Rate this book
It was only a matter of time. Time until the Variants outbreak reached Philadelphia. Time until the City of Brotherly Love was locked in a fight to the death to keep the city from being overrun. It’s taking every member of the armed forces and police to battle the Variants and it’s a battle they appear to be losing.

SWAT Sergeant Vince Black and his team are assigned a new desperate mission: To travel through Variant infested neighborhoods into the heart of the city and rescue the Governor’s daughter, who is trapped without food or water there.

Can Black and his team complete this suicide mission and live to see the next day?

This is their story.

A good short story with lots of action. Probably would've gone with a four star review, but there were a few story inconsistencies and a couple of editing mishaps. However, a very entertaining read with a great main character. Well done.

Variants fall to Philly SWAT! Amazing must read dystopian story.

As a fan of Nicholas Sansbury Smith's Extinction Cycle series, I loved the unique use of law enforcement. The police are usually overrun by monsters and the military saves the survivors. I enjoyed reading tactical police units being heroes. Excellent storytelling, characterizations and sparkling dialogue to support the intense battle for survival. I loved it!

Great Addition to the Extinction Series

This was one of my favorite novellas based on the fantastic Extinction Series. It was full of action and the characters were believable and yet still very human even though they were portrayed as super heroes. Excellent job! Would love a follow up on the continuing story of Sgt Black.

Good introduction

If you haven’t read The Wretched series this is a nice peek at what the survivors are facing. You actually meet the Philadelphia SWAT team earlier in the series. You can still read the novella and get a taste of the action, horror and bravery to come. I’m hoping to hear news on book 5 soon!

Action Packed

Great addition to the Extinction Cycle series. Full of action and suspense, this story tells of a Philadelphia SWAT team trying to rescue a group of students from a university, and evacuate before the city is bombed. I enjoyed it.

E. G. MICHAELS HAS DONE AN AWESOME JOB WITH EXTINCTION CYCLE: OPERATION FREEDOM

This is really a great story and a super addition to the "Extinction Cycle" series. E. G. Michaels has done an awesome job with "Operation Freedom" and I seriously believe everyone else checking out this Novella will also think the same. I'm a major fan of the Extinction Cycle and I'm so very happy that I can add this to the series also. This does rate 5 stars and I will definitely recommend this to everyone I know. Thanks so very much E. G. Michaels.

Excellent story

I love the Kindle Worlds novellas for the Extinction Cycle. They all fit so perfectly into the world and this one is no exception.
I honestly found myself laughing at a few points. Not because of the subject matter, but some great lines. "I'd rather slam my own privates in a sliding glass door repeatedly.” might be my favorite line in anything I've read lately.
