Pleasant Creek, Indiana, buzzes with anticipation as thousands of people converge on the sleepy little town for the annual Harvest Festival. The Kappel Apple Race and the Hog Wild Ride draw groups of cyclists and bikers to Liz Eckardt's Olde Mansion Inn. But tension between the rival groups threatens to ruin the festive atmosphere. As Liz attempts to keep the peace, the conflict among her guests pushes her patience to the limit. The tension escalates when Trent Cleveland, the egotistical champion cyclist, sets his womanizing sights on one of the biker's girlfriends.
As the Kappel Apple Race begins, Trent is expected to triumph once again. But before the star cyclist can cross the finish line...he crashes into a tree.
To everyone's shock, Trent dies before he reaches the hospital. How did the young, healthy cyclist die so quickly and unexpectedly? Had he been suffering from a major medical issue without realizing it, or was he a victim of foul play? Trent had made many enemies, broke numerous hearts, and won countless races over the years, so the list of potential suspects is long.
With help from her family and fellow Material Girls, Liz investigates the circumstances surrounding the race, uncovering ugly family secrets and a web of lies. When Liz and her family are threatened, she stays the course, determined to discover the truth about Trent's final race.

This is a Cozy Mystery, and this is the 7th book in the Amish Inn Mysteries series. The main character is Liz, and she runs an Inn in Amish Country. I really enjoy this series. This is all about a bike race, but one of Liz's guest who is also a bike racer dies. Liz tries to figure out who kill him during this book. I really enjoyed the characters in this book and this series. The ending of this book had a big twist that was really good, and it keeps you guessing. I really enjoyed this book. I read this book in November 2019 and then I reread it by listening to the audiobook in April 2021. (*)
This was a fun, quick to read cozy mystery. I'm thoroughly enjoying the series, and am especially liking the ones by this author. The books are about Liz, a bed and breakfast owner, and her friends, some of them Amish. There are several authors contributing books to this series.
I liked the mystery in this one, and the book was a very pleasant way to spend a few hours.
If you want to get even with Trent, take a number and stand in line. At least, that’s what it seems like. It’s race time at Pleasant Creek, for both cyclists and bikers, and Liz is playing host to both factions. And when a love’em and leave’em type cyclist dies during a race, there are plenty of suspects to go around. It’s a fast-paced mystery, with an unpredictable ending. Liz, of course, jumps in with both feet, again putting herself in the murderer’s crosshairs.
The story was okay. It was too repetitive and wordy for me taste. You can only explain a bicycle, motorcycle, and their outfits so many times. The story was a good idea but there were too many elements involved. I just couldn't wrap my head around this one.
A Silent Betrayal is another fantastic mystery written by Rachael O Phillips in the Amish Inn Mystery series. As the town of Pleasant Creek is decended upon by thousands of out of town people things heat up rather quick. Liz Eckardt finds she has a group of cyclists, and motorcycle drivers have reserved rooms in her inn. Several within these groups don't hit it off and trouble is brewing right from the start. When a very popular cyclists is found dead on the route of the big Kappel Apple Race all eyes are on the leader of the Harley group. As details are released suspects keep changing and even involves an Amish young man. When Liz and the police chief start putting the clues together the end result is shocking. The characters in this story will have you close to tears and at times cracking up.
I was not given a complimentary copy of this book to read and review. I was not approached to post a favorable response. All opinions are my own. I have rated this story with five stars for meeting my expectations of a wonderful mystery that I can highly recommend to others.
"A Silent Betrayal (Amish Inn Mysteries #7)" by Rachael O. Phillips has Liz with an Inn full of bikers. Both styles, cyclists and motorcyclists. Of course, the two groups clash and more so after the "leader" of the cyclists goes after one of the motorcyclists fiancés. Turns out this cyclist sees himself as a bit of a ladies man and past experience in town hasn't proven him wrong. This, of course, is his undoing.
Liz gets pulled into helping. She kinda of sees her godson/adoptive son in the guy that's one of the suspects. Also, the victim was staying at her inn. There was another reason she got pulled into but honestly it was such a brief one that I'm either forgetting it or misremembering it to begin with.
Interesting story, but many more books and Pleasant Creek is going to run out of residents. A fall festival in conjunction with a neighboring town. Sanctioned bicycle and motorcycle races. Conflict over a girl. One of the cyclists ends up dead.
The next in the series of the Amish Inn Novels. Excellent storyline with intrigue and mystery along with some very positive good thinking and working as a team at times. Always looking forward to the next in the series.
I enjoyed reading this mystery... Even though it was smack dab in the middle of the series! It got a little boring in some parts of the book, but I still enjoyed it and passed it on to a friend.
