Now that Samantha no longer possesses the powers of an Elemental Witch, adjusting to life as a mere mortal, married to a Drachen, is harder than any enemy she’s ever encountered. Why? Because though she’s powerless, her friends aren’t, and those powers are leading them down paths she cannot follow.
Ivan’s inability to resist the call of the Cyber Web has Dharma terrified. She’s worried about his physical health after finding him unresponsive.
Kyle’s growing power in Southern Conjure has the Witch’s Parliament worried as the only tertiary member capable of controlling and advising the young Hedge Witch is now on his own path of destruction as he searches for the Dragon’s Eye.
And to add fuel to the fire, a new enemy has discovered Sam is vulnerable and with Crwys busy investigating a mounting number of what appear to be Voodoo related murders, there is no one there to protect her…
…or the secret she’s keeping from everyone, including her husband.

The title is very appropriate for this book! Sam and Crwys are married and there is a surprise. The mystery to this story involves Sam, Ivan, Crwys and many more. There is a killer on the loose and Sam is being cyber attacked and more. Let's add in some hoodoo and a somewhat crazy Soloman and God Mother and you have a few twists. I will advise you have some Kleenex handy and I hope you understand all the choices made. Excellent book!
What?? Did she just get tired of the characters and wanted to go to a new venue? An extremely short book which ended with a possible opening into the others character's own story line. If this was the ending of this series, definitely would have been one of the worst I've ever seen. Death and abandonment all in one short book. Not impressed. There is a ninth book Elemental Dreams (the finale of the series). Am hoping this one lifts the series back to the amazing series it was.
I just finished this book, and don't really know what to think about the ending... , and it was really short, I don't remember if that was the case with the other books, and the entire story took place over the span og 2 days. I am a little stumped ...
This book was an emotional rollercoaster. Crwys and Sam are married. Now that Lethe is gone everything will calm down. Right? Wrong! Someone is ritually killing people in gruesome ways and Crwys and his partner Levi are trying to find the culprit. Meanwhile Sam makes a shocking discovery that will affect all of their lives. Action packed and you never see what's coming. Just for the record, I totally HATE the ending!!!!
Sam had to give up her Elementals and her powers as a witch and is now just a Cowen. Now that she has no powers she feels left out of the group because everyone is trying to protect her from harm. Ivan goes down the rabbit hole to follow something as a Cyber Witch and Dharma finds him unresponsive. No one is sure if they will be able to get him back. When dead bodies start piling up that are linked to Voodoo, Crwys, Levi and Tas begin investigating and everyone is surprised where the investigation leads. This is one of my favorite series but I have to say that I was definitely not happy with where things went in this book and how abruptly it ended. Hopefully, the next book won’t be a long wait. Even though I was unhappy with aspects of the story it was still an awesome read and you won’t want to miss it!
This was the 8th book in the series, and I had a really hard time following the characters in this one. Some of them have 3 different names and some 2. Then they added new characters. I was able to follow the plot to the end and was really drawn to read the 9th and final book.
This book was one of the most saddest endings I have ever read. I certainly hope there is a book nine to be had as I hope this is not the end of Sam and Crws.
OK so I shed a few tears at the end ..... I wasn't expecting this ending at all! I suppose that is what keeps me reading these books! The unexpected!!!!
I was really disappointed in this book, it felt short and rushed. Easily read in an couple of hours. Absolutely hated the ending. I've enjoyed and recommended the first 7 books, but not this one.
I've read the entire series, waiting for what would happen next with Sam and Crwys. This addition kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time; an emotional rollercoaster! Sam is no longer quite witch, but things in New Orleans aren't quite right. It's even more dangerous than before. There's an unknown enemy in their midst and Sam's in the dark. Crwys thinks he's protecting her, but with everything going on, danger is around every corner and he can't be everywhere at once. With devastating news, Crwys, Arden and the gang are in a race against time. What evils will be eradicated and which will succeed? Phaedra Weldon created a world of magic and wonder; happiness and heartache. I love this series and highly recommend starting from the beginning if you haven't read these books. You'll be hooked from book one. 5 stars!
WOW....so emotional! Another book you just cannot put down. I prefer stories with happier endings, but I understand this ending. I have read every book in this series, and this one did not disappoint me.
