Spectacular!!
L.L. Akers has once again delivered a powerfully emotional and riveting story with twists that left me gasping and/or bawling! If you missed my review of Let Me Go, the first book in this series, you can read it here. Let Me Go dealt with the difficult subject of abuse. In Captured Again, Ms. Akers takes on the equally difficult subject of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or PTSD. My review of Captured Again will be somewhat vague as I don't want to ruin the experience of reading this book. I will say that it is incredible the lengths the mind will go to in order to protect you.
Captured Again takes place ~5 years after the end of Let Me Go. It once again revolves around the three sisters but focuses mainly on Emma and Gabby. Just as in Let Me Go, I found myself questioning. I questioned whether or not you can ever shake loose of the perceptions and opinions of you, even if you truly change. I questioned the mysteries of the mind and whether you can heal completely after suffering great trauma.
Gabby is suffering - deeply. Not being able to let go of the paranoia that has haunted her since being abused by her boss, she experiences panic attacks. One night, her panic attack caused an accident that lost her everything. Six weeks later, she's barely functioning and her sisters are keeping a vigilant eye on her as they wait for her to be able to deal with all that has occurred.
Emma is working her way through college. She's working hard to make something of herself so she can finally close the door on 'that girl' she used to be and focus on being 'this girl' she has become. A night of drinking lands her a night in jail and a spot on Dusty's radar. This encounter may prove to be the best thing to happen to them both.
Olivia's presence wasn't as dominant in this book, but she was there to support her sisters. She's worked hard to put her past behind her. Yet she's also using her experience and knowledge working as a social worker to help children. (sidenote: I was thrilled to see in the notes that she'll be getting her book next.)
Captured Again has many twists and Ms. Akers once again offers the reader a mystery to try to solve. I can honestly say I never knew what was coming. It made for dramatic reading. Captured Again also opens a discussion on the effects of PTSD, both for the sufferer and those who love them. I don't know much about PTSD, my only experience being in books. I found the ways in which the mind works fascinating in this instance.
Gabby, Olivia, and Emma prove yet again they are survivors. These girls, who've been through so much, have the uncanny ability to pick themselves up, dust off, and move on. It's very admirable and inspiring. They embody the characteristics of the dragonflies that adore their bodies (as tattoos) - beautiful, graceful, always in motion - you can't keep them down. Captured Again showcases these sisters' resilience and strength. They're remarkable.
Captured Again is well-written, well-paced, and kept me guessing. It was also able to evoke such powerful emotions in me. At one point, I literally put my ereader down and bawled. I also appreciate Ms. Akers' ability to take on touchy subjects with such aplomb, and to weave such thought-provoking and compelling stories around them.

After reading "Let Me Go" by L.L.Akers I couldn't wait to see what happens with Gabby, Olivia, Emma, and their mom. "Captured Again" picked up fairly easily from where "Let Me Go" ended and I had no problems with following timelines given within the story. F.or those that wanted to get to know each of the characters I would absolutely say that this is a great way to do it. I was able to know these characters in a way that I wanted to see in the first story. I already had a connection with Gabby that developed in "Let Me Go" but I was able to get to know Emma better and I found that while Gabby is still my favorite; I truly enjoy Emma's spirit and spunk.
This story was one that I couldn't put down; like it's predecessor I needed to see how this story played out. I was captivated from beginning to end but I can't discuss most of my favorite scenes in "Captured Again" without spoiling it for other readers. (I'm not as talented as the author in drawing others in.)
I commend the author once again on the research that has gone into being able to write convincing fictional scenarios that mirror some real life scenarios. Captured Again was the second book in the Let Me Go series by L. L Akers. I remember the first book in the series Let Me Go was not an easy read as the storyline had dealt with some difficult, and tough subjects. I had wanted to read this one as to see how the girls were going to move forward with their lives,
Captured Again picks up five years later. Emma is now grown up, and trying to forget her past, and move forward with her life. Gabby is too, but she is suffering from a new heartache, and Olivia is trying to support the both her sisters.
I enjoyed the book like the first book it was an emotional read, My heart went out to Gabby with all what she was going though. I love that Emma was trying to make positive change in the life. I think fate step in the night she meets Dusty, as he was what she needed.
“I know we barely know each other, but I’ll take my chance on getting burnt. You’re worth the risk.”
This is more Emma and Gabby’s story and I must admit whilst reading it as it was coming to an end, I was a little disappointed that we were and had not got more of Olivia’ s story, however, I was pleased to discover once I had finished the book a message from the author to say that Olivia will be getting her own book.
Overall, I enjoyed this book, it was another well-written, well-paced emotional story about sister trying to survive, and not let their past continue to influence their future. The twists and the suspense of the story kept me intrigue till the very end.
It does say that Captured Again, can be read as a Stand-Alone, but I wouldn’t read this one until you have read Let Me Go as it will give you all you need to know about the sister, and their painful past, it will allow you to connect with them better.
I’m looking forward to reading the next book.
On a side note, if you don’t normally read the acknowledgement at the end of a book, please take the time to read the one from L.L.Akers as it moving read, and explains the background part of the story.

I'm happy to say I loved Captured Again!
Book #2 takes up a few good years since book #1 left off. I loved getting to read about Emma as an adult, and this time the book centers on her. I also loved seeing Olivia with her life on track- in general, the girls' lives are much better than when they were younger, and that took courage and hard work that was beautiful to see.
You think a book all about girls won't make you swoon? Think again. Dusty alone made me all smiley. And towards the end a certain someone shows up... warning: There are some steamy, steamy scenes(;
Gabby is not doing well. However, unlike other books that feature troubled heroines, she isn't whiny at all and lives and learns and is, in other words, a survivor. (Survival is a running theme in the series)
Lastly, some cover love. Just how gorgeous is this novel??

To all readers, if you've read this book you know how important these books are to prevent abuse. Talk with teachers, principals and guidance counselors about these books to get them into the Life Studies classes.
Out of 100 relationships, 25 will have at least 1 violent incident. Of those 25, 12 will continue until either the abused escapes or he/she is dead. The worse part is it is generational. So the cycle continues from father to son and mother to daughter.
Don't kid yourself, abuse also happens to men. They have been taught never to strike a woman in anger so the woman can do unspeakable things to the man. If he tries to defend himself then he is arrested as the abuser.
Why is it when we were created to soar to the stars, many people prefer to jump headlong into the abyss?

I loved this book, as I did the first one, L.L. Akers, is a wonderful writer/author. She has continued the story of Emma, in Captured Again, with features of Gabby in the book aswell. Olivia is in the story also, but very little...
These three sisters are very close and can not be messed with. I almost feel like I am part of the family when I am reading the books. I cry with them, laugh with them and get angry. You really don't want to be sitting next to me on the bus when I'm reading these books...LOL.
Anyways...great job and looking very forward to the next one...

I can only reiterate what I posted on Let Me Go. I absolutely loved Gabby & then Emma's story and can barely wait for Olivia's story to be finished & published. Without going into details, you just need to buy them and YOU WILL NOT be disappointed, PLEASE buy L.L. Akers' books. She is an awesome authoress. How anyone could give these books less than 5 stars is beyond my scope of understanding.

What can I say about book two Captured Again, in the Let Me Go Series? Well, it certainly captured me with an unexpected twist, once again leaving me wanting more. I am a hopeless romantic and this book delivered in an unexpected way. I personally enjoyed reading the romantic steamy scenes' that weren't to graphic, yet didn't just fade to black. I promise you won't be disappointed.

I loved this book and have found a new favorite author! Once I finished 'Let Me Go' I couldn't wait to start 'Captured Again' and I was not disappointed. The story line kept me wanting more. I'm anxiously waiting the next story in the sister's lives.

The second book in the series is as great as the first! I am almost always able to call the outcome in books and movies, but not this one. This book is so well written that I felt I reconnected with the characters! I anxiously await the third book in the series!!!!

As captivating as the first book in the series. After reading Let Me Go, I could not wait to read this book. It did NOT disappoint! The twists and turns in this book are very well written; I couldn't put it down. You can help but love three, strong and beautiful women.

Great read. I must say that I fell in love with all the sister's. Strong amazing women with men to support them. This story had all the twist and turns to keep you intrigued throughout the book.

Still having nightmares about her old job and her life as it was working under René. She remains living in her house that she resided with Jake in, but a new job.
Olivia has a great job, too. Taking care if seeing that her twin is alright on a regular basis takes up most of her spare time. And her youngest sister Emma is in college, also working part time and still trying to get herself out of the past, convincing herself that she’s not THAT girl any more.

I loved the first book in this series; however, this one was even better. There are moments you think you know what's happening, and you can feel it coming, like watching a scary movie. Parts of this made me want to scream at the characters, stomach in knots and butterflies, holding my breath, just waiting for what I knew was coming. Other parts had twists and turns I never even expected. It truly takes the reader on an emotional roller coaster with the characters. Spectacular writing!!!!

This, the second book in Akers Let Me Go Series, will make you weep tears of happiness, terror, soul destroying sadness, and finally acceptance. Someone once said that from nightmares come rainbows, and this story give proof to that. Read The Girl in the Box first, and then get ready to cry.

Excellent Sequel
Lisa Akers has done it again! The suspense had me reading from the beginning and not able to put it down till the last page. The storyline is so well written it draws you in and doesn’t let go, can’t wait till book 3!

March 5, 2016Holy amazeballs, I had a tough time writing this story! Everyone says the 2nd is the hardest and they were so right. The first one came together in my mind so much easier, like it had been percolating there for years. This one, I had to dig deep for.
I've gotten so much positive feedback for Let Me Go, I was afraid to attempt another book. I think I was afraid of failing and not being able to produce another one like the first. But then I realized the majority of peep's said they loved Let Me Go, but some did mention it was kind of dark... once that hit me, I realized it needed to NOT be like Let Me Go, so it was smooth sailing from there.
The girls went through hell in the first book. Time to lighten it up a little. Thus, the lighter color on the background of the cover (is anyone getting that feel from the cover?
