The Beginning

Rate this book
Kindra wants something new, but she’s afraid of what will happen if she lets go completely. Her twin sister is out in the world and yet she feels like something is still missing while visiting Heather in Laramie Wyoming. This place is a collage town, plain and simple and Kindra doesn’t know why she thought going there would change things. And when the imprint pulsed through Kindra’s body connecting her to a sexy werewolf, things change. Kindra doesn’t know if she should stay or if she should run for the hills.

All Judden wants is to lead his own pack of wolves. There is this need deep inside to lead but his older brother, Brad doesn’t think Judden is ready to be out on his own. Brad’s convinced him to finish his degree at the University of Wyoming but once that’s done all bets are off… well that was the plan until Judden imprinted with Kindra. She is sexy as hell and there’s no way he’s letting her out of his sights. Problems from the past are starting to creep up as the Casper Pack gains a new leader.

Will Kindra and Judden find a way to make things work? Find out in Imprinted-The Beginning.

This book is another one that is challenging to review...

I came across this book through social media. Some of the authors I already read/follow (translaste: stalk!) seem to be in her network.
When I read the blurb for her Imprinted series I wanted to read more and I bought the first three right off the bat - figuring it was up my alley.

The thing is: it is and it isn't.
It's paranormal, werewolves. Werewolves imprinting on humans ... and a couple of college girls that I can relate to ... it's presented in a believable sort of way... the humans and werewolves coexist. Humans are aware of werewolves, whether or not they are fully accepting of them... much like we can truly be with other races / cultures - anyone we view as different. So it works.... but then... at times it doesn't.

There's romance... it gets heated... the sex scenes could be really hot. The author does a great job of getting across how much Kindra & Judden want each other - I can almost feel their desire. At times I can really get into and almost feel their love for each other... but then other times it gets cheesy. Or parts of the sex scenes will be presented as if written by someone whose first language isn't English. I'm not knocking English as a second, so forth language at alL! It's just that the broken English coming out in the middle of a sex scene can do a lot to tone the heat down... especially when I have to re-read it multiple times to figure out what she's trying to make the reader picture.

Also over-use of the same words .... this series reads as if it's unedited, but I see an editor credited so... I'm confused. An editor should watch for overused words so when the same sex scene goes on and on about 'heat' with no word variation, it just looks like a rough draft that shouldn't have gone to press.

So there's that - the sex scenes could be made hotter by editing for punctuation, proper use of words, over-use of words and cheese factor.
However - there is so much more to this story than sex!!

I get really into it, I want to know the characters better and I want to see how their dilemma with Seth plays out... it gets dramatic and has the potential to be action-y in the books that follow - and that is on top of the intrigue, sex and romance that we already have healthy doses of!
This author clearly can write! Her imagination must be a really fascinating place!

Her descriptives are well done also - however the vast lack of punctuation and poor grammar made me cringe. A lot. It also made me re-read and re-read the same content over and over again... a lot... because when punctuation is wrong or missing, something can have multiple meanings.. I'd have to go back and stop to contemplate what she meant at times, due to the lack of editing... that is frustrating. I just want to be able to read a book, get all into it and have an escape from reality for a while. I don't wanna have to work for it.

So -
Overall - the story is for me, 4 stars. I like it.. I like it a lot, actually.
But the way the book is presented, is more like 1-2 stars.
Independently published books that lack editing and professionalism are what makes the whole indie community look bad, so I just cannot get behind it at all, unfortunately. It contributes to that "everyone is a writer" mentality that some of the masses seem to have and think unfavorably of.

I decided to split the different and call the overall rating 3 stars. Amazon calls this "it's okay".

I feel like this book could be a 4/5 star book - if it were edited and re-published.
As it stands, 3 stars.

I'm not sure if I'll venture into the author's other books. I'd love to because I'm hooked into this saga, but at the same time, deciphering what she means and getting hung up on the errors is work... and reading should not be work.
Probably what I'll do is hold off for now, and hope they get edited and updated...

In Imprint: the Beginning by McKayla Schutt, Kindra is visiting her sister at college when she runs into Judden quite literally. In this book humans know about werewolves and are slowly coming to terms with the fact that they exists.

Kindra has never met a real werewolf before so imagine her surprise when she imprints with one. That’s right, Judden is a werewolf.

This book really takes time to explain what an imprint is. You learn the ins and out of what it means to be imprinted and what happens next.

I love how the characters were drawn to each other before the imprint and how their relationship only grew the more they were together.

It was also cute how Kindra’s sister also imprinted.

Be aware, this is a short novella length book that is part of a series. The story continues into the next books in the series.

Kelly is just looking for a good time. She finds that with Judden and a whole lot more! It was supposed to be a fling, but suddenly Kelly finds herself bonded to a werewolf. Now she must make the choice to stay with him and be in danger from the war between his pack and another, or return home to California without him.

This was a fun and fast story. Don't expect too much depth, but there are a lot of hot scenes and ripped clothing! It gives us a peek into a world where the supernatural has recently come out of the closet. Yet there still are pack politics and deadly wars. The concept of imprinting can be exciting and a bit scary. A good start to the series.

I know this is part 1 but this is a very short story and although it's interesting, making it longer would have given it much more depth, there wasn't time for the characters to develop and I didn't feel any real chemistry between them, as such it felt rushed.
That said, the concept of everyone knowing about shifters is a good one as is the direction the story is going so if you're looking for a quick read that isn't too taxing then you'll enjoy this one.

Fast and to the point

I really loved the pace of this book. It's a fascinating world these two sisters live in where werewolves are normal to run into. To me it was like they just saw them as another race of people that inhabited the world. I loved that the love that they shared came about in just a moment. I can't wait to read what happens next as their adventure as mates takes off to and unknown future.

This was a great read. I was a bit confused at first but quickly got past why regular people knew about werewolves. Think this just confused me since in most other shifter books they keep themselves hidden at all costs. It was a great story so far and I can't wait to read the rest and find out how the twins deal with the rest of what is coming at them.

A little short but a great story. I love the idea of imprinting and sometimes I think it truly happens in humans lives. I don't know if I believe werewolves are involved but some humans get married and feel sick when separated from their significant other. I think it is close to the same thing. They usually stay married til death. So yeah, I feel like it happens.

Imprinted

Nice short story about wolves and the women they imprinted on. Kendra and Heather are twin sisters that have been imprinted on by two werewolves name Judden and Matt. Now they have the choice to become werewolves or stay human.

Though this isn't my normal genre, I truly enjoyed this book. It progressed fairly quick with Kindra and Judden, as well as Heather and Matt, but with the girls being twins, it threw a twist into the story. Can't wait to read the next one.

Kindra lost her Job and decides to visit her sister at college to just kick back , party and have fun , but what she finds is her True mate and she has to decide if she wants to stay single or Become Imprinted on forever ?
I loved the build up of the story between Kindra and Judden. Who doesn't like a Good paranormal where the chase is on and it's supper HOT.
The author gave them loads of chemistry and storyline in such a short amount of time .I will read more of this series , but I wish it was one whole book and not in parts

I was really disappointed with this book. I signed up to the newsletters and love the writing style which inspired me to get this book but the whole thing felt kinda rushed. It was too idealistic, things moved too quickly and at the same time nothing really happened. There was no real tension there and i just didn't connect with the story or the characters. I can see this is the set up of the story for the series but it wasn't really enough to grip me to read the rest of the story.
I'm not sure if this is just this story as I know the author is very talented with her words and writing style and I was really looking forward to this story but over all I was left wanting

Imprinted: The Beginning by McKayla Schutt is part one of this amazing series. Kindra is on a mission to have fun. After losing jib after job and realizing she is missing something in her life, she takes off to visit her twin sister, Heather, at college. All she wanted was a little fun. She never imagined running into a werewolf.
Judden just wants out from under his brother’s shadow. When he ran into Kindra he invites her back to his house for a party, he never expected to imprint with her. Now Kindra must decide if she will stay with Judden or go back to California.
This story is amazing, so much packed into such a short story. I fell in love with Kindra and Judden so fast, I cannot wait to read more of their love story.

Imprinting/bonding

The bond between sisters, especially twins might get tested when Kindra accidentally bonds with Judden, a werewolf. What will happen to her sister and will they be safe from the pack war? This is an excellent short story. Leaves off in a cliffhanger but definitely worth reading.

A great read! I thoroughly enjoyed how the story was able to move forward and yet take the time to explore the instant connection between werewolves and their mates. It made the characters all the more compelling. I am looking forward to book 2! I recommend this book to all folks who love them some werewolves.

Wow loved this book! I have read books by this author and was not disappointed with this one. True to her style of writing the author added plenty of action and hot shifters with some steamy scenes. This series is a must read for anyone that likes shifters. Can't wait to start the next book in the series.

This was a quick short Paranormal read about twin sisters and the wolves they imprinted on. It was a good fast-paced story with everything happening right away. It should be noted that this book ends in a Cliff-Hanger.
