For the Strength of the pack is the Wolf, and the strength of the wolf is the pack.

photo wolf_zpswb4fvo9n.gif

Well i'm not beating around the bush, Wolf/Erik is amazingly hot. I mean panty melting, weak at the knees hot!! Add in the turnout gear and he's just heavenly.

When Olivia/Livvie and Wolf first bump into each other sparks fly. The straight laced conservative Livvie had just had another horrific date and is feeling a little down on herself. Then when the gorgeous 'Paul Bunyan' sized man offers her one night of unadulterated pleasure with no strings, something she would normally not think twice before rejecting politely but not this night . She accepts and what a night it ends up being.

He shrugged out of the suspenders attached to his bunker pants and let them fall to hang at the sides of his legs. Then he started pulling his shirt up and out................Sweet baby jesus. No one with a body like that should ever be allowed to cover it up.

photo firemanstripping_zpskw5sz625.gif

Wolf is a war vet suffering from PTSD and is forced to take psychiatric evaluations to prove he is mentally sound enough for work at the firehouse which is his life. When he walks in for his first appointment .......................things happen.

This was a really sweet read maybe a little too sweet for my liking, but when it's funny as well it's not so bad.

If you enjoy your romances straight laced, super sweet with no hidden twists then this is the book for you.

Leaning a shoulder against the doorway, thumbs hooked in his front pockets and one ankle crossed over the other, Olivia’s worst nightmare and favorite fantasy leveled her with his penetrating stare and wicked grin. “What’s up, Doc?”

I feel like this book needs to come with a warning label. It's a damn fire hazard is what it is...to your ovaries. Luckily Lieutenant Erik Grady comes equipped with a big fire hose to take care of any...um...sudden combustions. *waggles brows*

But seriously, though. Hot dang! Looks like I got myself a brand new series to stalk from one of my favorite authors, and it has sexy as sin firefighters with Boston accents. Excited is an understatement here! But let's talk about the book, shall we?
She might as well hand over her body on a silver platter. What was wrong with her? It was like the man shorted out the power to her control center every time he got near. He was like the fricking Vagina Whisperer.

Erik Grady's wounds from his ex-army ranger days aren't just surface deep. When his severe PTSD begins to give him panic attacks on his job as a firefighter, he reluctantly agrees to see therapist. If only for the purpose of checking off the box and getting back to work with men he considers his brothers. What he doesn't expect is the woman sitting behind the desk to be the one that he shared one incredibly hot night with and who left his bed before morning with no note or a way to reach her.
His eyes spoke a truth. That he could have her anytime and anyplace he wanted, that the freedom he’d afforded her thus far was a kindness he didn’t have to give. Because with nothing more than a look—this look—and a gruff command, Olivia would happily give herself over to him.

Olivia isn't a stranger to heartbreak. Finally ready to get herself out into the dating scene after two years, she's almost given up hope with her dates from hell. She never expected a stranger to stir her blood hotter than she's felt in years, but it can't be more than a night...until the stranger turns out in her office as her brand new PTSD patient.

Erik isn't about to let the sexy doctor out of his sight again, and he's not above playing dirty to get her to agree. A bet gets him three dates, but those dates soon turn into something much deeper for them both.
Trust me.”
Her brows drew together. “With?”
His gaze lowered to her succulent mouth, a hundred images of what he could do it flashing through his mind. “Your pleasure,” he said gruffly. “I’m going to set your body on fire with sex so carnal and electric it makes you feel alive. I’ll use my mouth, my hands, and my cock to fuck your tight little body just as my words will fuck your mind.”

Even though these two hopped into bed together less than 15% into the book, the sexual tension between them never diminished. I typically like my books with a good sexual sizzle and burn, and I was surprised on how much of it was delivered here. I adored Erik and Olivia together. Erik went after her with single minded intent and I loved watching him break down all her walls. I also loved the way that Olivia was there for him and helped him with the demons of his past. Erik's PTSD was no laughing matter, and it wasn't brushed under the rug. You really get to see him struggle and deal with it. I seriously adored Olivia's silent strength in helping him though it.

And while I loved Erik and Olivia, there was one other couple that totally stole the show for me at a point and holy crap but I need their story. That set up? Beyond delicious. I loved the secondary characters introduced in the form of Erik's firefighter buddies and can't wait for their stories either.

As for this one? It was one sizzling and entertaining read, full of humor and steam that I enjoyed from beginning to finish!
You’d better hold on, gorgeous. This is going to be a bumpy fucking ride.”

No rating, because I knew better.

Well, really....who isn't hot for a fireman? I mean, look at this cover!

This was pretty good if you are in the mood for some light fun. It's a cheesy brazen type book. I actually love those, (see favorite cheesy Brazen book shelf). My problem, which is tragic, is that I've read too many of them and they all read the same to me now. I've read several by this author, and I've liked them all, it's just time for me to realize I need more in order to stay engaged in a book at this point.

The first sex scene actually had me cracking up, because all of these books seem to have a cheesy romance checkoff list that you have to cover right away.

First, The H has to have huge man parts that can't possibly fit.

"Wolf, that...I mean, you won't..."
"Fit?"
he finished for her. "Oh, I'll fit baby. I'll make sure of it."

Second, The h has to have a drippy vagina that is wet just for him. And, we have to hear way too much about it.

"Your cunt is dripping, begging me to use my tongue to lap up every drop it spills."

"Fuck, she tasted like sweet ambrosia, an elixir of the gods that he'd never get enough of".

(thanks to my friend Sharon for sending me that pic, it's a classic)

At some point the H always has to tell the h that she is his, and he owns her pussy.

"You're going to feel me inside of you for days. And every time it'll remind you of who owns your sweet pussy."

"That's right, baby. No more running. Not from this. Not from us. You. Are. Mine"."

Finally, The H can always make the h come on command.

"Told you last night. I own your orgasms, baby, and I want your cunt milking my cock right fucking now, he said, giving her hair a quick yank for emphasis. "Give yourself over to me, Livvie. Come for me."
Obidient as ever, her inner muscles responded to his command and clenched him so tight he thought he might pass out.

Hey, if it's what you're in the mood for, you can expect a hot fireman and lots of smut!

Not a bad read.

It was a pretty cute read, easy and hot, even fun at times.
It's pretty forgettable though. I liked the characters and the plot was pretty good, it just didn't have that je-ne-sais-quoi that makes a great book great.

Still worth reading, especially when you have no idea what else to read.

A series about current firefighters and former military heroes, who wouldn't want to read that!!

Lieutenant Erik Grady, after a recent fire that re-awakes his PTSD from his military days is making his current job difficult....Erik has always felt responsible for the death of the men in his team when he was in active duty and firefighting had usually made it easier to focus on the now but the panic attacks and nightmares are leaving him with nothing but pain and feeling out of control. His boss decides that he should take leave from active duty till the therapists declares him fit, Erik just never counted on the therapist being the woman he can't stop thinking about.

Olivia Jones is a therapist, her speciality being PTSD cases. Olivia has finally decided to get back in the dating game after the urging of her friends following the death of her husband two years ago. She, like Erik is struggling. After having a miserable time with the dates she had, Olivia thinks it would be best to just stop which is when she meets a certain man who not only helps her out when she's in distress but makes her feel alive for the first time in years.

Erik and Olivia first meet ends up them having a fabulous one-night stand that Erik wishes could have been a bit more. They had no idea that they were to be patients/therapist the coming Monday so Olivia finding a certain Lieutenant at her door for her appointment shakes her up. Convincing Olivia to get on three dates with him, takes a little manipulation and a whole lot of charm.

"I'm so in love with you, sometimes I can scarcely breathe"...."Then I'll breathe for the both of us" ~Olivia and Erik

Olivia and Erik together were adorable, the chemistry the had was explosive from the start and that was still present even as their relationship developed and they fell in love. I liked the fact we get to see them both struggle with their own issues and come out stronger and together.

I liked the fact that the author didn't make Olivia be his therapist just to make their story forbidden etc because this way it gave the story more depth and allowed Erik to be in therapy with someone who could understand what he want through as well talk about Olivia. His PTSD is a big part of the book because of how it only effects his job but also his relationship with Olivia. I believe it was done well and we get to see Olivia be amazing

Quibbles:
I just never understood why Olivia was made out to be insecure about certain things and it never got explained why, certainly not with what we got know of her life. It was a part of her character that I never understood.
I really enjoyed this book; there's humour, romance, angst and a great couple to root for! I'm pretty excited to read the next book in the series because we get a hint/POV of the other couple that also seem to share sparking chemistry with history of heartbreak and that promises quite a lot of angst.

Wow….Hot and Hilarious!

This is my second book read by this author and I can’t wait to read more from Ms. Gina L. Maxwell. She has a unique style. Just unmistakeable. For me at least. This book was just hilarious as hell and super HOT.

Yeah….she writes super hot.

This book was also my second book with the military or former military, read..
and I have no words to describe the feelings. It’s amazing. But we all know that the war is in no way amazing. Too much hurt and suffering. Too much horrible and horror images that mark every human being. I don’t know how and I will never understand how those people, (because we all know that in the military are both men and women) when they withdraw from the army, people who were in mission in Iraq or other parts, they can be normal people again. And by normal I mean a human being who continues living his/hers life, who makes a future. I am sure they are not NORMAL people again, mentally, because we all know that are some of them that they come back mutilated, and some of them they never come back again…

I admire these people. People who have the courage, the guts, the strength and power to move on, or at least, trying to move forward. To make a new future and a new life, when they saw what they saw and live thru all that hell.
So as you can tell, this book contains a little part of the story, of such a soldier, a ranger soldier, who tries to move forward, who fights with his own demons.

This is the story of Lieutenant Erik Grady, former ranger soldier, now Boston firefighter, or…

” Hottie McBulgypants”.

The book starts with a sexy stranger in the night, well…actually in a liquor store, with eyes like whiskey and dark hair. He’s a charming, determined, dominant, guy. A man who is every woman’s fantasy. And this time was Olivia’s fantasy and a one-night stand. One night with no compromises, no names exchanged, no information about each other…nothing.

They meet, they have a one-night stand and they return to their lives.

Only, life and fate had other plans.

Erik loves his job immensely. He also loves his real family and his brothers from the firehouse. His job is his life. So when his PTSD worsens and gives him panic attacks on his job, he is forced to see a therapist.

But when he meets his ‘Doc’…..fire’s in the house.

” Leaning a shoulder against the doorway, thumbs hooked in his front pockets and one ankle crossed over the other, Olivia’s worst nightmare and favorite fantasy leveled her with his penetrating stare and wicked grin. “What’s up, Doc?”

After two years of heartbreak, Olivia decides that she is ready to date again, but she is constantly disappointed. So when the sexy as sin stranger propose the one night stand, she agrees. And ‘Wolf’ sticks to the nickname. She leaves the hotel room with her WOLF in her thoughts and in her mind and for that, she is stuck to the spot in her chair when she meets her new patient.

” Now, I don’t know if you know this, but I also happen to be a firefighter. So if you’ve got any hot spots you need checked, I’d be more than happy to bring my hose by later and check them out thoroughly.”

The book was as I said, funny and hot.

I loved Erik determination to have her, his persistence, his game, his blackmailing, his funny part, his relationship with his family and especially with his brothers. I also understood his fear, because he went thru hell. My only regret was that I wanted to see some real fire action, suspense. And I also wanted to see Erik introducing Olivia to his real family. That scene for me….was a must read.

I loved the second characters and can’t wait to read their story.

Highly recommended!

Hot for the Fireman is my third book by Gina Maxwell, I read two of her Fighting for Love books years ago and now I am wondering why I stopped reading her as I really enjoyed this and I hope there will be more in this series in the future.

I loved Erik/Wolf he is a proper alpha male, he lives for his team at BFD and ex Rangers squad. When he set his sights on Olivia he will do anything to make her his.

Olivia has started dating again but all her dates are dates from hell one weekend she meets a stranger called Wolf and they have a hot passionate one night stand all they do is exchange first names not even proper names.

Monday morning who walks into Dr Olivia Jones's office as her new patient suffering with PTSD but Lieutenant Erik Grady aka Wolf.

I loved their relationship even though they started with a one night stand they take their time getting to know each other after Olivia finally gives in and agrees to a date before they get passionate again.

Hot for the Fireman has great characters, lots of passion, funny banter and emotional issues. I hope we get Dozer and Angelina next dying for their story.

I was in the mood for a little firefighter action and I saw this book by Gina L. Maxwell on Netgalley and snatched it right up. It’s been awhile since I’ve read one of her books and I had to ask myself, “Why did I wait so long?” This is a solid man-in-uniform romance with a couple so likeable that the book is infinitely readable.

I must admit I have an affinity for this heroes like Erik “Wolf” Grady. He is mature and crusty. He is jaded but so utterly charming he can talk the pants off you, and not surprisingly he does to Olivia Jones. With his smoky voice, he convinces Dr. Jones, a stranger he meets at a liquor store to a one-night stand. They connection is electric and both want more, but neither is exactly ready to ask for it. Until, he meets her again at the doctor’s office. Turns out Olivia is the department’s assigned doctor for Erik’s PTSD. Clearly, she cannot be his doctor, but he is determined to keep her in his life.

I really enjoyed story. I especially appreciated that we are dealing with mature characters who have been around enough to not play games with each other. Well, that is not exactly correct, they play around plenty in bed, but not with their relationship. The most difficult part, the part in which I find the most impactful, is Erik’s fear of hurting Olivia during an episode of PTSD. I’ve read these portrayals in other books, but this one hooked me in emotionally. Still, there is something appealing about being able to surrender, to be cared for, to be led. Although Olivia is a strong woman, she is willing to let go of control.

My one small critique is that Erik’s story feels more substantive than Olivia’s. Olivia has also been through trauma in her life that make her very cautious about entering into a relationship. Compared to Erik’s problems, her story seems a little light. His character overwhelms hers.

A strong start to a new series, Gina L. Maxwell gives us a romance destined to light your fire.

Hot For The Fireman was a smoking hot, burst into flames hot, set your kindle on fire hot read so of course I enjoyed the hell out of it.

It was also freaking hilarious and had me laughing out loud quite a bit. I loved the ribbing between the guys and the banter between Erik and Livvie.

The hero Erik is damaged, stubborn and so swoonworthy *dreamy sigh* while the heroine is feisty, stubborn and strong. Despite finding there stubbornness somewhat frustrating to the point where I wanted to shake it out of them I truly loved both characters and enjoyed going on this journey with them.

I also loved the secondary characters and cannot wait to read their stories especially the two who share a past and have palpable tension between them. From the glimpse of them that we got in this book I can tell they're going to be an explosively volatile and lethal combination and I so can't wait to experience it.

I highly recommend this book if you love damaged heroes, feisty heroines, laugh out loud funny and scorching hot sex scenes.

Stop judging me.

I know I said I needed a break from contemporary romance but I figured this one (last one, I swear) would at least be a bit of mindless entertainment I had no expectations for and could enjoy it for that reason. And, mostly, it was. But Maxwell also made this kind of smart.

Yes, hot firemen, yes alphamales, yes sexytimes, but it also touches on PTSD and anxiety. The heroine is a therapist, the hero needs therapying (shut up) but -- thank all the heavenly cherubs -- they don't do it on the 'lie down and tell me your feelings' couch. There's a lot of realism in this ridiculously-titled story and I thought it was pretty well done.

I mean don't get me wrong it still contains cheese and it's still a little ridiculous but there was no eyerolling on my behalf. I think that says a lot. There's also a lot of potential, I think, for future enjoyment. And I did wonder if this is a slight spinoff from another series (I haven't looked yet) as there were some characters who appeared that kinda felt like subtle nods to fans. Anyway. I was happy enough with this read that I'll definitely pick up the next book when it comes out. And potentially backtrack, but.. y'know, later.

Once I saw Gina Maxwell was coming out with a new series about hottie Fireman I couldn't wait to read!! Wolf is on leave until he's cleared to come back to active duty. He suffers from PTSD and needs to be cleared by the therapist. Enter Olivia who he meets the day before his session. They hit it off really well not knowing what will be in store for them the next day. So once they get everything out in the open they decide to pursue a relationship. This book had everything I expect from Maxwell. We had a nice buildup, hot sex and some angst.I really liked the route she went with this book discussing how PTSD affects our soldiers more than we know. I enjoyed the story even when it was a little bit predictable. I'm excited to see how the series progresses with the other firefighters.

••••••••••

REVIEW: HOT FOR THE FIREMAN is the first installment in Gina L. Maxwell’s contemporary, adult BOSTON HEAT erotic, romance series focusing on the men and women of the Boston Fire Department. This is Ex-Army Ranger and firefighter Lieutenant Erik Grady, and psychologist Dr. Olivia Jones’s story line.

Told from several third person perspectives including Erik and Olivia HOT FOR THE FIREMAN focuses on the building relationship between psychologist Olivia Jones, and fire fighter Erik Grady. Erik aka Wolf Grady is a former Army Ranger who lost two men on his last mission to the Middle East leaving our hero with PTSD and the guilt of making it out alive. A one night stand would change Erik’s life when the BFD assigns him the woman that he cannot get out of his mind. Enter Dr. Olivia Jones, Erik’s one night stand and the woman that would call to Erik’s heart. What ensues is the building love between our leading couple, Erik’s struggle to move on from the past, and one woman’s determination to prove that the man that she loves is so much more than the men that he lost.

Erik Grady suffers with PTSD and no amount of persuasion can convince our hero that his presence in Olivia’s life is anything more than a dangerous situation. Olivia has been trained to help those in need but when a man refuses to accept the love from the woman that calls to his heart, he struggles with accepting the man within.

The relationship between Erik and Olivia begins as a one night stand that soon builds into something more. Olivia must recuse herself from Erik’s therapy and therefore recuses herself from Erik’s life. Erik is more than determined to convince Olivia Jones that they belong together but one too many PTSD episodes pushes Erik to walk away. The $ex scenes are intimate, aggressive and intense although I shudder at the use of one particular word (noun) the author uses throughout her story.

The secondary and supporting characters are lively and animated. We are introduced to several of Erik’s former Army brothers and current firefighting teammates including Gavin ‘Dozer Greer, Ashton ‘Smoke’ Donovan, Sean ‘Bowie’ Evans, and Tyler ‘Preacher’ Connelly; Olivia’s godfather Dr. Eddie Marion, her assistant Cindi, and best friend Angelina de la Vega. Angelina and Dozer have a history that is heartbreaking and sad.

The world building focuses on the struggles of veterans of war including the PTSD, flashbacks, physical and emotional damage. Most of Erik’s co-workers are former military soldiers who battle the demons brought home from the war.

HOT FOR THE FIREMAN is a story of spirit and survival, passion and romance, healing and loss. The premise is captivating, energetic and riveting; the romance is provocative and seductive; the characters are flawed, playful and sensitive. HOT FOR THE FIREMAN is an intelligent and wonderful start to a new series.

It’s a one-night stand that should have had both parties going away satisfied. But coincidence (or the unlikeliest chance) has dictated that Erik and Olivia are going to meet again as therapist and patient as Erik works out his PTSD issues before getting cleared for active duty in the fire station. Early on, Gina L. Maxwell establishes that we’re looking at a firehouse of skirt-chasers and players—only the extent to which they tom-cat around varies—and it becomes clear that we’re going to see fireman after fireman take the fall when they meet their women.

I’m going to say right out that this was a difficult book to read and an even harder review to write, especially when I found myself struggling at every turn of the page as it began with a compendium of clichés. My own, deep scepticism about deep and lasting emotional connection developing after exploring physical attraction aside, it was the way both Erik and Olivia were portrayed that nearly had me running for the hills.

But perhaps, this disconnect exists only on my part, judging from the other reviews of this book.

The sex is hot, detailed and graphic. Erik’s the dirty-talking alpha, wild in bed and predictably, able to give Olivia the hottest night of her life as he uses his well-developed appendages with great expertise. They find each other beyond sexy and get it on too easily. But…what then? Maxwell’s investment in Erik’s and Olivia’s overwhelming physical attraction to each other had a 2-fold effect on me: it’s well-written—though filled with porn-like clichés in so many parts—but emphasised the sexual connection they had for most of it that I ironically had difficulty seeing past this to any compatibility that they might have had outside the bedroom.

Erik pursues Olivia based, apparently, on her hotness factor after he decides that their one-night stand can actually become much more. I couldn’t quite understand this, let alone get behind Erik's idea that their a one-night stand was actually fate in action. Suddenly he wants a chance with the reluctant doctor when he never quite wanted with other women (the reason isn’t quite given except that she made him way hotter), then pursues her with single-minded determination until she gives in, then betrays that trust in the end when he uses sex to punish her for wanting to stick around. PTSD gets the better of some people, I understand, and it forms the major conflict towards the end of the story, but the inevitable blow-up and the resulting grovelling all come as predictable elements of a well-worn formula that I was simply left underwhelmed by the end of it.

There are other issues that I had with the story, not just with the characters, but with the patient/therapist rules that both Erik and Olivia skimmed over. On the one hand, I understand that it’s fiction, where most things can happen and will happen without too many consequences. But Erik’s cocky open talk about their hook-up with her boss/uncle made my jaw drop (not in a good way), not just because of the sheer professionalism, but that I really, really couldn’t see this happening at all in any alternate universe where people/characters could get away with it. On the other hand, Erik’s passive-aggressive brag about how he wants Olivia while insinuating about the number of hose hunnies waiting for him in bed felt patronisingly insulting somehow, even if it’s Maxwell’s way of showing how big a decision it seems for him to commit himself to one woman right now.

I wished I could have liked this more; whether I’d continue with the series is still a huge question mark, but I suspect I’m looking forward to seeing some kind of equality been the H/hr where the latter doesn’t crumble like dust in the wind at the drool-inducing sight of bulging biceps and rock-hard abs…and vice-versa. Whether the rest of Boston Heat continues in this vein, well, is still up in the air, innit?

This book was funny, fun, and hit all the right spots. The hero was sexy, and a REAL hero--fighting for his country AND saving lives as a firefighter. The heroine is also a hero--she helps those suffering from PTSD to acclimate back into civilian life.

They two together are flammable.

If I had one complaint it would be that Ms. Maxwell tends to run off at the mouth, making some of her paragraphs into long, gasping, drawn-out sentences. One big, long sentence over a single, sometimes confusing paragraph. Sheesh! It took me out of the scene and made me have to take a breath before diving back into the story.

Overall, it was a good story.

My oh my, Gina Maxwell writes some steamy scenes. <<
Erik and Olivia meet one night at a liquor store and end up having a one night stand. Imagine their shared surprise when they learn she is the one who has been assigned to help treat him for his PTSD. Erik knows one night wasn't enough and manages to talk her into going on three dates with him so he can convince her they should be together.

There were some laugh out loud funny spots, as well as some that broke my heart. I wanted to wrap Erik up in my arms and hug him. I loved seeing him with his brothers in the firehouse and I am excitedly looking forward to Dozer's book...you'll understand why when you read this ;)

Ah! This book needs to come with a warning label: enough heat to singe! Firemen and military men are two of my favorite characters to read about and getting a twofer? Sign me up.

Is it overdoing it to use words like hot, sizzling and blistering to describe a book about a fireman and really passionate interludes? Maybe, but I got nothing else. HOT FOR THE FIREMAN is also very lighthearted and entertaining and the author deals with the issue of PTSD with the gravity it deserves.

Don't you just love it when the one time you throw caution to the wind and do something out of the ordinary is when it comes back to bite you? Well, Olivia Jones knows all about that. The one time she steps out of her comfort zone to enjoy a night of sexual pleasure with a stranger, he turns out to be her new client who now wants more than that one night, even if he has to blackmail her for it.

Erik Grady is all about the job and his brotherhood, from his days as an Army Ranger to his current job as a Boston fireman. When his PTSD from his army days begins to affect his job, he has a choice between being permanently benched and therapy and he heads off to therapy. Except his new therapist is the woman with whom he shared a night of heated passion over the weekend. Smart man that Erik is, he knows a good way to make the best of his mandated downtime: more time with Olivia in exchange for seeing a different therapist.

But what starts as a fun way to pass the time becomes so much deeper than that. However, Erik and Olivia are no strangers to heartache and pain and their growing relationship is bound to crash and burn unless they make some tough choices.

I'm not going to lie, this book was much more than I expected, particularly the sexy parts. Is it possible to have too much of a good thing? I'd say yes, but it was tempered by the honest and open feelings between Erik and Olivia. Erik was relentless in his pursuit of Olivia and broke down her walls one brick at a time. Olivia also put her heart on the line to help Erik deal with his PTSD and even their conflict was based on a genuine need to take care of each other.

The story is nicely rounded out with very interesting and supportive friends and fun dialogue. I really enjoyed this book and I'm very excited about the rest of the series. Just imagine the goodness in store for us with all those fire hotties!

Rating: 4.5*

Trope: Firefighter

Chemistry: Off the charts Scorchio

One-Sentence Summary: Firefighter Versus Therapist

Review: It's been awhile since I've read a romance that gave me all sorts of tingly feels but this one certainly did it!

I loved the set up of Erik and Olivia meeting each other and not knowing that they were going to have to work together in "real life". Erik's persistence at getting her to go out with him was nicely mirrored in the latter half with Olivia refusing to give up on him.

Whilst I spent the first half wondering when Erik's PTSD, the whole reason for them meeting, would come into play when it finally did, it did so in a big way. It felt so raw and real and I really felt for him.

Erik's condition keeps him off work for the duration of the book so for those of you looking forward to a book full of sexy firefighting action, you may be a little disappointed but I am sure Maxwell has plenty of time to explore that side of things in the rest of the series

One of my favourite things about the book was undoubtedly the introduction of Dozer and Angie. I am guessing their book is up next and I, for one, absolutely can't wait to read it. I love a good reconciliation romance.

PS. Loved the shout-out to Kate Meader's awesome Chicago firefighting series!

***FULL REVIEW***

4 Hot Crowns

Hot for the Fireman details the romance of Erik and Olivia, two broken souls who are trying to heal and start anew. There is still the heat readers love from Gina. L. Maxwell, but this one has a little more heart.

Both of these characters are reeling internally from tragedies in their past, both significant losses. Each has managed to semi-move-on in their own way. However, together, they figure out how to heal. Their love and dedication to each other and perseverance to get through the hard stuff rewards them in the end. And readers will want these characters to get their HEA, as they are both honorable and likable. Erik is the ideal hero with his honor, protective nature, and skills in the bedroom. Olivia is the perfect match, and her support and unwavering love of Erik is admirable. Their emotions are clear from the very beginning, and with each page the author solidifies their relationship.

This story is a slower burn compared to other books of this authors, but it still just as hot as the previous book I've read by her. When these two come together, it is electric, but the author provides the reader with so much more. She spends a considerable amount of team divulging their background and histories and how they have been altered, resulting in reader sympathy. As a result, readers root for these two to find peace with each other, and Ms. Maxwell does not disappoint.

Hot for the Fireman is another wonderful read. The journey of romance between these two is ultimately a tale of healing and hope for the future, and I enjoyed it from the very first encounter.

If you were thinking that the title and cover of this book would give you a preview of the story inside, you are correct! This is a steamy romance, starring Erik 'Wolf' Grady. But what you don't know until you dive in is that he's not your typical fireman. Having been in the military prior to his current career, (and with some of his firefighting buddies also having been on the front lines with him), he's struggling now with some pretty serious PTSD. It's resulted in him being temporarily off duty. He's looking for a little escape, and he finds that in a one night stand with a woman he meets at a liquor mart, of all places. No names exchanged at the time, but when she leaves in the morning, he discovers second hand that she's none other than Olivia Jones - his new psychologist!

When Olivia and Erik meet up a second time, in her office on the morning of their first appointment together, professional ethics dictates that their planned sessions won't be happening. Instead Erik gets moved to another therapist (Olivia's Godfather as it turns out, the man for whom she works). This leaves them free to pursue the attraction between them, though Olivia is hesitant to get further involved due to her own painful past, and holds him off for a little while at first. But it's not long before she gives in to Erik and things continue heating up between them. Erik's struggles to cope with his PTSD have him believing he's not relationship material for any woman, especially Olivia. Can they find their way through the baggage of their pasts to a happy future together?

Despite the serious themes in the story, and some flashback episodes for Erik due to his PTSD, the overall tone is fairly light. There is lots of sex in this story. And if they aren't having sex, Olivia and Erik seem to be thinking about sex. It gets a bit repetitious - Erik is hard (a lot). Olivia has wet panties ( a lot). The dirty talking (and thinking) involves how hard Erik is, and how wet Olivia is. In this case I could have used a little more romance and a little less sex. The scenes are pretty steamy, no doubt about it. But they don't do much to enhance the emotional connection between them.

There is a secondary couple in this story that gets a little more page time than I expected. Erik's best friend and firefighting teammate (and military co-worker -quite interesting that all these firefighters happened to be in the same military unit and now are in the same firefighting brigade) Gavin 'Dozer' and Angie, Olivia's best friend, were high school sweethearts and since they get a chapter all their own they clearly will get a whole book to themselves too. I'm looking forward to reading more about them.

All in all, I found this to be an entertaining read (if a little big long) with plenty of sexy times and likable characters. Erik goes through some ups and downs with his PTSD but his therapy is effective and the couple ends up in a good place with a happy ending after some rocky times. The secondary characters ensure that there will be more books to come featuring this firefighting crew and I look forward to reading them. 3.5 stars.

I enjoyed this book!

Been a while since I read romance invloving firefighters, though I don't really feel the fireman vibe from the Hero. I feel like he's still wound up with his army background and honestly that's a bit dsappointment for me because I picked up this book expecting story with fire fighting stunt in it.

But I still liked it mostly because it's filled with romance and the drama is pretty kicking. Look forward to read Dozer's story!

Cover/Titel

Dreimal darf geraten werden, was in diesem Buch mal wieder vorkam.

*I received a digital ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.*

I'm a sucker for romances that feature firemen so I was really looking forward to reading this one and it didn't disappoint. In fact, it was even better than I had hoped. If you're looking for a steamy, adult contemporary romance, then look no further because "Hot for the Fireman" is just as its title implies...HOT! But it is also so much more than that with plenty of emotion and characters who seem made for each other. This romance is a highly entertaining read and start to a new series featuring ex-Army Rangers who are now Boston firefighters.

The story gets off to a very steamy start, when Erik, a former soldier who is now a fireman, crosses path in a liquor store with an attractive female fresh off a bad date named Olivia. Having been burned in the past, Olivia only agrees to a single night of anonymous sex with this sexy stranger. Not expecting anything more than one night, both are in for a big surprise when their professional lives intersect in what is a major coincidence. You see, Erik is struggling with PTSD and has been ordered by his chief to see a therapist and you can probably guess (without reading the synopsis) just who that therapist who specializes in PTSD turns out to be. To put it mildly both he and Olivia are stunned when their one-night-stand suddenly has the chance to become much more as Erik tries to convince a reluctant Olivia to go out with him again.

There is no denying that this is a highly sexy read, but it is also filled with emotions, humor, and characters that I came to care for and want to know more about...things I love in a romance. Erik, or Wolf as he is sometimes called, and Olivia have chemistry that is hard to deny and I really enjoyed their interactions. While their path to a happy ending is filled with plenty of ups and downs as both try to navigate their way through their unexpected relationship and the situation they find themselves in, both are up for the challenge. Despite their own insecurities, pasts, and the walls they've built, they manage to deal with everything as the heat builds between them with a few stumbles and misunderstandings along the way. And as our sexy hero struggles to battle the demons that haunt him, our heroine manages to defeat a few of her own.

I really enjoyed Olivia and Erik's journey and look forward to reading more of this new series from Gina Maxwell as Erik has a few colleagues I wouldn't mind seeing...or rather reading about...again. In addition to Olivia and Erik's story, there's a bit of unfinished business between a few secondary characters that I hope gets some closure in future books.

Who hasn't had a fantasy about a hot night with a hot fireman? Come on, don't lie, you've dreamt about sliding down a fireman's pole, haven't you?

Erik "Wolf"Grady and Olivia Jones' story is super sweet, really cute, kinda sexy.

I am not going to lie, it is not the kind of story that we haven't all read hundreds of times already, but it is still one I enjoyed.

I liked that even though they had some hurdles they needed to overcome, that there was nothing OTT dramatic. No killers, no psychos after them, just a good ol' romance.

I love love love Erik's friends/family/wolf pack from his fire station. They really do show that family is not just blood, but it is those you surround yourself with, those that have your back no matter what.

And we get some set up for the rest of the boys in the "pack" too. These boys made me laugh so much at times, I can't wait to get to their books.

If you like a good, sweet (and sometimes a little cheesy) story, than pick up a copy of Hot For The Fireman.

4.5 Stars! I truly enjoyed this story! Gina is a fairly new to me author. This is only the 2nd book I've read of hers, but I loved it, and I will definitely be reading more.

Erik "Wolf" Grady used to be an Army Ranger, and now he's a fireman. He's used to high stress situations, but a recent fire call served as a startling reminder, and started a downward spiral of PTSD and flashback issues for him, stemming from his time overseas. His boss has ordered him to see a shrink to deal with it before it becomes a bigger issue in a future work situation. He's suspended until he gets the all-clear.

Olivia Jones is a psychologist. She's a PTSD specialist, and she works in her godfather's clinic. Her godfather is a former Marine and is now a therapist as well. She used to be married, but it's been 2 years and she's finally back on the dating scene. This has led to a string of terrible, horrible dates, and she's finally had it. Livvie meets Wolf in a liquor store, while picking up a bottle of wine after another bad date disaster. He comes to her rescue, and they agree to have one night together, no real names, and no strings. Famous last words, right?!

Livvie and Erik's chemistry was off-the-charts hot, and their dirty talk, and banter was sexy as hell. They really seemed to understand each other, and worked to overcome their issues. They were really great together. The issue that came up between them was completely believable, not to mention heartbreaking, and it really killed me. I liked that they were both willing to do the work they felt it would take to begin resolving their issues.

The side characters in this book were also fantastic! I'm hoping this was set up for them to all get their own books! Wolf's best friends from the Army/Fire Dept. each have their own issues, and they need to find their loves! We're obviously well on our way with Dozer! Livvie's best friend Angie was hilarious and fun, and I can't wait to find out more about her! The whole backstory of the entire crew, as well as the setting in Boston were so well done. I can't wait to read more about these awesome characters. This book was a big winner for me!

Where there's smoke there's fire and Gina Maxwell torched this one. I loved this book.
This book is a 4 alarm blazing read that will leave your kindle melting in your hands. I'll guarantee you'll never look at a fireman in his turn out gear the same again!!! Hot!

Erik "Wolf" Grady is a Lt. in the BFD, ex Army Ranger, dedicated and panty melting hot. His crew in the BFD are his team from the military and so called by their call signs. Wolf is Erik's and that comes with its own story. Erik has a problem, which for the most part is under control until the last large call out and is now remanded to therapy for his PTSD. He's now on desk duty and if he doesn't complete the therapy, he's on desk duty forever. Sheer torture for this man.
Stressed out, angry and out for a brew with his crew, he finds his a little "stress relief" burning up the sheets with "no names please." Chuckle. Needing a name, he gives her Wolf, she gives him Livvie. A wild night in the rack eases a little of his tension, and set for his appt to see the therapist the next morning. Showing up for his appt. yeah, you guessed it. Dr Olivia "Livvie" Jones. Olivia is stunned to see her one night scorcher in her doorway the next morning and absolutely refuses to see him as a patient and turns him over to her co-worker/boss, also Uncle. Erik wants Olivia. So he sets out to court her. Baiting her, he ropes her into three dates, in public so he can prove to her that he's more than just a roll in the rack and that he really does want to get to know her.
Between watching the courtship and listening to the dialogue between these two, which is at times hysterical and Erik's struggle with his PTSD, guilt and nightmares, the book had my emotions swinging on a pendulum. I loved these two together. Add to that the secondary characters, her best friend Angelina and Dozer who have history..... (please let this be the next book I need Dozer's story) . The sex and tension between these two was so palpable and so flipping hot. Nothing boring about these two.
Erik is truly a good man and Olivia is just a great female lead.
This book was so well written, I love Gina's books but I have to say this is her best by far. She captures not only the relationship but the stresses that those with PTSD bring to life and she did it justice. So much packed between these pages, it's just a must read.
Amazing book Gina!! Thank you!!
