After years of digging, anthropology student Blake Meier is about to strike pay dirt.
If all goes well, an interview with the Navajo chief will complete his doctoral thesis. It may also lead to the discovery of a lifetime.
But his advisor, Dr. Samarjit Chambers, has his own agenda. And unbeknownst to either of them, hidden horrors lurk in the ancient petroglyph they both lust after.

Wendigo: A Paranormal Story by M.G. Herron is a short story that was pretty darn good. I was really on the side of the Wendigo for the first part. (I know, I am terrible but until you read the story, don't judge). I don't want to say too much about this since it is a short story just that it is good and worth the read!
This was an interesting read. A pleasant change to read a paranormal short involving a creature that is not a Vampire, Zombie or Werewolf etc.
The characters are pretty good, Sam being a conceited, selfish person who is instantly dislikeable and Blake, his archaeology student who is studious and hard working and intent on becoming famous.
The story progresses at a fair pace, setting the background nicely regarding the feud with the native Americans and their beliefs, and ultimately builds up to a pretty good climax. The Wendigo creature was a worthy adversary and the twist at the end was a nice touch.
One for fans of the paranormal who would like something slightly different and yet also familiar.
This is an interesting, well-written short horror story about a mythological creature called the Wendigo. The characters are pretty well-developed for a short story and the interactions between them added a lot it.
I always enjoy reading stories based on myth and this was a pretty good one. A good story to read when you want something in the horror genre that is entertaining.
