Evelyn Brooks lives with the freedom only her kind can know - in her human form as a photographer, and in the skies as a falcon. When a stalker drives her from her home, Evelyn discovers a beautiful, wild sanctuary in North Carolina. After a bolt of magic knocks her from the sky, leaving her helpless, she realizes too late that danger has invaded her refuge.
Park ranger Lawke Morgan’s day goes from bad to worse when his ex-wife unexpectedly drops off their 13-year-old daughter, Zoe, in the beginning of a dangerous storm. His life takes a turn for the bizarre after he finds an injured Peregrine falcon that transforms into a lovely woman.
When his daughter is kidnapped by an Aztec priest, one who should have been dead for centuries, Lawke learns that Evelyn holds the key to the priest’s demands. Together they must confront blood sacrifices, defy ancient gods, and find a way to trust each other when Zoe’s life hangs in the balance.
Can a woman used to soaring amongst the clouds embrace love with a man firmly rooted on the ground?
If you can believe me, I’m the falcon. That’s not possible. It’s magic. Anything was possible. I ABSO-FLYING-LUTELY love, Love, LOVE this book!! I was blown away by how quickly the story captivated me, pulling me in all but instantly, immersing me, shifting me from being "Cherri" to "Evelyn" in only a few heartbeats! Beth's storytelling is pure magic! From the descriptions being detailed in all the right ways & in all the right places so that they fully enhance the story, the scenery, the activity happening at each moment and enhancing my experience, bringing yet one more aspect of this story to full-blown HD life all around me! I loved the way the first meeting between Evelyn & Lawke played out! The chemistry was immediate and hinted at so much more than was being said between the characters as well as what us readers were privy to! WOW! I have read a LOT of shifter books over the years, with less than a handful pertaining to bird-shifters, but NEVER have I ever felt like I was shifting with them! Not like how Beth describes Evelyn's shift from Peregrine to human, told from Evelyn's point of view! I truly love Beth's shifters, magic & everything that goes with it! I don't know how but Beth's version/take on shifters, their lifespans, abilities, etc. is so exquisitely unique & PURE GENIUS! I was so blown away by just how awesome the story was, that extra something that's added in that's hard to define but yet it’s there all the same, keeping me glued to the book, keeping me spellbound and enraptured by it all!! And even though I love, Love, LOVE the story, I'm *almost* glad it wasn't longer! Between the suspense, romance & mysticism/cryptic wording, my impatience had me craving - NEEDING - to know it all, to get answers, NOW!! But like all great authors, Beth kept me guessing straight through to the end… and beyond! wink Okay, I really DO wish it was longer! I love the story & characters so much, too much to let them go so soon! Plus there were a couple of parts that I felt could have been expanded a bit to better explain them. But at the same time, I love that Beth had me thinking, didn't just hand me a "flat" story with everything expressly detailed out, leaving nothing to the imagination. Plus I have a hunch that this is a much bigger story that will take more than one book to tell. NOT that this is a cliff-hanger ending, just a few things piqued my interest and had me immediately wanting to know the “story” behind them. This may be only one story - one FANTASTIC story - but I am confident in saying that Beth is one phenomenally talented author! Even if I hadn't read the Acknowledgments before I read the book, I would've still known that Beth put a lot of time, effort, research, love & passion into creating & writing it. The depth, the details, the richness of it all is so heartfelt, so magical, so beautiful, so wondrous, so REAL, I could feel what I believe is the passion & love that Beth feels for the story & her characters, as well as for the real life falcons & nature itself. I can tell that she loves what she does, her love for owls/falcons shines brightly throughout, adding another layer, another level of enrichment to the story. This is my first Beth Caudill book, but is DEFINITELY NOT the last! Something about this man captured her awareness, caused her to forget about everything else. Anyone else.
Curiously different, this is my first experience with a falcon shifter. Thoroughly enjoyed this writers ability to layer the many facets of this storyline. There is definite heat between our falcon shifter and her ranger, yet unlike most other destined mates "tethering" a falcon is not an easy task.i commend this writer for creating such a unique plot. There are still some unanswered questions as well as hints to future stories so I hope there is more to come. This book is short and flows beautifully so curl up with a cup of java and soar in the sky with the lovely Evelyn!
Evelyn Brooks a falcon shifter lives her life in solitude perching on trees, looking for beautiful things to photograph. She doesn't want a relationship because that would mean being caged in as in at home all the time and what man would understand her need to fly, to be free with nature. While in Willows Haven Evelyn is shot down as her falcon by something unknown and she is rescued by Park Ranger Lawke Morgan. Unbeknownst to them this rescue has put the whole family in danger, but Evelyn also faces the danger of the pull she feels with Lawke.. She swears to help remove the danger she has unknowingly created for Lawke and his daughter and in the process she must decide if this man that loves nature just as much as she does can accept her as she is and be good for her.
This is a nice quick read. I love shifter books and I don't read many with falcons. I like this love story but I think I would have liked it better as a full novel so it could have went more in depth with the characters. I did enjoy this book.

REVIEW
Evelyn has flown through life alone for the most part but something within her is changing. However one day she is shot out of the sky and rescued by a very sexy man and his daughter. Zoe is taken and now things are starting to come to the surface for many in a world outside of reality? Lawke needs to save his daughter and Evelyns heart can he do both? Grab your copy and find out. Fantastic short book especially if you love shifters with a bit more oomph.
This is my first book from this author, but it definitely won't be my last! Ms. Caudill brought out all the emotions and drew me right into the story. I cheered for Evelyn and Lawke to find happiness together and save Zoe. Do they find their happily ever after? I highly recommend you read to find out?
I really enjoyed this one. Although it is clearly a shifter novel, there are strong life lessons in it. It has a great plot and lovable characters. I would read more of these if they were written by this author. Sadly, this series is written by several different authors, some not so great...
I liked the plot, but found the story needs fleshing out. I was a bit confused at the end as to who was who, and left at the end feeling left out in the cold. There is more story here. This could, and should be fleshed out into a full length novel.
A good story I just wish it went on a little longer to show how the three become one as in a family.will look for your next installment, and hope it includes possibly a nesting or two,and maybe the rest of her clan will fend there way to the town and find a safe home. Thanks for a good read looking forward to your next release as always Fred!!!
