Karlie has known about shifters since her mother fell in love with one when she was three. Raised as the only human in a pack of shifter wolves Karlie is privy to a lot of informtion that normal humans dont have and cant wait for the day she turns eighteen when it was decided she would be turned into a shifter. When the soon to be Alpha of the other pack that lives in her town starts showing her more attention she doesnt think anything of it. But thats the least of her worries. Danger lurks around the corner and it'll be a surprise no one see's coming.
Plus a sneak peek at The Bear (also available on kindle unlimited)
This is the author's first book, it's a short (100ish pages) shifter YA read. It was not my cup of tea, but I think it would be great for a middle schooler. It's clean, and there is little violence and is corny enough that they would probably eat it up.
I am an adult, however, and need some substance...there really isn't a plot. The blurb states that Karlie is the only human in a shifter family. She can't wait to be changed, the future alpha, Drake start paying attention to her and danger lurks...
I don't think it should be a spoiler to say Drake is her mate; they have an insta-puppy love lovefest with plenty of baby, and babe and 20+ I love you's after getting together. The danger doesn't appear until about 70% in and that is easily dealt with...then again at the very end of the book. The rest of the book is just filler of kids playing hide and seek, and loving each other. Personally I was super bored, but I do think younger preteens(teens) would like it.
This book is a first novel for this author I believe and they did a great job! The story line was good and kept me interested, banter between the characters was funny. All in all - great job!
Yes there were a couple things that the author can work on. For instance: sometimes they gave too much detail or character movement sentences. But it was a great first novel and I cannot wait to read more!
This novel is a YA book (no dirty stuff) about shifters finding their mates. Characters are in high school and I like that the author kept it acceptable for their age. No drinking, no sleeping around
If you like YA shifter books you will enjoy this read!
I gave this book a two because their was so much more depth that the book could've gone into, sadly it didn't. As soon as I started reading the book I noticed a lot of detail that was unnecessary. For example describing what she did after school, like how many slices of pizza she ate and even to the point of describing the character charging her phone. Like I said this book could have gone more into depth with an interesting plot.
Fun character interaction amongst main characters but some editing needed
I enjoyed this story, but it needs some proofreading. There were several instances where "ill" was used instead of "I'll" which was very distracting, lower case word at the start of a sentence, etc. I don't typically focus on these things but here it was very distracting. Nonetheless, I would read more from this author.
Hmmm was a little slow getting started a moved way to fast, to many I love yous lol a few misspelled words, no buggy there but started getting better I could get into characters seeing what they looked like and their personalities come to life! But it kept me reading so I'm gonna go read book 2
