loved starting this book at a crime scene. The first meeting between arson investigator, detective and Dani.
Yes, those amazing first responders, fireman and police, together in one book!!
Scott recently finished school and this is his first arson investigation, he'll be working with Clayton, homicide detective and bother of Dani.
Dani is recovering from a violent attack. She's afraid to be alone and has been staying with her brother since it happened.
She doesn't trust easily but is drawn to Scott when she meets him.
Thankfully her brother doesn't warn him away and actually encourages her giving Scott a chance, getting to know him.
She's surprisingly comfortable with him from the beginning but isn't sure she can give him what he deserves.
While she tries to regain control of her life, Scott & Clayton are are trying to stop a murderer who uses some pretty out there equipment to kill. This part had me more excited than Scott & Dani's budding relationship, well almost. I mean Scott is a sweet, sexy, patient, loving fireman, it's kinda hard to outdo that.

Hot and Cold has it all; suspense, drama, lust, fear, strength and a HEA.

Hot and Cold is my first read by either of these authors. It's a cute romance with the added suspense of the case.

Arson Investigator Scott Walker hasn't had time for anything but school and work. As a newbie to investigations, he's finally getting his footing. He never expected to meet the woman of his dreams at a crime scene. Well, meet is a strong word- more like glimpse.

Dani has had it rough. Her recovery is taking longer than her brother likes but her safety is more important. She isn't ready to date again, or is she? One look at the guy helping her brother on a case and she changes her mind. Scott is good looking and sweet.

The relationship is heating up but the case appears to be going stale. Setbacks happen. Will Dani and Scott catch what they are looking for or will it all go up in smoke?

Sweet funny and an interesting twist

This was a fun read! I enjoyed meeting new characters snickering with some of my favorites from the firehouse. The story was interesting and well written.

I didn't know who the killer was at first, but as soon as the interview occurred I thought I knew who it was which kind of bummed me out since I like to be kept guessing until the end. The romance was sweet, but my favorite conversations were actually between the brother and Scott because of the care and love it showed between siblings and professional support to those who serve our communities.

I enjoyed this read and would love to see a story about Clayton!!

An exciting combination of Fire fighters and Detectives in this combination of characters from Amy Briggs's Brotherhood of District 23 Series and Mikey Lee's Sin Series (Envy books). A who done it with arson fires, dead bodys, along with sexy scenes. Dani Moore...sister of douche bag Detective Clayton Moore...meets Firefighter/Arson Investigator...sparks fly and things get hot.

When I first received this ARC, I was confused, because I had forgotten that I had signed up for it. Then, I noticed who it was by and thought to myself, "Well, crap!" I was previously familiar with the work of one of these authors (I refuse to say which one.), and the amateur grammarian in me had not been impressed by their work. But, I had pledged myself to reading this ARC, and that was exactly what I was going to do, as I like to be as good as my word.

After I read the first couple of chapters, I found myself thinking, "WOW! I am ever so glad, that I had signed on to read this!" The characters were interesting, complex and diverse. The story line was well thought out and moved at a quick pace. The interaction among the characters was lively, sarcastic, amusing and, at times, suitably-intense. The naughty bits were smokin' hot. The arson case was plotted extremely well, and the identity of the arsonist was a nice twist.

In most places, this book did not read like it was being written by two different people. For the most part, the transitions were so seamless, that you never knew there had been a switch in the writing process. There were a few places where author change was evident. But, predominantly, the prose flowed smoothly and concisely. It was a very nice melding of words and ideas.

I would definitely be interested in reading another book about the characters, especially if there was a duality in authorship as in this story. I am all for another brilliant BrigLee mash-up!

Arson investigator Scott Walker is called to the scene of a murder/arson investigation where he is unofficially partnered with police detective Clayton Moore. They are immediately thrown into a case with no clear murder weapon or motive and must resort to their crime solving skills to stop the serial killer/arsonist from striking again.

Dani Moore, book blogger and recent survivor of a brutal assault, happens to be tagging along with big brother Clayton at the crime scene, because she is terrified to be alone. Scott is hooked from their first introduction and even though he wasn’t looking for a relationship, finds himself wanting to be in one with Dani.

While working over-time to solve the crime, Scott also begins to pursue a relationship with Dani, who for the first time since her assault, feels like she is “normal” again when hanging out with Scott. Can Dani feel safe enough to trust Scott and give him her heart and can Scott find a way to divide his time between solving a crime and being the man that Dani needs him to be?

Amy Briggs and Mikey Lee have done an amazing job of creating a thrill ride of good old fashioned crime solving and romance. I truly enjoyed the banter between Scott and Clayton. Clayton is a fabulous older brother to Dani and mentor to new investigator Scott. I also loved reading about the investigative and forensics work they were doing . . . it was written in a realistic way, yet used terminology easy to understand and kept the flow of the plot moving forward in a smooth manner. Dani and Scott’s blossoming relationship is really heartwarming. Scott really is a nice guy and is willing to do anything he can to make Dani feel happy and safe with him and Dani, while still recovering, is unexpectedly full of sass and sarcasm and is a great counterpart to Scott in every way.

As a huge fan of crime and suspense with a romantic twist, Hot and Cold was a fun and satisfying read! 5 stars!

Dani Moore has been living a shadow of her old life after suffering a brutal attack. She's moved in with her brother, Detective Clayton Moore, temporarily and even accompanies him on his calls. In her job as a blogger, she can make her own schedule and work from anywhere so Clay's house, or car when they're on calls, is as good as any place else. Eventually, she'll go back to her place but right now, the security of being with him eases her mind. She's trying to move on from her attack but few people make her feel as safe as her brother, even if he is a giant pain in the ass.

Firefighter turned arson investigator, Scott Walker, usually works on his own but after being called to a case with some pretty unique signatures, he works alongside Detective Moore to see the case through. Plus side, he meets the detective's beautiful, and intriguing sister, Dani. He's never been a guy to get swept up but he's into her straight away... Even before Clayton basically throws her in his lap. Lol As more bodies and fires start stacking up, he and Dani start getting hotter too.

This book was a short but great read. The authors do a great job of weaving the heavy topics with good humor and charm and keeping the reader off-center with the unique details of the case. Former firefighter, Amy Briggs and former Marine, Mikey Lee team up in this book to puzzle our minds and open our hearts! Bringing together pieces of their former lives and weaving them into the story lends a feeling of authenticity to the story and their writing styles blend effortlessly. Great job!

This is a story about Dani who is a blogger and has recently had a traumatic attack happen to her which makes her afraid to be alone. With her brother being a Detective she goes on rides with him and has been staying with him due to her attack. Going to an arson and murder case she meets Scott.

Scott is an Arson Investigator and has just been in the position for a little while now. Finally done with school he finally has some time for himself and possibly find someone to settle down with. Being called to investigate this fire he sees a beauty sitting in the car of one of the detectives. He is instantly attracted to her.

They eventually are introduced to one another and have the worst first date. At least they both played a part in the catastrophe and they laugh it off like its nothing! I do have to say that Scott seems like one of the sweetest guys and Dani has this feisty side to her which just makes for a perfect match.

This is the first book that I have by either of these authors and I wasn't disappointed. There is mystery, suspense, and some steamy scenes. The murder in this book is absolutely crazy!!! I don't which author came up with the idea but it is brilliant! For one of the authors to think of a murder this way is actually kind of creepy and makes me wonder what other kinds of craziness they have in that mind of theirs!

If you like murder, mystery, suspense, feistiness, and some steamy scenes then this is the book for you!

I'm sorry to say that this was almost a DNF for me and I have never had a DNF…I always stick around to see what happens. In this case that is what I did. I had to see how the crime was solved, but that really was all that I needed. The overall plot and story were good, but some things were just too unbelievable for me and it didn’t even have to do with the crime. It was the connection between Dani and Scott. I didn’t feel it at all….it seemed too clinical and fast for my enjoyment. It was not a book that I got lost in and that is really what I look for in a good book. Maybe it was because it was my first read by these authors or the issues with flow between two writers that didn’t work for me. I didn’t know the back story of the characters and maybe that would have helped me enjoy it more. There were some really cute moments between the guys.

I volunteered to read an Advanced Readers Copy of this story. No payment was received in any form. These are just my thoughts on this story.

I loved this book! Then again I have loved all of Mikey Lees books and the books I have loved the two books by Amy Briggs that I have read prior to this one!

This collaboration is great. Firefighter and Police. Amy Briggs writes amazing fire fighters and Mikey Lee writs amazing Cops. If you have read either of theses authors you will see familiar characters. If not, you will want to go read both of these authors!

This book has everything in it, Crime, Mystery, Romance and sex. This book starts off intense with a fire. You will be pulled in from the get go, and want more when its over.

This book follows Fire investigator Scott. He loves his job and is ready to settle down now that his life isn't as crazy busy. Dani is a bit broken after being attacked. She loves to read smut and write reviews on her blog. She has been sticking close to her brother Clayton since the attack.

I loved this story and I hope Clayton gets his own book! I enjoyed the collaboration and recommend any romance reader to one click this book. If you love fire fighter once click it, if you love cops one click it, hell if you just love to read a good book once click it! You get my point!

This is a book full of crime, mystery and suspense. With a bit of romance added. It's the first time I've read anything by either Amy Briggs or Mikey Lee.

It definitely took me a bit to get in to this as I'm not a huge reader of 3rd person and I can never seem to get a connection with the characters as much, and this wasn't one of them ones that got easier throughout.
Having said that though The writing itself was great and I wouldn't have guessed that it was two different authors writing this together, they collaborated great.
The characters seem very relatable in this. And it's nice to see a brother that not only wants the bests for his little sister but is rooting for the guy involved.

Scott is a fire investigator and has to work with Clayton who is a police detective on a arson/murder case that we see straight from the beginning, there is a lot of research gone into the storyline and this shows. Through the investigation Scott meets Dani, Claytons sister who follows her brother everywhere since being attacked. (I have to admit I didn't really understand how that was allowed though as she is a civilian and goes to work with him?)
As the story goes on more crimes unfold, without being solved but can Scott and Dani work their way through it?
If you like a good mystery to solve with a romance aspect to it then this is a book for you.

Hot and Cold was a fun read by two Authors that I really enjoy reading. Amy Briggs and Mikey Lee have combined their themed books of firefighters and detectives to create a really exciting who done it! Scott and Dani are the main characters of the book along with Dani’s brother.

Scott is a new arson investigator. Recently graduating he has been called to his first fire as an Arson Investigator. It’s discovered that a body is also found on the premises … and on further investigation they find there is a gunshot wound to the body. At this point, Detective Clayton is called in to assist with the investigation.

Upon the arrival of Detective Clayton, we’ll find out that his sister, Dani, is on ride along with the him. Being the recent victim of a vicious attack she has been staying with her brother. The fear of being alone has caused her to be more dependent on her brother.

There is something that sparks between Scott and Dani when they first see each other at a crime scene. An attraction that is sweet and comfortable. These two have some pretty awesome chemistry and the sexy times are hot as hell!

Will there be a HEA for Scott and Dani?

Hot & Cold is an awesome read and I highly encourage everyone to pick it up!!

So I have to say I loved this book!!!

First off this is the first book I have read from Mikey Lee and let me tell you I was blown away!! This book had everything I could ask for!!

Excellent writing, fabulous plot this story has it all, humor, friendship, crime, suspense, love and sex all rolled into one nicely wrapped package. Plus the characters were amazing and well developed. I loved Scott who is an arson investigator, working hard with little time for relationships. Dani is amazing she is broken from a bad experience but with the right amount of Scott well she is one hell of a strong woman with a heart of gold. Add in Clayton and Jax plus your criminal and this book will grab you from the beginning to the end. I just could not put it down!!!

If you are looking for a suspenseful romance with a whole lot more this is the book for you!!! I loved every bit of it! I look forward to reading more from Mikey Lee.

So, here you have a love story with a suspense murder case. The story is from three points of view Clayton, Scott and Dani. A blogger, arson investigator, and a detective thrown together. A love connection at the right time but under bad circumstances. Mikey and Amy spun a well thought out story that combines love and mystery. Scott and Dani are the main characters of this one with Clayton being the protective brother of Dani. It'll make you laugh and wonder. Each character flows into the next with the alternating POV, this is where the talented authors really make sure you are following along. Mikey and Amy have done great as collaborators, they pull you in and keep you interested and that's good writing. This is a must read. I hope to see more from these two in the future cause they did great on this one.

I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book. Absolutely love this love story with a suspense murder to solve type of book. These are two new authors to me and i was blown away by this well written book. This story is from three different views Clayton,Scott and Dani.Which makes it even more interesting to be able to see it through three different sets of eyes and feelings.Dani is a blogger and recent survivor of a brutal assault who tags along with her brother to a crime scene that involved a fire. There she runs or is seen by Scott who is instantly hooked and wants to know more about her .While working many hours to solve this case Scott begins a relationship with Dani who for the first time actually feels normal again. But will she ever feel safe enough to give her heart to someone? This book was well written with amazing character chemistry. There is love, sex, friendship just a great thrill ride of emotion with a suspenseful dash of murder and crime solving.Absolutely loved this book from beginning to end

This review of Hot & Cold by Mikey Lee and Amy Briggs is for The Sweet Spot Sisterhood Blog. If you like Romantic Suspense, especially ones that have firefighters and cops, then this book is for you. I'm a fan of James Patterson's Women's Murder Club Series and this book kind of reminds me of those. I give it 4 Stars.

In this book we are introduced to Scott, a hot fire fighter, Clayton a Police Detective, and Dani, Clayton's sister. Dani has been staying with her brother ever since she was viciously attacked. Hot & Cold immediately starts with a fire that turns into an arson investigation that turns into a murder investigation as well. Dani rides along with her brother to the crime scene. This is where she catches the eye of Scott. Over the course of the investigation other murder/arson's occur. Scott and Clayton work together to find the murderer/arsonist. Dani and Scott grow close as well. She feels safe with him. Can Scott solve the mystery and find love while doing it? You will have to read to find out.

At the start of the story we're thrown into a murder/arson investigation where we meet the main players in the story Brian his sister Dani and Scott.
Brian and Scott become deeply involved in the investigation and thus means that Scott gets to spend time with Dani who he was immediately drawn to. It's a fast paced story that keeps you guessing wanting to find out more about the perpetrator however at times I wanted less description and more action.
For me a chunk of the story was missing and that was Dani's past which is integral to her relationship with her brother. At times I lost the thread of the story as the POV often changed multiple times in one sentence .
