Running from his own demons, Shane Ryan ends up in a cozy little cabin in New Hampshire waiting out a snowstorm. Despite the idyllic setting of ice frosted trees and snow covered lawns, Shane’s peaceful hideout is suddenly plunged into chaos. A Micmac ghost army, led by Broken Nose, goes on a rampage of torture and murder. Shane may be a ghostbusting expert, but without his fighting gear, his chances are slim in winning the battle against a supernatural horde.

With Shane missing, Frank knows deep in his gut that his friend is in trouble. He pulls out all the stops and enlists the help of The Englishman, a lunatic who has a passion for killing. They both head to the one place Shane might be – Lake Nutaq.

As the trio prepares for battle, Shane realizes it’s time to fight fire with fire, rage with rage and death with death! When they face Broken Nose, Shane sees the medicine man has commandeered an army of the dead to carry out his brutal blood killings. Frank and Shane live on the edge of danger but nothing could have prepared them for the malevolent evil unleashed to destroy them…

Ron Ripley is a husband and father surviving in New England, a place which seems to be getting colder every day. He grew up across from a disturbingly large cemetery where he managed to scare himself every night before going to bed. Mostly because of the red lights that people put in front of the headstones. Those things are just plain creepy to a kid.

Ron enjoys writing horror, military history and driving through the small towns of New England with his family, collecting books and giving impromptu lectures on military history to his family, who enjoy ignoring him during those dreadful times.

The ghost of Micmac Indians comes in with a blizzard and it is up to Shane and Frank to remove and deal with the savagery. I love this ghostly series. It would probably be better to read in sequence.

I've been reading all of Ron Ripley's Berkley Street series back to back and tbh they're pretty fun. This story was a bit more interesting because the ghosts were part of a Native American tribe and the deaths were waaaayyy more gruesome.

I rated this 3 stars because I kinda felt like it dragged on more than it needed to (which is surprising because the book itself is pretty short!) I don't know, something about the writing was very slow and stilted to me which is why it took me longer to read this story than the others. By the time the final showdown came, i was ready for it to end😅 however, I wouldn't deter someone else from reading this story and I'm going to be moving my spoopy self on to the next one ✌🏽

This is a series but a great standalone book. I have been following this series since book one and Shane is my hero. He goes in and he kills demon ghosts when he knows he could be killed. This story is well described with believable and interesting characters and ghosts. You will love Carl. Shane goes for a ride to clear his head and just get away from the Berkley Street house (without his bag of tools), he ends up in a snowstorm. You have to read this book is see what happens. Mr Ripley has great storylines that keep you wanting more. You won't be able to stop listening as Thom Bowers does such an amazing job with a powerful narration. He keeps your interest with this storyline. It will motivate you and draw you to the end of the book. I highly recommend this book.

BOOK 1 (BERKLEY STREET) - I really enjoyed this book. I read this book after meeting Shane in the MOVING IN series. This has been a very good series so far.
BOOK 2 (THE LIGHTHOUSE) - This has to be my favorite Ron Ripley story so far. The characters are all very well done.
BOOK 3 (THE TOWN OF GRISWOLD) - A nice book. The characters continue to be well done. So far I am enjoying this series more than the MOVING IN series....and I also enjoyed that series.
BOOK 4 (SANFORD HOSPITAL) - This is probably my second favorite book in this series. I really like the addition of one character in particular. The way this book ended makes me wonder if that person will be a returning character in the series....
BOOK 5 (KURKOW PRISON) - This book was a good read too. It was not one of the better books in the series. I may have to read it again because I feel like there are some things that I missed the first time.
BOOK 6 (LAKE NUTAQ) - This one was also good. More elements to the story appear to be being added. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
BOOK 7 (SLATER MILL)
BOOK 8 (BORGIN KEEP)
BOOK 9 (AMHERST BURIAL GROUND)

Other than the first book in this series these are really short stories that are not fleshed out (pun intended) at all. The book ends (before the "bonuses" with the detective lady showing up and asking about what happen at Lake Nutaq. Apparently he can just plead ignorance and they ignore all the deaths? It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. That is not the way the police work especially when two of their own are killed-again it is nonsensical and you have to suspend any sense of of how the world works to swallow this load of short stories). Anyhoo, once again we really are not dealing with horror or even ghosts as you might think of them. They are really just sadistic psychopaths (like Shane) and have really no restrictions on them. Why, can they walk through walls but salt in the doorway and windowsills stops them? Hmm. No horror factor as per most Ripley stories, just gore and senseless excessive cruelty. Shane, again, just threatens everyone like the alcoholic that he is. I really can't fathom the positive reviews. Yes, I am going finish the series because I already paid for all 9 and don't have anything yet to read in place but not a horror and not ghosts (they are more like a gang or zombies and all are almost always pure evil).

Entertaining fantasy listening 🎶🔰

Another will written fantasy world 🌎 haunting horror ghost 👻 demon monster adventure thriller novel by Ron Ripley and Scare Street (Berkley Street Series book 6). Shane runs away from the ghost 👻 in his home ending up ☝ in a cabin on Lake Nutaq. Where ghost 👻 of Indians are murdering the unsuspecting. Frank joins Shane and the fight begins to save a young teen age boy 👦. Shane and Frank are successful and home ✋ waiting for the next adventure. I would recommend this series and various authors to readers of supernatural horror ghost stories. Enjoy the adventure of reading or listening to Alexa read books 📚. Scare Street authors are one of my favorites for horror stories. 2022 😮👒😀

This series is getting better and better. Lake Nutaq started out very similar to the other books and I was concerned that this was going to be the same thing. I have enjoyed this series, but I don't want to have the same story every time. I needed something to mix it up and Ron Ripley introduced The Watchers. I am very excited to read the rest of the series now that there is a nefarious organization involved. And Shane keeps losing more of himself. This is both a metaphorical and physical truth. I love how the protagonist is not immune to getting destroyed by the very work he is sworn to finish.

Trapped in a cottage in a snowstorm sounds peaceful, no?
No. Just outside Shane Ryan's cabin are hordes of ghostly, murderous Micmacs, intent on winning a war long over, at any cost. And just to make a point, the Micmac intend to torchure Shane and his friends, just to test how brave they really are, and whether they will die with honor. But not all is as it appears when another player enters the field. I really enjoyed this book about Shane's battle on Lake Nutaq. Ron Ripley once again creates a believable character put into unbelievable odds, making us cheer once again as our poor, battered hero slinks off to battle, struggling against the hard wind.

Have to admit, this will not be a favorite in the Berkeley Street Series, but it’s still a goodread. The storyline was well written and had all it takes to be 5 stars as always with Ripley. I’m so into Shane that his anguish from his past and Courtney really bothers me. Courtney adds a most interesting read. Then he’s caught in a snowstorm at a lake and finds danger and a face off with an evil ghost, Broken Nose. The telling of what happens holds my interest till the end. Reading book 7 next, definitely hooked on Shane, ghosts and Ripley’s storylines.

So, I took a break from this series for a while as my enjoyment was trailing off and I was getting more and more frustrated. Thought I'd go back to it and thought the break might have helped. Now the writing was never going to win any awards but the books are plot-driven so I can forgive the overuse of names etc. But wow, is absolutely the last straw for me. Yikes. I didn't get very far into this one because I'd seen enough.

OK, so the ghost of Broken Nose lives up to the level of Savagery of the Native American, literally ALL THE WAY TO THE GRAVE; but Shane did his thing, as usual, but his personal battles seem to be coming down hard with the weight of a cruise ship's anchor. I'm intrigued with the idea of the un-living practicing manipulation as hard as Patience is doing so, on behalf of Broken Nose. I even found myself physically reacting, as if I'm watching a movie.

Another wonderful book by Ron Ripley

Both a strong emotive and action packed book. Shane again at his best and the others stories weaving together to make a book that has so much heart. The twists and characters are all fully fleshed out and I loved it, but please can Shane at least finds a little happiness before he loses any more body parts!

Not your typical ghosty story where someone inherited a house, mansion or otherwise spooky location only to find it not so empty as they thought. NO...THIS guy knew his house was haunted and moved in anyway. now ghosts seem to find him where ever he goes, the corner store vacation doesn't matter. No wonder he has a drinking problem, and a few less body parts.

Shane went thru quite alot in the last book, and this one is no kinder to him. This story reminds us about messing with ancient Indian burial grounds. The author is really descriptive in his books, and even though it's July, I could feel the cold in this book. Remember, nothing is held back - just because a person is good or innocent does not mean they will live. Unless you are Shane Ryan...

Shane decides to leave Berkley Street, Courtney and her screaming, as well as the other ghosts behind for a while. He needed to find his sanity after the last spirited adventure he had at the jail. He stumbles into a vacant tourist town to pass the snow storm and he finds it’s not quit vacant after all.

Lake Nutaq has long held a secret, one where people are dying. Shane is about to stumble across this secret, trying to find some peace away from the insanity his home is causing.

Will he survive Lake Nutaq, or will he fall victim to the Native Americans who haunt the area?

Great read! I enjoyed the story, and the continuation of some of the backstory.

Intense!

I like this series because of its intensity, mystery, and horror filled pages. As a reader, you just like Shane, the main character, and his buddies. It includes a little gore, and a lot of fright!

Another great read from my favorite author!

A terrific installment in the Berkeley House series. Shane Ryan is at it again fighting those baddie ghosts along with Frank and a bunch of great living, and some not so much, characters.

Wow

Lots of action and scary mayhem. Shane stumbled into a small part of the lake. He sought refuge from a bad snowstorm in a small cabin. He was all comfy until the screaming starts.

I am looking forward to the next book.

I loved meeting Jack Whyte. I do think that he is a little weird for wanting to help Frank and Shane and then asking to be freed and then come back messing with them. He showed that he could be manipulative. Courtney is about on my nerves here lately with hurting Shane.....

WOW, awesome reading

Ron Ripley has become my go to for ghost stories. This one is centered around Indians, and one really evil one. Shane shouldn't have taken off alone, but he always wins the fight.

For me this story and the previous one have seen the excitement of the read tail off. Whether it is too much of a good thing or what I'm unsure. Whilst I still enjoy them and want to get to the end, it's not quite the same. Perhaps the next one will get us back on track.

Enjoyable

Another enjoyable story of Shane Ryan hunting ghosts while being a traumatized snarky asshole. I didn't like some of the language used to describe natives. It was very uncomfortable to read. The big bads are entertaining and memorable, plus some cool death scenes.
