Emotional, heartrending story about the courage to love, to take a chance and trust the other to be there if you ever fall.
Sam Ryder's heart was broken two years ago when his fiance died just weeks before the wedding. He never got over the hurt, the pain, the yearning to turn back the clock and possibly save her. The survivor's guilt is eating him inside out, and the last thing in his mind is a new relationship, not to mention one with a baby, a family. He is a kind man, gentle, considerate, and gifted doctor, yet his heart isn't available to be won over.
Kate Ashton is a talented nurse, like a machine on the ward. But her personal life has always been a mess. She had a childhood no one deserves, she has no concept of being a mother or having a family. Her big heart and bad judgment get her in trouble constantly, and falling for the one night stand would be the worst thing to do, especially since he left her in the hotel room the next morning without a word. Or so she thought.
I liked both of the characters, they were so honest and genuine with their fears, hopes, and wishes. The journey they were on wasn't easy, there were many tears and desperate moments. And those fears were legitimate, Kate was terrified to be a mother, to not be able to do it, to hurt her child unintentionally, she was lost with her overwhelming angst, yet couldn't help but love the little one growing inside her. Kate yearned for affection and love from Sam while knowing his heart wasn't there to be surrendered.
Sam is such a solid, trustworthy man. He stands behind his words and doesn't make false promises. His desire for Kate hasn't subsided, quite the opposite, if only the sorrow from the past wouldn't pop up in the least expected moments to ruin the healing gained.
Reading about Kate and Sam falling in love and finding their peace with the past, and moving on with their lives, and the difficult journey they had to take to reach that goal was an emotional, tear-filled experience to me. All the feelings were on the surface, and to convince the other that they truly did love each other was a beautiful and adorable moment to witness.
The story is a perfect mix of the developing relationship, hectic work on the hospital ward saving lives, and supportive friends rallying around the couple as they search the right thing to do with the situation they were in. A delightful, thought-provoking, captivating, and poignant story, get your tissues ready, you will need them.

One of those rare romances where they TALK through their issues not flounce off, lol. Felt the connection between them, felt thier passion, really just felt the romance of their story.

I read this book as a pallet cleanser after finishing another book that had given me a book hang over. For that purpose the book worked really well as a quick read with a happy ever after (as expected).
Picking this book up though as a romance I must say that I was a bit disappointed that there was no spice to it, which I think did then take away from a fast romantic relationship. It was kind of just like watching a filler episode of a TV show. While there wasn’t much of a plot, and the book was quite predictable, it was still a nice read.
Wouldn’t read again but would recommend to read if coming down off a book high

Utterly adore this story, definitely proves loves the best medicine, beautiful story and definitely showing that people and loved ones can move forward after tragic times, wether we like it or not life continues on even in the hardest of times, a phoenix can rise out of of the ashes thank you Caroline Anderson xxxx

I have enjoyed a number of medical romances from Harlequin over the years as I love reading something a little different and chance to learn about something that I wouldn’t encounter in my every day life. There something fascinating about the medical world and I enjoy reading a somewhat realistic view of what this life is like .
However this time I’m not singing the praises of how accurate the author was delving into the world of ER and how carefully she was detail. It was the characters that got me turning the pages, wondering whether these two broken souls will find a means and a way to put their pasts behind and look to their future as there was a lot riding on it.
Their Meant to be Baby is the first I have read from this author despite her long career. This was something different . Whilst it was set in a busy ER . The story revolved around their one night of passion that lead to their current predicament. The story was more on the characters rather than their environment, a changed that was surprisingly good given the characters stories which are both heart wrenching
Kate has seen herself never to be a mother with the heartache and sorrow in her past makes her believe that she wouldn’t be . Until she throw wind to the caution with Sam. Never expecting the night to have unexpected consequence. Consequences she can’t deal with as it brings up things she would rather forget with the return of Sam
Kate didn’t think she would see Sam again and it obvious that his timing could be the best thing or the worst. Sam has been described to her as a ‘emotionally broken man ‘ and it describes him perfectly. His past has left him with scars on his heart and his emotions are locked away. His thinks always with his brain and never his heart. The last person that Kate needs and their mutual friends believe they should be pulled apart due to their issues. Kate doesn’t need more hurt but Sam needs her
However they don’t know the truth of the matter. Kate has made some bad decisions and her friends genuinely care for her. As she believe that she has characteristics and problems that define her future and she thought she never would have this future. She never thought would have to question and re-evaluate. As her past has forced her to believe there is only one way. Despite her issues it hard and her self doubting. She was trying to do the right thing by herself, Sam and her baby. Sam needed her even if he was dwelling on the past.
A beautiful journey of empowerment and discovery, Their Meant to Be Baby is a beautiful story of second chances and embracing the unknown. Anderson has written a beautiful story that should be read by any romance reader.

Kate and Sam had just one night together but after a few misunderstanding it was pretty much a given that they wouldn't see eachother again after that night. Little did Kate expect that the same guy would be working as a surgeon at the same place she works, on top of that shes pregnant. Now she got to break the news and see what will become of them.
So I've read plenty of books like this and somehow this book managed to find itself some unique times to make it different. I liked the characters and getting to know their backstories to understand who they are as they are now. I thought it was interesting getting to see them handle certain situation and how they solved things together. Overall this book was really enjoyable. I manged to finish this book it a 2 hour sitting and will definitely say that it was fast paced and enjoyable.
