The Cover is…mouth-watering, the definition of the first word in this collection’s title: luscious. The hourglass figure seems unequivocally female, as does the long hair that hangs down the back of the model and can be glimpsed against the light. And yet is still completely androgynous, because the backside of a human being can be deceptive. The grayscale of the photo makes a beautiful background to the red font of the title. Enchanting and evocative.
If you usually skip the foreword, don’t. Tristan Taormino’s is a work of art. So is the introduction by Alison Tyler. Reading this book makes me feel like I’m in good company. #wink
The Stories: Of all the wonderfully raunchy stories in this collection, the following should not be missed.
• “Butterflies and Myths” by Greg Wharton: This one is my absolute favorite of them all. In the space of twelve pages, the author manages to perform a complete transformation, a metamorphosis like that of the butterfly, in the reader’s perception of the characters. This is story includes one of the most erotic anal sex scenes I’ve ever read, with the added sweetness of taking place between an established couple. The “awww” and “ungh” factors are off the charts!
• “Edward’s Experiments” by Saskia Walker: Those who gaga over geeks will fall hopelessly in lust with Edward, the protagonist of this story. Ah, the joys of having a scientific mind in the body of a young and curious man, hell-bent on testing all kinds of delicious, kinky theories on his girlfriend and himself!
• “Something Dirty” by Erica Dumas: The perfect one-night stand, with the added sizzle of the words to unlock anyone’s dream: “anything you want.” Dirty? I say filthy good.
• “Roger’s Fault” by Eric Williams: What is the absolute best gift a boyfriend can bring home to his girl when he’s late? A dildo and a harness of course, so you can switch places! Is there a way to make it even better? Hell yes, bring a male friend and get ready to see stars. This story literally gave me goose bumps! Delicious!
• “Don’t Wait” by Felix D’Angelo: Fancy an unforgettable rim job? Then you cannot miss this story. Three pages of sizzling, deliciously taboo fun.
• “The Captain’s Walk” by Dominic Santi: This is one ghost who has plenty of earthly fun in the afterlife. I’d love to spend the night in that haunted house.
• “Anal Submission… Or Not” by D. L. King: This story is all about the eternal question – is anal sex a submissive act? Ms. King has anal sex down to an art, a woman after my own heart. This story is so hot the pages will burn your fingers. I suggest keeping a good supply of clean, dry underwear handy.
This anthology is a timely and welcome addition to my library. Recent conversations with online friends have proven, beyond the shadow of a doubt, that anal eroticism has become one of the most mainstream sexual kinks. An article in Glamour claims almost half of all sexually active women have had anal sex by the time they reach their forties. On the other hand, and contrary to popular belief, not all gay men like or have it. Their loss!
Those of us who enjoy it know that, between people who trust each other, when done knowledgeably, with time and care, it can bring about some of the most mind-blowing orgasms imaginable. The stories in this anthology help us remember how very good “dirty” can be. Enjoy!
