Another fun and exciting adventure of Carlita, Mercedes, and Tony in their new life in Savannah. Running a pawn shop is not for the weak of heart and when merchandise proves to be stolen goods it is left up to the family to seek out answers. Hope Callaghan writes in such a way that it is a fun story with interesting and lively characters that you can just picture.

Casing the joint

Carlos and Mercedes are hoping to catch the thieves that have targeted the Savannah Swag Pawn Shop. Plenty of sneaking around and finding clues in this addition a the Savannah series. Great characters and a smooth read.

I enjoyed the story line of thefts in an area with pawn stores unknowingly picking up the merchandise and someone coming in claiming it was their's and threatening to go to the police and media about the pawn-stores purchasing stolen goods knowing it wouldn't be good for business. Luckily, Tony does not believe it a second time (read the story about what happens in the first threat) and calls the police himself. An interesting and intriguing story that you will surely enjoy!
My issue, which is why I gave it 3 stars and while the story is a great read, is that it seems like this book was either written first or not edited properly. If you have read the entire series thus far you will notice some errors in this story that do not add up to what we have previously read.

Such as:
In the previous book the business name for the pawnshop was Savannah Swag, then throughout this book it switched back and forth between Savannah Swag and Swag in Savannah. I know it is being nit-picky on my end, but consistency is nice when reading.
Another thing was these people going straight to Carlita when Annie the real estate agent is the one who is giving out the applications and listing the apartments. Word of mouth on one of the possible tenants is understandable, but when the one shows up and gives her cash to put down is sketchy at best and strange considering how did that person know (although once you get into the story it does become clear) but it still makes you wonder.
Also, it mentions Betty Graybill being president of the SAS, but how is that possible when she was put in jail in book 2?
There is just a lot of information that seems to have been overlooked and not considered when it was edited. But like I said, this may have been written before the first book was released and then was added on as the 5th in the series.

But do not knock the story until you read it as you will thoroughly enjoy it!!

Trouble in Savannah is the fifth book in Hope Callaghan’s Made in Savannah Cozy Mystery series and is a wonderful, clean cozy mystery which doesn’t contain any gratuitous sex, violence, or foul language book. Ms. Callaghan has written a well thought out and interesting mystery, with a good story line, relatable characters, and lots of humor. The writing style flows smoothly and this is an easy read. I love the Savannah setting, seeing Carlita and her family making friends, making a fresh start and adjusting to their new lives. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a well-crafted cozy mystery.

Carlita, Tony, and Mercedes are pleased that their newly opened pawnshop, Swag in Savannah, is getting lots of customers and are hopeful their business venture will be a success. Carlita is disappointed that her oldest son, Vinnie Jr., has returned to New York, is actively looking for a tenant for the apartment she’d hoped he would move into, and is busy planning a dinner party for her new friends, tenants, and Walton Square neighbors and business owners. When a customer comes in claiming he sees items for sale that were stolen from his home, the Garlucci family is devastated and when the same thing happens again, Tony begins to question his ability to run the pawnshop.

Open for Business

I loved this book. I am enjoying the books so much that I just purchased the whole series. Carlita and her kids have opened their pawn shop and business was going well. She rented out the remaining apartment when her other son said he wasn't moving to Savannaah. Then they started having people coming in claiming ghat the store had goods which had been stolen from them during home robberies. It was a little suspicious, so the family got the police involved. Apparently it was also happening to the city's other pawn shop. The family had to try and solve it themselves as well.

Fantastic read!

What a fantastic book! Great mystery that moves at a good pace with no lulls at all. I’m enjoying the new chapter in the lives of the Garlucci family. Full of ups and downs, a cast of many interesting characters, mysteries, new adventures and full of family.
The author writes so well that the annoying neighbor really does annoy me as much as she does Carlita and Mercedes haha. But yet I find her intriguing too.
Very well written book/series. I’m exciting to continue on with the Savannah series!

Savannah is the best city

Love this Savannah Georgia mystery series. Carlita and her son and daughter are the best. Their new Pawn Shop seems to be picking up but then is robbed and used by scam artists. This makes Carlita mad and the three of them do not stop until the culprits are caught.

This is book five but the first I've read of this series. I thought I got along pretty well without having read the other books although I do now want to read the rest. I love her other series so I had to check this out as well. Mystery of the stolen goods. I like this series based on this book and will be reading more.

Inventory and thieves.

The pawn shop is doing good, but suddenly the inventory is screwed up and people are saying that part of their merchandise was stolen from them. The family is trying to solve the problems while Carlita plans their first dinner party and learns to drive at the same time. Another good cozy mystery with wacky and intriguing characters.

I couldn't get through the second chapter. All the characters seem like cliches and are not well thought out. For instance, at one point, Carlita needs to show her friend Reese where her bathroom is, even though Reese must visit her often because she commented that she hasn't seen Carlita's neighbor outside lately. Just one example of many.

Carlotta and la familia are great.

I love that in this series that some of the stories have intrigue instead of murder. This was a great story. They had a bunch of robberies which they needed to figure out.

Intriguing

Loved this easy reading and a bit of suspense too. The mystery kept the story interesting. I also kept thinking that Carlita was so busy with the sleuthing that I wondered how she would have time to prepare for the party.

Pawnshop

Another winner. Pawnshop was full of suspense and I had to keep reading to find out who the culprit was. It was not whom I believed it to be. On to the next adventure. Not sure what I will do once I read the whole series.

Page turner..No surprise there. The story's flow is consistent with all of the others by Hope Callaghan.

Left me wanting more! I hope the saga continues. The series is clean reading that lacks nothing in the genre of intrigue, mystery and suspense.
