Can a “plain Jane” tame a hot as hell cowboy?

Curt Tucker is used to melting hearts, having romanced his way through town, but what he really wants—the only woman he’s ever truly loved—she’s long gone. Jane Carpenter fell hard for the sexy cowboy, but his bad boy ways caught up with him, breaking her heart into a million pieces.

Now… years later… they are face to face again… nothing having changed. Curt, rugged and handsome, is even hotter than she remembered, weakening her resolve not to fall for him again.

He let her go once, but now… nothing will stop him from making her his forever.

Hero was so selfish, he'd sowed his wild oats and was ready to settle down, the heroine was just graduating high school (he took her to prom) and ready to go off to College when he turned on the charm trying to get her to stay with him in their small town. The only reason she didn't was because an ex turned up pregnant who he absolutely wasn't going to marry and was going to make her take a paternity test. He married her and didn't take a paternity test, then was surprised SEVEN YEARS later when he finds out she isn't his daughter, even though the ex had a rep for sleeping around TSTL.

Heroine comes home after losing her job and fiance, Hero is still married to drunk/druggy wife, who miraculously sobers up when she sees Hero and Heroine out to dinner and finds out the Hero has filed for divorce and rides of with a new beau??? neatly tied up there.

I had to laugh at this quote at the end

"Oh, Curt." "I'm so glad you were patient."

"What?"

"You waited for me."

"I did."

"You never Gave up."

"No, ma'am."

He's still married with a child, SEVEN YEARS after heroine left, and if she was sober he would still be married to her. He gave up and got on with his life, he gave up enough for the heroine to get engaged to someone else, they were serious enough to have had the venue booked, and were living together.

He convinced the heroine to give up her dream of working abroad and just visit a few places on holiday. He is one of the most selfish heroes I've read.

Nice afternoon read. The H, a former playboy, was working to improve himself and his reputation. He met the h and rapidly fell for her until a former hookup presents the pregnancy story. The h leaves and goes to college, the H marries the hookup and raises their daughter essentially alone as she is an alcoholic. The H and h reconnect and marry once his divorce from hookup is finalized.

Waiting for and finding true love.

Curt fell in love with Jane when she was a senior in high school. Then life intervened and Jane went away for seven years. When her life flies out of control, she's forced to come home again. The premise was pretty good, but there just seemed to be a lot of the same conversations over and over again. Everything fell into place too easily and too pat.
