Dangerous

Rate this book
Eli is hiding a dark and troubled past, one that he is good about forgetting. That is, until the day he meets Claire.Claire is a military veteran and a single mom, going back to school to better her life. After her disastrous divorce, the last thing on her mind is falling in love. Until she meets Eli.The pair quickly becomes tangled in the darkness of Eli’s past, and there are only two ways out. Forget about love and walk away from each other, or destroy the one man who threatens them both. This is NOT a sweet and innocent romance. The characters use bad language when they are mad. They get excited and graphically enjoy each other in bed. This is a romantic suspense that portrays some violence in the name of suspense, not in the name of romance.Dangerous is a full-length stand-alone contemporary romance novel. It is the first in a series of standalone romance novels that take place in Seaside Cove. Other novels may mention characters from previous novels and the reader can catch up with some of their favorite couples, but there are so cliff-hangers.Each novel is a HEA.

Another so, so romance.

There are a lot of coincidences in this book that make it a little difficult to believe. It was also difficult to pin down Eli and Claire's personalities because they seemed to be a little all over the place. I also felt like I was missing something throughout because Jack and Molly's romance happens prior to this book. It would have been better if this book were listed as the second in a series and not just a book in a series, which implies that the order doesn't matter. Finally, there are many missing words in this book as well as an instance where Robert becomes Richard. I found myself having to reread often in order for things to make sense.

Sweet

Eli had so many thoughts about going in to school I thought he was in high school. Claire had her own set of troubles. A likeable and sweet story.

This is my favorite of her books. The characters really struggle with their self-identities but Eli puts others well-being before his own, making him my kind of prince charming. I also related to the bits about mechanics, community college, single parenthood and a falling down house.
