All-star catcher Dylan Prosser always has his head in the game. Accustomed to keeping opponents from stealing bases, Dylan is completely focused on getting the team to the playoffs no matter what the cost. He definitely doesn’t expect anyone to steal his heart and turn his life upside down–least of all, a stray dog and a beautiful girl.
After the ultimate abandonment by her family, Savannah Monroe channels her savior-complex tendencies into helping animals because they can't hurt her like people can. Life at the animal rescue shelter has always provided the security and personal reward that she needs to be happy while protecting her heart.
But as she works with Sadie, Savannah soon realizes that his dog isn’t the only one who needs saving…
Ever since Megan Ryder discovered Jude Deveraux and Judith McNaught while sneaking around the “forbidden” romance section of the library one day after school, she has been voraciously devouring romance novels of all types. Now a romance author in her own right, Megan pens sexy contemporary novels all about family and hot lovin’ with the boy next door. She’s also a master procrastinator–with knitting and yarn shopping as her primary form of procraftination!
For someone who knows nothing about baseball (I’m British, the amount of questions I have relating to the sport is ridiculous), I really enjoy a good sports romance involving said sport. In fact, quite often I find myself enjoying a good romance that involves aspects of life I know nothing about or do not enjoy in other contexts. Thus, I was more than happy to jump into The Game Changer.
I was a little bit tentative at first, as it’s the third book in the Knights of Passion series, yet this soon passed when I realised the book works perfectly fine as a standalone novel. I want to go on and read the other books in the series – I have been pulled into the world, and I want to know more – but my enjoyment of this story was not diminished in any way through having not read the prior books. How this one compares to the other books, I cannot say; however, if the other books are as enjoyable as this one, I’m positive I’ll adore the series and have yet another sports romance series to be keeping on top of.
The Game Changer is more than a simple baseball romance, giving us all we expect from any contemporary romance read through bringing in multiple aspects. The baseball aspect is just one aspect of the story. In addition to the baseball aspect, we have dysfunctional families and wonderful dog tales. What more could you want? Those two things are always wonderful when thrown into a romance story. Dysfunctional families promise a lot of drama, leaving us hopeful of interesting interactions. Dogs… well, dogs are dogs and they’re always welcome in such stories.
Honestly, the dogs. It’s not just a simple canine friendship: the animal aspect of the story has real depth. We’re given an insight into animal rescue shelters and it’s so well done. It’s more than just a way to bring about interaction between the characters – this part of the story has real emotion behind it. Within no time at all, I was wanting to take the dogs into my arms and proclaim them as my own. It’s always wonderful when stories take such elements and make them real, rather than leaving them as a simple way to connect the two characters. I really could go on for quite some time about the dogs – but I won’t. I’ll just leave you to enjoy that aspect without any more prattling on from me.
As much as I enjoyed the animals, I also had a lot of fun with the characters. I loved the way their story developed, pulling me in as I hoped for the best. Whilst it wasn’t as charged as some romances, and whilst the tension wasn’t quite as high as it sometimes is in such stories, this made for a sweet little read. It has the necessities to keep you engaged, it pulls you in, and it plays with your emotions. It does all that good romance novels need to do without being overly complex. In other words, it’s a great quick read if you want something that hits the spot without requiring too much by way of attention.
A great read, one that has certainly left me wanting to read more of the series. As my first Megan Ryder book, it’s certainly left me willing to read more of her work.
I voluntarily received an advanced review copy of this book and chose to review it.
I loved the premise for this book but unfortunately the characters just didn't do it for me, I found it really hard to connect to them. Maybe that was the point, but I just couldn't warm to them. Savannah is so stubborn and single minded and in no way could see what was right in front of her. There were so many times I wanted to shake her because she was being so stupid. Dylan was a bit better, a sweet loner but I found him lacking. I found the whole story lacking. I would've liked to see more emotion, more drama, just more. Even the problems with the team lacked any real feeling and were fixed too easily. A great premise but the story lacked for me, sorry.
I liked Dylan, he could be a hands on man, "he pulled her closer, her hips snug against him. “I think I deserve a little more than a quick peck on the cheek.” There were times Dylan needed to usr his woman as a shield, "...she started to move to the side, but Dylan held her place, hiding the erection that prodded her belly. He nodded. “I think that could be arranged, assuming the terms meet my approval, Jason.” I really enjoyed this book, I loved seeing the tender side of Dylan when he was with Savannah.
Savannah Monroe & Dylan Prosser cross paths when Dylan tries to leave an abandoned pittie at the local dog shelter. In typical Savannah style she lectures Dylan on what he is attempting to do & has to acknowledge she was wrong when he tells the story behind why he is there. This story brings together two of my most favorite subjects..... baseball & dogs plus it's reading so I was in heaven!! It was a thrill & pleasure to read about how these two emotionally cut off people learned to risk trusting another with their hearts. Savannah is a young dog rescue champion who was raised by a very unstable mother who cared more about hook-ups with men than she did about taking care of her two daughters. Dylan is a professional baseball catcher who grow up in a pro-ball family & has resigned himself to never do that to another family so has given up on wanting any attachments in his life until his ball career is over. While Sadie the abandoned pitbull, brings them together it is their fear of being hurt that keeps them from wanting more. Like any good romance, the walls start to fall from around each of their hearts as they get to know one another & become closer. It isn't until Savannah has to do the unthinkable that Dylan finally confronts her & calls her on her fear of commitment. Will Savannah be able to hear what Dylan is trying to tell her? Will Dylan listen to what Savannah has to say about the situation? Will these two lost souls find a way to heal together?
This is my first Megan Ryder read & boy am I hooked. Not all her stories are about dogs & baseball but I will still read more of her work. She has a way of bringing you into the lives she is writing about with care & honesty. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading contemporary romance. A solid win!
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader's Copy of this book.
The Game Changer is the the third book in the Knights of Passion Series and I was looking forwarding to reading this one. I really enjoyed the first two books. This book is about Dylan "Professor" Prosser the catcher for the Knights Baseball team. Dylan is not sure where his future is going as a major league baseball player especially after the Knights season last year and his contract ends at the end of the season and management changes at the beginning of this season. When a stray dog comes around he knows he can't take care of it and takes it to the pound. That is where he meets Savannah. Her mission in life is to rescue dogs and makes a deal with Dylan to help him with the dog if he will keep the dog.
I love sports romance books and this one is definitely one I would recommend. Dylan comes off as a hard person and a loner who takes baseball was too seriously. Spending time with his new dog Sadie and Savannah shows him he really needs a life beyond baseball but can he open up his heart and let them in. Dylan has spend so much time keeping at bay because they want touse him for their own personnel gain it's hard to think Savannah is not wanting to use him too.
Savannah would love nothing more than to rescue every dog that came through the doors. Her dream is to one day open up a kennel and help dogs. She would never use Dylan and his status for her to reach this goal. I loved how both Savannah and Dylan had passion and not just in the bedroom. This book was will written and I liked how the author included how baseball teams works.
This book had me hooked from the beginning. This can be read as a stand alone but I recommend reading the first two books.
Arc provided on behalf of The Wandering Bookaholic in exchange of an honest review
Good book! Great characters!
I read all 3 of the knights series books back to back and this was my favourite. The characters were great and so relatable. Savannah has a huge heart and despite being hurt in the past she doesn't let it get her down. She has a gentle nature which she uses to focus all her energy and time to helping save dogs. It is an abandoned dog that makes her cross paths with Dylan, the knights newest signing. Dylan is very much a loner, who at first struggles to bond with his team mates and chooses to live out in the woods away from everyone. Savannah brings out his softer side which is evident he has when he takes in the stray dog who choose him to be her human. Savannah helps Dylan look after and train Sadie and quickly they find they that their feeling go deeper than just dog owner and dog sitter. I loved seeing the way characters grew together and brought out each other's best features.
Definitely a series I would recommend and I can't wait for the next book!
This is an emotional story about Animal Rescue and what happens when someone is trying so hard to save every dog they can by trying to find them all homes. It was a touching story that made you cry at times and laugh at others.
Dylan is a baseball player who has a dog "adopt" him. When he tries to take it to the shelter he comes up against an advocate of the Animal rescue and owner of a Rescue Savannah he has met his match.
I think you will enjoy their story. It really is a cute and emotional read.
**ARC received voluntarily in exchange for review**
This was a sweet and different book. Dylan Prosser and Savannah Monroe met thru a dog, lol. Dylan is a MLB catcher that doesn't let anyone "in" and thinks that everyone is out to use him; he's kind of a loner. Savannah isn't interested in dating and her world revolves around the dogs and pet rescue that she runs with her friend.
Dylan and Savannah meet after he finds a stray dog and decides to keep her. Savannah helps him out with the dog and next thing you know they are falling for each other. It was steady after these two got together and there was no turning back.
There was low drama but it wasn't dragged out. That epilogue was beautiful, ❤️
ARC Review: The Game Changer (Knights of Passion) by Megan Ryder
Megan Ryder took her best shot and scored one for the home team. The Game Changer took hold of my heart and has yet to let go. The character that left the greatest impact was Savannah. The woman with a huge heart but a battered soul spoke to me. Instead of focusing on her own hurts, she set her sights on helping others (of the four legged variety). Helping animals gave her a sense of peace and purpose that she had long done without. Will an adorable stray help her find the love she's craved for so long? I fell so in love with the main characters. The fact that the story had a background centered on sports proved completely irrelevant.
I loved the idea of this book but unfortuntly I struggled with the characters and felt no connection. Dylan although he comes across as a sweet loner I found him to be lacking and actually quite boring. Maybe I'm just use to big strong alpha males but Dylan just didn't do it for me. Savannah just really made me angry and I wanted to jump through my kindle and yell at her to open her eyes. Although yes there was a bit drama in the story it just seemed to be brushed over really quickly, there wasn't enough emotion/drama or anything to really grab me and capture me.
This won't stop me reading other books by this author it just wasn't the right book for me although there is a lot of promise there.
If you love baseball and dogs, this is a great book for you. Megan Ryder writes an excellent story combining baseball and animal rescue. She definitely did her homework on the behind the scenes dealings with baseball and rescues. Add romance and get a great read.
Dylan Prosser is a catcher with the Georgia Knights baseball team. His father had also been a major league player, but one whose career had never been as successful as he desired it to be. He moved his family often to chase his dream. Dylan and his baby sister, Lindsey, learned early to say goodbye to friends, homes, and even pets with each move.
Even now, his father wants to live vicariously through Dylan. He, of course, always knows what's best for Dylan. Dylan has also had problems with women who he thought loved him. So far, every woman he's been interested in only wanted him for his money or the connections he has that might boost their careers.
Savannah Monroe and her best friend, Colleen Hart, met as high school freshmen when Savannah's mother had moved there in another one of her searches for a man, a dream, or fleeing debt. But the next year when her mother was ready to move on again, she refused to go, and Lucy agreed with her. But when she was seventeen, her mother and sister moved. Unfortunately, Lucy has followed in their mother's footsteps.
Savannah and Colleen founded Soul Paws Rescue. The dream is to one day have not only a rescue facility but also provide boarding, daycare, training, and low-cost veterinary care. They hope to train rescue dogs to work with the police or to be therapy dogs.
A stray shows up at Dylan's home. He can't keep her because he travels too much to be able to care for her. He takes her to a shelter to surrender her, but Savannah is there, and she tells him that the dog will more likely than not be euthanized since she's a scarred pittie. She agrees to help him.
Both Dylan and Savannah have baggage from previous attempts at finding love. She's bound and determined not to ask for or accept money from him. But when he hears a message left on his answering machine, he jumps to a wrong conclusion. He's already under a lot of pressure trying to deal with the Knights' starting pitcher, and this is the last straw for him.
Will they be able to straighten things out between them, or is this truly the end of their story?
At times this book was difficult for me to read. I could never foster a dog. I'd be a foster failure every single time! If it gets the point across to even just one person that dogs, or any pets, are not disposable items, it's a success.
I've adopted some rescue dogs. One was the quirkiest dog I've ever seen. If there is a God, his previous owner will never need flying or harp lessons!
I received an ARC of this book from the author via Booksprout. I am voluntarily leaving this review.
In The Game Changer the reader meets Savannah Monroe, dog savior, and Dylan Prosser, catcher for the Georgia Knights baseball team. Savannah found her salvation early in life; saving helpless dogs from terrible situations and kill shelters. Dylan found he inherited a talent for baseball. With a father who wants to ride his coattails, Dylan learned early to fend for himself in all the ways that counted.
Dylan never expected to become the owner of a stray dog nor did he expect to meet the most fantastic woman, Savannah even though she blasted him for contemplating giving up the stray. Dylan closed off from life never expected the dog, he names Sadie, to change his life. Savannah agrees to help Dylan train Sadie, never realizing not only will she help Sadie, she will also help Dylan and herself. As the attraction burns hot, Dylan, Sadie, and Savannah dance the dance of attraction, love, and life.
CHARACTERS, PLOTTING, DEVELOPMENT:
I found this book well-written with well-developed characters. I am a dog lover and any book with animals always grabs my heart. Ms. Ryan faces head-on the issue of kill shelters and the over population of dogs in America. I felt Savannah's heart breaking as she left the facilities filled with dogs worthy of rescue, knowing she can not save them all.
Dylan's character is a prime example of fame and the betrayals which occurs as fame opens them to people who desire only to share the limelight. He has learned to close off and protect himself; especially from his father. The plotting was smooth and steady and the story-line held my attention.
In concluding my review I found a solid well-written story-line with intense hot love scenes. If you do not care for love scene, this book may not be for you, as they are intense and hot.
THE GAME CHANGER RECOMMENDATION: STARS 4
Due to sexual content, I recommend this book for young adults and adults. Personally if a book is too racy for me I skip over those parts.
FINALLY, PLEASE NOTE:
I received this book from the author and voluntarily chose to review with honest book review.
What a great book! Dylan is a catcher for the Georgia Knights baseball team. He takes the game & his job seriously & doesn't trust himself, his talent, or the team to keep him in one place. Everything is temporary. Until an abandoned dog adopted him & in a round about way, brought Savannah into his life.
Savannah runs a rescue out of her house & every job she has is to help her further her rescue. She doesn't trust anyone not to leave although she won't admit it. She's got all these plans to take her rescue to the next step but finds reasons not to follow through.
Megan Ryder grabs a hold of your heart with this one & pulls tightly on the strings. Abandoned abused dogs, their scrappy defender & a hot sexy baseball player. What else do you want in a book? From the opening scene,I was wrapped up in this book. I was only going to read for a few minutes but when I looked up, a couple of hours had gone by & I was finished. Yes, you can call me a softy but there were scenes in this one that hit me so hard, I cried right along with Savannah. I love a book that can engage my emotions to that extent. The characters were well developed & the dogs tried to steal the show. I can't wait to read the next in the series! While these books are in a series, & there are recurring appearances from other main characters, they can each be read as a stand alone.
Who would have ever guessed that a stray dog would bring two people together, but that's what happens in The Game Changer.
Dylan is a baseball player for the Knights, trying to figure out how to get his team back in sync and playing well together. When a stray dog finds its way to his home - he knows he's not in a gods position to be a pet owner but when he tries to take the dog to the local animal control - he's almost attacked by the feisty dog lover in rescue worker Savannah.
These two couldn't be more different but the chemistry it's there is spades. Savannah's words make Dylan keep the dog but as he tells her it's only temporary- he can't be a dog owner because of his lifestyle as a ball player. But as the two of them work together on training the dog sparks fly and they discover there might be something more between them than an arrangement to save a dog.
I really enjoyed how Savannah helped Dylan understand how to reach his teammates and he helped her look at her rescue in different ways. They had their moments but ultimately work well together.
The Game Changer was a great addition to the series. I really enjoyed watching as these two figured things out and came together all over one dog who wandered into Dylan's life.
As always in the series, I enjoyed the side characters as well and seeing the sports action.
After being shuffled around as a child, Dylan Prosser swore he would wait till his baseball career was over before finds a wife and settling down. After moving around to chase her mother's boyfriends and finally putting her foot down only to have her mother leave, Savannah Monroe puts everything she has into rescuing dogs. Upon first meeting their is no denying the attraction on the annoyance between the two. Savannah's rescue needs donations and sponsors, will she use Dylan's name to get them? Will they be able to build up a relationship regardless of their pasts? Will Savannah and Dylan be able to admit that they were wrong?
I have to say, this story sucked me in immediately. The heart of a rescuer is always bleeding and to read about it was heartbreaking, BUT I loved the point of view. Loved how despite their somewhat common pasts, Dylan and Savannah were able to find a middle ground. Both pushed people away determined to not get attached. Loved Savannah's perspective because after hearing another rescuer talk at a fundraiser, no one thinks about the decisions that these people have to make. Loved how both brought each other out of their shell! Excellent book that I HIGHLY recommend reading, but make sure you have the tissues ready!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Dylan Prosser's career as catcher for the Knights baseball team doesn't leave him much time to do anything else. Clearly, he doesn't have time to care for a dog, so how is it that animal lover Savannah Monroe manages to convince him to take the one he was planning to leave at the local animal shelter home with him. Knowing he needs help to take care of his new dog, Savannah agrees to lend him a hand. However, the more time Dylan spends with Savannah, the more he finds himself unable to resist her. The question is -- will Savannah's desire to achieve her dream when it comes to rescuing animals put their growing relationship at risk, or will Dylan realize that Savannah isn't like the other people in his life that like to take advantage of who he is and what he can do for them?
Ms. Ryder has really outdone herself when it comes to this book, and I've got to say that -- in my opinion -- it's the best in the series yet. Right from the beginning, this story was riveting, fast-paced and a story I finished in record time because of its entertaining plot, well-written dialogue and amazing characters that had so much chemistry between them, which eventually spilled over onto the pages in nicely-detailed and completely hot sex scenes that did justice to this couple's intense chemistry.
The way this story started with Dylan dealing with his sister and her excuses had me feeling sorry for him. They were once very close, and now she's out of control in trying to keep her career going. Why does she continue to let their mother control her life? However, it was the moment that the hero and heroine met where things really got interesting. Savannah totally loses it and I could understand why because she's so passionate about saving animals, as animals are easier to deal with than people and can't hurt her.
As for the dialogue, it was intense due to the main characters back stories and their reasons for keeping most people at a distance. Savannah was hurt by her previous relationship and craves stability because of the way she grew up. Can Dylan offer her that when he's constantly travelling to play baseball? Can he prove to her that not all men are like her ex? That there are people that think what she does to rescue animals is admirable, which is proven by all Dylan does for her when it comes to her dream of expanding her rescue operations.
Both the main characters were compelling, and I couldn't get enough of them, especially Dylan. He doesn't have it easy with his family, just like Savannah doesn't have it easy with hers. Both have sisters that need them, and I liked how the secondary characters helped the main ones realize that they should give the other a chance, no matter what causes the snags in their growing relationship. Because it's palpable to everyone that Savannah is good for Dylan and vice versa.
While Savannah, she's strong, brave, independent and isn't afraid to speak her mind when it comes to something she's passionate about. The way she spoke to Dylan when they first met had me surprised at her outburst, as I wasn't expecting her to lose it the way she did. Also, I liked how kind, caring and passionate she was about rescuing every dog that came her way, even though there were moments that made me tear up, as the heroine knew it was impossible to save them all.
Overall, Ms Ryder has penned an incredible read in this book, which has me looking forward to more of this series, because of the way things turned out for various secondary characters including a broken relationship and an injury to one of Dylan's teammates. As for the ending, it was perfect, as Dylan proved to Savannah how much he loved her. Certainly, he found a way to win her back by doing what he does in both the last chapter and the epilogue. Especially since he over-reacted to what he thinks she did to cause them to go their separate ways at the critical moment in the story. I would recommend The Game Changer by Megan Ryder, if you enjoy sports romances or books by authors Carly Phillips, Katie Rose or Lisa B. Kamps
I liked this book. It's the first of this series that I've read, and I had no problems, so can obviously be read as a stand alone. Throughout the whole book I was worried if Dylan would stay with the team. Actually I was thinking that they would be lucky if there still was a team. It seemed like the Georgia Knights had a lot of problems. It was fun watching them work together for the good of the team. Savannah doesn't want to take advantage of anyone. So if that means that it makes her job a little harder, so be it. She knows first hand what it feels like to be used and then tossed away when you're of no good anymore. Problem is, she runs a non-profit, and needs to rely on others. Savannah and Dylan skate around each other for quite a while, until the sexual tension is way beyond anything that they can handle. Together they can do great things, if only they could see that.
4.5 stars This is an excellent contemporary sports (baseball) romance. Dylan is the catcher of his team and he helps the pitchers chose the right pitches. He came to the team late so he hasn't connected well. To top it off he has a dysfunctional family that causes more stress. Savannah works with the animal shelters to save as many dogs as she can. She works hard to rehabilitate the dogs and find them a family. She runs into Dylan as she's leaving a shelter. Unfortunately she thinks he's dropping off a dog and gets mad. Her family is a mess as well. Their relationship has ups and downs and some emotional moments. Ms. Ryder did a wonderful job expressing who the characters really were and why they chose the way of life they have. I received a complementary copy of this book and chose to write a review. I look forward to your future books by this author.
This was a new author to me and i loved this book. Loved the passion that was shown not only between Dylan and Savanna but in what they do Dylan with baseball and Savanna with her rescue it makes it so you can connect to the charaters so much better. Being a dog rescuer myself i loved the way this author showed Savanna going through the passion and heartbreak of saving the animals. Loved the way both main characters along this journey learned to open their heart and trust to show the people in their lives that love is so worth it in the end. Will be looking forward to reading more from this author in the future.
** I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book for my honest opinion **
I received an arc of this and am voluntarily reviewing.
I enjoyed Dylan's character a lot. I thought he was fun to read and also could be very tender with Savannah. The sports aspect was also good to read. The main issue I have with this is Savannah's character. She just kind of took me out of the book and the romance. I'm not sure exactly why I didn't like her, but she just wasn't for me. Dylan tried hard to make up for her, but alas she just brought down the score to around a 3.5 for this book.
This is not to say this is a bad book. I thought the writing and plot development was great! While Savannah didn't do it for me, she may very well do it for you. So read and be the judge on whether or not she's a great heroine to Dylan's hero. :)
Book 3 of the Knights in Passion Series. Unfortunately, I missed reading the second one before I ready the third. Although you can read as a stand alone, it helps to read the first two. Dylan is a professional baseball player who only wants to think about his career, no women or dogs. Unfortunately (or not) for him a stray dog has other ideas. When he decides to take it to the pound that’s where he meets Savannah. She’s they type that would rescue every stray dog and one day hopes to do just that. As she makes a deal with Dylan to help him with the dog if he keeps it, Dylan realizes that there may be more to life than baseball. Things heat up for both of them in and out of the bedroom after that. Great sports romance that I would recommend reading.
Dylan, the starting catcher of the Knight's baseball team has a new friend of the canine variety. He doesn't want to be this dog's person so tries to drop the dog off at a rescue site. Unfortunately, Savannah, dog whisperer extraordinaire and the person who runs the rescue, realizes that the dog has already picked her person...and that person is Dylan! Since Dylan has to travel for his job, he makes a deal with Savannah to have her help him with the dog...now the story really gets going!
So many different topics in this book. Fostering and rescuing dogs, family dynamics, goals, interpersonal relationsGhips, understanding yourself, and making dreams come true.
A real heart tugger in spots. I just wanted to sob...NO NOT CARL!! Good quick read.
This truly is a beautifully penned story . Dylan Prosser found something out about Savannah Munroe ,she gets cross at ya when you try to do the right thing . Put a dog in the pound that he found . The dog’s a stray why she treating him this way? He plays baseball ,is a player ? She is more interested and invested in the dogs that she rescues than relationship goals ,she’s still reeling from her falls . This man though he gets under her skin and she doesn’t know where to begin with him while she’s treating the dog Sadie and she lowers her defences in light of the defenceless pooch ,perhaps she might try a little smooch with a player who’s not all bad He’s definitely not a cad ,maybe a little bit sad ? I enjoyed this story ,it’s a bit cute and the characters gel well.
Dylan and Savannah are both dedicated to their jobs; baseball and dogs, respectively, and don’t need anything or anyone else. Why bother, people only use you for what they want, then they leave. But not the loving dogs in this story, they only want to stay faithful forever. Savannah does an admirable job of saving as many dogs as she can, while Dylan only sees them as a commitment he can’t make.
When two worlds collide, it’s game on! Can Dylan take a risk of being used then thrown away? Can Savannah open her heart to someone who will leave? Let this emotional story help you round the bases while everything goes to the dogs.
I liked the first two books in this series, but the heroine put me off this book totally to the extent that it was a DNF. She was a total C U next Tuesday who thought she was too good for everyone else around her. Telling the hero that she would fuck up his job within 5 minutes of meeting him, based on her own stupidity and assumptions, made me hate her and she never got me back. After I'd bypassed all of her point of views for the next few chapters because I couldn't stand her I figured it wasn't worth continuing. People like that need a throat punch, not a HEA.
Sports romances are wonderful but throw in some cute dogs and it goes to the next level of fun. Savannah is all about saving the dogs, Dylan doesn't need one until all of a sudden not only does he rescue a dog but his life is turned upside down and its all the fault of that lady who rescues the dogs.
its a sweet book with believable characters and plenty of romance and feelings. its an easy read and leaves the reader hoping for more of the Knights.
I received an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review for Netgalley and Cocktails and Books.
This is a sweet baseball romance. I love stories about baseball players and dog rescuing is close to my heart, so I enjoyed this story. It is the third book in the Knights of Passion series and each book is a stand-alone.
This story centers on Dylan Prosser, the new catcher for the Georgia Knights. Dylan first meets Savannah Monroe when he reluctantly agrees to foster a pitbull. Since he spends so much time playing baseball and traveling with the team, Savannah offers to help with the dog. Dylan is serious and his sole focus is on baseball. He has recently been traded to the Georgia Knights and is having a difficult time trying to fit in with the guys. His teammates find Dylan hard to get to know and distant.
Savannah Monroe had dedicated her life to rescuing dogs and all her time and money goes into helping dogs and she hopes to someday open her own shelter. Dylan has never met a woman who is as fun and open as Savannah and she intrigues him. She is honest, upfront and and only cares about rescuing dogs.
I enjoyed these two together. Even though Savannah and Dylan are the total opposites, they are good for each other and they help balance each other out. Savannah helps Dylan lighten up and Dylan puts some structure into Savannah’s life. They are each so caught in their own lives they have never made any time for a relationship. Once they meet, they start open up and try to spend time together. There is a strong attraction between them and lots of chemistry. I enjoyed the story and the characters, my only issue with the book, is its slow pace, I wish it had moved a little faster.
