Psychologia odżywiania się

Rate this book

Opublikowała ponad 100 artykułów i kilka książek.

This is a great book if you are a student of psychology. It is filled with very informative and interesting research- however, if you're looking for an easy and entertaining read, this is probably not the book for you.

This well organized literature review combines both individual and social influences on eating. Everybody’s got to find their own way of eating healthy and this book can help cut through the bs and psycho-shit out there.

Interesting book. It is has a very wide approach, multi disciplinary approach. A little repetitive to the end, but i learned a lot from it.

Regular summaries at the end of each section keep it manageable and not overwhelming, despite the density of interesting information.

Right after the introduction, they tried to provide a little vibe-check about various diseases of civilization and where they come from. They said heart disease comes from raised LDL cholesterol by way of saturated fat, implying red meat and not tastykakes what done the deed. This widely argued in academia, but close enough. What rankled was the suggestion that seed oils were protective against this. Seed oils aren't protective against anything except not having cancer.

I was gonna mark it as a one of, but not a page later it was suggested that type 2 diabetes is also primarily caused by a high saturated fat diet and protected against by a high carbohydrate diet.

No coming back from that, boys and girls. That's the kind of statement that gets people dead. I guess I'll never know get to know Ogden's insightful perspective of the spectrum of ordered eating behavior.

Don't let the fun cover art fool you; this is an academic read more than anything. Information about how Americans in particular are socialized to have a complex relationship with food if really interesting. The book provides an objective view on diet culture, obesity, and eating disorders.

Unable to finish this book. I usually enjoy reading studies and information regarding nutrition and related topics, however, it's not an interesting read. I had this book for over 2 months and only got half way through.

stanowi raczej zbiór aktualnych badań w tym temacie, więc przeczytałam jedynie najbardziej interesujące mnie fragmenty, przekartkowałam i odłożyłam. niemniej pozycja warta uwagi

This is an important piece of work - but difficult to sit and read for lengthy periods of time.I was hoping that the book would bring many issues together and present our current situation as a whole. Rather than my random searches through many medical data bases. Sadly it feel short of this for me. That said I admire Jane Ogden greatly and applaud her work.

Unfortunately I didn't manage to finish all of it as it was an inter library loan and the time frame was strict.

A good reference book combining lots of studies in one place, but lacks a wider context or argument, or conclusions, to stop it becoming very dry reading.

Great research based psychology book, wish there was more of a term based section for those who have not taken a psychology before. I had no problem with terminology but fellow classmates did.
