T.F. Walsh - Demon's Mark (Hell Unleashed #2)

As a half-demon, Cary has survived a lot… but this love thing might be her undoing.

Levi Walker, master demon hunter, is on a mission to find the demon bastard who slayed his best friend. As he finally tracks down the beast, he’s suddenly distracted by the newest Argos recruit - the sexy vixen who also broke his heart - and the battle takes a deadly turn. Now with the recruit in the beast’s sights, both she and Levi are instantly marked for death.

If Cary Stone’s secret is revealed (she's a demon half-breed, after all), she'll be thrown straight into Hell. After a lifetime following her father’s advice - never let anyone get close, never stay too long in one city, and ALWAYS work alone - in the past year she’s broken all the rules.

Not only did she get a job-hunting demons, she also fell in love with the most bad-ass hunter of them all. Oh and, if things weren’t interesting enough, she managed to grab the top spot on the hit list of the biggest mercenary in Hell. Yeah, shit just got real.

Monica Corwin - A Little Dead

A detective, down on his luck, thinks he has the path back to his career… but something a little dead isn’t done with him yet.

J.L. Weil - Blood, Love & Magick

Life’s a witch!

Aurora is the heir to her coven and as the next priestess it is her responsibility to keep the treaty between vampires and witches. What she didn’t factor into the equation was falling for the enemy. If anyone finds out who Aurora is meeting in the shadows, her life and her coven will be in jeopardy. Now that she has everything she ever wanted, Aurora has everything to lose.

J.T. Williams - Arrowfall (Saints Of Wura #0.5)

The elves face genocide and their salvation rests in the hands of a few brave souls. The dead are everywhere. The elves and dwarves have been beaten down and now make a last flight to the safety of a hidden city in the far north.

Berie is a young elf. She is fearful of those that hunt them but also deadly with her bow. This is her first true test in the turbulent and darkening life. She must stay strong!

This flight to a hidden city is their last hope in a world where all wish them dead. But the greatest danger is not from men but within their own ranks... among those Berie would call brothers...

J.A. Culican - The Golden Dragon (The Keeper Of Dragons #1.5)

D.S. Murphy AKA Derek Murphy - Orpheum (Orpheum #1)

I always knew music was powerful. Even though I rebelled against the marathon forced practice sessions that turned my adolescence into a prison camp, there were moments - even in the mechanical repetition of practice - where I stopped being a robot and felt a kind of transcendence, a connection to something deeper.

But that was before I learned what music really was, and that it was capable of more than just pretty feelings. That it was a weapon, which could cause great pain and destruction; that it was deeper and older than humanity; and that there were forces in the world that wanted to reclaim it for themselves.

And there's something beyond the music, something darker and more violent. Something waiting to be invited, something only I can control. I'm more powerful than I ever could have imagined, but the price is something - and someone - I can't bear to lose.

Muffy Wilson - The Para-Portage Of Emily

Emily Macque, a young, beautiful junior partner in her father’s law firm, is but a heartbeat away from love or destiny. Duty brings Emily to a frozen Island estate two-hundred and fifty miles north of Chicago. Devotion requires she delve into the property history to settle an estate probate. Death lures her into the arms of the shadows seduction created by the flickering light and dark shadows.

What flames the timeless passions spanning the decades? Love, desire or obsession?

Shade And The Den of Lost Souls (Shade Series, #2 1/2), my third short read from author Marilyn Peake. Enjoyable, tightly woven & well-written positioned between books #2 & #3, back-filling an earlier time in Shades life.. “I received a free Kindle copy of this book and I'm voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. Now I need to read Shade and the Skinwalkers (Book 2 in Series). (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

Most of the stories included this compendium are amateurish at best, and at worst are stereotypical, formulaic, and repetitive girl porn; what rudiments of plot exist merely as an excuse for the interactions of gendered body parts. Most of these authors seem to believe that 'romance' means sex. Of the novella/novel length offerings, Muffy Wilson's "The Para-Portage of Emily" was probably the worst, least paranormal, paranormal 'romance' I've ever read. T.F Walsh's "Demon's Mark" wasn't bad; I'd probably read more of the series if it were available cheap. Leilani Love's "Violca's Dragon" was interesting; again I'd read more of the series. None of the others were memorable in any way but for one hidden gem amongst the drek: D.S. Murphy's "Orpheum." The author knows history, mythology, philosophy, and music, and weaves them all together in a fascinating tapestry of mystery and suspense, with just enough romance and friendship to add depth and color to the characters. This story is the only reason I'm writing this review. Without it the collection would rate one star or less. If 'girl-porn' is your thing, grab this, but for worthwhile fiction, read "Orpheum" and skip the rest.

Great collection!

This has something for almost everyone who likes paranormal romance. The sex scenes are hot. The romance is sweet. All in all, it's an amazing set.

Some of these books are just plain terrible, while others are amazing. It's a good way to find new fave authors and ones you will definitely steer clear from!

PNR & UF box set, need I say more?!?

I have only had the chance to read one of these books so far, but I guarantee I will be checking them all out as soon as I can!

Demon’s Mark by T.F. Walsh

WOW! What a DEMONTACULAR book!! Once again T.F. Walsh has yanked me out of the "real" world and CARY'D me into this LEVILICIOUSLY new World of hers! Like a demon possessed, errr.. like I was possessed by a demon, I kept on reading and reading until there wasn't anything left to read!! I know that there is no possible way I can come even close to explaining just how much I love this book, just how powerful & magical & FAN-FANGING-TASTIC it is, so I won't bother! I WILL say that this will blow your mind with its originality, uniqueness & by just how enthralling it is! Once I started it, I couldn't stop until I had finished it! My nerves were on edge for the last half, all jumbled up emotionally, but I wouldn't change that for ANYTHING!!! With her lush & expertly detailed descriptions, T.F. has the story exploding to life in my mind’s eye! Her complex, likeable and loveable characters are ones I love getting to know, that I care about, that I want to know more about and that I love, Love, LOVE sharing this moment in their lives with and ones that I don't ever want to step back from! So much so that I don't EVER want their story to end! Thankfully at the end of this story, T.F. has a note that says to watch for book 2! WHOOOT!!!! I CANNOT WAIT!!!

Partial Review

I will be writing this as I read, adding to it after I finish each novel.

Demon's Mark - T.F. Walsh ****
The Hell Unleashed Series, #1 PNR
Never read a Walsh book before, but I enjoyed this one. It's a story about two bounty hunters who work for the mysterious (and slightly sinister) Argos corporation, hunting down rogue demons and sending them back to Hell. Cary Stone is half-demon bounty hunter working for an organization that wants to send all demons back to Hell. Her partner, Levi, lost his best friend in a demon attack years ago and has hated them with a passion ever since. Cary has to work to hide her identity and heritage from Levi and Argos. Seems she broke her cardinal rule of never getting involved by falling hard for the baddest hunter around. Add in a nasty demon mark putting her on Hell's hit list, shady motives on the part of her employer and you're in for crazy ride.
I would read the next one.

On a Red Horse - Monica Corwin ***
Revelations Series, #1 PNR
This story follows Scarlet, the Horse(wo)man who embodies War in her attempt to live a normal-ish life with the other Riders of the Apocalypse in New York City. Where else, right? She's living a rather boring life, working as a telemarketer no less, until her husband, Tyr, shows up on Earth wanting to know just why she up and left him and their marriage in the middle of the night 3 years ago. The answer to Tyr's question involves a rather wacky and convoluted ride involving a prophecy from Revelations, the Ragnarok, a surly Greek deity and several rather selfish and sadistic Norse deities. The mixing of different religious mythologies into something almost unrecognizable didn't appeal to me at all, but the second-chance love story between Scarlet and Tyr was well done.
I won't be reading the next one.

White Raven - J.L. Weil
A Raven Novel, #1 YA
DNF: I'm extremely picky about which young adult novels I read for the very reason that I couldn't make myself read all of this book. The narrator is spoiled, selfish, whiny and completely unlikeable. Piper reads like a caricature of a self-centered teenage girl, and I mostly just wanted to reach into my Kindle and slap her face off.
No thank you.

Feral - Laxmi Hariharan
A Many Lives Story UF
This is a short story that serves as an introduction to a fascinating dystopian world populated with shapeshifters, hybrids, and humans. I should have started with the "Many Lives of Ruby Iyer" instead of this book, since there is one very important detail relevant to Ruby's story revealed... Major spoiler! Reminded me a bit of Nalini Singh's psy-changelings world, but Laxmi's work stands on its own merit.
I will be reading more from her.

Not your average tale

There are all kinds of stories in this edition, every manor of creature represented. Some books are part of ongoing series and others are standalone. Quite an interesting read.

Some Great Stories

I really liked the two books by Marilyn Peake and H. J. Lawsen.
The rest were okay. I'm sure other readers will like different books than I did. There is something for everyone in this collection.
