About 2.5. I really waffled over rounding down, but I want to distinguish this from others by the same author that I like more. Part of it is more vulgar language (I really hate the C word, for instance) and attitudes re. sex, part of it is how they'd allowed Ron's selfishness and Ginny's delusions to separate them without any real communication, maybe part of it is the inconsistency of Harry claiming to still respect Arthur Weasley despite his obvious ineffectualness and even still seeming fond of Molly despite her biases, probably part of it is that I just read another Harry/Hermione fic of hers that was very gender-politics-focused, and I didn't need more of that.
Ginny is the main antagonist, and Harry's revelation that she made his scar ache is a neat touch. The suspense elements had a fairly tame resolution after her worst strike, though.
I liked baby Jacob, godson Teddy, and Winky the house elf, and Harry's relationships with them. Neville is deservingly Head Auror. Hermione's parents are fast becoming close to Harry and his kids, too. I'm a bit more curious about veelas and their magic than I was before.
I just wasn't really invested in the central relationship this time. Harry still has a lot of baggage from his recently severed previous marriage. Even Hermione's affection for little Jacob was basically instant, without showing it build to give it depth. And I guess I have to admit I prefer a somewhat more rose-shaded romance in my fiction — unless maybe I have more expectation that a heroine will be a "lady"? Hermione was my favorite character in canon, after all — smart, tough, and caring — so I have exacting standards about what fanfic does with her as an adult.

Reread 4/'23 prompted by going through the art gifts on KM's site and not initially remembering this one. This time I'd say about 2.75, but that's a distinction w/o a difference, and is probably because I'd read something good (though not on GR) just before, giving me a better attitude.
