In book ten, Rachael O'Brien's blossoming relationship with a handsome FBI agent has lifted her romantic hopes, but being on the run from a murder charge presents a thorny conflict of interest for the lawman.
Determined to clear her name, Rachael enlists her worldly grandmother and her southern fried friends to help flush out the wily voodoo priestess who holds the key to exoneration. But plans are complicated with family dynamics when Aunt Gert, the Sunset Towers retirement homes newest tenant, claims the place is rife with devil worshippers hell bent on killing off the residents.
In Paisley's Ray's DEVILED HAM inner strength and survival instincts are tested as Rachael struggles to prove her innocence, protect her family, and kindle a romance. Can she untangle the knots that bedevil her before all is lost?
The Rachael O'Brien Chronicles are not your typical fiction. A young woman's plan for an art history degree turns into an outrageous series of misadventures in this laugh-out-loud romp about a girl who enrolls in a southern college during the height of the crazy era that was the 1980's. This collection crosses genres of chick lit, mystery, romance, humor, and action with the possibility of a corpse or two.
Book number 10 of Rachael's adventures was long anticipated by myself. Having read the whole series this author always manages to leave me hanging and wanting more. I do not give spoilers in my reviews as I believe people should experience the delight of finding out from the book instead of word of mouth. What I can say as this latest instalment has me begging for more hijinks and adventures! Plus I want to know what the hell is going to happen in Rachael's love life! Fantastic book I would recommend to everyone. Thanks to the author for an enjoyable read and if you can hurry up with the next one I'd appreciate it ha ha xx
Yet another slam dunk for Paisley Ray!!! I love every single book in this series and this latest one did not disappoint!! Each time you think you might know what's coming next, she throws in a new twist and you're right back at the beginning trying to figure out where the story is going next. Can't wait for the next book to come out!!
I just finished reading the entire series from start to finish in less than 6 days. I have lost sleep, I can probably count on my fingers the number of multi-word sentences I have spoken to my husband, I even paid for Amazon Whispersync just so I could switch between reading and listening while driving so that I didn't have to stop! If that doesn't convince you of how good these books are, I'm not sure anything will! Even though I attended and graduated college within the last decade, and was born somewhere towards the end of Shelled and Shucked, the characters and storylines are so relatable and the writing so engaging that it was not difficult to acclimate to the time period at all. The mix of mystery, intrigue, action, romance and humor are perfect. I love the way the writing weaves all of these genres seamlessly into one story. I really feel like I'm going through withdrawals now that I've run out of reading material. I can only hope a new one is on the way soon.... And by the way, if we're taking votes, I vote for Stone!
I have enjoyed all the books in the Rachael O'Brien series. This one is no exception as it was a fun read with a great plot twist. I'm hoping there will be a book #11!
Totally unbelievable plot line. Finally figured out what happened to Travis. Worse book yet. No funny interactions with friends. Murderers released, lottery bosses chasing her down, satanic rituals at a retirement home, voodoo used as a weapon, and the Antiques Road Show. Even though this one ends with the promise of another book, I am finished. The early promise of this series is gone. Forced and stilted writing of the characters.
I really enjoyed Deviled Ham. It was the best story in the series of ten books. I enjoyed the mystery and couldn't honestly foresee the outcome. The book would have easily had a five star rating, except for the ending or rather lack of one. I would have hoped the final book in a ten book series would have had some sort of conclusion, it was really quite disappointing. All in all a great series, I will miss hearing the adventures of Rachael O'Brien let down by its ending.
The last three books combined are only covering one summer & should've been one book. I still enjoy the writing and the fun story lines, but breaking such small periods of time into an entire book is just irritating - that makes it a short story, not a book. It feels like I'm paying 3 times to get one book. I just don't like that.
I love reading the Rachael O'Brien stories I hope that there are more coming I hate to think Rachael doesn't find her mate and how does her dad get out of his little predicament
Enjoyed all the antics of Rachael and her friends. Cant wait to see what she is up to next. Im sure we'll be seeing more of Katie Lee and the other college pals.
I love this series and was not disappointed in the 10th novel. It has been awhile since I read the 9th one, but I was immediately immersed in the characters again. I was excited to see Mitch make an appearance as well. He might be my favorite of Rachael's love interests.
I've read all 10 of the Rachael O'Brien Chronicles and loved every one. Can't wait for the next one to come out. I've never read and series straight through as I did this one. I couldn't wait for the next installment. Rachael's curiosity gets her into so many tight spots. Really sorry she and Stone couldn't make it, but I am sure in the up coming books someone similar to him will come along. She still has that open end Europass from GG to take advantage of. Look out Europe.
