ADELAIDE BECKER has one goal: rescue her father from his enemies and certain death. In a desperate bid to save the father she just met, she puts her faith in the one person she shouldn’t, Daxon Aluxni, an Ayezhni with his own agenda. What she doesn’t anticipate is being drawn to the very people she holds responsible for her father’s capture, her family’s breakup, and the exploitation of Earthborn like her.

BROCK GRIGNI figures Addy will throttle him for disregarding her wishes, but he follows her to Ayezh. While he knows she’s powerful, she isn’t invincible or truly aware of the danger surrounding her, and he wants to be by her side. Used to being as unemotional as any Ayezhni, the strength of his love for Addy surprises him. Unfortunately, along with the good comes the bad, and he struggles with unfamiliar feelings: jealousy, anger, inadequacy, and pain.

Facing almost insurmountable odds, Addy must fight for everything she holds dear. If she fails, not only will she lose Brock and her father, but also the freedom of her fellow Earthborn.

With two planets depending on her, can Addy do what it takes?

Following directly on from the closing scenes of Earthborn, Addie is on her way to Ayezh with Daxon. Unbeknownst to her Brock and Trig are hot on her heels, despite her instruction to the contrary. Forced into the spotlight of an unknown world will she be be able to keep to her mission to rescue Abram? What are Daxon’s true intentions? Will she be welcomed with open arms by her long lost family?

If Earthborn was the scene setter, Verseborn is the payoff. It’s a well woven tale of protocol, betrayal, daring rescue attempts and of course all topped off with Addie’s trademark snark. Her struggles with fitting into a society where despite her lofty title she is little more than a half breed, or Verseborn, are immense. Revered and reviled in equal measures she holds great power but she is also seen as little more as the next greatest breeding machine to the family that will bring her grandfather most honour. Daxon appears to be her unlikely saviour but can he be trusted to be doing anything more than securing his family’s greatness? Ancient family rifts run high and Addie is left spinning with both who she should trust and how she can also factor in her father’s potential rescue. Brock who is used to being classed as Elite, the best of the military on Earth, now finds himself struggling to be classed as even mediocre against the pure Ayezhni. For the first time in his life he is faced with crippling self doubt, realising that he has nothing to bring to the table when it comes to being an acceptable suitor for Addie. Is love simply enough?

I have to say that I loved this book. The pace has little in the way of let up and the final set piece is nothing short of epic. The story will have your heart breaking for both Addie and Brock in different ways, especially when Addie’s full potential is realised in the most cataclysmic way. I could have kept on reading, but then I suppose I would have had the opportunity to be excited for book 3!

Since it took me a while to read the sequel, I was slightly lost if what was going on. I'm #TeamDaxon. I found Brock annoying, clinging and just pathetic as he finally finds his human side. I'm I slightly heartless? Perhaps. I feel bad for Addy, the co flirt she is struggling with. I want to know why her connection with Brock is muted. Was it because she stole his energy? Would be awesome if she turned the villain. Have to wait until book 3, I suppose, to find out!

An awesome action packed and kick ass sequel. Despite being on an alien planet there are some similarities to humans in terms of class structure and some of their ways is a bit archaic, but very interesting background and world building. I love it! Addy is strong willed and stubborn, which got annoying at times but I love her passion. Ack! So good!

This is turning out to be such a wonderful and poignant story, not only about aliens having children with humans, but about prejudice and bigotry and how Addy shows others, even on her father's home world of Ayezh. The things she learns disgusts her and angers her to her core. But these are some of the reasons her father and the others that left Ayesh rebelled.

And in the middle of all of this unrest, she meets Daxon who she never should have trusted, because he has secrets of his own. But he has a sense of humor and a strength the she needs to get through all of the turmoil ahead. Every direction she turns, she finds out something new about her alien half and about who she was meant to be while facing danger from those who are willing to do anything to gain the power she posses. And Brock is ready to follow her wherever she goes, even if being around her opens him to emotions he's never experienced before. He's a tough strong warrior, but he has a sweet vulnerability that may cause more problems the more he discovers what's left of his human side.

This has been such a fascinating and exiting adventure. It is not only well written, but it was practically impossible to put down. Her heroine is brilliant beyond her years. Her heroes are not just amazing but sensitive in ways we don't expect. Not only are the locations colorful, but the characters are too. Just when you think you have someone figured out, she throws in an unexpected twist that enriches the story in so many ways. I found myself invested in these characters' lives. I loved it, and I look forward to more in the series.

I loved the first of this series, Earthborn, and couldn't wait to see what happened! This book does not disappoint! Verseborn did not disappoint! I think I may have like it even more than the first book! In Earthborn, Adelaide (Addy), age 17, makes a shocking discovery about her heritage and long lost father. Brock, a broody hunkish collector intercepts Addy. There is instant friction and chemistry between the two. In Verseborn, Addy must find a way to save her father from a death sentence. Brock follows Addy and complications ensue. This is definitely a 5* read!
