A young woman named Meg takes a job managing a big, old hotel. She is drawn to the position because the hotel is in the town where her late mother grew up. People in the town are also aware of Meg's connection with the past, and Meg soon starts uncovering secrets that put her life in danger.
An average read. Not as bad as some gothics I have read. Meg has a job, which helps, and the town has some interesting characters. Also, I am always pleased when some passages in the book take place without the heroine being present, as it adds variety to read accounts from different viewpoints. The book doesn't have a big "reveal" at it's climax because the villains of the story are made clear throughout the book...but it does leave one very specific mystery unexplained. Maybe the Ghost River Inn really was haunted?
