A second chance Hollywood romance from USA Today bestselling author, Lisa Swallow
"I woke this morning expecting to marry the man I loved and ended the day married to somebody else."
Jilted by her fiancé on their wedding day, actress Myf Roberts runs from the situation and takes an unscheduled trip to Vegas with rock band, Blue Phoenix.
The night wasn't supposed to end with her married to Hollywood bad boy, Tate Daniels.
Why did it have to be Tate Daniels? The man Myf knew years ago hasn't changed. He's still the charming bad boy; the player who leaves broken hearts in his wake. Tate's still the man Myf denies has an effect on her that she's never shaken.
Tate is no stranger to scandal and has been warned to keep his nose clean if he wants to keep his lucrative role in the newest network drama. Now he's discovered his fake Vegas wedding isn't so fake after all, and he has one huge problem to fix.
But Myf is the girl who filled Tate's world six years ago. The one who got away. And this time she doesn't get to call the shots.
When she's cast as lead actress opposite her unwanted husband in his new show, Myf can't refuse the career opportunity she's waited for. But can Myf keep the sizzling chemistry between her and Tate onscreen? Or will she surrender and give her heart to the man she swore would never win?

I was insanely excited to read this book. I have missed all the characters from the incredible Blue Phoenix series and was so sad when we had to say goodbye. So when I heard that we would still get to see them (as minor characters) I was biting at the bit to get my hands on this story. This story is about Myf, and if you are a Blue Phoenix fan you will know she is one of Dylan's best friends. She made appearances in most of Dylan's stories, and even though she was only in a few scenes, her presence was HUGE, and she left such an impression. So to say I was excited about her having her own story was an understatement.
Myf (Myfanwy) like the Blue Phoenix boys is from Wales and is an actress. We start her story on her wedding day, which should be the best day of her life, right? Uhh not quite. Cue an absolutely crazy 24 hours, where all the things you never expect to happen on your wedding day, seem to be finding their way into Myf's. From being jilted on your wedding day in a horrendous way, to having an impromptu trip to Vegas with a world famous rock band, to finding yourself actually married on your wedding day.......to a different man!
Unscripted is pure reading joy. It's easy to read, addictive story and characters, at times leg crossing hilarious, and definitely face fanning steamy. The chemistry between Myf and accidental husband Tate is off the walls. Such an enjoyable story with some really clever twists. One thing you will never be while reading this, is bored! I absolutely loved the tv sitcom parts. They were so clever and unique!
Whether you are a fan of Lisa Swallow and her Blue Phoenix books, or a new reader desperate for something exciting and new, Unscripted is definitely for you and 100% recommended!! Can't wait for more Myf and Tate.
**********ARC given for an honest review****************** Lisa is honestly one of my favorite authors. Each book of hers has been well written and I’ve loved each one. This book is no exception. Myf. We only got to know her in snippets in Dylan and Sky’s book. There was the disbelief that she could only have ever been a friend, but in this you understand, and see why that is absolutely truthful. Myf is having a bad few months. Kicking it off is her cheating jerk of a fiancé. Who is catch in the midst of a tryst with none other than the ultimate cliche person! She escapes to Vegas to drown her sorrows and bury the hurt away. While there she runs into Tate, the boy who she had a strong connection with years ago but turned away from because of his reputation. Things definitely get more complicated when they wake up in Vegas after a night the city is legendary for. Tate. I will admit that I didn’t like him very much at all for half the book. He came across as so arrogant and selfish. I have a feeling what he is hiding is why he is this way. I do think he truly cares for Myf, but I think his established selfish side may play a part in some angst and possible screw ups on his part in Spotlight. I’m glad summer is only around the corner because I think Spotlight is going to be a page turner!
“My fiancé lies on the floor, blood from his nose smearing his perfect white shirt. Dylan Morgan stands over him, fist ready to strike again and mouth twisted with anger.”
Myf Robert’s best friend, who we know from the Blue Phoenix books is Dylan Morgan, and he has just laid out Myf’s almost-husband in defence of her honour, the usual clichéd betrayal with a twist. Humiliated and hurt by Miles’ behaviour, Myf ends up in Vegas with her friend and bridesmaid, Audrey, and the rest of the band aiming to keep an eye on her and her intention to drink copious amounts of alcohol.
Epic fail on their part. Instead, she’s hung over, and married!
Tate Daniels is Myf’s former headlining co-star from a previous project some years ago. The chemistry between them was palpable, but it was his ego and flirty behaviour that she didn’t want a bar of, walking away before temptation became too great. Hugely successful and sort after, Tate has weathered the storm of various scandals with a blasé attitude, until an important role comes up for grabs. He’s been told to clean up his image, or miss out. Getting married under questionable circumstances in a Vegas Chapel isn’t really what his PR team had in mind.
Between them, they decided to ignore the marriage, the extreme chemistry between them, and keep it on the down-low. No problem, until Myf lands the role of a lifetime, as the love interest of Tate’s character, in his new TV Series. Now it is really important to keep their secret. However, Tate seems to be putting much more effort into spending time with Myf than he really needs to with his co-star...
“I want you in my life. I won’t walk away.” “I don’t want you to walk away this time.”
...and what can I say. There’s more to Tate and Myf than is possible in one book, and their story will continue in Spotlight, due out soon, which I absolutely can’t wait for! Lisa Swallow’s books are always a guaranteed great read, so I cannot stress enough that this is a book you have to read. ARC recieved in exchange for an honest review. 5 STARS-ALWAYS!
** I received an advanced copy and chose to review it** *100% spoiler-free review*
I absolutely adored Lisa Swallow's Blue Phoenix series and was so excited to find out she was writing a spin-off starring Myf, Dylan's best friend! Unscripted is a standalone story and prior reading of Blue Phoenix is not necessary at all (but it was a great series so you should definitely check it out and fans who have read the series will definitely enjoy catching up with the band!). It's an emotional, fun and sexy second-chance romance with a slow-burn lead up. The characters are charismatic and fun and there are definite sparks between them. As their story line heats up, readers will feel the chemistry right along with them. Both Myf and Tate are actors and I loved how Swallow delved into their characters' story on the tv show they star on and how Myf switched back and forth between her character's POV. There are lots of secrets and all are revealed before the story ends. And end it does.....on a cliffhanger! I had a feeling it was coming as I noted how much was left in the book towards the end but nonetheless I was not prepared for it. However luckily we do not need to wait for long for the next book which comes out in July 2017. Overall, the book is very well written and progresses at the perfect pace which is something that I've come to expect from Lisa Swallow. She always allows the story to progress naturally so the reader is able to savor it. It's one of the things I truly love about her books. Grab this amazing story and enjoy every minute of it!
Lisa Swallow has once again captured my interest as well as my heart with her newest release Unscripted. This a new start to an entirely new world, Lisa has created with a minor character from her Blue Phoenix Series. As a fan of her work, I was excited for this release and could not put it down, as I had to know what would happen next. This book can absolutely be read on its own. The best part about it is there will be more of these amazing characters in the future, as it a part of a duet.
Myf Roberts wakes up on her wedding day and finds her plans are no longer a viable option. Instead of dealing with the fall out, she heads to Los Vegas with her friends to lick her wounds and try to salvage her day. The last thing she expects to do is to wake up next the next morning married to another man. She's not just married to a stranger. She married Hollywood bad boy, Tate Daniels. He is someone Myf knew well years ago, but his ego and image are something she kept clear of.
Tate has been trying to change his image, so that he can land a leading role of his dreams, and suddenly he finds this "fake marriage" is indeed very real. If he can convince Myf to keep this under wraps, he may get more than he could ever imagine!
Lisa Swallow worked her magic in Unscripted. She wove intricate story lines from the past to the present. She made me feel a range of emotions as I read thos fantastic story. I can't wait to read more about Myf and Tate!
This is a spin off of the Blue Phoenix series and available on Kindle Unlimited. This is Myf's story who is Dylan best friend from that series. The writing is excellent as always and this is part one of two. Its told totally from Myf's pov. This review contains mild spoilers.
Myf was left at the alter when Dylan catch's the groom to be with another man. She is devastated and heads to Vegas to get wasted enough to not remember. Well, she gets so wasted she doesn't remember marrying Tate. Tate is Hollywoods latest heart throb who she went to drama school with 6 years ago. For Tate she is the girl that got away. For her, she didn't want to be another notch on his bedpost.
Tate's agent needs him to clean up his act so he talks her into staying married for a few months but keeping it a secret. During this time she is cast to play opposite him in a new tv series. This forces them together so he can win her over. She isn't very trusting after what happened to her and after some drama with an old girlfriend of his agrees to give things between them a try. During the shows winter break they head back to Wales for some down time but when they land the media knows about the wedding. They are thrust into the limelight and will now be forced to deal with their relationship going public in the next book.
Received an ARC for my fair review. I have to admit that this is my first book from the author, however will not be my last, one thing I noticed is that I read out of order. This is Myf Roberts story, she catches her fiance cheating on their on what would have been their wedding day . So she decides to go to Vegas along with her friends to cope with it. The last thing she expected was to actually get married after all. She ends up married to Tate, a guy from college who she was attracted to, but did not act on it, because of his reputation. Now he is a hollywood bad boy and they decide to keep marriage a secret, both have their reasons. Enjoyed and looking forward to catching up on series.
Myfawnny or Myfawnny for short finds her wedding day in ruins. A trip to Vegas was suppose to help her forget. She wakes after an all night binge to find Tate, the one man she could never allow herself to be involved with. Then he reveals they got married. Her acting career takes off but she is the leading role to Tate. She can continue to deny her feelings and beg for the divorce or give in to the emotions that have always been just beneath the surface.
Myf Roberts catches her finance cheating on her on their wedding day . So she decides to go to Vegas to get over it . Little did she suspect that she would wake up married after all . She ends up married to the guy she knew in college . Who happens to be Hollywood bad boy Tate Daniels . The is one that will have going through a wide range of emotions . Loved it and loving forward to more in the series . Definitely one you will want to pick up
I love this author from Dylan and Sky's story. Even though, I couldn't get into the other character's books, I still read them. I discovered I just wanted to know how it was going with Dylan and Sky, so I did not really do the other books in the series any justice. Tate and Myf though intrigue me. The book dragged some in the beginning but picked up at about 70%. Hollywood bad boys are fun to read about. Tate especially, I think really shaped up pretty fast. There was no cheating per se. The second book should be interesting.
This book is Unscripted written by Lisa Swallow. This is such a great book. My only complaint is that we end on a cliffhanger. BUT that means we get another ENTIRE book about our young stars Myf and Tate! Squeak!! The dynamic between Tate and Myf is electric, add to that their starring roles opposite each other and you get this amazing book!! I can't wait for the next book!! I received a complimentary advance readers copy and voluntarily chose to leave this review.
Good story, enjoyed the ups and downs with Myf and Tate
I chose 3 stars because I had some trouble getting into the story simply because of the British and style is writing. There was a lot of angst and drama. I felt Myf was overly critical of Tate in many instances which pulled my attention from the story. This is my first book in the Blue Phoenix world, and I'm going the follow-up, Spotlight, will bring this into better focus for me. I really enjoy this author!
**ARC received in return for an honest review** I loved this book, and couldn't put it down once I had started! I have read all of Lisa's books and I love her style of writing. This one is no different. A slow burn to begin that heats up and leaves you wanting more. I am so glad there is a follow-up coming soon as I need to know more about Myf and Tate's relationship. It really is an addictive read and although I tried to pace myself, I finished it very quickly. Highly recommended.
Hot, sexy, sweet...a fantastic second chance romance.
This was the first time I've read this author. I am ready to binge read everything now. I loved this book. I love second chances, Hollywood settings and characters, and drunken marriages in Vegas; at least those that involve a couple like Tate & Myf. This book ticked all sorts of boxes for me. Definitely worth your time to check out!
Ditched at the alter, trip to Vegas, waking up finding out you are married to a guy you knew in college. Problem he is a celebrity. N oh w the problems start trying to hide the marriage while working together on a new tv program. Hmm what fun! Can't wait until the next book!!
I absolutely LOVED this book! I loved the characetrs of Tate and Myf. It was really nice to see the Blue Phoenix boys at the beginning of the book but then have them leave and let the book really be Myf's. I was hooked from the first page to the last and cannot wait for the next book.
Just finished unscripted, could not it down. I loved myf and Tate,s story. I was hooked from the start, can't wait for book 2 . I would highly recommend this book to others.
The premise was interesting and the execution well done, however, there's a disconnect between what the heroine does, what she thinks of herself and what others think of her. I found her a bit tedious at times. Be warned this one ends in a cliffhanger.
I liked it, but I was mad that there was no indication that this book ended on a cliff hanger and is part of an on-going series. Add to the fact that the book ended in a place that felt odd to me, and I was annoyed.
There was so much going on in this book and it seemed to have too many little twists and tons of unnecessary drama. Will not even be looking into the next book of the series.
It is a cliff hanger but I loved the way it was written with more focus on the heroine. She had been hurt and she worries about what people will say. Though at times I thought she shouldn’t. A good read.
A wedding that doesn't turn out as planned, and another that happens in the aftermath of the debacle. Emotions run high as the real and stage personae fight their attraction to each other.
I really tried to get into this book. I was intrigued when I read the books description on BookBub. However, I felt the two main characters lacked chemistry.
