A professional photographer, writer and fan of general weirdness (both real and imagined), Tony has traveled tens of thousands of miles seeking out everything from haunted locations, UFO crash sites and monsters like Bigfoot and the Mothman. In a previous life, he worked in the independent movie industry but he finds his current career much more exciting.

Tony's first writing memory involves penning a short story about taking a road trip with his best friend and his dog (two different creatures) to watch KoKo B Ware in a professional wrestling event in Pittsburgh. He wrote that epic saga while in the 3rd grade and it was all downhill from there. His first books were a series of o)eat travelogues but recently his zombie apocalypse series, "Life of the Dead" has been a bestseller online and grossed out readers all over the world. His ultimate goal in life is to be killed by a monster thought by most to be imaginary. Sasquatch, werewolves, chupacabras, he’s not picky. If that fails, he’d enjoy making a living as a full time writer. Which of those two scenarios is more likely is up to the readers to decide.

There are still too many characters but Urban is working hard to make the situation better for me (IYKYK) and he keeps giving me gruesome scene so I'll keep reading and hoping that the story isn't going in the direction I think it might be going. There hasn't been too much obvious redshirting so far with this series which I appreciate, keeps thing high stake.

Wim has always been alone and had turned his back on the world before the world ended. He liked living on his farm and taking care of his animals. After meeting Ramey and getting to know her and giving her a safe place to sleep he wakes up the next morning to find that she has left without saying goodbye. Wim decides that he liked having Ramey around and wants her back so he packs up and hits the road hoping to find her. After all there is nothing left for him on his farm anymore.

While she is glad that she met Wim the nice farmer who gave her place to lay her head for the night she knows she can’t stay even if she wanted to she has to look for her Dad. She has to know if he is alive or not.

On his little road trip scouring the country hoping to find Ramey Wim meets some of the other characters like Emory and Bundy who run into Mina who has been driving around in an ambulance with a zombie riding in the back. They pick up Grady along the way and he hasn’t spoken a word since they found him.

After going out to look for supplies they return to their vehicle to find it over run with zombies trying to get to Grady. After giving the zombies mercy they find that they now have a new passenger in the vehicle, Juli. Juli grew tired of wearing a gown so decided it was time to go shopping when she heard the zombies outside so she rushed out to help whoever was in the car but ended up getting herself trapped as well.

Road of the Damned is filled with lots more blood and gore with lots and lots of zombie killing. It is a dog eat dog world or should I say dead humans eat live humans. As Mitch, a senator’s son who is trapped inside a bunker with thousands of zombies says “Living people dying, dead people coming back to life, undead people eating the living. Lather, rinse, repeat.” I couldn’t have said it better.

Hell on Earth was a great introduction Life of the Dead world. I love getting to know each character and finding out where they were going or headed and wondering if their lives would ever intertwined. I also liked seeing those same characters pick up their roles in Road of the Damned and getting to know them more watching them meet up with some of the other characters on their journeys and getting to see them kill more zombies and the situations they would get themselves into at times. The ending kind of threw me for a loop and I can’t wait to see where it takes us in the next book of Life of the Dead world, The Ark.

I love this author’s writing style and the characters are all amazing with some of the things they say and how they say it. Most of them are just what I would call down to earth kind of people who doesn’t beat around the bush when they say things and I love it. That’s what I say be honest and plain with it. I loved falling into this world once again. It was like being in the world of The Walking Dead and The Stand. It is like The Stand as the people are migrating toward each other and like The Walking Dead with them having to kill zombies on the way.

Come join in on this amazing world of zombies in the Life of the Dead by starting with Hell on Earth and then going on to Road of the Damned. If you like zombies and The Walking Dead then you will love Road of the Damned.

Insert cliche title here

Okay so… yeah! Much better than the first book. So much better when the character chapter swapping lessened. Nothing was predictable in this book. The loose ends in the first book kind of tied up in this one, a few mysteries left hanging. The end felt cut off again. Almost as if the author wrote one super long book and had to pick places to end one book and start another. The descriptive creative writing was epic. The ‘poop show’ was way too relatable but frickin hilarious. Gory blood n guts, character emotional moments, to some unexpected “turbulence,” it was all great. There is hope yet for this series. Just get through book one and this book will reward you.

Continuing the saga of the undead, the various ragtag groups are unknowingly starting to converge on each other though have yet to meet. Wim is in search of the girl that he met and saved near his farm, she only stayed a night but that brief contact has kindled in him a feeling of loneliness after she departed and now his need to reconnect with some semblance of humanity drives him to leave the farm that has always been his home and sanctuary.

Other small groups have banded together and are working their way through the countryside trying to find a place to feel safe and having to fight zombies of all sizes. There are some happy unions and a few losses of those we've come to know.

The story continues to be well written and the descriptions are clear, giving you a good depiction of how life is after the majority of mankind and animal life has been wiped out.

I received this book via a promo code and this is my voluntary review, Second book in the series. Wyn was still on the road to find the beautiful girl who he saved near his farm. XXL Escaped Con Bundy is finding love with Mina and Zombie Josiah is still wandering around with his Bible thumper daddy. While I had issues with the character overload from book one. Our groups are meeting along the road, good people are getting killed and bad guys are doing what they do best, surviving the chaos. This was an excellent story and each of the characters fought sensibly but in the end, who survived was sometimes just a matter of luck. None of these characters were too stupid to live and I will gladly be joining them for book 3. Really enjoyed Matthew Crow's narration.

A long damned road

The book is okay. I think there are some interesting ideas here, but for the most part it's cut-and-dry-seen-it-before. The issue I have is the sprawling nature of the story and the sheer number of people and places you have to keep track of. Leads to a lot of "who is this again" and "Oh, he died? Oh, well."

This book is better written than the first, but the author still has a lot of repetitive quirks that I feel subtract from the story. Every time you read "And that's what they did." to end a chapter (or derivative thereof) you have to take a drink. Those are the rules of the Road of the Damned.

Not just your average zombie book!! Way better!! Awesome!!!

Just finished Road of the Damned also read Hell on Earth. I have read a lot of books on the end of the world and have to say you can right a mean zombie book. I really like the way you but the reader in the story. You put this in a way that this could actually happen, is this the way we really become undead. So looking forward for your next installment of this because you know you can't leave us hanging with so much more to go. Thank you for the pleasure of reading such a great story

It's was good

The few we been following since it all started. Some find each other made small groups with each other and some relationships developed with some. Author did good job at switching from each character. I also liked that all of them can dead even if they are you're favorite person (s).

I do have few questions about something how did Juli make it having biting a zombie to kill it. And is the virus airborne because I didn't get that feeling with book1 half way into this book? Bit confused.

A step up from Book 1.

This one concludes with feeling somewhat finished. though again the first three books together feel more like a complete story to me. I just realized that books 4 and 5 are out so I Plan to read them asap.

beyond feeling more complete than the first book. this installment also expands on the world and characters. the only downside to this book is at times I got confused as to which character was which and who was with who. some descriptive reinforcement would be great.

Plot twist.. But not a bad one.

The survivors we followed individually in the first book have largely met up and that makes it a less confusing read then before.

Some characters were brought to life a lot more and others were a little less fleshed out and sort of faded into the background.

There are some editing issues, mainly the use of him when talking about a female character and vice versa, which made for some Hu? moments but overall it was an okay read.

Another one! Thrill ride, action packed! I felt like I was in the scenes running from zombies. Sagging skin, rancid breath. This is turning into my fav apocalyptic series.

Loved the cheesy laughs! Loved the descriptions of zombies, the fights, the characters.

The OMG! Moments when .... And then... OMG! I was in tears. (Trying my best to not give anything away).

When I reread paragraphs for the thrill, yes I'm having fun!

Quick read, great writing!

I can't wait to see what happens in The Ark.... I'm already smelling something is up.

Even better then the first which was awesome

Took a chance on the first book and was not disappointed. Second books are sometimes not as good but this one was even better. Don’t know if this is should be a warning or not.
The part I liked a lot was that this book is not set up as a fairy tale. Good people die, bad people remain. More true to life then many zombie stories. Can’t wait for book 3

Can't Be Too Careful

Good people die young, like Bundy and Bolivar. I was pleasantly surprised that Bundy found love with Mina. Opposite attracts obvious between them two. But Bundy's character was not going to get far in the book because of his weight, so I think it was time that Bundy's character be out down in this book, than to continue what we all know the ground rules in a zombie apocalypse...just have stamina.

Zombies g(al)ore!

Road of the Damned was a like an amusement park ride - entertaining, yet over too soon. It's a quick read, but since I did care what happened to the cast, the author did a fine job with character development. I was confused by the lack of consequences for the decision that both Sol and Juli made. Grady's story has piqued my interest. I look forward to reading the next book.

Great series!

An exciting and fun read with a great cast of "real people" just trying to survive the " zombie apocalypse ".... They are real folks who struggle to continue to stay alive and who leave a lump in our throats when their existence is cut short.... I am on to the next book....The Ark... the so called new beginning place and excuse me, but I am not getting good vibes on this place. We shall see....

Pretty awesome

Great second book in the series. I love that our survivors are finding more people. As they travel the road of the damned, they are learning g more about themselves and their capabilities. Some rise, some fall and some squeak by with no normal explanation. Ready for the next book.

There's something about these books, I don't know what it is but I want to read on to see what happens. I only gave this once three stars as nothing really happens in this book, a few key people are snuffed out but that's it. I'm hoping that the next one injects some story into it, something interesting.

I'm not saying it's bad but I wanted more, I can't even remember what the main point of it was and I'm on book three at the moment which I am enjoying a lot more. However, it seems to me like the author is trying to develop a character who i hate and i really hope she dies soon!

It's still entertaining and a good stepping stone into book three.

Book 2 of the Life of the Dead series will keep you absorbed if you love Zombies. The Survivors continue their journey seeking food, shelter and more of the living. Wim and Ramey are reunited. Wm promises to get Ramey to her destination in hopes to locate her father. I couldn’t put the book down. Keeps you wanting to read more.

Same As Book One: Fantastic!

Tony Urban continues to resist the temptation many EOTWAWKI writers succumbed two by either drowning the reader in needless gore or creating completely unbelievable, unrealistic situations where the actors somehow manage to survive. Pace is excellent, some good folks don't make it, and he continues to deliver a superb tale. Well done. Book 3 is next.

Road Of The Damned A Zombie Apocalypse Thriller (Life Of The Dead Book 2)

A great follow on from the first. Lots more fast paced action which didn’t disappoint. I got to know and like the characters more in this book, all normal folk and I was still surprised losing a few! I’m going straight onto the third now I can’t wait!

Amazing

1st book had me questioning all the character builds. This one brought the bigger picture together so beautifully! Ive been craving a post apocalyptic world filled with zombies.. and I got it!!!! The attachments to character and seeing the growth and having to endure the heart aches along with them😭. Can not wait to dive into the next one!

Adventure with many

Got mixed up about one of the many characters but finally figured it out. Good run with normal people without super powers. Humorous and realistic. Going to keep reading.

Decent

Needs more editing though.
Good story. Sorry to see Bundy go. He was one of my favorite characters.
Everyone knows that you shouldn't get attached to anyone in a zombie book.
Anyone can go at any time.

Really enjoyed the book. The episodic nature of the story kept me intensely interested and wanting more of THAT characters story. Really intriguing. Can't wait to see where this goes.
