A young woman with an embarrassing secret runs away from the only family she's ever known because she sees her own picture on a milk carton... A young man makes his fortune in real estate after running from his family and a terrible secret of his own... A chance meeting in the desert. Will they be able to save each other, or will their secrets destroy their chance for love?
Impermanent is a romantic suspense that features a young, barely legal girl, Em, who has run away from home because of a milk carton. She winds up in the Arizona desert and saved by Ty, a young businessman in Phoenix. Em may not know who she really is, but with Ty's help she will soon discover that she and Ty have more in common than she knew.
Jamie Jeffries employs the first person narrative and switches easily and dramatically between Em's POV and Ty's. Seeing each character through their own eyes and through each other's perspective makes this story perfect. Jamie tackles the issue of their age discrepancy, her learning disability, and their hero/damsel-in-distress relationship with both realism and optimism. I loved how they each recognized the limitations of the foundation of their relationship and worked toward a more permanent basis for their relationship.
I highly recommend this book to any romantic suspense fans, who also like a touch if taboo.
I liked the premise, but the writing and overall plot let it down. It felt like a teenager had written it and the overall plot didn't really make sense. Shame.
Also this book ends suddenly but I don't think there's a sequel. There's a somewhat resolution and end, but it's not really satisfying.
The author's name is confusing, too. Both on Amazon and my Kindle it's Jessa Jacobs.
This would've been a great full length novel, it just seems the situations that seemed so daunting for the male lead wasn't and the conclusion was very anticlamatic. Becca wasn't even in the reunion.
This is a sweet story about two people helping one another heal themselves after experiencing some tragedy that isn’t easy to come back from. The relationship between the leads grew at a believable pace, and it wasn’t all about the sex (which is refreshing for this genre). It passed the “would this still be a good story if there wasn’t so much love making” test. I know because I skipped them. And for those who enjoy this genre but are uncomfortable with the sex scenes, the ones in this book have clear beginnings and ends so you know you’re not skipping story. For those who love it, there was enough to keep you happily entertained.
As for the crime that was involved, that was pretty believable. The author knew enough about the subjects she included in this book for it all to make sense (locations, farming, real estate, investment etc). Even for this Criminal Minds buff, just about every crime involvement seemed pretty legit for one (me) who knows nothing more than what T.V. has to offer. The only time I grumbled was at how the heroin reacted to her situation with some low-lives she couldn’t escape, but I blame that on different personalities. Her reaction was believable and honest, though frustrating for one who has a lot more fight in them (but fighting would probably get you killed, which most people are scared of).
Overall. This was a fun read with plenty of romance and drama. It will keep you on your toes, and hoping for the best.
We meet Em stranded on the side of the road. She's just learned that she may not be who she thinks she is and neither are her parents, who she suspects kidnapped her and are criminals beyond that.
Ty sees her on the side of the road and is compelled to help her. She's lived a sheltered life, only more complicated by dyslexia, for which she has received no help.
And then it gets more suspenseful and intense. I liked the relationship that develops between Ty and Em and the author did a great job of creating a compelling story.
Impermanent was a great read! Jamie Jeffries is a gifted author. Em believes that she's the victim of a kidnapping. Oh, but wait for the twists that are interwoven throughout this story. She's helped by Ty, a real estate investor. But, he has secrets of his own. The characters have depth, even the secondary characters. The environment and situations came alive with description. The story and dialogue flowed flawlessly. Five stars for this wonderful tale. I was given a free copy of this book for an honest, non-reciprocal review.
the author has got it down. every chapter engaging as the next to the point you don't want to stop. strongest characters I've read in a long time . you don't want to miss this read. glad to have found this book. would love to read more from this author. maybe we could revisit ty and em in the future because they truly are a beautiful couple.
It is a great book with a great story plot. Em wakes up one morning and discovers her whole life was a lie. She takes off and her Father's car breaks down in the middle of no where. When handsome stranger Ty stops to help, will she decide to trust him? The story of both of them having run from their families and having to learn to trust others again. You won't be sorry for getting this one!
